As stated in the title, my device is having battery issues. I tried posting in the dev thread for the rom I *was* running, thinking it was a problem with the ROM but it turns out it isn't. I'm seeing the battery randomly report 0% and the phone instantly shutting down. I am then able to reboot, and every reboot will show a gradually increasing battery level, from 0% to 70%. I am currently running the P.A.C. rom, but I was running the CM10 port by dman. I was originally told this issue could be from a misbehaving 3rd party app, but I am running brand new P.A.C. without any 3rd party apps installed.
Here's a picture of my battery stats from CM10. PAC is the second one.

I've read that it may be a mis-calibrated battery meter, but I've done multiple charge cycles since this issue has begun. If anyone can shed some light on this, I'd really appreciate it. This device is my daily driver, despite running development roms.
I myself have noticed my battery is losing its charge on its own. I charge it to 100% then remove it from the phone and put it back in 6 hours later and it is down to 90%. I bought some other batteries from ebay and they keep their charge when not in use so I think my original battery is dieing. I recommend you do the same test and see if it could be your battery.
I'm thinking my battery may be faulty but the weirdest part is that it rarely fails outside of school. Whenever I'm home it lasts hours on end, but the moment I get to school it starts freaking out. It's probably just coincidence, which is why I didn't mention it in the OP. Just wondering, dudejb, when did you get your phone? Mines under a year old.
EDIT: Uh... well, the phone was acting odd, with the screen blacking out, so I pulled the battery, and the phone was running without a battery (plugged in) for about 40 seconds, and it didn't detect the battery was removed. Then it crashed. I'm seeing weirder and weirder things happening with this phone... D:
EDIT 2: Well, it crashed, rebooted by itself, and has now been stuck in a boot loop for the past 20 minutes. :I And I still have 2 years until I can upgrade my phone...
Last year around this time December. DO you have bad reception at school. this can effect the battery as it keeps looking for a signal.

In some areas, but none of those areas are where it dies. Actually, you can see in the battery stats picture (the PACman rom one) That I have a good signal when it drops. The mobile signal bar is green when it drops.
Well, I've managed to cause it to reboot itself while streaming the logcat to my desktop via ADB, and the original error is completely blown out of the buffer before I can cancel the output. :/
Well, simply as an update, I rarely used my device today, and I had 0 battery issues. I had the clockspeed gov set to conservative, and only lightly used the phone (calulator, calendar, etc.). Battery was 60% when I got home after approx 8 hours off charge, instead of needing to be recharged after 5 hours. I don't know what I did, but it seems my specific phone is just unstable under heavy use. :/
Hello.
I have exactly the same problem. Everything is ok if I don't use the phone, but if I listen music, play a game or surf the battery indicator can go instantly from a XX % to 0%. This issue started with the coming of cold here, maybe the battery is dead ?
It is impossible to restart the phone after, unless I plug it. When I reboot it, some time it indicate 0%, sometimes the same XX% before it shutdown.
Sometimes when I plug it, during a short time, the XX% decrease (!!!) instead of increase.
I tried to recalibrate the battery with CWM : no change.
Edit 14 January 2013
I just got my new battery, everything is ok now.
Same problem here as well. I'm planning on getting a replacement battery to see if it will fix anything.

I'm blaming the prob at the battery! my wife's phone is having the dame prob, switched batteries to mine and now I have the issue!!
she would never let the phone fully charge, it would go till maybe 5 to 10% then she'd charge it to 50% and go again! I'm thinking that broke the battery! mine lives on the charger at night. usually last me all day sometimes it's only at 40 to 50% by the end of the day, when I get ready to sleep, it goes on the charger!! done all my phones this way and they last! never had to replace a battery!.
Of course this is only the 2nd half computer half phone I've had!
The battery is the issue I just bought a new hyperion battery 3500hz and its fixed my issue
---------- Post added at 04:54 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:51 PM ----------
The damn phone kept saying it was still good and I just couldn't figure it out but that damn battery was the issue after all... so just buy her a new battery, I got this one for about $18.00 and its already doing so much better and charging like it would normally

How's it charging the extended batteries? I'm looking at a pair of 3800ma batteries on eBay going for about $18. The come with new back covers too!
Thanks

Its using the same charger I had to begin with it just takes a longer time, I charged last night and was on facebook all night forgot to close out, made several calls and been online and only down to 64% right now. The size of the backplate makes the slide out keyboard easier to use as well, my big hands find using it easier now.

