I have installed the root66_TMO_T999UVDLJA rom and have no problems.
I cannot get the sim unlock to work, I want to go back to stock and flash the StockROMs.net-SGH-T999_TMB_1_20120523140229 Original UNROOTED.zip
would it be possible to make a CWM backup of the current rom and data,
then flash the un-rooted rom, and unlock the sim
and then, use CWM to restore the current rom and data?
if so, maybe some kind "guru" could give me some detailed steps to accomplish this?
I'd be most appreciative!
Aloha From Hawaii!
When you say you can't get it to work, are you using a different sim card to try if you unlocked it? That method is getting 99.9% success.

So I was one of the unfortunate ones who had their 4g totally hosed. I am going to flash a stock ROM to make it look stock and take it into Sprint.
My questions are as follows:
If I flash a stock non-rooted ROM will it break my custom recovery? This leads to my next question, which is can I flash back via a Nandroid backup if Sprint tells me to take a hike?
Thanks in advance!
You may want to follow some of the unroot threads in the dev section... You can flash another rom but more than likely you will have s-off in your recovery. If sprint wants to be d-bags they will still find out you are rooted. I would nandroid, copy the nandroid folder to your PC (and anything else ROOT related on the SDcard), wipe the phone/sd card and follow the un root methods.
I'm in the same boat. Just curious, what are you planning on telling them happened to your phone?
Is there a way to downgrade the Galaxy Note 2 N7100 from 4.3 to 4.1.1 firmware because I've been foolish enough to flash a 4.3 custom ROM without making a backup of the EFS. The phone has a service provider sim lock, so I need to downgrade to 4.1.1 or is there any work around to sim unlock my note2 on 4.3 without rollback the firmware to 4.1.1?
EDIT:
I'm currently using my Note2 outside the origin of the phone which is the Philippines, I'm currently residing in Manama Bahrain.
You can try to find the newest version for your phone, country and carrier on http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/1/
I have not tried to downgrade with Odin, but I'm guessing it would work.
efs restoring query??
hello everyone, i ve a efs backup, backedup wen im running on 4.3 (xxuemj5). is it possible to go back to 4.1.2 (N7100XXDMB2) and restore tat backup (backed up on 4.3)? i had a prob (" not registered on a network") last time wen i went back to 4.1.2.
thanks in advance-
I don't need the newest one, I need to find a firmware with a sim unlock app compatibility.
Then download the last version that worked for you.

I wanted to downgrade to a lower version of the N7100 firmware, preferably 4.1.1 since I need the sim unlock. The phone is locked to a Philippine telecom, I'm currently asituated overseas - I want to use the phone overseas, hence, the need for the sim unlock is dire.
EDIT:
One more thing, the EFS backup and nandroid backup got deleted when I wiped(accidentally) the sd card.

Yes, what I did was;
Enter download mode > Flash a custom recovery (It was TWRP in my case) > Reboot > Flash a 4.1.2 based ROM
*I was quite lucky though since I flashed a ROM with a separate zip for the new modem, I got stuck in the process of a full reboot after flashing the ROM. Whence, this should be the sequence I'm supposed to do to make the ROM work;
Full wipe > Flash ROM > Reboot > Go on with setup > Wait for the boot sequence to finish > Reboot > Flash newer modem > Reboot
*I got stuck on the first reboot routine*

another issue regarding the downgrade
Hi,
my N7105 is rooted, 4.3 is installed, knox had been installed but was deleted using Titanium backup. Now i want to flash it back to 4.1.2 again, but:
odin doesn't recognize the phone, i don't have any files to try flashing it via recovery mode and the official update function doesn't work, because it's rooted. I also don't know, if flashing via the recovery mode would work at all.
Am i bound to 4.3 forever?
Generally i simply want to downgrade to 4.1.2 as i can't see any advantage in 4.3 or -if possible- would like to try cyanogen
Best regards

Before I get to the point let me explain what happened. I attempted to root my S3. It did work up until I got to the point where I was ready to flash a ROM and it didn't work. I received the "status 7" error on CWM and I receive an error on TWRP that means the same thing. So what I did since I couldn't restore from a backup that I would get bootloops from, I attempted to install a ROM that was .tar or md5.tar through ODIN which only worked for original firmware (given in the screenshot). I have managed to install this ROM on my phone through TWRP but unfortunately it is for TMobile and somehow my AT&T service works on it. Here is a screenshot of the phone. I have tried flashing "aokp_task650_d2lte_kitkat_6.3.2014" that is made for the AT&T S3 but no matter what I try to flash it will not flash. I have already tried doing the "ASSERTS" method but it did not work. Can someone please help me fix this issue??? :/

The hybrid firmware thing shouldn't really happen but for some reason, cross flashing between T999 (T-Mobile) & i747 (AT&T) sometimes happens without necessarily causing a brick. I would suggest you do a complete stock restore to AT&T 4.3JB firmware (UCUEMJB). Thereafter, you can go back to flashing your preferred custom ROM. Since you appear to be able to get to TWRP, you can first, from custom recovery, remove all existing firmware including OS and then reinstall the stock firmware. It appears the bootloader is still UCUEMJB so flashing AT&T stock firmware shouldn't be a problem. Please see the thread below for 4.3 stock restore...

