Does live wallpapers really use a lot of amount of your battery or just few percent?
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda premium
I was just wondering this myself :fingers-crossed:
All livewallpapers will generally use a bit more than a static wallpaper, but the good ones shouldn't be too much of a battery hog.
Best thing to do is test them out and read the reviews on Play
With live wallpapers... my note 2 drains 1% per hr in standby. ... with regular wall paper. ..it is 1% every 4 hrs

im just havin my t 989 mobile a week ago ,,, installing application fone killer , power saving , reduce brightness dont prevent droppig of battery from 100% fully charged to 0 % within 4 hours in a light us even it dropped from 100 percent to 80 within 30 min without a fone call
im on official ICS what should i do????
Don't use an app killer, they do more harm than good. Set apps like email and Facebook or Twitter to check for status updates/emails less often. Give the phone a few cycles from 100% to almost 0% and back to 100%. It should get better over time.

Hey so lately my battery life has been total ****. I'm just looking for way to get more time out of using my phone.
I'm running Cyanogen 10 with Franco kernel.
I've attached pictures of BetterBatteryStats and my default Battery info display.
Any help would be appreciated.
looks like you dumped a ton of mp3s onto it. it is stuck scanning them all
Looks like you've got way too much screen on time to be complaining about battery life. Average is ~4 hours and it looks like you've got around 5 plus. Post a picture of your screen on time.

looks like your best option is to do less with your phone. The low signal area caused a hit, streaming music is costly as it uses audio and wifi/mobile data and prevents it from sleeping. Your screen on time consumes a lot.

So I just upgraded to the gs3 from the old ass Evo 4g. The Evo had maybe about 8 hours of battery life. My gs3 rooted with the peoples ROM got 1 day and a few hours! So excited and loving it.
A few side notes:
- I had my screen brightness on the lowest setting all day.
- was on wifi almost all day.
- downloaded a little bit from the market and played about 20 minutes worth of games.

TPR is an awesome rom! Now, other things to help.. Turn of notifications for like FB and things.. Email sync to longer durations between (will always sync when you open app) turn off Talk (Google Talk) It's an auto sign in program, So it'll be running in the background. Just a few things like that will help make it go even longer.
Beat this!

No actually. I surf the web...go on the xda app a lot. Text pretty much all day, listen to music and watch some YouTube videos. So I would call it moderate usage.

Stock rom and stock kernel. Debloated a little and a theme. I have both Gmail and Yahoo mail apps syncing with brightness on auto. I don't think I can ask for anything more out of a rom. This setup has bested any custom rom I've tried.

This is mine, I deleted my other pics by mistake but I average 6 hours + screen time on 3g and over 7hours on WiFi. All stock. Gmail syncing, contacts, calendars, face book. Talk off, Google wallet disabled, drop box on auto upload for pictures.
This is with 30 minutes of screen on time and 17 minutes talk time. Not bad for just a 11% drop.

Gonna have to get a screenie tomorrow while at work. Had 6 hours and 2 minutes yesterday. Strictly text and web browsing.

I have a question. Do you guys think there are some s3s that have just bad power management? I got mine off eBay 2 months ago and my battery life has been trash. Well comared to the rest. I don't have screens but what I average is 2 hours 30 minutes screen on time an day only get 12 hours max with data off practically the entire time. I have 3 batteries and they all average the same. What I do mostly is text, check xda, and listen to music with poweramp. Nothing crazy. With data off I don't sync during the day much. It's pissing me off because I know the battery life is good on this phone and I hair happen to get one that sucks

all they really do is shut your data off when the screen is off, which will save you some battery. but then you wont get any notifications from apps that use data i.e. email, Facebook, etc. or at least that's how it was last time i tried those apps like a year ago, maybe they've changed it.

The apps will sync, or should sync, depending on the interval you set the phone to sync. I have mine set every 15 minutes, it saves me around 10-15% battery life a day.
Depend on your settings I think, mine worked exceeding my expectations. I had the dreaded hot phone and literally 5 hours battery life. My last hope is to install a custom ROM and kernel and hope for the best, but I'm trying to stay stock as possible if I can help it. I have my fair share tinkering with custom ROMs with GNex and needless to say I'm done customizing (it's endless once you start!).
So I installed JDU just for the heck of it, lo and behold it actually works. I now get 12hrs with 15% left after a day worth of usage, browsing, lots of yelp, maps and navigation (travelling at the moment), pandora, fb, whatsapp, gosms, GNow and camera. Please note that I'm using the N4 for less than a week and still conditioning the battery, I use JDU for a full day today for the first time.
I realized that using JDU is only a temporary 'fix' until Google patch the battery issue. I hope to get 14-16hrs battery life without JDU on stock and rooted ROM. One can only hope eh..

Sorry but those threads are meaningless to my opinion. Battery life / screentime depends on personal config of the device as well as usage patterns. Therefore results are not comparable. I can easily pimp screentime up to 7 hours or more when reducing brightness to min and displaying mostly dark or black screen. So you never know how stats are generated.
Btw. Your 5 hours are perfect, if you achieved them by normal usage.
Just my 2 Cents
I kinda agree. It depends what you are doing with the phone when the screen is on. I normally play asphalt 8 on max brightness so my on screen time is not as high as some that you see.
But where I think comparison is worthy is with screen off time. I'm currently getting Drain of 1% per hour.
This is with the new saber kernel which I think is a big improvement on the old and id suggest you try it op

You're right. Battery drainage while screen is off shows how well your device goes into deep sleep mode.I usually have more than 1% per hour since wifi eats a lot more energy. I have turned wifi psm off for stability reasons. However I'm using Deep Sleep Battery Saver App and therefore I'm now able to achieve similar results.
