Coming from a GS3. Held the phone in my hand last night and fell in love. Everybody at work has iPhones and already mock me for my large screen...wait till the haterz see this. Just wanted to say hello...see if you guys have any pointers for this beautiful phone. I'm definitely rooting it and cant wait to use the multi window function. I love my gs3 but since grabbing my N7 the gs3 just seems too small. I'm probably going to run AOKP. I have to check the ROM section to see what the revs have cooked up.

Jedi Master ROM's ftw! In the words of ****-knocker "Don't fuk with the Jedi Master, son'!
You guys would know better. T-Mobile dude said they were going to have a sale in about two weeks. Note 2 would be free with a new contract and probably $200 off without a contract. I am under contract still so would I actually save $200? He was a nice dude but I'm not sure he is the most knowledgeable salesperson. I asked a few questions and he didn't seem to know much. Please let me know what you guys think because I want this phone...BADLY!!

Lol,..I finally got it. Wound up being the mission from hell. Went to mall last night, first the guy tried to charge me $799. That turned into a "discussion". Then he didn't even have the damn phone. I called several places from the store locator but all of the authorized dealers were closed. Complete fail. There was one about 20 mins away but I kind of snuck out of my house in the middle of chores so that was not possible. Had to wait until today.
Local store doesn't open until 10. I had to be at work. Went to a different store on my lunch break. Fail. Waited 45 minutes but received no help because there was one person. Had to leave work early at 730 tonight to grab it before they closed. Only to have to go back to work to finish. But...finally I have it!!! Ordered a Seidio active case and holster. Should have that by Wednesday. Going to root this tonight once I get it charged. I will be a Jedi soon!!

Good luck, you going to basically follow: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=34900851&postcount=33
Are there any warranty concerns if one can reset binary?
BTW, got Seidio Surface case Friday, I just ordered the Seidio Active Case (sans holster as I personally never really used it when I got it for my EVO but do use http://www.amazon.com/StickStand-wedgi-Smartphone-Kickstand-Navigation/dp/B004EVFO1G - also may get surface case in white when available as my EVO liked it ) , kickstands FTW !
Rooted and flashed Jedi Rom with multiview. I am quite sure that once you reset flash counter and fully restore back to stock you have nothing to worry about. Seidio makes great cases, have one for my N7 and love it. Had to get the matching on for my N2. So far amazing phone. Way past my bedtime playing around. Tomorrow will be a miserable day for sure. Oh well...

How long did it all take you so I have an idea how much time I have to set aside?
Are you going to install Perseus kernel for exfat?
-Thnx, also curious how much you will be using your N7 now that you have this..
It was fairly quick. I used the toolkit to root, im lazy. The flash process went very quick. In between still playing with the phone and reading it took me about 2 hours. If you dont waste time you could root the phone in literally 5 minutes with the tool kit, flashing the jedi ROM maybe 20 minutes. Thats with creating a nandroid of stock. If you are restoring from google, apps from your previous phine could be a but longer too. I havent touch the N7 much since getting this but I will definitely use it still. I love both this and the N7. Once im over the excitement of playing with this N7 will get most of my attention again I am sure.

This http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1957720 or Android root toolkit ? Is there a chance of irreversible damage with that toolkit or when following the link instructions below?
Is that easier-better than http://galaxynote2root.com/galaxy-note-2-root/how-to-root-galaxy-note-2-easiest-method/ & http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1955423 ? How many times have you rooted ?
What about link instructions for installing Perseus kernel or do you not care about exfat?
-Thnx-the extra 1.45" on the Nexus7 offer that much of a different experience from Note2 because I'm still looking for a 10"-12" tablet with expandable storage & docks into a solid keyboard with extra battery & ports..maybe an updated faster Transformer I could install Win8 on or even considering the Samsung ATIV Smart PC 700
The toolkit basically walks you through that process, they are the same method. Ive never had a problem using any of mskip's toolkitz. They are great and work very well.
As far as tabs, all personal preference. I was going to get the N10 but opted to get this phone instead. I love the N10 but I had a 10" tab before and I find them just a bit too big. For me the N7 is perfect and I find it significantly larger than the N2. I still want the N10 but of all three I think it would be the one I use the least. 7" tabs for me are ideal. Great for everything very versatile.

Ok guys, here's my "delimma". I have an upgrade available to me. I've been wanting a gs2 since it came out in Europe. I had every intention of getting this within the first week it came out on tmo. BUT, reading about all the issues with lines on the screen, resolution, etc, I'm skeptical. It's basically going to be this phone or I'll cancel my line (I'm on a family line). I havent had a chance to play with one in person yet. So, in the meantime, I'm trying to gather opinions on the phone.
With all that being said, if you had a chance to relive Wednesday or whatever day you bought the gs2, would you buy it again?

