I received my Note 2 a few days ago. I found no screen defects, although my volume button is loose (and was confirmed normal as per other XDA member's feedback). I have a tiny black marker above the earpiece on the bezel (also confirmed by another fellow XDA member), and I know it sounds like I have OCD, but $700 dollars is not little. Also, I should mention, I purchased my device without contract from T-Mobile on their website, and the retail box (pristine clean condition) came in a bubble wrapped bag instead of an actual box I was expecting. Lastly, while un-boxing, I noticed I didn't find any plastic clear tape to remove on the sides of the bezel like I did in the previous Note (International version). My Note 2 only came with the T-Mobile Logo on front and Plastic on the back cover. Today, I tried registering the product on Samsung's website, and came across the message that my phone's Manufacture Date is 11/30/1993.
Is whatever I described above something to be concerned about? Or am I just being too anal. What about the warranty? Is my device refurbished? Should I have purchased at a retail store instead? My phone apparently came from Kentucky (Origin on UPS Scan shows Louisville, Kentucky) with a pre-paid return label to Forth Worth, Texas.
Relax..... That's not a refurbished device. You can check under the battery and it will be listed as a refurb.
I had 3 Note 2's with Sprint before moving here. They all came the same way. There's no tape on the sides of the phone. Only the screen and and back cover are protected by plastic.

I have purchased 2 notes from tmobile and they have both come in a padded mailer vs. an actual box. The inside boxes were sealed though, I had to slice through seals to open the box. I recall on the international version the back plastic actually wraps around a little to cover the sides, I think it was the same with the tmobile version as well. You can't rule it out entirely but it seems unlikely you got a refurb, in my opinion.
Thanks for the replies :good:, what about the power / volume button, little black mark, and most importantly, the manufacture date. Have any of you tried registering your devices yet? Please let me know. Thanks again.

Do you even have to ask? Consider the source, the world we live in for a moment. The fact is some devices are sold "New" even if they technically need be listed as refurb. If you feel so confused, instead of asking internet strangers about your own device, I'd return it online and buy one in store if it makes you feel any better. But at the end of the day it's just a cell phone

I'm not feeling confused; its really just the manufacturer date I am more concerned about. It might be just a cell phone to you, but $700 dollars invested into a machine like this is not little. The world we live in now requires most of us to think twice before we buy. Coming to the Note 2, Every Note 2 sold has minute issues like I stated in my first post. I might be just being OCD, lol. Also, It's a Samsung thing--QC at its finest.

Hey I'm I'm your side I'm just saying more action less debate about your money...if I purchase something online and I have doubts I don't need to consult with strangers on what to do. As far as the device heck yeah return it and buy in store if it tickles your fancy, our see a doctor about your ocd. In regards to the manufacturer date..this is not the first nor last gadget to have a funky date some are more accurate others are internal...not a big deal.....this technology clearly didn't even exist back then, uncommon sense tells you it's just a Samsung filler, just a date they used. Even if the date was this year..who cares lol enjoy your phone

Watched a couple of unboxing videos on the T-Mobile version, there was plastic tape on the sides as well. I'm just guessing it varies by batch. Lol.
Anyway, too much plastic. I think thats the biggest flop of Samsung; Plastic

I'll just contact Samsung, and confirm some details. It would be silly to return without knowing that everything described is normal on Samsung's part, lol.

:victory: I don't think OP actually thought the device was manu in 93 xD Probably just concerned it doesnt say 2011 or 12 like it should . lol
OP MADE IN CHINA is all you have to see to answer your questions about loose this or that . This isn't the first thread I've seen about loose buttons on this device. . China makes junk , period. We're kinda lucky as many of these devices function flawlessly from the factory. My and it apears few other radios were bad too I had to get a replacement . Fact is lot of these devices are OK. But chinese quality control just isnt on par with even korea or the phillipines.
Thanks AFAIK, everyone's buttons on the Note 2 are loose, even those Made in Korea (as per XDA Note 2 General Forum Members). I've had the Made in Korea Note and Galaxy S2 before and they both sucked in quality control and were Made in Korea. Its not country of manufacture, its Samsung and their best friend, Plastic. Why not just use rubber? Lol...

mine arnt . thats the only thing on this phone that is ok . I guess your right on the samsung. I've predominantly used HTC throughout my smartphone experience. And their build quility is top notch . maybe Ill trade this thing for a one x or something. I mean the device itself is cool but .
Loose buttons , gps not working very well on more than a couple devices , terrible radios the fragililty of the device itself . I mean I cant tell you how many times Id dropped the MT4GS and I never had any problem with it.

