Successfully unlocked my bootloader this afternoon on my Verizon r800x. :good:
After rebooting, I stupidly accepted the OTA update, apparently didn't pay attention to the warnings from the Sony website. :silly:
Now I've got a nice brick.
My phone won't boot.
I can't get back into fastboot by holding the search button.
I CAN get into flashtool, but reflashing the stock FTF doesn't seem to help the situation
Any suggestions?
try unlocking again/downloading fastboot drivers? Sorry if this doesn't help, I don't know too much.
I appreciate the suggestion, but like I said, can't get in to fastboot mode on the phone itself. Don't get the blue LED. Wouldn't think that would have anything to do with drivers; Windows doesn't even acknowledge a device being plugged in while I hold the search button, but as soon as I let go, I get the GREEN LED and I can use flashtool.

It doesnt matter if the xperia play drivers are installed on your pc. If the blue light doesnt turn on when your powering your R800x your fastboot is disabled. That means your bootloader is still locked.

I appreciate the suggestions, really, I do, but I think you're kinda missing my point here. Whether the bootloader remains locked or not is not the issue at the moment.
The official sony instructions I followed when I unlocked it had me put the device into fastboot mode. It worked great. But now, specifically, step 12 no longer works.
ALSO, my phone won't boot, which is the actual problem I'm having at the moment.
So, my phone won't boot, AND my phone can't connect to fastboot in order to flash a new kernel or whatever else I might need to do to unbrick my phone. The ONLY thing that works right now is flashtool. Flashing the stock Verizon FTF with flashtool did not remedy the situation.
Does anyone know how I can get my phone back up and running?

It is not possible to relock your bootloader in most cases, but this may be worth trying. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1134334 There is a link to an ftf file you can possibly flash to relock the bootloader then reflash back to stock.
If that fails, chances are you have a damaged bootloader and/or TA (trim area) due to the failed update. This link may help you. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1252019
Here is another link as well by wedgess, I think he uses the same method as in the link above. They will both most likely log into your computer using team viewer to resolve your suspected TA/bootloader issue. Read the entire thread, but wedgess's post is #27 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1957328&page=3 . Good Luck...

Did you back up your trim area? Because you have damaged it and will need a repair contact allejandrissimo about a bootloader and trim area repair... you can contact him at http://unlock-bootloader.com/

Have you tried flashing a different ftf? I have the R800at, and I couldn't unlock my bootloader until I flashed a generic R800a ftf. I reflashed to the AT&T R800at after the bootloader was unlocked - no problems. Think you could flash an R800i ftf just to get back to a bootable state and then flash the Verizon R800x ftf?

Yeah, I posted it more for reference than a solution...hoping it may let him know why flashtool can't fix the problem. The problem is most certainly the TA which is why I posted the other links.
Fixed.
I flashed "Xperia 2011 Range_FreeXperial_ALL.ftf" upon the suggestion of alejandrissimo. Rebooted, and in fastboot as I type this.
Thanks to everyone for their input, but the real thanks go to alejandrissimo for the solution.

Hi everyone, on this past week I've been trying to get me XP back to life... but with no success.
For starters I woke up one day to find that my phone has powered off by itself (no root nor unlocked bootloader), tried to power it on but no response, had to remove e reinsert the battery for it to boot up. Some days later same thing but when i turned it on it started a bootloop, repaired with SEUS.
This week it made the same thing and i had to repair it with Wotanserver, but when i let it alone it would reboot... everytime it entered the sleep mode it would crash and reboot. Tried flashing some roms on the forum with no luck... now wotan sees my phone as a R800i when it really is a R800a and SEUS keep saying that me phone have the latest update.
Yesterday it stopped bootlooping... it don't even show the "Sony Ericcson" phrase.
I'm new to android phones got this phone in oct/2011, didn't installed CWM.
So if someone could try to help me i would really apreciate.
Ok so, download flashtool and flash the latest r800i firmware or the any r800a firmware. As long as you can enter flash mode, your phone is fine. The reason the roms didn't work is your locked bootloader.
Nevermind, Potato13 beat me to it before I finished typing.
Thanks for the replies.
Yes I tried flashtool with several rom's either R800i and R800a from .42 to .62, from US to HK. Neither made my phone show any signs of beeing better.

