[Q] Hyperion vs Mugen battery - Too good of a deal? - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I can not find any reviews on this specific battery or hyperion vs mugen for the note 2. I am eye'ing the mugen 6400 due to the size and the cover, but is this deal too good to be true, or are they roughly the same in terms of quality?
Also, what's everyone's opinion on one of these batteries with that mugen 6400 battery cover? Thanks in advance for any help.
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00A6UHNRW/drolif05-20

I was planning to buy it till I saw the whole text.. i like this thickness and dont want it to be thicker.. but hey 6400? Thats super. ..

Tempted even tho I had no intention of getting an extended battery

Does anyone have any experience with that exact battery though? It seems too good to be true. What makes that battery so cheap yet the Mugen so expensive?

There really is no reason why mugen is so expensive. Check this thread out and look at what I pointed out with the Mugen case.

How would you know that about the battery if it hasn't shipped yet?

I'm just saying there is no justification of why the battery and rear case is $100 when you can find alternative that have been out and reviewed. Not to mentioned the poor quality of the photo they provided showing the case not even fully connecting.

Do you happen to have any of those reviews? I can't find any no matter how hard i look.
And what about the battery i linked> Is it too good to be true?

Bumping since I'm just getting some vague answers but nothing else.
Again, is that deal too good to be true? That, and what battereis have been reviewed for the note 2? The phone just came out days ago, so how many extended batteries could there possibly be that can compete with ones similar to mugen? I found that hyperion one, but i can't find any reviews or opinions on it.

Mugen 3200mAh Battery Experience?

Heya guys, after doing some research, I'm thinking about buying the Mugen 3200mAh battery...I personally think it looks the best out of all the other extended battery out there. I was wondering if anyone has one already and could give me some advice on if it's worth the 90 dollars? I know seidio one is more efficient but look is worth the money to me..just want to know if it is a good battery.. any help will be greatly [email protected]!
Also I've read that Mugen back cover's speaker hole creates a muffling sound effect due to it being farther away from the actually speaker hole on the phone.. can anyone verify??

Yes. Mugen seems to also be the only one (actively listed on that site) that *****es about the testing procedures. Seido appeared to step up and fix their issues. Whether they knew about that site or not - at least they didn't cry.

Who has extended batteries and can we get pictures?

I am thinking about getting an extended battery for my Vibrant, specifically this one: http://cgi.ebay.com/3500mAh-Battery-w-Back-Cover-Samsung-Vibrant-T959-/280576737493. Now, I was wondering if I could get feedback from owners for extended batteries:
Which one did you get?
What is the quality -- how long does it last you?
Can you provide pics of how much fatter it made your phone?
Thanks!

Just posted some pictures and impressions of my new 2800mah extended battery with rubberized case.
Thanks man! 2800 doesn't seem to make the phone too fat. Were did you get a case for that?!

Oh you mean back cover. I thought you meant a case, like a TPU case.
Extended battery with Clear Protector for entire phone
Use this and your battery life more than doubles. It is very comfortable, rubberized coating, and the battery rocks. The door is quite thin considering and fits comfortably in the hand. They are also going to make custom clear protectors for the entire phone and have them up for sale within 2 weeks.

Reputable battery vs cheap knock-off manufactured with who knows what QA--if any. I avoid the dirt cheap batteries and chargers. Maybe I am just a snob tho

Yes. About 3.5 times the cost of a typical OEM 1500mAh battery but it's not like there is much competition at size. If they produced them on a scale closer to Samsung's own, they'd possibly be cheaper.
I've also seen the cheap non OEM batteries not even charge all the way up to their advertised capacity and then their efficiency is also worse than the OEM battery. I've also seen many Vibrants busted by using cheap batteries. They've overheated, exploded or caused component failures before exploding.
At least OEM batteries perform as expected for the most part. Anyone done any or seen any performance tests done on these Mugen batteries? I'd expect them to at least perform as advertised given the price. I might actually consider getting one of these even though it costs more than what I paid for the phone itself! LOL
If you don't buy direct, you can find the Mugen one online for less than $100.

Just an update with my Cheap Knockoff battery LOL. Its been running great with no leaks, no overheating or anything. its the 2800mah extended battery. Ive been getting 2+days with the battery. Thats with 3g on always, screen at brightest level and streaming slacker/pandora a couple hours a day. Please dont be scared to order one of the cheap batteries, they actually do work. Im just a cheapo that perfers grocery store brands vs the Big Name brands.