I've noticed quality issues on the Note 2, notably the bezel. The bezel is a throwback to the GS2 with the cheap electroplated plastic. Too easy to scratch, and out of the 3 or 4 I have had, most of them suffered from some sort of manufacturing defect. The GS3s bezel is actually constructed much beter, and I was hoping it would be the same. Instead it's identical to the Note 1 or the GS2.
I wonder how Samsung is able to sell something like this of very poor build quality. It's very shocking and insulting.
Very poor build quality? I have to disagree with you on that. They are built different, lots of plastic that's all. As far as I know anyway. My 3rd Galaxy phone model, and 4th total. I've never had an issue with any of them. However, for $700 I'd expect perfection regardless of where it's made. If you aren't happy definitely contact them.

What are you even talking about??
I've gone through a few Note 2s now (long story), but all of them arrived in a very thin bubblewrap bag, and had the back plastic wrap on loose/wrinkled/something. I'm not sure why that happens, but they were all new and unused. One had a power button that didn't work right, the other had a deep nick on the side (ironically, near the power button) - and that was painted so it was definitely a defect, and then another one had a bad speaker.
The 4th still doesn't sound quite as good as I recall the 1st sounding, but everything otherwise is great and fine so I'm sticking with that one.
Also, I think the front edge of the ring that goes around the sides of the phone has paint that chips, possibly? I think those with the white Note 2s could provide more info about that, because I also see tiny black specs there sometimes, but I can't tell if it's dirt/dust or just the paint, or what? It's really hard to tell since the grey ones are painted really dark hehe.
Awesome phones though!
Also noting: All of these were made in China, and one says rev 1.1 on the box and had a slightly clickier home button (made on 12/3 I think?) but all were virtually identical otherwise. They're really nice phones, just.. not HTC or Apple quality hardware-wise I guess.
After going through stages of grieving lol, there is just no other phone out there for me to get right now. Not even close.
What/when will Samsung do to replace the Note 7?
I'd still like a phone just like Note 7. Add bigger ram. I won't go into battery details, just make one that doesn't bloody explode
Keep the Coral Blue, it is amazing color (no other phone has it, Google Pixel only comes close and only on the back of the phone)! Keep waterproof, it was great not having to worry about water at the swimming training!! I am sure you can do it.
Make it soon.
Make it an exchangeable battery again. What a difference that would make right about now, eh?

It is unlikely that they will produce any phone to replace the Note 7. We will likely have to wait until next August to know what will happen. Also, they will likely end the Note line and call it something else. I'm sure by the end of October we will have more information.
Hopefuly. Call it Style or something (so it is not stylus). As long as it is still basically the same product.

end the note line call it something else ? they did mess up the recall but i doubt they will rename it , note name just represents what note series about
they will do nothing. Now will sell as much as possible S7 and S7E and when S8 comes they will just release it with note 7 body and new hardware... Thats why I rly don't want to get S7E... But you always can resell them :/
I have no idea, the battery in my iCrystalball just caught fire.
It appears Samsung don't yet understand this situation. Until they do they will not release any replacement for the Note 7. I don't think Samsung mobile division could take another hit like this. I suspect many staff at Samsung are having sleepless nights over this.