try to unlock your bootloader.. then flash r800a fw..
So to get this right - You already flashed different stock firmwares to it and that stuff still happened?
Should actually not happen... to me that would indicate that there is some kind of hardware problem since you never rooted the phone nor unlocked the bootloader to really mess things up.
I would send it in

Isn't unlocking bootloader only for custom rom's? Well thats what i think it is.

Yes I was thinking on doing so but i already flashed other Fw's on this phone isnt my warrant already void? I'm saying this because I dont think I would have the money to pay the repair service.
As far as I am concerned, only rooting and unlocking the bootloader voids your warranty. You have done neither so you should be fine .
I asked Sony Customer support once how to handle my not booting phone and they adviced me to flash stock firmware - So I would figure they can't deny you services because of doing so.

---------------------------Update(05/14/2012)--------------------------
Sent the phone to SE as sashake recommended, and turn out that the problem was with the hardware itself.
SE gave me a new unit as it was still covered by warranty.

I'll do my best to help you, but we're going to need more information.
1) What Model of the phone do you have?
2) Are you absolutely sure that you unlocked the bootloader correctly?
3) Have you tried searching for and flashing the basebands for your model?
4) Can you link to the .ftf files and the CM9 wiki page for our access to be quicker?
And protip for the future: Include as much information and as many resources as you can about the problem. We can't solve insanely vague problems.

Model is R800i, Yeah I unlocked the boot-loader correctly I done it before when I had CM9, Bit of a noob so I haven't flashed any baseband for my model ill have a search for them now and report back. The FTF file was a 2.3.3 generic UK file found in this forum.
I have read posts about that. And it seams like the only way to reunlock is is to go with the paid method of unlocking... sorry

HELP NEEDED!
Hi guys,
So I tried to unlock bootloader on my Xperia M (C1904). And after unlocking, it doesn't boot anymore. Just shows "Sony", and "Xperia", then the wave animation forever.
First of all, I access to Sony Developer World for unlock bootloader key, then used flashtool's BLU feature. It successfully completed and said "Device will reboot into system now" However it showed the wave animation forever, (waited for around 20 or more minutes) but there was no change, so I flashed stock .ftf file via Flashmode. HOWEVER, everything was the same as before.
Then I used BLU feature again to try Re-locking the bootloader, but it said that "Processing of loader.sin finished with errors." and "Your phone bootloader cannot be officially unlocked". I am sure that my XM is bootloader unlocking supported, and flashtool successfully finished unlocking.
I searched around the Internet and found many people is having same problem with me.
I DID try using Sony PC Companion to repair the software, but as you can imagine. It simply showed ERROR.
I need your help as fast as possible.
Thank you, and sorry for my bad English btw.
PS I did read XDA threads about this problem, but nothing helped much.

Buddy download stock firmware that works with your device(c1904) and I have heard that newley flashtool have some bugs most of the peoples found it difficult to use due to error so download a old version of flashtool.
Here is the link for flashtool that I use

It works smooth and don't forget to install drivers for xperia M found in C:/Flashtool/drivers after unpacking flashtool
Thank you guys for helping me.
I tried re-locking and flashed the stock firmware, and now my XM is working normally again.
Now, the question is, "Is there a way to safely unlock bootloader without soft bricking?"

Buddy for first time soft bricking happens with all it happened with me too because for first time the DRM keys (a kind of key used to get sony official support and update OTA) get wiped forever since DRM keys are integral part of BOOT so it will led to softbrick only for first time after that you can easily unlock or relock your Device

There probably isn't, if you've altered system and relock and toggle OEM unlocking off in dev. options you get bricked.

