I believe he said closest to vanilla KitKat, not to the stock Samsung ROM!
Looks like CM11 is the best option at this point, not sure how far along it is in development yet.

I own this phone and a Note 3 but I use my epic just to flash just because. My question to the community is do you think that there will be a 4.4 Rom for this ancient phone since KitKat runs better on Low end devices also?
We need devoted devs, time and (possibly) a 3.4 kernel.

If you check the development section, you will find that BBelos has got an unofficial CM 11 (Andriod 4.4 kitkat) ROM out. I've loaded it on my Epic & so far it is working good. Check it out,

I'm having a couple problems with cm 11.0 the sign in screen is partially blacked out, also save to sd card is broken. The apps disappear after a reboot.
Yep, it's still alittle buggy, that's why its an unofficial. It's not really ready as a daily driver, but for a bleeding edge 1st shot, it's a really good job. Kudos to BBelos for getting it out so quick. Most old phones are still hoping for KitKat.
cyanogen 11 good enough
Found out that if things don't work on first try reflash again without wipe then everything is good
Do you think this will be an easy port to bring a ROM to our T-Mobile devices, or will we need a radio update (like the TW 4.3 ROMs are requiring)?

I think it will be an easy port.
There are already 4.4 roms for the S4 coming out. All of the custom roms like CM and AOKP are ultimately based on the 4.4 source.

Sweet! That's what I assumed as well. I won't say I can't wait because I can, but I am certainly anxious. Kit Kat runs very lovely on my Nexus 7 'S, both 2012 & 2013.
Hey guys,
I possibly may get a Note 2 and just have a quick question regarding the AOSP Roms here.
Looking through the threads, it seems like the AOSP Roms are doing very well and very stable.
Am I correct with this and is there anything I should know? I love AOSP Roms very much lol.
Also I didn't find the rooting thread, is it easy to root?
Thanks!!!!!
Is there anybody out there? lol
Rooting is easy If you use the Galaxy note 2 toolbox in the development thread. Not sure about the asop roms. not really a fan.http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1957155

Great, thanks!
I am mainly asking about AOSP Roms because that's the only thing I use lol.
cm11 and omnirom work great esp with xposed. No issues. However the update to kk is kind of a one way thing due to the changes in storage mount points.
tapa_talk 4 sucks

Actually that statement is far from true. I bounce between 4.2.2, 4.3, 4.4.2 aosp and 4.1.2, 4.3 touchwiz all the time.
The thing is that you have to wipe your internal sdcard. Actually I wipe mine every time I flash any rom even if they are the same version. A clean flash will always give you the best results.
One place to check

I just go the LG G3 and I unlocked and rooted it. Now I'm looking for a custom rom. I see there are quite a few 5.0 roms but since there is no official source, all these ROMS are pure Android and I am looking for one which has LG customization (as I really like them). I would like to know what's currently the "best" (and stable rom) for D851?

What's been most stable for me and what I consider the "best" has been SkyDragon Rom here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=57862770&postcount=973
Along with the Dev's custom kernel too: http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-lg-g3/orig-development/kernel-skydragon-v0-0-3-t2847017

None of the stock KK Roms have been updated in awhile. I think Devs are waiting on LP to be released. Once you flash it, you'll see that there's not too much to update anyways. No reason to update Roms if there's nothing new to add.

Yep, I've actually ran both. IMO, Skydragon Rom just runs a little smoother and also with the SR Remix Rom, I was having all sorts of issues with being able to edit/delete files using any kind of File Explorer app. You'll notice in the thread for that Rom, that a lot of people were having that issue. With Skydragon Rom, I don't have that issue at all so that's also a main reason that I'm on Skydragon.
They're both pretty comparable though so pretty much just personal preference. I also like the fact that the Dev for Skydragon builds his own kernels too.

Thanks for the info. I will check out the Skydragon ROM.
Installed SkyDragon earlier today and so far everything seems to be working great. Though I wouldn't have mind at least some customization because after the first boot for few minutes I was confused if the rom was actually installed it not.
Scribbled on LG G3.
Hi, I'm sorry if this is not the spot to post this but i am looking for an android 4.4 rom for my verizon galaxy nexus. I want to use AOKP but they took down the 4.4 rom for this phone and it bums me out as i also want to use franco kernal and AOKP was the only rom that supported it. I wanted to either use AOKP or and old version of Cyanogenmod and LineageOS only has version 13 of their roms and i think they are Android 6.0. I have had performance issues on anything Android 5.0 and higher and Android 4.2.2 Official release no longer supports some of the apps that i use. Any help would be nice as Android 4.4 is kinda the sweet spot for this phone and I had the same issue with my Droid Razr. Found an old Cyanogenmod android 4.4 rom for it and its perfect. Any help would be nice. Thank you!

OMG Thank You!! People on reddit want to complain that kitkat is unsecure. Yea i know and i am willing to live with it though. their website only has old jellybean roms for this phone and i wanted kitkat. I wish they had one for the Droid Razr but sadly they dont but i did find an old Cyanogenmod rom for it and that worked. I have also noticed that they run better on kitkat. LineageOS has BAD performance issues on these old devices. Thanks Again!

I do agree with you KitKat provides the best performance on these legacy 1GB memory phones but I would recommend that you use one of the two most recently updated ROMs (unlegacy android / omni), both from 2018 rather than these almost four-year-old ROMs...

So whats the difference with Tune and toro? sometimes i see it called tuna and other times toro????
There were three main variants of the GNex. The US carrier-specific ones were toro and toroplus, while the rest of the world were all maguro (despite there being many different model numbers). All three are subsets of tuna. The various custom ROM communities have tried to unify their builds as much as possible, so even where final builds are still separate, a lot of what's inside them is generic tuna.

No idea, sorry. I went from stock 4.3 to LineageOS 13 (equivalent to 6.0.1) late last year because of the Krack and BlueBorne exploits. It's my only phone, and until I get another I have no wish to switch to something else. (My usage is pretty light, so I just put up with the occasional reboot.) In hindsight, I probably should have checked out the 4.4 possibilities, but LOS was the best known custom ROM, so that's what I chose.

I currently use a Droid turbo but have a Droid razr and want to have a galaxy nexus both on KitKat in case I need to use either. I have a Droid Maxx but I broke the volume buttons on it. I had them fixed but they can break again and I just don't want to take the risk. Also because I broke them I won't be selling the phone.