I would for sure. I think it's the best phone on T-Mobile and T-Mobile is the cheapest out of the major wireless providers for me.
I am eligible for an upgrade to my iPhone 3GS from AT&T. Picked up a Galaxy S II and ported my number over to TMO. Almost everything about this phone is better than my old iPhone. Couldn't be happier. Oh, and I'm paying less for my plan, too!
Yep, I can relate to some. I tried the epic 4g touch version on sprint. If I could swap the internals with that it would be more awesome. As it stands though, once root is here and I can tether I'll be stoked. As of right now I'm happy with it. It feels solid and has a professional look and feel to it.

I'm going to give it a try again. The SGS2 was the phone I wanted from the git go. Sounds like the ones with the least amount of problems are the 9/28 boxes.
I'm going to give it one more chance tomorrow after I get off of work and I'll keep it over the weekend. I honestly really want to love the SGS2.

So I recently had a friend tell me his s3 hasnt been doing very well for him speed and service wise(he has sprint) and I did some digging around on google and some forums to try to help him out.. and the more I researched the more I saw posts about all the issues with the s3... problems with it charging to horrible battery and reception to other things I can't remember now.. and Im here thinking to my self.. man I LOVE THIS DEVICE. On full stock rooted I really have no issues.. my battery lasts reception is ok for me in Miami.. not the best but certainly not bad. I really dont have any problems that would make me want to return the phone. Im curious to know how other users feel about this beast and what some of your experiences are... tips and general experiences are welcome..

I think i agree with your friend. The Sprint's S3 does suck. My uncle has a Sprint S3 and it is a bit laggy compared to mine...so maybe its not the phone itself, but the network carrier. So radio/baseband has to be culprit for everything thats weighing the phone down.
I also had the s2 international version that worked flawless (and I flashed the hell out of that thing) but my sprint buddies all had complaints..
I forgot to mention in OP that some of the bad reviews I read also included our tmobile model.. but I am incredibly happy with mine.
Sent from a device high on jelly beans.
I had virgin mobile(Sprint owned prepaid) and service was good in terms of making a call, but data speeds were inconsistent at best. I also had numerous problems with text not going through. I would expect sprint to have at least some of these problems

I too love my T-MO GS3, by far the best Android phone I have ever owned. I live in Miami and I get regular speeds of 15mps to 18mps. I have rooted, flashed, themed(international forums) and this phone has given me no problems what so ever.
And remember, most people who have no problens with the phone aren't going to post about it online. Its much easier to find out what went wrong for people because they always come online loking for help!
That silent majority is, I imagine, quite massive considering the millions of these phones that have been sold! That's a lot of happy people going about their lives without ever needing to seach for help!

I really have no issue with the S3 on t-mobile. This is the first Android phone I have with great battery, fast, lot of available memory for the apps to fly,... Great reception and I think I pick up 4G at some places that would be on Edge or 3G when using the S2 or Sensation.

I like both, my god its just phones... an enemy in my definition is someone who has crossed me.. you do know there would be no android without apple right? The guy who created android worked at apple & stole key features. That' why jobs said he will fight android until he dies. Let me put it like this: what if your close friend kidnaps your sister & you know about it & see her with tape on her mouth & arms lol if not a sister then your mother.

So you change ROMS during the week/weekend? I never thought of doing that - I guess Titanium helps? Sorry. I'm still a slight N00b. I just rooted but am keeping it stock for now. I just Dl'd Titanium but am confused on how to use it. Guess that's for another thread lol.

Hello all!
It'd be nice to get some guidance on my upgrade (Yes, i know some just think.. "aww ****, to hell with all these ppls upgrade posts" so if that person is you, don't bother givin me **** for moving on. everyone does. thanks.)
First of all,
It sucks balls to leave this awesome community.
I've learned a sh*t-ton about my Epic and many other things from some very respected people, who all friggen rock. lol.
Soo, onto my topic & small dilemma.
The upgrade date is Dec. 1st, 2012. Although, I love the style & feel of my Epic, I may be heading towards something a bit different. I have gone down to the Sprint store and checked out some really cool devices but I'm kind of sitting here scratching my head because I'm very picky, luckily though, I was (offf coursee) drawn to the Galaxy S III.
Given its lightening fast 1.5GHz dual-core processors,2100 mAh Lithium Ion battery (9hrs talk time), beautiful (yet kinda big) display (4.8" to be exact), the JB OS, 16/32GB memory, 2GB RAM and other things here and there. Now, the Note II, damn dude, talk about a big display. That one takes the cake. Idk if I could really be happy/satisfied with such a monster display ... 5.5" ?? & I know thats not THAT much bigger than the S III but in hand you'll see the difference.
On the other hand, theS Pen™, 3100 mAh Lithium Ion battery (15hrs talk time), 1.6 GHz Samsung Exynos Quad-core processors alone sounds damn good to me. The only thing that bothers me (obviously) is the bigger display.. So I'm considering other devices because these 2 devices give me a headache sometimes lol.
Anyway, my options & opinions are open for anything.. I'm not tooo picky and my mind is NOT set on just those 2 phones.. I was just throwing them out there because I like 'em both.
One thing..
Don't even think about mentioning the iPhone's, that is one phone I'd just piss on nd save the p.o.s as a weapon against the zombies, then let those retards have at it (hopefully piss on it too.)
So, apart from that, I'd like to hear some input from you guys n gals.
&maybe even whoever has upgraded from the Epic and is happy with their pick.. Your wisdom, knowledge & opinions are appreciated! either way its all good so let me know! Thank you in advance.