The s8 will come Q1 of next year. There won't be a new note or its variant until next August. They need a flagship phone to compete with iPhone which releases around that time. Their cycle of 2 flagships a year is perfect. They won't change that. They certainly won't have the note 8 compete with its sibling s8
Damn, just realised I miss Always on display. Didn't realise I have gotten so used t nit. Do you think they could give updates for N4 and N5 to make it more N7 like? Apps for Always on drain my battery like crazy.
Well, SOMETHING will be going on at least:
http://www.mirror.co.uk/tech/samsung-galaxy-s8-release-date-9016256
The Note will reemerge
Hi Y'all
I'm quite sure Samsung will keep on producing a phone with a pessure sensitive stylus.
Apart from this unfortunate incident, the Note series has been selling like hotcakes.
They singlehandedly started the "Phablet" category.
The Note crowd chose it for a reason.
I'm currently running Note 3 and Note Pro 12.2.
If i can't get a new Note there's no reason to stick with Samsung.
The Note series is the one and only "Native" pressure sensitive solution in -droid country.
I'm not even sure there is an aftermarket solution.
As far as tablets go - the Ipad pro is the only other viable solution - And that means switching ecosystem and spending a fortune in apps.
I haven't come across any bluetooth stylii that came even close to the S-pen. I do a lot of technical drawing. I NEED a quick working stylus.
A 12.2" version of the Note 7 (Well - without the exploding battery of course ) would get my pre order in nanoseconds.
Perhaps it'll get a new name (how about Galaxy Scribe ?)
Regards
Elo
TL-DR : No way they are canceling or renaming the note line. Note 8 will be more of the usual. Note 9 is going to be a game changer using new battery tech.
Every other post on any note 7 forum has been "there is no replacement for the note line." There is no way they will rename, or flat out cancel the note line. The brand loyalty is to strong.
The Note 8 will be a higher spec version of the S8, with the normal Note goodies. I don't think the Note 8 is going to be anything revolutionary including something new on par to the iris scanner or waterproofing. More memory, faster processor, the normal upgrades from the previous years model.
The Note 9, on the other hand, is going to blow the lid off the market in one major area. Battery. I see Sammy using it's muscle in available finances and r&d to bring to market one of these new batteries the dozens of companies around the world have been working on over the past how ever many years. I'd be watching the battery industry and wait to hear about potential big value purchases of these companies by Samsung.
Think about it. What has been the one sore spot industry wide? Battery. Samsung certainly has a reason to push this now, and it would be the one feature that would truly attack Apple.

One small flaw in your statement... The Note 8.0 came out in 2013. Logically, they'd already have planned on changing the Note name on the next release similar to how Google dropped the Nexus name on what would have been the Nexus 7 (since there was already two nexus 7 models in 2012 and 2013).
The form factor may live on but the "Note" name is dead and buried.

It means bad journalism. Are they claiming there were 23 new "fires" since the first recall so therefore those were all replacement Note 7s? That's a ridiculous assumption.

I see what you are saying about the Note 8.0 and agree with you. That info being laid out, I can see them changing the name of line. Not because of the explosion issue, but because they already used 8.
Regardless of the name, I still stand by what I said about the battery.

