So I noticed that CWM does backups on the internal sd instead of the
external sd. I went into settings and the option for external sd backups
is greyed out. I REALLY dont want to have to move each backup I do
to external sd everytime I make one. Any advice on why its greyed out,
or a solution? Thanks in advance!
You can always use twrp

Cwm 6.0.1.2. Instead of choosing backup, scroll down a little and you will see backup to external. Coming from earlier version of cwm I missed looking at the menu too

ok here is the situation, i got clockwork recovery installed and wiped all data to flash a new rom, but my phone wont read the memory card so i cant flash the rom. How do i mount the phone to move the rom over to the internal storage with clockwork or how do i flash a rom using odin.
Does the phone boot up? If so, are you saying that the SDcard isn't being mounted or are you referring to inside clockwork?
the phone boots up, but i dont know how to put the rom in the phone so clockworks will see it
Im trying to mount the sd in clockwork but my computer is not seeing it, any ideas?
Get an actual sd card
Dont use the phones virtual sd card

In the blue clockwork, go to install zip from sd card, then select the option above the "go back" option, I believe its choose from external or something.

Edit:
you can flash from the external from the external sdcard if you go to
Mounts and storage
and mount emmc - if you have the option. Once that is done go to flash zip from sdcard, then (and this part is counter intuitive but) select
Internal sdcard - and this will actually take you to your external sdcard.

It depends on what kernel your running. Some kernels with CWM are not "fixed" to see the external sd card. To make things worse some of the kernels won't allow usb mounting. I'm on Chris41g's kernel and it does in fact see and flash from the external sd.

Hello!
My Epic 4 G died and today I've bought Epic 4G Touch. Right now it is rooted and installed Clockworkmod recovery 4
Only one problem I don't understand. I took SD card from Epic 4G hoping to restore everything trough Titanium Backup. But I couldn't see nothing from SD Card. Put that SD card to the computer and everything is here. And available space saying that SD card not empty. But how can I use it?
Is this possible?
Help me, please?

Update cwm to one of the new ones they have been fixed to mount sd card not just internal
But if you are saying that titanium can't see it copy that folder from sd to internal and then use it

That's the problem. Update to new CWM where you can flash from internal or external SD card. Also, I recommended restoring apps only. I don't know if restoring data is a good idea...possible data corruption

Just thought you may need root explorer to copy that file from sd to internal ...or just do it on your computer

Had the same issue coming from my EVO 4G. Just used my computer to transfer over USB into internal memory.
Shortly after flashing CWM 5 (because I searched the interwebs for an answer) I was able to see everything on the SD card again.
The easiest way to fix this is to open titanium, hit the menu button, preference. Scroll down to "backup folder location" then hit "detect" then save and your done.

I just rooted my phone yesterday and have been experimenting with different roms but it seems like every time I install a new rom my SD card has one less gig of free space. I am following the instructions every time I flash (clearing data, etc) but there is still less and less free space. Before I rooted I had around 8 GB free. Now I'm down to 1.5. I would really appreciate some help and I'm sorry if this is a repeat question. I searched the forums but had no luck.
Are you making nandroid backups? Each backup usually runs gig so that's probably what's happening. There should be a nandroid fodder on your sd card that they are all saved to.

No that's not it. I have only been using titanium to back up my apps.
Is it possible that the backups that I make in clockworkmod are the reason all the space is gone? If that's the case then how do I delete the backups made there after flashing?

Yes. Your backups made with clockwork are a big space hog. You can back then up to your computer to save SD card space then remove them from you SD card. They are located on SD card in clockwork/backups

Yup those are nandroid backups. When you make a backup with cwm in the recovery that's what's happening. Sorry, i quoted the wrong folder in previous msg. There is a clockwork folder on your sd card that contains the backup folder where they are all stored.

Ok when I got my note 2 I formatted my sd card through the phone. I was using it with my Droid Charge. No problems. Now that its in my note2 every CWM backup I do doesnt go to sd it goes to phone.(or titanium) I went to filemanager and I cant move the back ups to sd card. So my question is.. did I format sd incorrectly? Meaning I shouldve used PC or am I just missing something? I dont have a card reader and its a 32 gb sandisk.(rooted and stock) any help is appreciated. Thanks

When you are in CWM are you choosing to back up to external sdcard or just backup?

You can try formatting the memory card by connecting your phone in 'USB storage' to PC and format by PC and then repeat the process.
Hope it has works for you

I have been researching ways to save space on the internal sd card. Feel free to add a few.
Move Google music cache to ext sd. www.youtube.com/watch?v=lYFw9bEAzM8
i couldnt watch the whole video haha... something about the dude annoyed the hell out of me.
as far as saving a little space though you can also delete any system audio files such as the alarms and ringtones youll never use anyways. I also used titanium backup to delete all system apps and bloatware I dont use.
quick question. How much storage do you guys usually had left after full wipe and flashed new rom? Mine only has about 3gb left is that normal?

I have nearly 7gb... Make sure any backups are on the external SD card as well... These backups take a lot of space and by default are stored internally.. At least with TWRP they are.

A lot of camera apps including the stock app store images on the internal phone storage. I usually set the the storage to external sd in the settings (if available). If the options not available, a smali edit can be made (if im not mistaken) or, transfer the images to sd when they build up

How do you access the ext from twrp? I was trying to figure that out.

Twrp > Backup > Storage: ... (its a button under the "set backup name" and "refresh sizes" button). Click that and change it to micro sd card.
