Hey guys just wondering if there is a way to view the source code for a webpage like on a PC. Usually (on windows) if you're on a website and you go to View and hit Source it's there. Don't see it on stock 4.1.2 browser or chrome. Is there a way?

you mean the .htm or html file?
Copy its address and add it to your browser, it works well like that!
Not sure what you mean, but usually it just opens a webpage that looks like notepad and has the source for the page you're on. That's all I'm looking for

OK!
if it can't automatically give you the option of the browsers then go to the direction where is the file e.g. index.htm and copy its address /sdcard/website/index.htm and put it to browser's url bar and it will open the file via browser..
"View Web Source" from the Google Play Store
play.google.com direct link

Still confused about what you're saying, sorry, so I have to go to where what file is exactly? Real sorry man I spent most of the night backing up windows and trying to dual boot Ubuntu. Few beers deep ATM....lol

the easiest and fastest way to view source is download Firefox browser. It has a free plugin in its store equivalent that allows you to view source in the browser itself without closing the site you are viewing.
Source: I use it.
Please press thanks if this helps.

thanks I guess that sorta works. It only displays like 3 or 4 lines of text and then I have to scroll the whole rest of the way across. Like 90% of the screen is blank and unused. Also if I try to zoom in everything disappears same if I scroll too fast. :/

Add view-source: in front of URL
Android versions of Firefox, Kiwi and Chrome all allow you to put "view-source:" on the URL line BEFORE the https:// (or http://).
Example:
view-source:https://forum.xda-developers.com

I use Xscope. It isn't free I don't think. Honestly, don't get it. haha
I use dolphin browser hd. Also have your unknown sources checked in the application settings.
Make sure you have some type of file browser installed, otherwise you will get this error. I think, one comes installed but not sure.

The stock browser has this problem. When download some files, it will have some kind of check. Once it found something incompatible, it will notify user and prevent them from downloading. Maybe you could try other browser. Recommend Boat Browser. It supports pause/resume/retry when downloading. You can find it in Android market.
I enabled astro's download anything for stock browser but I told me I have to dissable the setting anytime I want to download a attachment in gmail. Kinda lame :-(

Hello I'm sorry if this has already been brought up but I was unable to find it and the search button is not functioning on my old computer.
Everytime I attempt to download from XDA (of course I am signed in) I immediately get a download unsuccessful message. I have tried Opera Mini, Dolphin HD browser and also have cleaned all cache, history, and data from browsers.
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks Jeremy

Actually thats why i created this thread b/c its not persistent. its only active per session. once you close the browser you have to do it again and again....... why can't we just disable "mobile view" permanently? so lame.

Your OP didn't specify that you wanted it permanent, all you asked was if it was possible to change it.I haven't had any issues with Dolphin Browser HD freezing up at all & I have Desktop as my UA String & I use Dolphin Browser as my primary browser and use it quite heavily.
Your right about it being lame,I think it should be a option in the default settings.

I guess no one wants to take advantage of this high res screen and see web pages like they are meant to be? Who wants to view web pages in mobile view on a phone like this?

There is a way. It requires editing the strings xml. I have tried, but apktool will not successfully compile anything I mod

Gotta throw in a bump on this one...really shocked this hasn't been one of the first mods to have been sorted out for this device.
I modded the browser source and compiled it if anyone is interested in it. Persistent ua string and a whole slew of options not normally visible. Require root and 4.0.3.

That's phenomenal...where might I try out this mod?
EDIT: nevermind, found your post in the other thread! Will check it out, cheers! (btw hopefully some more folks will take notice of your work, and ideally it would be great if your mod would get a sticky on this forum, given that it should be one of the very first mods that a GN owner would want!)
I've been downloading files normally from mediafire with no problems. Since yesterday, whenever I open a link to mediafire, Chrome says that there was an error accessing the server, and the stock browser just doesn't load.
I tried immediately after with a laptop, and everything was fine with MF.
Any ideas to what might be causing this?
Thanks

If you look at this thread you'll be able to see exactly how to do it and learn how to do other things when using the app.

Or you can upload at an image host, and use the img bb code...
There are a bunch of good host apps available in play store...
I prefer this because a lot of times the pics that are natively uploaded do not show up due to issues with tapatalk's server...

you could always use an image hoster like imgur.com
The most easy way which I prefer to use on my phone is just a SIMPLE APP.
Its name is URLy:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...ogle&utm_medium=organic&utm_term=urly+android
Its a free app. So no fuss.
Just open up your picture, select Share, then select URLy and upload to any site of your choice (huge selection available)....when uploaded it directly copies the URL of the pic to your clipboard.
And then just open up XDA app and paste the code in the "Insert Image Link" !
