Hoping there is a simple way to remove the contact for 911 in the Emergency Dialer. My 2-year old has already called 911 twice last month while he is playing a toddler app. I am comfortable with rooting, if that is whats needed. I am using the stock AT&T rom.
Where is this even located?
Emergency call at the lock screen, dialer pops up, lower left bottom on the dialer takes you to a 911 contact that dials when touched.

screen lock options are worthless for privacy because if someone wants to snoop thru the phone while any of the screen lock options (password, swipe pattern etc) all that has to be done is to call the locked phone from another, answer the call, and without hanging up, hit the home button or menu and bingo, full access to anything that is on the phone, text messages, contacts pics, whatever is accessible normally as if the screen lock was not being used...for the duration of the call. to begin with if the scren lock is on, a call should not be able to be answered with out some kind of eunlock sequence or password entry as well as with reading incoming texts which are displayed despite the screen being locked,(just have to be quick to look at notification bar to read it when it comes in)....
so is their an app that fixes this security flaw?

Although, what are the chances that someone who steals/finds your phone will have your number to call it anyways?

Then if you lose the phone don't call it that's the last thing I would do,, get myphone installed on your phone that way when you. Lose it you can track it or send it a text to wipe and lock the phone,,,

i.m not worried about the phone being stolen or lost, i have 'android lost' app for that, its others who do have access to that phone when i'm asleep or away from that phone, like snoopy girlfriend etc
there are other apps that can set passwords/pins/etc to individual apps. i forget that name but i'm sure it's not hard to find. there's one for locking files on your phone/sd card called iLock which i use.
I'm not sure if there is a thread for this I've searched but I've noticed that when 3 way calling if I want to hang up with one person it doesn't allow me i would have to hang up on both callers and call one back I also had this problem on the OG epic. Does anyone know how to. Resolve this?

That's the way it works , it says that in the manual.

That's how Sprint's CDMA network works, irrespective of phone.
Got this from the manual pg 38-39:
3-way Calling
With 3-Way Calling, you can talk to two people at the same time. When using this feature, the normal airtime rates will be charged for each of the two calls.
1. On the Phone screen, enter a number and tap "Call".
2. Once you have established the connection, tap Add call and dial the second number. (This puts the first caller on hold and dials the second number.)
3. When you’re connected to the second party, tap Merge.
If one of the people you called hangs up during your call, you and the remaining caller stay connected. If you initiated the call and are the first to hang up, all callers are disconnected.
4. To end the three-way call, tap "End Call".
Is ****ing stupid...i hate it...
It is stupid and hella inconvenient us women love to talk lol so going through all the hang ups call back is super annoying but oh well... been dealing with it for this long..

Has anyone else had a problem with the Optimus G being more prone to accidental 911 calls so far? It's happened to me three times in the last week, more than my Galaxy S2 did in 2 years.
Obviously somehow the power button is activating the screen, and then pressure on the screen is activating the Emergency dial key. But why this phone and not the S2 or my Nexus One before? I've asked nottach if the emergency dial key can be changed from single button to something else in The Base ROM, but I suspect this is hardcoded.
I have never ass dialed anything in ever. With any phone.
I opened a text message by accident when the phone was in my pocket. Now I disable screen wake when receiving a text. The phone was in my front pocket. This is the first phone to do this. Probably because when I used iPhones I had to slide to open things and not just tap.

I have never actually had a 911 call placed, but i have noticed that on a number of occasions the standard lock screen buttons disappear (the call, text, browser, camera ones at the bottom of the screen) and are replaced by the dial emergency button. I have yet to figure out what causes this to happen or found any way to force it to happen.

The only time i have ever seen emergency dial on any phone is from no service. Is it possible youre losing signal or your sim is not fully inserted?
Never happened to me.
Please ask all questions in Q&A. Thread moved there.
Isn't emergency dial the only other button available on the pattern lock screen when the screen wakes up?
I've used pattern lock for my lock screen since the Nexus One and never had a problem with accidental 911 calls before.

Does anyone know how I can bypass the Screen Lock on a Samsung Galaxy S4 (Rooted stock 4.2.2) when an incoming call is ringing the phone?
I have hd caller ID that has an easy way to answer the phone, but my wife does not know how to open the Screen Lock so she can't answer the phone when I'm busy in the yard, garage, etc.
I've been looking for a quick fix, but I have not come across anything usable.
Thanks all of you for all your help to everyone that asks for it. Your answers often helps many individuals that have the same needs!
Aloha!
I am not sure if I completely understand. Are you saying that you have to unlock your phone to answer an incoming phone call? :/

Yes, the screenlock is still showing the big orange balloon.... I have to swipe the dots, then press answer.
That's weird cause even with screen lock, if there's an incoming call you should only need to swipe to answer or reject.

Are you running any lock screen programs like GoLocker or something similar? Default Android behaviour is to allow you to accept incoming calls without putting in your PIN/Pattern/Password. If you are not running another locker, then open up your dialer, press the menu soft key, and check your "call settings" options. Check the behaviours where you can press the home button to accept calls and see if you can accept calls that way. If not, remove your security code, restart your phone, and set it again. Let us know if any of these work for you.

thanks, I'll try what you suggested
When I get incoming calls I get 2 different screens at different times to answer. Sometimes it's the regular Android screen with the 2 bubbles you swipe to answer and others its square buttons you press to answer the calls. Why does this happen and how do I fix it?
Also I wanted to ask will I be able to update to kit Kat while using straight talk service?

I believe the bubble buttons appear when there's an incoming call and the phone is locked, while the square buttons when the phone is on the home screen. Not quite sure about straight talk though.
Updates are sent out by Google to the phone's manufacturer, in this case LG. Then they are sent up the ladder to your phone's branded service provider, again in this case AT&T. Lg will add their changes to the OS and so will AT&T when they get it. In the case of you having service with Straight Talk, it doesn't matter because ST still uses AT&T towers and service. So when AT&T pushes out the update for this phone, you will get it also because technically speaking, you are still on AT&T's network.
For the two different screens, Blitz is correct. There are two call screens. One when the phone is locked and one when its not (home screen). Hope that explains it for you.
Thanks to both of you for the help. I was curious about why it was different at different times. Love the phone bought it for $30 with a cracked digitizer and home button not working and fixed it for $30 and I think I like it better then the Samsung phone I just lost.
When ur screen is off and u receive an incoming call, u'll get bubble type option to answer or reject the call (swipe left or right). If your screen is active and there is an incoming call then u will get the option to simply press the green button to accept or red to reject..no swipe option if screen is active..