I had the same behavior and it was in fact specific to my battery. I have three batteries, so it took me a while to single it out but after worrying it was the rom(s) I found that it was just the one battery, which was an OEM and not one of my cheap chinese ebay ones. I would give a new battery a try for sure.

Exactly. It is unusual that the battery status seems off by ics or gingerbread.. it was concerning until I zeroed in on the problem.
It is likely the battery.
My wife's phone just began having this exact same problem. She is running the newest ATT ROM, no mods, no root, nothing. It began about a week ago. The battery will be at 65%, then all of a sudden, 0%. Leave it off for a bit, turn it back on, and it's at 30%. I've also noticed it's draining really fast. Went from 90% to 50% in the span of half an hour.
I was going to try a calibration or even a hard reset, but from what I'm reading here, this is a battery issue? She doesn't want an extended battery, and still has six months until her upgrade. Any suggestions for a fairly cheap aftermarket? No way I'm getting an OEM replacement with the original having this problem. Sounds like the control circuit is fried.
I can confirm that it is the battery. I had to replace mine and I was one month past my warranty.
My battery was swollen. Take the battery out and put it on a wooden desk. Spin it like you would as a bottle (spin the bottle game type spinning). If it spins, yours is too. At&t will replace (for free) it as its a common issue if you're under warranty. If not, you will have to buy one yourself.

Mine was one month past too. Easy solution: went to the retailer we originally got it from, bought one (a Glide) outright, swapped the battery, and returned it (the Glide). By the time this battery fails, she'll have an upgrade.
Same issue some months later with my new official battery.
In the same time, screen is gone crazy like it was being controlled by other people than myself...
I will order an extended battery on eBay now...

I've read a bunch of threads but haven't found a solution to my particular problem.
I've had my Nexus since April, and all was fine until about 3-4 weeks ago when I noticed that no matter how long I left the phone charging it wouldn't go past 88%. Getting married in August and working a lot of overtime, I have been frustrated by this issue but have done nothing about it, so over time I've been watching as it was maxing out at 84%, then 80% then 76%, 74%, 72%, 70%...it now will not charge past 66% and by the end of the week it will probably be 62%!
So, I have tried three different chargers (one that came with Nexus, the one tht came with my fiancee's HTC One X, and a no name). I have replaced the battery (a friend has the same phone with a spare battery). Nothing changes. This is clearly not the "well it reaches 100% and then stops charging even while plugged in to save the battery" thing that most threads talk about. It's not the charger and it's not the battery.
It's the phone (or the software). I'm not positive I even understand what "rooting" a phone is so it's safe to say that it is not rooted. It is an out of the box Galaxy Nexus that has only had official updates (currently running Jelly Bean but the problem did begin before it updated from ICS).
I'm praying for a solution as I bought the phone in Hong Kong, and therefor cannot return it.

Well it's not exactly like I bought it from a mom and pop shop or from the guy with a suitcase on the corner. It was purchased from Fortress, which is a subsidiary of Hutchison Whampoa which is an international conglomerate that operates in the US, Canada, and all over Europe as well. Don't confuse Hong Kong with mainland China, there is no difference in quality between this phone and one purchased in USA
Did battery calibration help at all? I'm starting to think that either the software is showing a wrong percentage (which in case you can calibrate it) or you have to get it checked.

