So I just upgraded to the gs3 from the old ass Evo 4g. The Evo had maybe about 8 hours of battery life. My gs3 rooted with the peoples ROM got 1 day and a few hours! So excited and loving it.
A few side notes:
- I had my screen brightness on the lowest setting all day.
- was on wifi almost all day.
- downloaded a little bit from the market and played about 20 minutes worth of games.

TPR is an awesome rom! Now, other things to help.. Turn of notifications for like FB and things.. Email sync to longer durations between (will always sync when you open app) turn off Talk (Google Talk) It's an auto sign in program, So it'll be running in the background. Just a few things like that will help make it go even longer.
Beat this!

This is mine, I deleted my other pics by mistake but I average 6 hours + screen time on 3g and over 7hours on WiFi. All stock. Gmail syncing, contacts, calendars, face book. Talk off, Google wallet disabled, drop box on auto upload for pictures.
This is with 30 minutes of screen on time and 17 minutes talk time. Not bad for just a 11% drop.

I have a question. Do you guys think there are some s3s that have just bad power management? I got mine off eBay 2 months ago and my battery life has been trash. Well comared to the rest. I don't have screens but what I average is 2 hours 30 minutes screen on time an day only get 12 hours max with data off practically the entire time. I have 3 batteries and they all average the same. What I do mostly is text, check xda, and listen to music with poweramp. Nothing crazy. With data off I don't sync during the day much. It's pissing me off because I know the battery life is good on this phone and I hair happen to get one that sucks

Is anyone else having terrible battery life with ICS? I'm using Calkulin's ROM with FD26, and my phone is already at 50% after 5 hours of being on. No phone calls, screen was barely on, and no browsing. It would usually be at 85-90% on the UnNamed gingerbread ROM. The battery stats say android OS is using the majority of it, and it's making the phone hot as well. Anyone else have this issue? Is it time to go back to gingerbread?
I am havig the exact same issue, fast drain and Android OS being at the top of the list. I haven't got a reply as of yet in other posts so IDK....
If your phone is getting hot then there's probably an app eating up cpu cycles and keeping the phone from deep sleep.
Use an app like system panel to see what app is misbehaving.
Try a few things.. I fell aslee with..umm... A.very family friendly website on and it stayed on all night. I ended up gaining battery somehow... Not really gaining but it was around 45 when i slept. But my settings are so tweaked...

If you are using Calk's FD26, then it's trying to use 'conservative' cpu governor but it's not supported on Stock ICS. Backup his CPU tweak init.d script and try modified version in here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1625299
Hopefully, I expect coming FE07 has more CPU governors that will give us more power saving options.

I don't do anything special really. If you are starting from a stock ROM, delete Sprint bloat (I do keep Sprint TV and VVM) and delete Social Hub and the 4 apks tied to it. Replace those with inverted Facebook and Twitter if you use them. Actually use as many inverted apps as possible. Turn off auto brightness and control it by swiping across status bar. The more time on wifi the better obviously. Kobridge and I have discovered that leaving wifi on even when not connected actually helps. Ummm....not many widgets helps. I always have a minimal homescreen. Also dark wallpapers with only a little color is good too. Black ones are best. That's a good start. Let me think if I do anything else but for the most part that's all I do. Watch out for rogue apps running in the background. Oh yeah...delete Maps and only install when you need it. One app running in the background can ruin your whole setup. Monitor that with Better Battery Stats

im on official ICS what should i do????
Don't use an app killer, they do more harm than good. Set apps like email and Facebook or Twitter to check for status updates/emails less often. Give the phone a few cycles from 100% to almost 0% and back to 100%. It should get better over time.

Yes, use it now (Ulitmate) I have found nothing wrong personally. Mine's set for Data on with screen on, Data off screen off.. I don't have a schedule set or anything (i'm always off and on the phone anyway) does increase the battery life a bit.. Download, try it for a bit.. see what you think overall.
I did use it before, just the light version. it was indeed a battery extender. But now I am using ON(X).

Juice defender WILL help. I get about 24hrs to a charge. It simply disables data/location/wifi when not in use and can be customized to run different ways for different apps
-SlimBean...the bulimic's choice for the Galaxy III
Hope this helps. It's fully customizable and it does wonders. U can train it to learn your wifi and after a while, never touch the toggle again. Use it for games so they don't go online and pick up those annoying ads (if your unrooted). And u can schedule when the net comes on to get emails and so forth when your not touching you phone.

Been using Ultimate from the beginning and if set up correctly is the difference between night and day for battery life. It works very well with no problems whatsoever on my end.
+1 When setup properly it can save a lot of juice. Or turn data off when not needed it will save a little more than using JD. But I rather have JD running so things are seamless. For Streaming audio like Spotify I find setting for enable/screen off works the best.