Did you try:
fastboot flashing unlock
Since you only relocked, you unlikely toggled "OEM unlock"?!
If it fails, I think you are SOL. Maybe someone with a proper solution will chime in. Otherwise, you have to RMA your device...

Hey... Go into recovery and perform a factory reset.
Reboot bootloader and flash stock firmware. You could flash both slots to be sure your device is completely clean.
I wrote a how-to for someone having another issue. You.can follow this:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=71849370&postcount=28
When you are finished with flashing, reboot to be sure your system boot properly and your phone works as it should...
From here you can reboot into bootloader and issue:
fastboot flashing lock
If It was me I'd leave it unlocked though... Or at least OEM unlock enabled and ADB debugging ON. Since Google tend to release messed up OTA, you can always unlock the bootloader if needed.
But if you wish you can also disable the OEM unlock.
Good luck...

I'm pretty inexperienced with this kind of stuff and so you might have to explain it a bit further than what that link says. I did fastboot reboot bootloader in terminal but it can't find my device. Also I couldnt get into recovery when it was bricked so I probably still can't

Hey...
You boot into bootloader when the Device is powered off
Just like in your video: with power + volume down
You can see infos regarding:
Bootloader
Radio
S/N
DRAM
Boot-slot=
Etc...
This is the bootloader :good:
From here, unzip the google image you have downloaded, open the folder and from here run the flash-all script. Let your device reboot. Power it down, boot into bootloader again with power + volume down. Change active slot as I described in the link I gave you previously. Run the same flash-all again... Done!
Just for safety, remove your Google account before you continue. You'll add it again later...
Good luck...

Hey... Flash both slots... Just to be sure both are clean and nothing problematic remains on your device before locking your bootloader!
It could brick installing an OTA or whatever. Better restart 100% clean. :good:
Cheers...
Just flash the flash-all, relock and call it a day. Then you'll be fully stock and locked. I would however recommend rebooting once before locking to make sure its all good.

Hey man I have the same problem you can try calling Google support they can send you a replacement if you still have a warranty
my warranty has expired so I'm on my own
Hello XDA-Developer-Forum!
I think I have messed up my new phone XQ-BT52.
I followed the instructions on this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/how-to-root-and-pass-safetynet-on-xq-bt52-62-0-a-3-163.4408851/ and all worked fine.
But then I wanted to have R/W on System and started there. https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...-superrw-featuring-makerw-read-write.4247311/
I wanted to flash the image with fastboot, but had problems with the drivers.
Somehow I had the bad idea to issue fastboot oem lock
Now my device is locked again. I managed to get into recovery and made a wipe data / factory reset.
I cannot flash with fastboot, because the device seems to be locked.
The same happens with adb sideload.
Can I unlock the bootloader again?
Or can I flash the version of stock android 12 with adb sideload (I read that this would work with locked bootloader too)?
But adb sideload works only with zip-files. How to create a signed zip from XQ-BT52_Customized EEA_62.1.A.0.533?
Any help is really appreciate!
Thankx in advance!
It sounds like maybe your system partitions got messed up? Go into flashboot mode and try using newflasher with just the super.sin file from the downloaded firmware.
Make sure you use a super.sin from the same firmware you had on the phone when this happened.
Flashing official images should work even if the device is locked, because they're signed by Sony.
Thank you for your reply wirespot!
I guess flashing would not be not be possible, because the phone is locked.
However, I managed to repair the phone with Xperia Companion.
Selected "Device not detected" and connected with volume up or down pressed (cannot remember).
And it worked!
I removed unneeded apps with adb shell and pm uninstall -k --user 0 NameOfPackage.
Glad to have my new phone back.
Thankx again.
Please, did you find an answer to your question about unlocking again?
I am going through some issues with my 10III too and I want to try locking the bootloader, and going the Companion way as you did. But, once everything is repaired, I will need an unlocked bootloader again.