I downloaded a calibration app, and realized the phone needs to be rooted. The app said that it would only calibrate the phone when it was in a 100% charged state.
The default battery meter said 66%, app called power circle said 66%, and the battery calibration app said 66%

Ok you can calibrate the battery status by draining the battery until the power turns off and then just turn it on again (while charging obviously) and then charge it to the max and then hopefully it charges to 100%

Oh, ya I definitely did that, more than once, with both batteries. I let it completely die on it's own (which isn't hard as the battery life is noticeably shorter since it won't charge all the way). I also let it drain to 1% and then charged it full. I tried draining until it shut itself off and then charging it full while it was shut off, and then again with it powered on during charging. Whether on or off, it continues to tell me it is charging, but never reaches higher than the numbers i posted above (currently 66%).

you can still calibrate your battery with this app

it definitely sounds like a software issue to me
I'm having exactly the same problem. My phone was purchased in a different country and had several different firmwares (we've used it for kernel development) so it's not under warranty anymore.
At some point I flashed the stock firmware (it was 4.0.2 back then) from Google's website and started using it as a normal phone. Everything was fine until at some point (somewhere in September) I noticed it stopped charging past 89%. After that I saw this figure go all the way down to 39% and that's where it is now. It charges to 39 within an hour or so, then the charging status while being plugged says "not charging". If I leave it like this it can go to 60 over a few more hours, in this case if I go into charging status I can sometimes see "Charging (USB)" which basically means lower charging current (seems like some kind of trickle charge situation).
I think that it started after I saw a different charging glitch (that one is quite popular on the Internet) - when the phone doesn't see that it's plugged I fixed that one with bending the USB "tongue".
I've tried switching the battery with a properly working GN phone - my device sees a different charge level than the working phone. The working phone had shown 95% on my battery and 90% on its own battery. My phone had shown somewhat like 35 and 30 respectively.
I've tried multiple different stock firmwares (4.1, 4.1.1, 4.2.1). I've tried full reset with data wipe and clean firmware load a number of times. I've tried battery stats reset, battery pull, full discharge (in bootloader and another phone) - nothing helps.
It looks like the phone detects the current battery charge incorrectly and while the circuitry prevents the battery from overcharging and turns off charging when the battery is at full capacity, the software for some reason sees 39% instead of 99% and thus turns off the phone when it sees 0 (and it's really somewhere around 60%).
The two things that I haven't tried were flashing a different kernel (CM? AOKP?) and replacing the USB port board.
I don't want to mess around with different kernels because I don't really believe that it'll help, but I did order the USB board.
I'd appreciate if someone with similar problem shared their experiences.
P.S.: Just took my *#*#4636#*#* battery info screen: it sees that it's at 24%, sees that it's plugged into AC and it's not charging.

Everyone's seems to have gone through every possible combination of chargers, batteries, roms, kernels...idk to me it's just freaky that these threads (which i never recall seeing ANY outlining the same issue) suddenly are popping up. Mine started soon after i flashed my first 4.2 rom. my battery info also reports similarly to what others are saying (good health, 100 scale, 3.9v). i just think its very strange that more and more people are complaining of this.
another side note, whenever im using my phone while its plugged in, the battery seems to drain pretty quickly (even though it is saying ac-charging). anyone else getting this too?

Hey, thanks for pointing out those threads, looks like they all describe the same issue. I guess, a moderator needs to unite them or something.
When I'm using an AC plugged phone - the battery drain seems to be of similar scale as charging in WiFi web browsing scenario. If I'm streaming a high-res video over WiFi, sometime the drain is higher than charge rate and it dies even being plugged, saw that a couple of times.
If I'm using it as a GPS in a car, it drains faster than it charges with a regular auto charger (not sure of its amperage), however I haven't checked this scenario before the problems with charge started.
To address my experience with the issues mentioned in other threads:
- I tried my stock battery in another gnex that doesn't have the problem - that phone saw a different charge level in my battery from what my phone had been showing. Also my phone had shown incorrect value for the other battery which leads me to believe that it's not a battery issue.
- I had the thought that dirt and dust in the connections might be an issue. I disassembled the phone (following this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6sD6LRfJHSk), checked and cleaned all the connections (not with alcohol, though). Except for the inside of the USB port all the internals were pretty clean to begin with. The procedure didn't solve the problem.
Now, the only suspect I have remaining is the charging circuitry. I have ordered this part http://cnn.cn/shop/samsung-i9250-galaxy-nexus-microusb-connector-flex-cable-p-15348.html (also available on ebay) and will see if it will solve the problem. Luckily it's fairly easy to replace, requires no soldering (though it does require to disassemble the phone completely).