Can you please post some pics of your phone with new back plate on? Maybe next to a pencil or another common object for comparison?
Thank you.
I would like to see something better comparison wise than a lighter, I really want to be able to keep on 3g all day and get most of a days charge.. I have to keep off 3g, bluetooth, gps all the time to get 17+ hours out of my phone.. and heaven forbid I use google maps or something.
Don't get me wrong, my phone is awesome, I am used to having to keep things like 3g off to have enough battery, but it would be nice to be able to USE the phone without fear of it dying too early..

yea, i just bought one i will see how works
On the captivate forums a user bought a few of these different mAh batteries and did tests with some battery meters. None of the batteries did as well as the stock OEM batteries. Even known "good" brands like Seido didn't do well. The higher capacity batteries never did as well as even stock batteries and the cheap eBay batteries that matched the originals did really bad.
If i want an extra battery i will just buy it from AT&T or Moto - or somewhere that i know the one i buy is genuine.
i bought one today too
I asked the seller:
Does the battery fit in the original battery-case?
here is his answer:
his is andida battery. It is better than the original battery thick only little .do not worry,it could be use
Do you think it will fit?
I looked and it seems to me like there's not really room for a thicker battery....
Make sure to check out the seidio battery...that might be a good one.
Surely:

I would be very wary of any battery that is any thicker than the original. If you have to press harder on the cover to get it to clip on with the thicker battery, it could be physically stressing the circuit boards or other components.
its already shipped so i will report back when i get it if its not the same as stock i could use it as backup battery when im camping so for 12 bucks worth

Best battery?

Hi
Can someone please reccomend me a battery?
It needs to be reliable and made by a reputable company. I don't want to cut costs by skimping on quality.
I am looking for the largest good quality battery that isn't too huge.

No, a Samsung battery sounds perfect, I didn't know they sold their own.
Can someone tell me where to buy a Samsung battery in the UK?
I would really like to see somewhere with a list of all the batteries samsung sells for this phone.
And is Samsung definitely the best? Or is there another brand that will last longer over time?

Oh yes of course. That makes it slightly worse. Maybe I should order two 2000mah batteries.
My battery usage is just way too high for this phone to handle. I don't want to turn off any of my syncing apps as they are all so useful.

That's what I'm doing. 1 2000mAh battery in the phone, one spare. You can get the Korean batteries now that you have a back cover that fits the international version, as they tend to be cheaper from what I've seen. The Korean version of the battery fits well in the international phone with international back cover, but it is just a mite thicker. You may or may not notice the thickness, but it's pretty inconsequential to me. Main thing is that it fits and works!

Hmm the price and size of that battery are very appealing. However there is the issue of the unkown brand. Seems to have good reviews though, so I'm not sure now.
I think carrying a second back cover with me would be stupid, so I am limited to batteries that fit the original cover.
does the phone fit the covers/cases that are out for it still with that thicker cover or it makes the phone to thick for them?
cheers
edit: forget it...i found a post that covers this

TBH, i know what you mean as there are so many dodgy batteries out there but these seem decent. I got mine this week and they seem to last at least as long as the original ones if not longer. The 2nd charger is also very handy!

2430mAh batter - look legit?

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI....sPageName=VIP:watchlink:top:en#ht_2408wt_1141
I'm sceptical of ebay, however 2430mAh without changing the dimensions of the phone, they have great feedback. Will this give me an extra 38% or so of battery life? Or is it probably just a sham...
looks interesting, the price is skeptikal but the posting of it seems legit.. at least in my own opinion, don't really know until someone orders it and runs a battery test
and just a FYI, the genuine 2000 mAh extended battery makes the phone bigger but barely... and the phone feels a lot better with the extended battery.
I'd consider buying it, really wouldn't mind someone else's opinion first though. I already have the 2200 man battery, so I'm not quite sure if this would be worth changing for...

if that battery is not bigger than the gsm 2000mah extended battery(ie it doesnt need a new back cover) theres no way its 2400mah. when it comes to batteries oem is the highest quality so an after market one will need to be bigger to give more juice. you are right to be skeptical about aftermarket battery they always bs their mah ratings.

OP, that does not look legit at all.
Many times these batteries have a label showing a higher capacity...then when you peel it off the true capacity is underneath.
I'd bet its probably fake.

They also made it non-removable as well as ging it a huge bezel and a 4.3 inch screen, all while making it wider and only slightly shorter than the GNex.
This is a scam for sure. It's tempting though. But no.