Sorry but I beg to differ.. Tab Note 8.0 will not be confuse with Galaxy Note 8. And 8 to Asians rhymes with Wealth. And it is look upon as a auspicious number. I'm sure they will use it.
But to me personally, it doesn't matter. I'm getting because of the function a hardware provides... not the name.
Sorry.. my bad. After reading carefully.. probably the number will still stays but the name Note may or may not..
Stick an S Pen up the bigger S8's arse. Scrap the note, and embed its functionality into the S edge series.
In spite of my best intentions, and really attempting to remain loyal to Samsung during a decidedly rough time for the company, I am being completely abandoned by Samsung. Do they care? Not at all. Do they think the loss of one (more) customer is significant? It would appear not. That attitude is not really great, but it's understandable. If we, the consumers are in a bad way over this, and we certainly are, depending on your particular circumstances, then it's not hard to imagine how messed up thing must be for those Samsung employees that are dedicated and we rightfully proud of the N7.
It's a nightmare for all. That being said, we the living still have to work and play and go on with our lives. I sat on a fence for a week, just paralyzed - I was in denial, I realize; "this can't be... it just can. not. be...
But acceptance is one of the steps I think, and with that in mind I came up with a plan. Trading the Note 7 for an S7 or S7 Edge was not an option. I already HAVE an S7 (work phone) and an S7 Edge (personal phone that I kept when upgrading to Note 7. Besides, neither is a Note. I sold my Note 4 when I got the N7. The S7 Edge is a beautiful phone. It's just not a NOTE. Different usage case.
So I decided, with my options disappearing, that a Note 5 was the best (least worst?) option available to me, as sad as that appears. The Note 5 has the newer build methods and materials, though it's not as balanced, nor as slick as the Note 7 was/is (or as slippery) and I sure don't have to list why it's a weak substitute in this space, but it IS the closest thing to a N7 in a Note Series phone. So I decide to bite the bullet and live with half the internal memory, no water resistance, a smaller battery (but not prone to meltdown at least) etc.
Guess what? No Note 5 to be had. There's obviously SOME around since a guy posted that Verizon got him one for about $375 or so - but AT&T? Nope. Nada. They must have divested themselves of them knowing that NOBODY would want one with the N& selling alongside it. Whoopsie. Bad call. Note 5 would be more popular today than when it was new on the market.
So I tried Samsung. Thinking I would give them a really hard time and hopefully get them to GIVE me one until a new model - ANY new model phone comes out. I have gotten stuff in the past when a company is trying really hard to keep customers.
Guess what? No Note 5 to be had here either. SAMSUNG got rid of them all, at least all the ones in the sales channel. So both AT&T and Samsung can't get me ANY model note phone, including prepaid devices or refurbs (why the rep thought she could find a Prepaid Note 5 is a joke in itself.
To add (another) insult to (yet more) injury, the AT&T rep tells me "You can use the S-Pen on the S7" I kindly explain to her why that is not so, no Wacom digitizer, thus no S-Pen, but she INSISTS! Sher READ IT SOMEWHERE (therefore it MUST be true, right?) So, since I HAVE an S& and 2 S-Pens (one kept back from the 1st N7 recall) I tell okay, let's TRY IT! HEY! Guess what? (I say that a lot here, don't I?) It DOESN'Y WORK! WHAT A SURPRISE! I am SO disappointed. But she tells me (wait for it) You must be doing something wrong. My documentation says a stylus works with the Note 7. FACE PALM (when what I feel like doing is reaching through the phone line and (expletive deleted)
So yeah. Truly without a viable option. And the sad part is, I didn't even WANT the damn Note 5 very much, but was willing to make the best of it, AND stay loyal to Samsung, and buy yet ANOTHER Samsung Phone next year. They keep this up they will be competing with HTC and Motorola on phone sales again. You can't stay at the top of the tier when you a) have no product to sell at that level, and b) Give your (potentially loyal) customers no way to remain so, despite their willingness to work with you.
Based on these realizations I have to believe Samsung will reap exactly what they are sowing today which is big losses of sales, loss of market share, and loss of loyal customer base. It doesn't get much worse than that. But fret not. Even these extremes wouldn't send me over the dark side of the apple.
Note 5's for ATT are everywhere. Have you looked at Amazon lately? BH Photo?
My search was really fruitless. No Verizon Note 5's anywhere except at Verizon, where I would have to pay as much as the Note 7 costs while simultaneously losing my Upgrade status and be stuck with it for 24 months to boot.
So I feel for you but only half as much as I feel for me.
Yes but I need AT&T to GIVE the NOTE 5 to me. I dont want to buy one, lol! I would, under the right circumstances give up the NOTE 7 (sob!) but there's no way I am using up an upgrade or the GO TO on an N5. It has to just be a placeholder, not a replacement for N7.
Just to ask:
Have you tried calling Samsung's Note 7 department based in Colorado? The number is 855-291-6255 - no matter who you first speak with ask for the Note 7 department in Colorado. If you get any grief over it tell them you had called earlier (a little white lie) and you had been on hold with that department for an hour or so and got disconnected and nobody has called you back.
I know of 13 people personally that have used that method to get a full retail refund of the purchase price on their Note 7 devices: 5 of them with AT&T, 4 of them with Verizon, 3 with T-Mobile, and 1 with Sprint. How do I know? Because I gave them that number and those instructions last week after I saw the number posted over at Reddit with the same info and instructions.
Now, as of this minute Samsung might be doing things a bit differently, I don't know, but 5 (2 from AT&T, 1 from Sprint, 1 from T-Mobile, and 1 from Verizon) of those 13 people I provided the number and info too already got their refunds this week (they told me when their checks arrived). They also returned their devices to their carriers and were told to either keep them or wait for Samsung to send the return packaging.
It sure can't hurt to give 'em a call and see what happens. If you're successful and you get the refund congrats, now you'll have money to go buy whatever phone you want (given that if you were under contract with the Note 7 purchase you'd be paying that off if required, some carriers are just writing off those losses at this point).
I read the other day that the Note is only good for about one or two percent of their phone sales, so while it bites, it's probably not biting them as much as it should be, resulting in a general feel among people that they don't care. Or that's my guess at this point.