Really hoping you figure this out. After spending far too long trying to fix mine, I broke down and replaced it. It is currently a paper-weight. When plugged in it says it is charging, but won't go past 0%. I plugged it in on the weekend for approx 30 hours and upon unplugging it immediately shut down. I have an external battery charger and two batteries and I can charge the battery full and put it back in the phone and it will still say 0%.
If it means anything to anybody, this problem starting happening to my phone when it was in stock condition (hadn't been unlocked or rooted) but after it was updated to 4.2 through the standard consumer method of updating.

Well I've finally given up. I broke down and bought another battery on amazon (samsung verizon oem one) with near certainty it wouldn't help. It didn't. I've been running stock now and I'm going into the Verizon store tomorrow to see what they can do (if anything). I'm sure they will give me the run around though (oh its probably just the battery etc).

Same story for me. Exact same issue. Ive flashed roms (CM, PA, Unique, Minco) and the issue does not go away. I did change the USB board. It did not help. I think too that the circuitry prevents the battery from overcharging. Battery Indicator App says FULLY CHARGED even when android reports 0% charge.

Got my USB board today, replaced it and it didn't help. Short of changing the mainboard, I'm out of ideas
I'm having this same problem. Purchases a Nexus off Craiglist the other day (with forwarning of this battery problem) and figured I could fix it easily with a new ROM or by wiping battery stats. Unfortunately nothing I try seems to have any effect. I've used different batteries and charged them fully with an external charger. As soon as I put them in this phone they read 64%. So Frustrating!!!!
Hey guys,
I've tried Googling this problem but haven't found any real info or a solution. I have a Verizon Galaxy Nexus with the official 210o mAh battery. For the life of me, I can't get it to charge anywhere close to 100%, not even 95%. It seems to stop right at 89%. I'll leave it on the charger at night and when I wake up, it's always showing 89%. If I go into the battery info , it will say 89% not charging. Is there any way I can get it to charge into the 90's? I'm sure it's not a software issue since I've seen this on AOKP b40 and M6 as well as Jelly Belly 3.4 and 3.9.
Wipe battery stats, re calibrate the battery, it could be a kernel problem, completly drain battery and recharge to full with phone turned off. These would be my course of actions. If all else fails maybe replace the battery.

Thanks. I've tried different kernels (faux, franco, trinity, lean) and I still see the problem. I haven't tried wiping battery stats/recalibrating since I've read it doesn't really do anything, but I guess it's worth a shot.

If this phone is anything like the SGS2 wiping stats does nothing.

It might just be the battery itself, I wouldn't know what else to do

It might be. I might put in the standard battery tonight, charge it up and see if it hits 100% (or as close as it will get to 100%) when I wake up in the morning.
You can't calibrate a battery and wiping stats does nothing...

OK, so I'm seeing the same issue with the standard 1850 mAh battery. Stuck at 89% on the charger and the battery stats says "not charging" while it's on the charger. I've tried the standard Gnex OEM charger, my wife's SGS3 charger and my old Droid X charger and all say the same thing. So strange...

Maybe an issue with the connect port? Do you just rip the cord out?
No, of course not. Plus, if it was an issue with the micro USB connection, wouldn't it simply not charge altogether?

I had an old Droid X that wouldnt charge past a certain point but I could fully charge my battery in my girlfriends X with the same charger so i dunno
Tested on different phones
Here's my issue I got since I rooted and flashed JRO03C Jelly Bean Rom.
Since then I've tried many roms, battery calibration (that I learned, does nothing), tried many "fixes" like disabling everything while charging, realingning the usb pins...
The fact is that : My battery is actually charged 100%, but shows from 74% to 86% (depending on the rom).
If I take my battery and put it in another Galaxy Nexus that hasn't been rooted, it gets 100%.
If I take a 100% battery from that unrooted Galaxy Nexus and put it in mine, it shows only 74% to 86%.
Sometimes, the battery gains % while I use it (It's a 74% when It's not charging anymore, half an hour later it shows 76%)
I don't seem to have lost any life time, but here's the problem as I see it.
Either my phone cannot properly analyse de output of the battery, or there is sont slack connectors inside the phone that actually dont get 100% output from the battery.
Take it to Verizon, show them, and they will give you a replacement.
I'm having the same issue as the OP, my battery was fine until about a few weeks ago. Nothing changed as far as ROM or kernel go. I have the Seidio 3800 though. My phone just refuses to charge completely even when turned off and charging. The animation for charging that last little bit literally stays on forever. I left it on the charger for almost 8 hours after this really started to bug me, and upon turning it on I was greeted with 88% and it quickly dropped to the mid 70%'s where it floats out for a long while. This is my second battery from Seidio, the first didn't work with NFC and charged too 100% just fine. The OEM battery will no longer charge completely either.