Be honest and tell people you have an extended battery.
i got a small issue with JD ultimate:
i set it quite correctly i think, but then, it prevents datas from coming to my phone, even when they're enabled.
let me explain better:
i set it so datas are off when screen is off and on when screen is on.
so i turn my phone on, datas take smth like 5 to 10 seconds to enable, everything normal till here, then the small H or G appear meaning i'm connected through 3G, but even then, i'm still offline... i wait, and wait 5 mins, but still, the H or G is visible on top right of my screen but.. no data.
i disable juice defender, restart my phone, didn't solve.
then i uninstall it completely, restard my phone, and everything works fine again...
anyone could help me on this one?
im getting error on the activity log when i start up this app, so im not sure if it works or not
ROM is not compatible with AOS(helper) band control is unvail. get cyanogenMod blah blah
Yeh it does that on AOKP, pa and cm10.1 so I have no answers lol

all they really do is shut your data off when the screen is off, which will save you some battery. but then you wont get any notifications from apps that use data i.e. email, Facebook, etc. or at least that's how it was last time i tried those apps like a year ago, maybe they've changed it.

The apps will sync, or should sync, depending on the interval you set the phone to sync. I have mine set every 15 minutes, it saves me around 10-15% battery life a day.
Depend on your settings I think, mine worked exceeding my expectations. I had the dreaded hot phone and literally 5 hours battery life. My last hope is to install a custom ROM and kernel and hope for the best, but I'm trying to stay stock as possible if I can help it. I have my fair share tinkering with custom ROMs with GNex and needless to say I'm done customizing (it's endless once you start!).
So I installed JDU just for the heck of it, lo and behold it actually works. I now get 12hrs with 15% left after a day worth of usage, browsing, lots of yelp, maps and navigation (travelling at the moment), pandora, fb, whatsapp, gosms, GNow and camera. Please note that I'm using the N4 for less than a week and still conditioning the battery, I use JDU for a full day today for the first time.
I realized that using JDU is only a temporary 'fix' until Google patch the battery issue. I hope to get 14-16hrs battery life without JDU on stock and rooted ROM. One can only hope eh..

Junk apps are junk.
And I am pretty disappointed in the battery life of this thing. I used a htc one for a few months and I actually think it did better than this beast. I got to say though, the display on this thing kills everything I have ever used as far as the enjoyment from the massive size. But when I was looking into this thing I kept hearing 2 days easy with this guy. I am at 23% at 250pm when I took it off at 630am. Is there something I have set wrong or is this typical. My htc would be at 25-30% when I went to bed at night usually. I do have automatic brightness checked just an fyi because that is the first thing people will prob ask.

I can't comment on the original battery because I ordered a 7960mah battery off ebay the same day I bought my Note 2. I take off at 6:30 am also but my battery is at 73% and it's 3:28 pm. I knew I was going to abuse my battery so I replaced it before it even had a chance to let me down lol. Also, I'm running Paranoid Android 3.96 (Android 4.3) which is one of the custom roms that gets good battery life.
Wish I could be of more assistance?? Well here you go.
1) Disable daydream in your display settings
2) Flash a custom kernel for stock roms...I would suggest Saber or Perseus
3) Download STweaks after installing a custom kernel and perhaps underclock your processor to 1.2 Ghz, you shouldn't see a big difference in performance but should get a HUGE savings on battery life.
3.5) You can also allow your device to go into a deep sleep at 200Mhz while you're not using it. It's kind of like having your phone completely off but will instantly wake when you get an email, txt, etc. And afterwards after a user set time, it will sleep again until either you wake it or get another message.
4) Last but not least, if you really want to tweak your stock rom into tip top shape and aren't comfortable flashing alot of mods...download Pimp My Rom from the Play Store and let this app do the work for you.
Hopefully some of this will help you out.
**If you one day get familiar with flashing custom roms, this will be a huge savings on battery. I would recommend 4.2 roms or 4.3 roms because they aren't bloated with alot of the Sprint/Samsung junk that is running in the background, ultimately killing your battery without you ever knowing it.**

This is correct. Lol. Daydream is a 4.2.2 feature, you wouldn't see that in 4.1.2, my bad.
Make sure there is nothing trying to sync if you dont have a good signal. Go to settings 》data and restrict background data. Keep facebook and other things from syncing when you really don't need them to sync.

I can't really say if the kernel affects the battery life that much, unless your underclocking which am overoclocked and still get great battery life but as of the smoothness saber kernel is great for me. I cant remember the last time I restarted my phone because of slowing down or just somthing wierd everything is smooth and fast all the time. Plus voodoo sound is very nice. You fail to show your screen on time. You probably have like 3hrs worth and at 55% for all we know. Which is what I actually get from this bad boy before I hit the 50% mark. On a good day I can get 6.5hrs of screen on time and I have lots of stuff syncing in the background.. 3 email accounts, Google services, Weather, Facebook, Samsung account, Skype, Tango, Twitter, ubersync, Voxer, what's app, YouMail and fring.
By the way did you get a brand new note or did you buy a used one? Battery could be faulty or another thing could be you are in a bad coverage area which drains batt.
