[Q] Paranoid Android Feature List? - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III

I'm wondering about what exactly paranoid Android actually does besides hybrid, what kernel it comes with, and what android version it is. (4.x) The same for PAC man rom as well. These roms sound great but I still want to make sure I'm using what's up to date.
Cheers.

Go nuts and flash away! That's the only way you'll find out

Best place to find your answer would be in the PA Thread.... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1818793
This is typically where you will find the best info. Read a bit, Or flash and see what you can find.. And for PACman rom, It's in teh same location..

Found a possible option to create a MIUI rom for i927

Hi everyone,
I just bought an i927, and I'm really looking forward to installing some custom ROMs. Above all, I'd love to see a MIUI rom for this device. MIUI is hands down my favorite Android flavor. What do you think about these instructions for creating a "MIUI PatchROM"?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1483332It looks to me like it should be possible to MIUI-ify an existing stable ROM for the i927 with this method. What do you think?
Thanks, cheers.
interesting if you will to do this I would recommend you use the "[07.06.12]Osimood v2.06.07" ROM as that one is based off of 2.35 and has all bloat removed. Will make for a good starting point for you. you can find it at this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1462298 good luck and I hope you get it working MIUI is a nice looking ROM

That would be interesting, but it's dated february and based on GB.
I think we should consider basing it on ICS: CM9 is coming, it should be easier (assuming CM9 works well).
Hmm, I was also wondering if those instructions would work for ICS too. I know that MIUI is currently running with the ICS base on other devices.
As for me, I doubt I have the skills to pull this off.
Is this still stands? It would be really cool to have MIUI v4 on the glide!
Someone recently mentioned wanting to give it a try in the CM10 topic, so it seems it's on!

Unfortunately I think I'm too dumb to follow those sketchy instructions that I linked to, which assume a huge amount of knowledge of the Android base system and its frameworks. But, for those who have already created ROMs for the i927 or even other devices, I suspect it would be relatively easy.
I though I'd look into trying this! I'll need some help from some willing dev' s and Linux gurus!
So far I have followed the instructions from get hub, synced the patchrom. Following the command to adb pull "stockrom.zip" from my glide is getting errors and won't make the zip.
I'm currently running the new UCLJ3 ics update that is rooted, deodexed, and zipaligned, with litekernel v1.1. I'll have to redo the adb pull to get the error, can't remember what it was. It was at the end when it was about to make the zip.
If anyone is willing to help, I'll post the exact error later tonight after work!

ive been using pro bam 4.3 rom and it has been great. except for battery running out a little fast but am giving it a few days for the rom to settle in!
PA 3.99
I have been messing around with a lot of 4.3 roms and pretty much all of them have the same stability. As for me, I prefer PA (Paranoid Android) 3.99 and PAC Rom but more toward PA 3.99 because it just seem slightly less buggy and bit smoother. Again, to each their own at this point since there is no official 4.3 for this device.

I've been using Hellybean , always you the latest, no issues. Love it.
As others have said its really just a preference thing. I have been trying out a few different ROMs, just to see which ones I like the most, especially 4.3 versions. I have been using [ROM] Unofficial | CyanogenMod 10.2 | Diablo Kernel [09-23-13] from ThdDude for the past day or two and havent had any issues to speak of. I really like that it has the Diablo Kernel compiled. I have noticed though that for some reason when I was trying to Flash 4.3 ROMs with CWM the system would boot but then go black and would have to go into recovery. I finally decided to give TWRP a try and havent experienced any problems flashing 4.3 ROMs. I have actually really been enjoying it and have some real respect for the developers.
stable 4.3 roms
The best I have used is the 9/26 aokp by whitehawkz along with uber kernel. Running 2.6.3.0 twrp. Especially like the active notifications with no problems.
There is no BEST and yet they are all the BEST. Members are expected to research and read through the development threads before altering their device. The only thing you will get here is a list of all the ROM's because every member has found what is best for them. You can get the same list by looking at the first few pages in development.
Thread closed.
Have a great day!

Which Rom are you running and why?

Tell everyone which Rom you're running and what you do or don't like about it. I figured the thread would be nice for people looking for roms to try and hear personal experiences with them instead of just a description.
I tried pacman last night but screwed something up (there is an insane amount of options) and went back to stock for now. I know how to change what I did no so I'll probably reflash later. Happy flashing!!
Nothing yet, but definitely Venom/Viper when available for Verizon One. I had the HTC One for a bit and was able to try many. This one just plain out rocks. You can see a thread about it just a few down from this. Watch the video about it as well. So many mods, tweaks etc and just plain out runs...
I'm currently running v2 of hawknest ' EclipticONE. It is based off the stock rom so it runs 4.2.2 and sense 5 with tweaks. It is *inverted sense*. I love it there because of the dark colors of everything. It is very stable with only slight issues so far with the play store but nothing that can't be fixed!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=46261233
Currently running CM10.2 and I like it a lot. I've used AOSP on my previous 3 smartphones. Everything is working great for me except I cannot get a GPS lock whatsoever. The fix according to some forum posts would be to flash a Sense ROM to get a lock and reflash CM. I'm going to flash GPE to play around and see how that is.
running CM10.2 until Liquid can gett calls working on that rom. I much prefer liquid (a couple more tweaks) but I need my phone to be a phone
PAC-Man here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2455127
I really like some of the features from Paranoid, and this is the closest to getting them. Plus I have a soft spot for the mix type of Roms, having a similar one on my HP Touchpad.
I just installed and am setting up VanirAOSP. So far, so good. I tried CM 10.2 yesterday but it was a little flaky. I'm looking forward to trying Venom.
Also running EclipticONE. Love the inverted sense and I really wanted to keep the stock camera since I'm crazy about the zoe feature. Using Apex Launcher anyway so blinkfeed is not an issue for me. The ROM has been zippy and bug free.
VanirAOSP because it has PIE, Halo, and IR blaster support. I absolutely love this ROM. Plus, Sonic is the dev behind it and he is quite awesome!