Yeah, as relevant as your post is, no. My batteries have all been NFC capable, one was defective and didn't work. I don't even know why you posted all of that, the last two links weren't even relevant to your point. I think the whole NFC token thing is fooey anyway.
The issue at hand here is my battery life being miserable and reported very incorrectly for virtually no reason at all.
Relevant because it also has to do with chargers used if they don't have same voltage as original or it messes up the nfc. Just saying the batteries, phones, and chargers have to be the ones they can with. Also same info on Samsung site, fine print at bottom. Anyway, just trying to help because I had same problem and don't anymore.

I'm using the OEM charger and cable, always have.
Your first link goes to a Verizon image talking about a possible less than stellar experience with NFC on the Gnex with using other batteries. The second link talks about compatibility of batteries between the GSM and CDMA version of the Gnex. The last link isn't even about the Galaxy Nexus, it's the GSII. None of them mention chargers/voltages/messing up NFC.
Edit: Back to the task at hand, I was just wondering if the OP ever got his battery life figured out, or if he just replaced the thing.
I've been troubleshooting this problem for weeks now - have never found a cause. I did a hard reset yesterday and have only installed the mainstream necessary apps - nothing sketchy or buggy at all.
My battery life is usually great and when unused drops less than 1% per hour...until suddenly it goes crazy and starts dropping ~10%/hour with NO USE.
I think perhaps something is wrong with my radio as the "mobile network signal" graph in the picture below is always spotty and shows the radio off for significant chunks of time when I know it's on. When these battery plunges start happening, it shows the radio as solid on, as you can see below...and reports the battery drain is from the radio.
A reboot fixes it but it comes back randomly within a day or two...the problem is that I can leave the phone unused for an hour to make dinner and when I pick it up next it has dropped a significant amount!
Hopefully AT&T will exchange it for me tomorrow and I will have better luck...I bought it on June 28th and tomorrow is July 28th...the 30th day, by my count.

16hrs on battery and still at 43% is pretty darn good if u ask me.
This has happened to me too on stock and AOKP. Just happened again a couple of hours ago.
So I did the exchange 4 days ago. Have not rebooted since then. Thought I was in the clear until this afternoon when the battery started to plummet again...I updated the screenshots in the first post with today's data. Very disappointed and not sure what to do now except to try and do a hardware reset and use the phone stock with no apps for a few days and see what happens...

I have used it extensively. Posted numerous logs and screenshots in the developer's thread and had them examine it...no one could figure anything out.
Tonight I have watched it plummet again. I turned off wifi - it kept dropping. I turned off mobile data, it kept falling just as fast. Lastly I turned on airplane mode and it seems to have leveled off...seems to me the phone radio is the culprit but I have no clue what it could be doing!
(Forgive me if I'm hijacking)
I scooped up my SG3 on Sunday, and noticed almost immediately that my battery drops pretty quickly. I haven't rooted yet, and needless to say haven't flashed anything on it. I'm completely bone stock. I guess I'm wondering the same thing, in that I may need to return to AT&T. I lost as much as 70% in almost 8 hours with moderate to heavy use (Web browsing, textibg, a few calls, etc).
Something else: there is an orange sticker on the box it came un, much like a price tag at a retail store. On the sticker it reads: "REMATE 7.11.12" and has me wondering if this is a refurb they unloaded on me. Any ideas about the battery or this stupid aticker?

