I was having problems with market on cm7 after flashing gapps..
It was not showing in app drawer and could not be launched by any means.. so here is how i fixed it
1. Flash latest white kernel: http://forum.
xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1762692
2. Flash latest cm7 build: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1996275
3. Reboot
4. After 1st boot, reboot to recovery flash gapps and reboot
5. You will notice that market is missing
6. Install root explorer.. go to /system/app delete vending.apk
7. Reboot
8. Extract vending.apk from gapps.zip and install as a user app
9. Open it.. add google account if you have not added before and market will face fc's
10. (ADDITIONAL NOT NECESSORY) In cwm chose fix permissions (market still gave fc's)
11. Using root explorer go to /data/app move com.google.vending.apk and paste it in your /system/app
12. Rename apk to vending.apk
13. Set permissions to rw-r--r-- and reboot
And market works
Screen captures will be attached to next post

what you need to do is put your desire in recovery and use adb to delete google maps. just mount /system/ and use the command rm /system/app/maps.apk then you can just reinstall google maps from the market

Tried this, still fails to install. Now I don't have maps. Fancy uploading your Maps.apk please?
Edit: Scrap that, check out this.
You can also try this, did it yesterday and working fine.
To remove Google Brut so you van instal the original Google Maps follow the steps. Works fine.
1.
Remove the following files from your phone.
The first two files (red) I did not delete but temporary renamed with Root Explorer to com.google.android.maps.jar.old and com.google.android.maps.xml.old
com.google.android.maps.jar in system\framework
com.google.android.maps.xml in system\etc\permissions
maps.apk in system\app (delete this one from phone)
2. Reboot
3. Extract Maps.apk from the downloaded ROM file. Find it in system\app
4. Copy back or rename back the xml & jar file, and install the maps.apk from the removed rom manually using htc sync or the way you normaly install a APK file.
5. Reboot
6. Uninstall Google Map. You uninstal the installed version from step 4.
7. Reboot to recovery, clear cache & dalvik cache
8 Install google map from market
9. Done
Quick question regarding Google navigation brut. Once u r navigating , and for example u take a wrong turn , .. The navigation voice won't tell u that u have taken a wrong turn or the term , rerouting ! any suggestions ..

to OP,
can't you just unzip the file on PC and copy Vending.apk to /system/app and then do the same for /data/app (of course renaming it appropriately here) without flashing?

I see you know how to do this.
Why don't you do it yourself?
It's so easy.
Unpack
Duplicate the vending.apk
Rename one of the file to com.android.vending-1.apk and push it to data/app
Push the vending.apk to system/app
That's it.

After u replaced the 2 vending files u have to wipe the dalvik cache in Recovery.
Read second Post pls.
The wipe dalvik worked for me, thanks for the great black theme!
OK, User Error
My fault! i used the Copy paste Options of Super Manager wrongly
Now i got a Black Market in full function. Thanks
I got a Problem.
First i installed it as it is described!
But the Market appears in the same Look as it was before. So i startet the For those who this installation is not working or
after flash u still have the old Market: describtion.
But here
7.
Reboot your Phone and open RootExplorer.
PLS, be sure the system is mountet R/W.
Copy the file Vending.apk from /system/app
to /data/app
i got a Problem
The Venedig.apk File is listet there, as "not installed".
When i press the Copy icon and then the Clipboard icon (i work with Super Manager) it seems to Copy as a Progress Bar appears for a millisecond but i cannot paste it into the /data/app.
Now my Market doesnt work, the icon looks like with a "Glass-effect" with a short index "SD" on it. It is not installed yet.
What can i do ?
Be sure this directorys are mountet R/W: system/app & data/app
If this wont work, try it with RootExplorer.
Ty for this
Thanks, Man
Like the black market, looks cool and also saves me a miniscule amount of battery too !
its a win win situation
although, when i can be bothered i think ill change the icon back to original green
Great work tho
Cheers !

Hi everyone
Can anyone upload stock .apk file of camera from (CyanogenMod 7.1-cooper-KANG-RC1 Android 2.3.7 - by Grif ), because I delete this app, and I don't have a copy of this.
If you downloaded the flashzip, just look for it inside and extract it.
OK, I got this.
But, when I try install it, it shows me "Application is not installed"
Any idea ??
Move the apk file into /system/app set permissions to rw-r-r and reboot. Now it should work again.
Cheers

Yeah, I know this method. I did that, and didn't work.
When you reboot, take a stop at recovery mode and clear dalvik cache and then fully reboot.

Please share the odex file you use. Thanks so many
the odex file is found on grifs CM7 thread. If you have the compiled apk file already you dont really need the odex since it wont do anything.

Problem 1:
Some users find that the Swype is force closing, and the absence of gallery and music in App drawer.
If you face this problem, here is what you can do:
1. Using root explorer, delete Swype.apk from System/app (or) uninstall swype using link2sd.
2. Try looking for play music and gallery ics apk in system /app. If present MOVE them to SD card using root explorer. Tap rw at the top to move.
3. Reboot.
4. Install the following attached apk's in the post: SwypeICS.apk, and GalleryICS.apk, Google play music. apk or from the apks which you just moved to your SD card. For better performance of play music, again move the apk to System /app...and set permissions to rwrr. (Tick the first two boxes in the first row and the 1st box in the other two rows) and reboot.
5.Enjoy.
Problem 2:
ICS Gallery is not working on my phone.
Solution:Have you done it properly? Try again. I've fixed the link. Still if it doesn't work, I'm afraid you will have to install the old Gingerbread Gallery. Copy and paste gallery3D.apk from attachments into System/app using root explorer, set permissions to rwrr and reboot.
Problem 3:
Status Bar does not appear.
Solution: Re Install the ROM from beginning. It happened because the flashing was not done properly.

Hi guys, today I will show you how to force install Google Play Services in some ROMs.
Method #1 (My thread, actually):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2248648
Method #2 (Only tested on Hyperion 8):
1. Download lastest Google Apps from anywhere.
2. Extract it.
3. Paste the files into their respective location (expect META-INF).
4. Change their permission to rw-r--r-- (if you want do it)
5. Reboot into CWM.
6. Wipe data, cache & dalvik cache.
7. Do fix permissions and reboot.
8. Open Play Store and tap Agree. Then let it download Google Play Services.
Method 3:
1. Download lastest Google Apps from anywhere.
2. Extract it.
3. Extract your ROM.
4. Paste the extracted Google Apps into the extracted ROM (into their respective location).
5. Rezip your ROM (and resign the zip)
6. Flash it, do fix permission and reboot.
7. Open Play Store and tap Agree. Then let it download Google Play Services.
NOTE: It is recommended to make Nandroid backup first. Do it at your own risk.