Thanks for your thoughts, I appreciate it, but I think you may have missed the entire point of my long winded tale... I don't WANT a REFUND. AT&T will give me a refund, take back the device, shut down the extra line I assigned it and all that. None of which helps me in any way. What I need is a NOTE PHONE. Having sold my perfect condition NOTE 3 and Note 4 after grabbing the Note 7, I have nothing to fall back on and no way to GET a NOTE PHONE. Having a refund leaves me without the phone I need and no reasonable replacement. Thanks anyway, though.
So you're trying to get a Note 5 for free? You think they're just going to do that? After all of this mess?
You said AT&T couldn't find one to sell you... so what is is, you are trying to get one for free, or you can't find one to buy? Apparently you CAN buy one. https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-N920C-Factory-Unlocked-Galaxy/dp/B013WACF4S?th=1
This has sucked for everyone affected. Personally I've been through two Note7's and ended up with a S7 Edge. If I wanted a S7 Edge I would have pre-ordered it when it came out. I stuck with Samsung because I use their features across all my other Samsung devices. Those devices include a NotePRO 12.2 (my laptop), Note 10.1 2014 (retired - now primarily my TiVo remote), Galaxy View (my portable home and away TV), and Gear S2. I use SideSync, S Note (including the Windows app), Scrapbook, Samsung Link, Samsung Pay, and Samsung's browser (ad free w/o root) and wasn't prepared to give those up. My non-Samsung device choices on AT&T amount to the LG V20 (too big for its screen size, not enough sizzle) or iPhone 7 (I'm not changing eco-systems). So I'm keeping the S7 Edge until the S8 comes out which will most likely be a Note7 with beefier specs and no S Pen. I'll hope for a Note8 in the fall and then I'll move from the S8 to it.
Like OP I had Note5 I was fine with. If the Note7 never came out I would have kept it and waited for what followed the S7-series. I do like the S7 Edge though and like the edge features I grew accustomed to on my time with the Note7. Since I do use S Note heavily I picked up a Tab A 8 with 4G and S Pen that I imported from Malaysia. It's a nifty small little tablet that's great for taking notes and it's on 6.0 so has the Note7's S Pen features. When I only want to carry one device I forward my calls from my S7 Edge to it and I can send and receive MMS on it using AT&T's unified messaging.
So I've exchanged phones three times, have a phone I wouldn't have chosen, and had to buy a tablet I wouldn't have needed. Sh!t happens. Samsung didn't want what happened to happen and neither did AT&T. I'm loyal to Samsung and Note devices especially so I'm just rolling with it. Of the over a dozen Samsung devices I own or owned this is the first time I've been let down. Assuming this incident has taught them humility their future products will be the best designed, best tested, and best QC'd on the market.
It is what it is.
Wow this thread truly makes my head hurt....
Let me make sure I get this right.
You are fully aware you can get a refund... for the FULL RETAIL AMOUNT of the phone, but don't want to do that, because you want AT&T or Samsung, to give you a Note 5... as a matter of principle???
There are PLENTY of Note 5 devices available for sale, at a MUCH lower price than the Note 7.
So you are UNWILLING to get a refund, and use that money to BUY a Note 5, and use the rest of the money for whatever you want.
This makes Z. E. R. O. sense. Please tell me I am missing something here, but getting around your generic rant and getting to the details was a bit difficult. End of an era? Like others have stated, the Note is a small percentage of their total sales. Until S7s and S7 edges start catching on fire, the era will continue just fine.

I read the other day that the Note is only good for about one or two percent of their phone sales, so while it bites, it's probably not biting them as much as it should be, resulting in a general feel among people that they don't care. Or that's my guess at this point.