I notice that my battery life seems very unstable - one day it goes 10 plus hours no problem, the next day with the same usage its dying at 8 hours. The phone went bezerk this weekend, to the point of multiple reboots and just turning the thing off since it was unuseable. Factory reset over the weekend, wow ! Battery life is rocking 12 hours easy with heavy use.
The software on this phone is strange to say the least -

The reason I say this, is because of the fact I've heard of 12 to 14 hours or more of battery with the same (mostly) moderate to (occasional) heavy use. I understand that usage = battery discharge, I'm not a fool.

my battery usually only lasts 12 hours with minimal use, the only way i can go more than 8 hours is if i switch on airplane mode while i know im not going to need my phone.. while at work.

So perhaps I'm worrying over nothing (hopefully). I have been doing full charge to full discharge cycles and charging once it shuts down to "gel" or "season" the battery. But, there still remains the question of what the "REMATE" sticker is all about. It clearly has a date printed on it, which strikes me as odd...

So check out this graph...update of the earlier one.
-turned off wifi - plummet continued.
-turned off mobile data - plummet continued.
-turned on airplane mode to turn off the radio - battery stabilized. You can see the plateau towards the end.
-turned off airplane mode - plummet resumed as you can see.
Any conclusions I can take from this? It seems like it's the phone radio/standby and not apps...

Of course but battery loss is a corollary response to usage. Who made the rules on what moderate or heavy usage is? Besides other factors like strength of signal, etc.
That said I personally average 10-12 hours with 4hrs of screen on time.

Didn't see this mentioned, the stock rom had a cell standby bug where it drops by 32(whatever the measurement is) instead of what's supposed to be 3.2. This has effected me before and there are fixes.

The location for wifi(allowing it to control wifi) is a little funky so I stopped using it(and suffered a little in the beginning because i kept forgetting to turn off wifi at night)

That doesn't explain why the actual battery it dropping so fast. I suppose it could skew the "reason" the system gives for the battery drop...but it's further proven by the fact that the only way to stop the drop is to turn off the radio - even turning off mobile data alone does not stop it at all.

Your sharp drop is correlated to heavy screen on time. Mine is correlated to nothing...just sitting there with the screen off and nothing happening that I can tell.
I reported this problem back in June. This same exact thing happens to mine. Normally the battery is awesome, but sometimes it starts discharging at a crazy rate at which point I restart thee phone to fix it.

That's definitely my problem. When gsiff_daemon hasn't gone crazy the battery life is very good. I've only had the phone 3 days now and on the second found the battery discharging quickly when the phone was in standby (like the OP). I diagnosed this to be caused by gsiff_daemon. Seems to happen after the phone stops responding to input then does a warm restart. I only found one thread on this issue on one of the other S3 forums at XDA (TMo or global?)
Is there any sign of a fix for this? This is making an otherwise excellent phone horrible. I tried to relate this problem to Samsung through their support site, but just got a generic robot answer. Samsung's support site appears to be useless. Is there any indication Samsung is even aware of these problems?
I use System Tuner to check for gsiff_daemon going nuts. I normally notice it because my phone gets hot. If you use the Task Mgr from System Tuner and turn on display of kernel processes, it will pop right to the top if that's your problem.
The easiest way to deal with the problem when you notice it is to kill the process with System Tuner. It will start up again, but will not longer pin your CPU. A restart also works, but takes longer (and uses more battery).
You might also want to set up the Watchdog app to notify you when gsiff_daemon goes nuts.
I noticed you posted BBS logs, but gsiff_daemon will show up in Process, which doesn't appear to be logged (at least it isn't in the log in just dumped from my BBS).

Hi again,
Just about to give up on this tablet when I noticed that it seems to be the battery percentage setting that is causing my charging and discharging issues.
With the setting turned on and the percentage visible, the battery seems to discharge and charge oddly, and also the percentage shown does not reflect the amount shown on the battery icon, or at least it rarely does, but it varies.
With the percentage setting off, the discharge seems much slower and predictable.
If you have a p600, could you possibly try this for me with and without and see if it matches with my findings?
Thanks.
I'm having very odd battery issues myself. I'll give this a try and see if it improves for me.

