Google search widget change

Did your Google search widget change ?

They updated the google search app, it looks completely different now.

Thanks I though a app messed it ,
It auto updated.

I keep getting "package file not signed correctly " and fails to update. Any ideas how to fix?

You probably have a modded one installed and won't let you update. Delete the current one from system/app, then try redonwloading again.

Should be able to pull the .apk of the old one from any of your old ROMs and then freeze it with ROM Toolbox, TiBa, Terminal, etc... And then it can't update - though then it might not be usable since it's frozen At least you can pretend haha.

Transparent missing Genie /news/weather widget

Here is a transparent version of the missing genie widget .. ie the news/weather that is on the stock ics

Need to be rooted..
copy to /system/app with adb or root explorer.

Not installed
On my Tmobile S3 i downloaded and attempted to install but the installer gave said "application not installed" and gave me no input as to why.
I have install from unknown sources checked in security settings so idk why it doesn't work.

You need to root your device and push the apk to /system/app. (you don't just sideload the apk, as it seems you tried to do).

Wow, i feel like an idiot. I should have made sure to reread the entire post. I didn't realize it needed to be a system app.
Copied it to system/app and it works perfectly. Sorry about that.

Is there any way to load genie with out being rooted???

Graph view working fine here. Try uninstall and reinstall. Also a phone reboot.

Thanks for letting me know it was just me it was force GPU rendering causing that. First time I've ever actually encountered an app that didn't get along with that setting.

Is anybody actually excited to use the multiview feature? I mean, ya its extremely awesome what this guy did and the option to have it awesome but seeing my friend have the note 2 and use the feature just seems like its not as "beneficial as it seems" maybe people can list what they would use the feature for? I see one good reason... editing build.prop and having xda open in the other window...

I could not get the wifi hotspot to work. Please post steps as to how you did.

Any one got multiview to work? I can find it under settings i flashed the zip but i cant find out how to use it i sesrch everywhere on my phone.

Okay.
Flash the .zip in CWM.
Once you are done, then go to twitter or something and click a link and hit "Popup window" then you can use Multi view.

It's a variant of multi-view basically.

He has 2 windows open at once, sort of like multi-view.

That's pop up browser not multi view, their is no need to flash the .zip for that. Also flashing the .zip does nothing you have to manually place the files yourself.

What's your battery life like with this? I'm just starting to use it but I was plugged in all night and now an hour after unplugging I'm already at 89%??

Not so great here either. Android system usage is very high when the screen is off.
This is like when I was running the LI8 Jellybean leak, although since this is a port, the reasons for high android system usage while screen off could very well have different causes I guess, but the symptom is the same.

[HOWTO] Add apps to Multiwindow on Stock ROMs

I was just thinking to myself "why mod it so that every app you have installed shows up in the multiwindow bar?" This presents incompatibilities and also makes it hard for those who have a lot of apps installed (me) to really find what we're looking for to actually multitask with.
With the latest leak they've added the ability to specify which apps get multiwindow support through the awesome CSC engine. Now, instead of having all of your installed apps show up, you can pick and choose which ones you'd like to be added.
If you ever wondered how those Sprint apps got added to the list, it's by editing the feature.xml file located in /system/csc
Find this line:

Add and remove apps by package name. This is a bit advanced so it's more for ROM chefs or users who know how to retrieve package names and feel comfortable editing this file. If someone were to create an app to do this, it would be even better. I have over 300 apps installed and this is the perfect way to make sure I'm not scrolling endlessly as I try to find the app I want to multitask with. A reboot later and your new app should show up in the list.

I modified the feature.xml and added the Yahoo Mail app (com.yahoo.mobile.client.android.mail) entry and then rebooted. When I went into Multi Window, I was able to add Y!Mail and was able to split screen it.

SPRINT GS3 FAQ

Appears Chrome Beta and Chrome are not able to co-exist in Multiwindow. I added Chrome Beta (com.chrome.beta) to feature.xml and then Chrome is not available to split screen with. I then tried to add Chrome (com.android.chrome) to feature.xml as well, but only 1 Chrome will show up.

If you use root explorer, navigate to data/app, all the passage names are listed there... just leave out -1.apk... so for quick pic (the blue app icon you see in the screenshot) it would be com.alensw.PicFolder

not all apps are there. i have found a few in another folder. sometimes doing a search in root explorer is better.

Google Home Launcher. Tried my best to provide info and files. Good luck!!

Google Home Launcher. Files and instructions. Should work on most Jelly Bean phones.
Download the files.
1st - PrebuiltGmsCore.apk (Google Play Services) first.
2nd - Velvet.apk (Google Now)
3rd - GoogleHome.apk
Place the lib file in System/lib folder and fix permissions (owner , group and others should be checked under READ)
(ONLY owner should be checked under WRITE)
Reboot.
Thats all I did. If OK Google doesn't work do this.....
Settings - voice - offline speech recognition- install language of choice. I use English. - switch to english UK and perform a search and then swich back to normal language. That shoult make everything functional. If not.....I tried. Works for me!

Thanks for posting. Seems to work until I use Google now. For example when I ask "what is the weather" it starts to work then says "unfortunately Google search has stopped". Any suggestions? Thanks.

FIXED: as the OP states I had to change the language to English UK do a search then back to English US

are the apk being installed just like regular apk's or are they being pushed to a specific folder?

Nvm got it to work, looks like it has potential, it would be good if we could set our own settings for the drawer and if we could hide certain apps

So when I tried to install PrebuiltGmsCore.apk, it said "application not installed", but I went thru and installed everything else, rebooted and it seems to be working ok. Should I be worried?

This hack is awesome. Makes the ROM 2 x faster.
One other question,
I've noticed on my home screen tile it doesn't have number indicators next to the stock e-mail and SMS icons to show how many items are unread. Is this by design? Any way to fix this?

i believe that is how its designed.. hopefully they will add that feature at a later date

How to make the status bar transparent?

Has anyone been having some random reboots? Seems to happen when the battery gets lower then 10%. Happens maybe once a day.