I can understand their point because I have gone through the same dilemma.
I had a Note 4 I was relatively happy with, but starting to get long in the tooth. I tend to get a phone every 2 versions if the new version is reasonable (so went from N2 to N4 for example). I never considered the N5 as I have a pretty full SD card and no way am I giving up running that.
So the N7 specs came out, and it was everything I wanted. Fork out the huge $1350au and pre ordered it. The rest of that chapter is well known (2 perfect Note 7s in 4 weeks).
Now, with what is assumed to be total abandonment of the Note 7 series, what are my options?
1-full refund-ok, but then I need to get a phone (N4 is now being used by my wife)
2-S7/S7E with gift card style refund ($450/$350au).
I forked out the $ to upgrade to a phone I really wanted. Now I have to still lose some of those $ to get a phone I never really wanted, nor would have considered.
The only resolution I can see is to have Samsung provide a loan device and re-release a Note/SPEN model again with SD card ASAP, or allow the cheap purchase of an inferior model and a discounted purchase of the new model when it becomes available. I will certainly be somewhat out of pocket over all this, plus not being able to use the phone I really was wanting to buy.
I have decided instead to get the closest phone to the N7, the S7E, with the Samsung offer in au it is basically getting it for $100 less, and hopefully it will have good resell value when the next N series comes out (but I haven't sold a phone in a long time now, always handy to keep older phone just in case!)
I never certainly planned to buy two new phones so soon!
I think buying the N5 at this stage is a massive compromise for most (esp with so little on board storage and no SD slot), I would think anyone taking this route now is doing it temporarily to keep them going to the next N release and thus 2 phones purchased when really they were after just 1, thus why we get all these threads. The N7 is almost perfect, anything else is a compromise until the N7 comes back into sale again (as N6+ lol).

I will still buy another samsung phone most like the next s8. Yes, i need to return the phone twice. But i got a few valuable free gifts. And got a full refund at the end. Not even iphone will do that. If you do the math, Samsung basically just gave me a travellers charger, a wireless charge, a power bank for free. So, why not getting the s8 next year, you won't have anything to lose

I seen the reddit site where people were talking about this refund process. So you know people who have confirmed getting a full retail check back already? I wanted to take this route with my sprint note 7 but I didn't want them to de activate my phone once I call to get the box sent. Rather it be blacklisted once I take it off my account when I get the return box.
As stated, the 13 people I provided that info to were "OK" with getting the refund from Samsung. Since I made that post one other person got their check already as well so it seems to be the course to take. Samsung might change things as I mentioned so the only way to know is call it and see what happens.
Can't speak for any blacklisting going on, all I keep hearing are rumors and the occasional report from someone that says their device has been blacklisted but there never seems to be any way to verify those stories. If the carriers actually publish statements that they plan to blacklist the Note 7 (which is within their rights to do since it's their networks) then I'll attach some more credence to it at that time but I don't expect it anytime soon if it ever does.
Samsung has said they'll accept returns through December 31, 2016 so, after that we'll see what happens with the carriers too I guess.
When buying the S7 Active on eBay how would I be able to know if the phone is made after the July 2016 date? Are all S7 Active phones made after July 2016 fixed? Don't want to get one to find out it took on water or something... the S7 Active is the nicest looking phone Samsung has made yet and would like to know it works as its advertised!

no physical difference from what I can see... you'll just have to message the seller, give them simple instructions to screenshot the date. it's a shame how samsung being so big and experienced, still are unable to fully test their products. at least bloody test the specific features of the phone, like water submersion! turn on youtube and throw into a pool and check it lasts 30mins, how hard is that?
Ok so after watching an episode of unbox therapy I discovered the pablo Escobar fold 2 which is essentially just a samsung galaxy fold fold with a shiny gold back skin and different lock screen etc. They bought phones from Samsung and rebranded them as their own. My question is if I bought one and removed the gold skin etc is their anyway to reload it with the stock samsung fold bott up screen etc putting it back to stock like it was from Samsung.?

Looks like a big scam so my advice is to save your money.
It's possible but....
If you look up the escobar inc fold 2 on YouTube and watch the unbox therapy video of it they actually sent him one. So back to my original question, could the stock samsung firmware be put back on the phone and return the boot up screen and wallpapers to stock like it originally came from Samsung?
yes we can tweak!!!