Thanks for the reply. I'm not using any battery app, just the one that comes with the stock tablet.
I think I did encounter the same thing as you, and also unplugging at 100%, then taking it upstairs and looking and it was 96% or so, and then after a restart, it was 100% again. Very odd, but it doesn't do it for me unless the percentage setting is enabled.

No i suspect my device might have some deeper issue. I can drain the battery from 100% to 0 in an hour of playing games but if i turn off the note and turn it back on, it'll be back at 60% or whatever it's actual battery level is. I can rinse and repeat and slowly get it down to 0. Either way the battery drains much quicker than it should. It could probably only last 6 hours of screen on time with very light usage. I might need to get motherboard or battery replaced.
I am still hoping that its a software glitch and something like this could fix it.

I've had it since it was released in october or november and the battery life used to be good and last 10+ hours and probably 5-6 hours while playing games. Not sure what happened in between. It has taken a few very light drops with no visible damage and i did break (bend) a charge with it in the tablet but the charging port seems normal and still works fine.
Just checked with battery % off for 30 mins and battery dropped 4% which is normal.

Is your unit still rooted????? If so have you tried removing root and installing the most current factory rom.
Have you seen this post "Longer Battery Life (or How You're Being Robbed!)"
It may help some that are having issue with battery drainage but after seeing your post #36 in the BATTERY posting .... I'm leaning towards a cracked or damaged board from the few drops you talked about.

I've tried unrooting and odined back to a factory rom, also cleared my SD cards, nothing helped so i'm back to being rooted for now. I've done a lot of the tweaks to improve battery life but whenever I play games, it just drains like crazy even with minimum brightness. The drops were very very minor, like from 1 foot onto carpet and with a case so I doubt that it was the cause but I guess theres always a chance.
I'm still wondering if I should just live with terrible battery life and stay tethered to a charger or risk sending it back to samsung and having them find out it was rooted and overcharging me for repair. And I love the device so much, I don't know if I'd want to give it up for a week or two.

So, I wonder which is correct, the icon or the percentage? If the percentage is right, my tablet is faulty. If the icon is right, it would seem to be ok.
And all these reviews and people that get 10-12 hours, I guess they went by the icon?

But people and myself use the "Screen on time" as the usage data.

Was doing ok last night and then came here and the battery took a dive. Went and grabbed adblock for firefox and ghostery and ghostery was reporting 65 trackers on this site. Also the malware popups were becoming ridiculous and they only happened here. Going to do a factory reset and not come come here tonight, see if that helps anything.
I did do a bit of a search regarding the malware here, and it was being reported as early as last june it seems.
Hey Guys,
you have also a massiv battery drain on your Pixel Device?
I need to charge it twice a day since I updated to Android 13 ...
Do you think Google will fix it asap?
There are a ton of battery life threads in this section - more than one page of search results. I know battery life has been mentioned with regards to Android 13 in some threads in this section, although I'm not sure if it was in a battery-specific thread.
For what it's worth, I haven't noticed any difference on mine.

Have you checked to see in the battery usage what's using it
I had this problem before. The fix was completely wipe the device then install everything from scratch, not using restore service. Additionally, I putting background restriction on many battery hungry apps like Facebook, Messenger, Google Maps, etc... Also, I'm using Kirisakura kernel on top of battery restriction. My battery can last up to 22-23 hours.

hmmmm, thats a shame, because it is bad enough setting everything back up again after restoring it. But incredible the battery life you are getting.
My phone has Shamesung health app smashing battery, phone idle and and mobile network cosuming huge battery again

Try disabling the Physical Activity permission of the Samsung Health App, it might actually do wonders when it comes to battery life. While it wouldn't affect your watch, your device would no longer be able to count steps [for me, that was worth the trade-off].
the answer is bluetooth and wifi failure and trying to reconnect NONSTOP. after 4 factory resets my phone suddenly doesnt do it anymore and battery life is fine. came to this conclusion when i connected my galaxy watch to my phone and is disconnected every couple minutes. looking at the quick settings id see bluetooth looking like its resetting itself. i didnt check the crash log but at this point its kind of common sense what it was. after some research last night i saw i wasnt the only one. it actually was so bad that my phone died over night even tho it was 43% when i went to sleep

