How to change IMEI on Gigabyte PDA ?

how can i change IMEI in Gigabyte G-smart i ?
does unlocking mean changing IMEI ?
however i need changing IMEI of the pda !
the phone OS is "Microsoft Window Mobile 5.0 for Pocket PC Phone Edition(AKU2)"

and one question more : is changing IMEI depended on the brand of the pda or it is depended on OS version for PDAs or ... ?

it is dependent on the phone the model and the way of storing the IMEI, I dont think there is much info on IMEI changing on this site (and indeed the entire internet) because of the legality of it.
IMEI "repair" is a better way to put it... but its still probably illegal in your country. Use the search function on this site to see the methods used on HTC PDA's and also look around the net for something specific to your PDA. Chances are no other tools for other pda's will work.

Unlocking means that your phone can use any sim card from any gsm company.
It hasn't nothing to do with imei.

u can unlock the device so you can use any other network simcard in your device, however, it is very illegal to change any IMEI of a handset . the only reason really that anyone would want to do this is if a handsert is stolen and someone tries to change the imei before the block signal is sent to that device.

It's not only the reason !!!
There are many people having problems with registering their IMEI in Service provider maybe for sudden draft law, so they can't use their device in network if they buy it from another country !

in which case the draft laws mean that it's ilegal

Whatever the legality (and it's not legal), you will not find the information here so please stop asking

Doesn't this forum have Moderators ? so if my thread is illegal , they can delete it and ... , otherwise why you are wasting time and forum bandwidth with not related answers to the question ?

forgive me if im wrong but i dont believe this can be done for the hermes... well at least i havent read about it...

Probably no one will tell you here because, as I understand it, changing the IMEI is illegal.
If the phone works, why change it. If the IMEI is blocked then the phone is probably stolen... Just return it and buy your own.

I known it's illegal, but I find out when I update my radio to 1.41.00.10 from 1.27, my IMEI number have be modified, I don't known why, so, I will modify the numbers to old numbers, because I have a lot of software are registered by old IMEI number.

I go and download the XDA manipulator, but, I haven't the serial cable, I have USB cable, this software cannot be used.

Most software registration codes are tied to the "Name" under Settings... Owner Information... Identification... or possibly the "Device ID" under Settings.. System... About... -- not to the IMEI.
I'd check these first before you cause yourself too much heartburn...

I'm betting this guy flashed one of the weird WM6 builds that changed the device id's on a few phones. We saw a lot of problems with TomTom, SlingPlayer, and some other apps because of this.
If the user above flashes back to WM5, or to the absolute latest WM6 builds, it will go back to the 'old' hardware id.
But yeah; I've never seen any software tied to the IMEI. Sometimes I wish it was (I'd be happy if it would tie to the IMSI, personally)...

no contact name in sms !

hi there.. can anyone help me there ? i just bought artemis and installed wm6 original rom on it... but i got a problem with the contact name in sms,, whenever some one sends me a msg it doesnt show his/her name.. it shows the number only , like if the contact is not there on my device ! i dont know about the last rom if it was working fine because i didnt use it.. if some one calls it works fine..if i send sms the name appears in sent msgs ! just with the sms inbox ! please help i'll lose my mind ( and maybe my device !) if i didnt find a solution !
i tried to hard reset my device couple of times ! no use ! the problem persists !
i discovered something, if the contact that is sending me is saved with the the area code (+###real number) it will show him ! does that mean i have to re write my whole contact list ? or any one can help ?
above that if i added the area number the caller id wont appear !

i found the solution thank god !

it had to do with registries,
in the hkcu --> controlpanel --> phone
there's an entry called "callIDMatch" and was set to numer 8, while my country phone numbers consists of 7 digits, so i changed it to 7 and it worked greatly .. "schaps advance config" can do it too..
let me know if i wasnt clear or there's something wrong..

I have been trying to find out my device id but till now no success !!
I have also tried "device.zip" which is available here in this forum but still now luck
When i used the device.zip and ran the file it got

I have already tired the system~about~device id
There it tells me my name as device id "jagdesh" but when i try to enter this into any app which needs my device id to unlock its says invalid
On my windows media center it says "Jagdesh's HTC Touch Pro 2"
So how can i find my device id ...help please!!

To find the device ID just hit: Start-->Settings-->About-->Device ID.
However, that probably doesn't matter, because it sounds like the apps probably need the "Owner Name", not the Device ID. You can find that by going: Start-->Settings-->Personal-->Owner Information.

Let me try registering the app with my owner info...
I will let you know it that works
But how can i find my Device ID if i want when i am not able to with the methods above

What do you mean? Doesn't that method work for you? That gets you straight to the info you're asking for.

Try search for enableownerinfo, think its a cab for your problem. I had the same problem but cant remember if it was that cab who solved the issue, but you can try...

settings --- all settings --- Today --- Items --- uncheck htc Sense --- check owner info --- ok --- go to homepage --- click tap here to set owner info ---

Googled it and installed it now..
But i am not sure if this is what i want
See i am trying to install some apps and when i try to register the it asks me my device id which i dont know how to get that!!
Anyways i will try this method and let you know if this works

But like i said i do think that Device Id is the same has owner's name .. maybe its some number or something
I read it somewhere that a device id is something which never changes its bunch of numbers and alphabets
Its not the same has IMEI or S/N number ..
Anyways will let you guys know of the results soon

Hello Jagdesh, greetings from the Netherlands where this HTC Touch Pro 2 is driving me crazy in may ways. One of them is not being able to find the Device ID. Did you find it at last?
And if so, can you tell me where these HTC people have hidden it?

Here's the answer, credit to HTC support the netherlands: look under the battery. There it is. ID starts starts with "HT"

Hi Jagdish,
I faced the same problem you did. I found owner information icon when i bought the phone. Later when I hard reset i dont find it.
you might have solved the problem. for others here is a way to go to owner information. This is the way I did.
Installed TouchShell. On the TouchShell desktop screen tap and hold and goto settings > About tab > Registration > beside the owner id, click Edit tab. You are there.

I would edit your message and remove your IMEI and Serial Number if I were you. There are those who would be willing to use your information for their own gain. I THINK this is the ROM, Not positive, but it's what people were saying is it.
