Hi!
Just wondering if there's a work-around to get the remote on a Iphone headset to work on a DHD?
The mic, both earbuds and the middle button is working but not the volume control/skip tracks buttons.
I'm aware that it's a hardware issue, but do you know if there's an adapter I could use to get all the buttons working?
BTW it's regarding the Logitech Ultimate Ears 500vi that I just purchased. I've been using beats before but they suck donkey balls.
Regards

I guess this is a silly question, but I have these V MODA headphones (Remix Remote, if you're curious) and was wondering as to whether it was possible to get the buttons to work. It has volume buttons and play/pause buttons, but the only time the remote buttons works is during a phone call (Answer/End).
Thanks!
Are they meant to be used with an iPhone? If so, some music apps replicate the headphone functionality of the iPhone. MixZing does, maybe others. I don't believe the standard Android music player works with the buttons, though.
Thanks for your response! MixZing works flawlessly. However, the volume buttons don't work.
And yes, it's intended as an iPod/iPhone headset.
Hi all,
I was wondering if it is possible to write an application to allow the volume control on headphones e.g. ipod headphones to be used on the DHD?

Hey i dont think you can as it is just a regular head phone jack on the DHD but it could be used as a secondary control where you turn your phone up full then just turn down your headphones and control it that way.
hope it helps
I tried a Nokia controller thing once and the only thing that worked was the volume control.
Those stock headphones just send a specific signal into the jack that only works on HTC phones I guess.
Someone could write a program that reads controls from other headphones too.
The Nokia controller I have is detachable and usable on any headset so I would support anyone willing to do that
Hey all,
My favorite earbuds got run over by a car recently and now I don't have an excuse not to upgrade to a pair with an in-line mic, playback and volume controls. Right now I'm looking at the Woodies Blues (can't post links yet, I lurk to much. A quick search on Amazon will enlighten you) but I wanted to confirm that the volume and playback controls actually work before pulling the trigger. I've done my research but still haven't gotten a definitive answer, some people say none of the controls work, some only the play/pause button and some even claim the volume controls work so I turn to my favorite panel of experts. Tell me oh oracles of technology, does the Android platform support in-line controls and if so which features work and which don't?
On a side note has anyone here actually tried the Blues? What did you think?
Mahalo!
I've got a pair of the sony earbuds with ipod remote. (As with you boundless I lurk as well.... so no links. Search this on amazon)
Sony MDREX38iP/BLK EX Earbud with iPod Remote Control (Black)
Phone is a DX rooted Froyo. Unfortunately the remote does not control the volume. If volume up or down is pressed on the headphones it will pause the track and hitting it again plays the music.
I'm curious if anyone has figured this out as well. I would love to use the inline volume controls that my headphones have.
Might be useful to someone. HTC HD7 headset works with One X but. Volume control buttons work to change the track in music player. Pressing + goes one track back, pressing - advances a track. Holding the + restarts your playlist from 1st track. Button for phone calls so pickup/disconnect work as normal and long pressing it does the same as in stock headset so advances the track by 1 song. Microphone also works. Finally headset activates the beat add-on but saying that only 1 set of headsets did not activate it on my phone?!
It is useful as what you can do now is mod the HD7 headset so that right after microphone/buttons you have a 3.5mm jack socket and you can plug in any headphones and still use them as headset.
headset and headphones that work all three buttons & mic
- urbeats
- htc beats solo
- Sony smart headset
- Nocs NS200H-001
i've got the nokia monster purity in ear headphones and they work with the one x pretty well, the volume controls function as track controls and the call button and mic works perfectly too. Only issue i've had is the music controls won't work at all if you're using chrome and trying to change the track. You have to get out of chrome and then the buttons work, strange but not a major issue.

I've been trying to find the best non in-ear (ear canal) earbud option for the Z3 and given price and performance it would seem that Apple may offer the best sound quality that also has a microphone and a remote control option. (Sennheiser doesn't appear to make an earbud option with full remote and mic, just remote volume.)
Can anyone confirm whether Apples mic and remote both work with the Z3? How is the sound quality?
Apple earphones, or any earphone designed for iOS for that matter, only "support" the middle button to control pause / skip tracks or answering calls. The microphone works too.
The two volume buttons are not supported by any Android phone and are without function.
The only supported Android headsets with 3 buttons that I know of are HTC E240 and E242, but they are in-ear.
Another solution would be a bluetooth earphones.