I had my first full day with A13 yesterday and it was hard not to notice how fast the battery was draining, I would have expected this to have been picked up during beta testing
Less than 24 hours since update and I noticed it too.
My Pixel 6 used to be awesome in terms of battery.
But today, after 9 hours it's 30%. It's been some heavy usage, but it should be 50% at least.
Edit: The second day things went back to normal. After 16 hours i'm still at 66%.
The battery drain is bad for the initial 3-4 charge cycles, then it goes back to what was "normal" on A12. Which sucks, since if you listen to YouTube (downloads only, screen off) and use Google Maps while snapping photos (20-30 and no video), the phone will die in less than 8 hours.
In other words, the phone is unfit for travel. Pitty, because the camera is great.
You would think that now that Google has better control over the hardware and complete control over the software (including services), plus a huge 5000mAh battery, the P6P would do far better.
Sure, it's better than my last Pixel, a 3XL, but that was so bad I swore off Pixels.
The iPhone 13 Pro Max lasts twice as long with a much smaller 4353mAh battery. Without having to turn off 5G or regular services. What a joke.
SITREP !
Bluetooth issue still ongoing and still causing the major battery drain. Has 0 to do with what this guy said ^ . Sometimes its OK but most times it just crashed and restarts.
I dont have any of those issues. I guess I got lucky.
43% and it died overnight? Dude that is insane. Even if it is Bluetooth/wifi keeping the phone from truly going into deep sleep, you wouldn't think that alone would be able to completely drain the battery to 0 over the course of what... 5 - 8 hours? (Unless your my ex, then it's more like 14 hours ). Have you pulled any logs or looked at the battery usage? I'd be hesitant to believe that there isn't more going on there contributing to the massive drain. Gotta love google... I remember the first talks of Android 13 was geared towards smarter battery usage. Go figure.
Today my phone has been (and is yet cause the battery is not charged) plugged to a google charger for 3 hours and half and the battery has charged from 40% to 82%
The phone had the screen off for 1 hour by this time. This was when the battery recovered 40%.
I tend to think that we've got, Houston, a big problem here...
No massive battery drain for me. 8.39%/hr active drain and .80%/hr idle drain on stock kernel. Active drain is a little higher than usual for me, probably because of rebooting many times doing stuffs.
Fast charging is also the same for me using an Anker Nano II 30W charger. No problems in that area.
I have no solution, but I can confirm this is an issue. I had no issue before the update lasting up to even 2 days with light use. Now, I even with battery saver turned on, it dies in about 6 hours in my pocket.
I just went on a trip to Toronto last week and it was terrible, had to keep my phone powered off in my pocket so I could still be sure to have enough battery to get an uber back to my airbnb.
So far today at work. I unplugged my phone at 730am to leave for work, it's 1105 and typing this out is the most I've used my phone. It is both warm to the touch and the battery is at 73%.no wait 72% it just went down...

Here are 2 examples showing the difference between before and after A13
Just when I was about to switch to my P6P, I'm reading all these problems with slow charging and mediocre battery life. I wonder how widespread they are?
I can't use a new phone that seems to have a worse battery life than my P4XL...
Not to mention the whole sideloading apk FC thing.
Guys, I am also having massive issues with my new Pixel 6 phone which is approx 10 days old only....
A12 was fine for the first days then I want to A13 and then all hell brooke lose The battery drain is awful and I am facing these problems :
- Phone idle is between 20-37% - even when phone is in flight mode for the night it consumes 20-30% instead of normal 1-2%
- Viber is draining battery with 20%+ consuming when its not really used shows usage of 20+ hours Never had such issue.
I am over now 4-5 recharge cycles and I have turned off adaptive almost anywhere... What to do?
Just pray and wait for Google to drop a fix/patch for A13 for our Pixel 6 ???
For those that upgraded from A12 to A13 and having the issue, have you wiped the phone (factory reset) and started fresh? I know it's a PITA getting everything setup again, but that's crazy. I was at 100 percent at 7 am, now 7 hours later, I am at 66 percent with pretty heavy usage... Generally YouTube constantly along with everything else I'm doing. By no means is my battery life amazing, but def comparable to A12 on my end.