So in this case, I just flash everything that it gives me correct? Is the stock ROM still rooted? If it is not then what rooting process do you suggest I go through? If it is a rooted ROM. Then do you recommend I unroot it and root it again or take some other alternative method? I really appreciate your help

It's a complete stock image which will take you to as near factory condition as you can get. This means it is unrooted. You would need to re-root after (successful) firmware installation. Prior to flashing the firmware, please remember to use custom recovery to remove all existing firmware including OS. Once you've restored the firmware, there are several ways to root but my preferred method is SafeRoot. You can find the download links and instructions to SafeRoot in the thread below ...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2565758
You can also try Option 2 in the thread below ...

I am running 4.4.2 on my S3 (AOKP Task650) but unfortunately I am receiving some battery drain. Is there a Kernel I could use to prevent this and save more battery? Which Kernel do you recommend most? Also I am having issues with my Data. I get "E" for edge in a 4G LTE area? Is there a radio that I can flash or APN for this to fix that problem?

Hi everyone,
I am looking for a way to sim unlock my S3 so my girlfriend can use it on Telus (I just got an OPO )
Before I purchase a code, I have a few questions, if anyone knows the answer
1- Will an unlock code work with my setup? (I am seeing reports of it only working on Stock 4.1 and whatnot)
2- Where is a good place to purchase a code? (Rogers a crooks with a 50$ fee and I don't wanna get ripped off online either)
Thanks!
XC3N
You will need to be running a stock or close to stock ROM in order to use the unlock code. You do not need to be on stock 4.1.1 to use an unlock code. You need to be running stock 4.1.1 if you want to unlock using the free method. You may be able to unlock it using a code if you are running a stock dialler.
What bootloader or baseband is on your phone?

I managed to get a code from Rogers for half the price, which is "not that bad" I guess...
I have yet to try it as I don't have the SIM card with me atm.
Baseband: I747MVLUEMK5
it's my understanding that downgrading from this will brick your phone...
Thanks for all the info!
Yes, trying to downgrade from mk5 will brick your phone.
Find the stock Rogers ROM from sammobile.com and flash it via Odin. Flashing back to stock will wipe all user data and files so make sure you backup everything you need before flashing back to stock.

Ok I tried the code and it didn't work.
I'll read up on the Odin procedure... I've done it before on another phone but I wanna make sure I don't end up with a brick! Thanks!

ah one more thing... since I'm using the unlock code (I don't believe the free method works on Rogers phone anyway) should I flash to stock MK5?
If I go to stock MK5, eill I be able to come back to CM afterwise?
Thanks!
The free method will only work if you are running an i747 or i747m on stock 4.1.1 including the bootloader.
If you flash back to stock mk5, you should be able to re-install cwm and CM11. There are many threads on disabling knox and install CWM.

Hi! Reporting back, everything worked well flashing stock rom using this method:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1739426
I had a slight problem after the Odin flash where I had to boot to recovery and factory reset to get out of a boot loop, but everything went fine after that.
I managed to unlocked the phone, changed the recovery using the aforementioned thread and got back up and running on CM11 M10 in no time!
Thanks a lot for your help sir =)

Hello just a few quick questions about unrooting my M8.
Will I lose the sim unlock?
What rom will I need to flash, just the latest stock rom?
I ask this as I want to use android pay and as far as I can tell there is no work around for using the app with root, Tried several methods and got nowhere.
I'd happily keep my root if there was a workaround
Kind regards!
I don't know much about android pay as I don't have that service here in my country.
If you need to unroot or flash a stock ROM, it will not remove your sim unlock..
You need to install the stock ROM that is meant for your current firmware.

Yeah, Android Pay has not been active long in the UK at all.
Ok I will give it a try later on, Thanks for the help!
How did you root? Are you on a stock ROM now? If you are on stock you can use the full unroot option in the Superuser app. If you are on a custom ROM did you take nandroid before hand? If so you can restore that. If you don't you can get one from ckpv5 thread here (if your firmware is listed)
