You should look into xda University

Lol, Google "how to make a ROM" and you'll see just how many times its been asked and answered. See my Arc guide, I've posted links there too to help.

If u want to learn it the selftaught way - begin with customize and tweak stock ICS / GB ROM with gaining access to the build.prop file and all system folder parts of your phone

Xperia play roms?

Hello can any one please explane why there still arent any modified rooms? is it realy hard to create it for xperia play?
Sent from my R800i using XDA App
There are no custom ROMs because:
1) there is still no universal way to back up restore the relevant phone data (Trim Area, or TA)
2) there is still no custom recovery
3) there is no way to unlock the bootloaders for people with SIM-locked phones
4) there is only a certain number of people with interest and means to work on the three prior points.
You should be patient and support the people who are working on it. They'll do great things if we let them work
Yea I am eagerly waiting for some tweeked custom "ROOMS" lol

Yes but the ability to backup is there and available sadly at a cost though, for now at least!
I like the stock rom

1) It's possible for now with Omnius - it officially supports TA backup/restore for MSM7x30 platform.
2) It's almost there. Check out Arc section - it works but with graphical glitches, but no files to flash yet...
3) I'm working with Androxyde on TA backup/restore tool in hex format. It'll make my progress on this much easier.
or better yet we should be trying to get xrecovery to work on our phones, doomlord and Z are trying to get it to work on the arc(they might have it working by now) once that can be implemented then we'll be able to do custom roms no problem
1) I cant wait
2) I cant wait
3) I cant wait
4) I guess i will wait, good things come to those that wait
I'm 90% happy with the stock play rom, but we all know the xda developers unlock more than 110% of a mobile devices potential
hi, i'd like to free some space of my internal storage so i can install more apps, is this could be done by just rooting my device? i've seen some Apk' rooting program, but still can handle mine, some article say GingerBread v2.3.4 can not be rooted :-S , is that right?

this thread should not be in development. there are plenty of custom roms, but i guess you have to have an IQ of at least 10 to realize that.
to name a few:
Darkforest
GintoJellyBean
CyanogenMod7.2, 9, and 10
IT rom
GlazedICS
xDarkICS
MIUI
TrueAncestor
etc.....

And if you had a higher IQ you would realise that this thread is over a year old. There's no need for you to be sarcastic like that. It's just plain rude.

Some roms are prerooted, but you may need an unlocked bootloader for some(Just read rom thread), and another way to root is "fastbooting a kernel" like Doomkernel. Just search around. You will find it in Play "Android Development"

Your thread is now in Q&A after being moved yesterday from the Development section where you first posted it.. Root if ya need don't if ya don't.
yes , you should
whats the easiest way if there is one any help would be appreciated
ZergRush exploit by doomlord.
Look in dev section for easy tool.
One click.
Sent from my LT15i using XDA Premium
Definitly worth it.
Just use the ZergExploit like explained before, make sure you flash the FXP kernel (look up how to put a boot.img) and then put the new FXP047 image (7.2.0 at the time of writing this).
I had the same reluctance at the start as you, it seems complicated, and you actually need more research. Make sure you read the "noob" posts on how to root, they actually give you all the infos you need when put together

It's normal to hesitate but not when you get the correct steps to do it in a clean and harmless method.
Try this tutorial that worked fine for me.

OP didn't specify bootloader status and the bootloader would have to be unlocked to flash a custom kernel doesn't it? Great link if he has unlocked bootloader

Nope, you didn't. You're not the first to say they've searched for something when they clearly haven't and you certainly wont be the last. I came here to learn, not be spoon fed and rehashed old information that I could have found myself by searching. This post of mine from yesterday sums up this thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=32137512&postcount=152

Unfortunately my friend this is not a hold my hand and guide me forum. You need to do some reading and learning like the rest of us. We all had to do it and we all were new at this once. So please read and search then read and search some more before you end up coming back to us requesting help to fix your phone.
Never attempt anything without some kind of basic knowledge of what you are trying to do.
To get anything higher than 2.3.7 means you have to go custom rom like JB or ICS. So my first advice to you would be reading up on how to get your bootloader unlocked since its a DHD. If its an inspire then read up on rooting if its still supported.
Good luck and enjoy the learning.

I agree...
To op. Please look through the forums, people have already done lots and lots of work already for you, creating guides and tools and roms and recoveries.
Now I don't want to sound mean, but at the end of the day your going to have to do all the work rooting and flashing yourself, this stuff is not easy for beginners (noobs) your going to have to do some reading and learning.
However this does not mean that some one is not going to help you after you've learned some skills.