I flashed that last night and titanium didn't want to restore my apps for some reason. I'll flash it again when I have more time to mess with it. Great posts people!!
I'm running BoneStock v1.1 by andybones. Cuz I'm cool like that. I tend to flash Roms like a madman but BoneStock is my daily driver.

You have to change the backup folder first in Settings > General > Preferences to /storage/sdcard0/TitaniumBackup.

Hmm. They restored fine on pacman last night. Any idea why it would restore on pacman and not vanir?

No clue. Maybe because Vanir is built off AOSP while PAC is built off CM? That's a stretch though.
I'm running Vanir at the moment. Very simple, great customization options and everything works well without any major hitches.
Looking forward to trying out Carbon soon; loved the ROM on my DNA and would love to see how it fares on the One.

Titanium backed up fine on stock ROM, and Bonestock, but also would not backup on Vanir's ROM for me either.

Vanir is going to be different than stock ROM and Bonestock in regards to TiBu. Vanir is on 4.3 AND it is built off AOSP. You need to change the backup folder for those ROMs otherwise it will not work. I just cant remember if changing the backup folder is because of 4.3 or because its built off AOSP. Its one of those (or both).
As I posted in the CM10 thread:
FYI - I learned that there's an issue with restoring apps with Titanium Backup and Android 4.3. You have to change your backup location to: /storage/emulated/legacy/TitaniumBackup from /storage/emulated/0/TitaniumBackup otherwise your restore will get stuck at 0%.

I believe he said closest to vanilla KitKat, not to the stock Samsung ROM!
Looks like CM11 is the best option at this point, not sure how far along it is in development yet.

Android 4.4 Rom? AOKP possibly

Hi, I'm sorry if this is not the spot to post this but i am looking for an android 4.4 rom for my verizon galaxy nexus. I want to use AOKP but they took down the 4.4 rom for this phone and it bums me out as i also want to use franco kernal and AOKP was the only rom that supported it. I wanted to either use AOKP or and old version of Cyanogenmod and LineageOS only has version 13 of their roms and i think they are Android 6.0. I have had performance issues on anything Android 5.0 and higher and Android 4.2.2 Official release no longer supports some of the apps that i use. Any help would be nice as Android 4.4 is kinda the sweet spot for this phone and I had the same issue with my Droid Razr. Found an old Cyanogenmod android 4.4 rom for it and its perfect. Any help would be nice. Thank you!

OMG Thank You!! People on reddit want to complain that kitkat is unsecure. Yea i know and i am willing to live with it though. their website only has old jellybean roms for this phone and i wanted kitkat. I wish they had one for the Droid Razr but sadly they dont but i did find an old Cyanogenmod rom for it and that worked. I have also noticed that they run better on kitkat. LineageOS has BAD performance issues on these old devices. Thanks Again!

I do agree with you KitKat provides the best performance on these legacy 1GB memory phones but I would recommend that you use one of the two most recently updated ROMs (unlegacy android / omni), both from 2018 rather than these almost four-year-old ROMs...

So whats the difference with Tune and toro? sometimes i see it called tuna and other times toro????
There were three main variants of the GNex. The US carrier-specific ones were toro and toroplus, while the rest of the world were all maguro (despite there being many different model numbers). All three are subsets of tuna. The various custom ROM communities have tried to unify their builds as much as possible, so even where final builds are still separate, a lot of what's inside them is generic tuna.

No idea, sorry. I went from stock 4.3 to LineageOS 13 (equivalent to 6.0.1) late last year because of the Krack and BlueBorne exploits. It's my only phone, and until I get another I have no wish to switch to something else. (My usage is pretty light, so I just put up with the occasional reboot.) In hindsight, I probably should have checked out the 4.4 possibilities, but LOS was the best known custom ROM, so that's what I chose.

I currently use a Droid turbo but have a Droid razr and want to have a galaxy nexus both on KitKat in case I need to use either. I have a Droid Maxx but I broke the volume buttons on it. I had them fixed but they can break again and I just don't want to take the risk. Also because I broke them I won't be selling the phone.