I really didn't understand the meaning of the post actually. The thing what we have to understand is, android provides the facility to upgrade as we need. And come to the main question, my answer is, yes!! we can tweak the firmware but on our own risk.
This is so obviously a scam, the video on Unbox Therapy was presented in a pretty tongue in cheek way. Escobar inc. claim that they can sell the devices so cheap because they have purchased a bunch of "overstocked" Fold devices. I just cannot believe this. AVOID.
I'm sorry what I should've said was...
When the company acquired the phones from Samsung to "make them their own" they changed the boot screen so it says Escobar Inc instead of the Galaxy fold boot up screen and also removed all the factory wallpapers that came with their phone and made it Pablo Escobar's face so IF I took the gamble and got this phone could I, (with y'all's help) return the phone back to the way it came from Samsung with original boot up screen and wallpapers?

Last summer same people were selling flamethrowers. If you check information about such sale campaign, for instance through a Google search and/or in Reddit (LINK), you'll see that :
Such flamethrower was just a rebranded third-party product
.
There have been "production" issues according to escobarinc...
.
Meanwhile, purchasers received certificates instead of flamethrowers
.
Certificates' shipment trackings (that had original order numbers as shipment references) have been used to counterclaim Paypal disputes
.
PayPal terminated its agreement because of merchant TOS violations by escobarinc
.
So far, purchasers haven't received any flame throwers
Now, just perform a simple word replacement :
Flamethrower(s) -> Phone(s)
.
Certificates -> Books
.
Paypal -> KLARNA BANK AB (CC agreement since 12/2 to 12/6) + STRIPE INC. (CC agreement since 12/6 to 12/17) + CCBILL LLC (CC agreement since 01/15 to 02/14)
and you'll get same Fold story since December and onwards.
When such things happen and there are clear evidences of a voluntary repetition of the violations, it's not anymore just unfair trading (unfair contractual terms, misleading advertising, no access to redress), a matter that would fall under the competences of consumer protection agencies.
Simply, it's a scam = a matter, that falls under the competences of law enforcement agencies.
As a consumer, you are always free to make your choices...
Yet, there are really too many "red flags", including also the lack of buyer's protection with current payment methods (direct bank / money transfer and cryptocurrency).
If even those big Youtube channels (including MKBHD too), who have received their special deliveries through DHL, are recommending to keep your money in your wallet, you can draw your own conclusions.
Side notes :
It's true that we know that there are 2 users, who don't own big Youtube channels, but have received "golden skin" Galaxy Fold units on February 5th... even though all purchasers have been told by escobarinc that shipments would start only in March.
They received such units only because they have been selected, just to use them as unofficial advertisers.
LJP Tech - living in UK - received his unit from Sweden (on January 31, after lunch someone went to a PostNord service point, dropped the package, paying by cash), thanks to all his video-updates on Youtube since December about his Fold1 order.
He wrote them that he had a Youtube tech channel before & after his order. Even though his channel had < 5k subs, his videos have been indeed the most popular ones about such phone, obviously until big Youtube channels (Mrwhosetheboss and Unbox Therapy) haven't published their videos.
Daivy #DBL - living in Belgium - placed instead his Fold1 order on January 15, paying through CCBILL LLC, according to his comments. Unlike LJP Tech, who paid his order in December 16 through Stripe Inc., he used a CC payment provider, that had not terminated its agreement (yet).
Therefore, he was the best choice to show how even "average joe" users - without Youtube tech channels - could have quickly the phone in their hands, just by paying through available payment methods at that time.

The bootup screen is the same per a review video I saw on thenextweb. (Not sure if I'm allowed to post an external link.) So... Nothing to change.
It's literally just a Galaxy Fold. But, with pablo wallpapers, a cheap gold sticker backing for the purpose of covering the Samsung logo on the back, and a really cheapy box (with thick golden square plate in the center. The reviewer compared the packaging to a cheap knockoff cologne box)
Screenshots Attached
And don't worry...we all know the real reason why you were asking that. We all have been tempted to do the same
Luckily we know it's 100% a scam. They check for names of tech reviewers, and only send those. Per a tech reviewer on youtube. He got his phone after tweeting a message that after months he never received his phone. The one he ordered under a different name never arrived.
When people say they want their money back, he tells them to come to Columbia and take it from him.