Why not still stick with keyboards? America variants of S3 ALL SUCKS to me. Now on market you can have LG Mach, Moto Photon Q and (later) Verizon Stratosphere 2... And if I were you I would definitely first consider a Nexus 4 (all powerful and better than S3, though have to wait for a bit)

Trust me bro my eyes have been open for some decent devices with physical keyboards that have at least like dual processors, so far I haven't seen much.
Prolly because I have Sprint nd Sprint doesn't have the biggest selection of pretty good phones (like the Nexus). I wish. I don't see many disadvantages with getting the SGSIII, imo. But everybody feels different.

Your best bet is still the 2 threads in General that I recommended to you. But the S3 is awesome but you will miss the keyboard for a few months. Samsung seems to have listened and fixed everything we complained about of both Epics S and S2.

Yes I've been reading through those threads the last couple days or so. Its hard to say, because if Id like to keep the physical keyboard then, to my knowledge, I have one choice: Motorola Photon Q 4G LTE. Unless I were to go with the S III. Are you happy with the S III?

Yeah, exactly, on one side of the coin it's new improved technologies and all. Then on the other, there's no keyboard but I figure i'll get used to that.
Kenny, I believe your just the man for guidance here lol. You have great knowledge on this and you switched from the Epic to the SIII. Like I said in my op, I'm looking for input from someone who has done that.
So I suppose i'm asking you if you think the SIII might be the one for me.. ?

Plus, I came across this thread: Sprint offers SIII for $49 on Black Friday...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=34349652
Although, this is before my upgrade, could I just simply go in and buy the phone and activate it on my upgrade day (Dec. 1st) ??
lol don't really kno how that works.
Thanks.

No. They can't give you that price without an eligible upgrade line. You will get used to the keyboard or lack there of. The phone is truly amazing with 4 times the RAM and 16 times the phone storage plus an available sd card slot. When I got it all I did was root and run stock for a month because if was so damn fast and smooth. You won't be disappointed. Call Sprint to see if you can move your upgrade up a week.

I called and got it figured out. I think tmrw my upgrade will be eligible if I pay the $50. If I send my Epic to them, they said I'll get $28 for it and the $50 will be billed to my sprint account next pay. So, basically, if I go for it, I'll be paying $72 for the early upgrade and a new SIII not bad eh? It sounds like a deal. I can't imagine 4x the RAM lol that is a huge improvement, not to mention the other awesome specs and features that come with it.
It very well may be the SGSIII for me... Hey and if it is maybe Ill be bugging you even more for help
Im sure I'll decide to root it and flash a nice stock rom.

Hmmm...I may release something this weekend over there and let The People support it as they have here. The Epic community are the best.

Start with JellyBomb if you like lots of blue:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=34457819
Or prerooted stock here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=34451043
Or any ROM in that development forum. I hope to finish mine by Sunday.

Outstanding! I knew you'd figure it out, your the mastermind of operations! haha
I LUCKILY received my SIII today, at first they told me they were sold out and I got there an hour after they opened! No one had even gone there and gotten one yet... AND THEY WERE SOLD OUT?! wtf?..
So, since they love me oh so dearly there, they had a couple stashed away and grabbed one for me. Like I said, luckily. lol
I had a question though, maybe you have the answer lol, do you know if the SIII is root-able withoutt Odin via starting the Odin flash counter ? Or should I not worry about it and just buy a usb jig when the time comes?
Thanks Kenny

That really was a remarkable deal for this phone. Too bad I didn't need a new contract at the time. Still they had it for only $199 for upgrades. Anyway it was on backorder at the time (and I HATE waiting for backorder) so I just went to Sprint and bought it full price. The good news is they gave me $90 for my old E4GT that I got for a penny on AMZN wireless so it's all a wash

Lol couldn't wait so I ended up getting one off ebay for $550. Very worthwhile upgrade compared to the s3 in my opinion.

I also came from E4GT. I was hated there and I fully expect to be hated here, lol
Also from the E4GT. Loving this phone so far. Fast, smooth, and unrivaled battery life. With the screen size, I'm not sure how much I will be using my nexus7 now.

Actually still rocking my E4GT on another line... just figured if I have to move off my MVNO and onto Sprint that I might as well do it on a good deal. Didn't think I'd find one better before June.

So Verizon discontinued the Nexus today, and I was wondering what I would get if my phone was replaced by insurance through Verizon?

If they ever come back in stock for longer than an hour.
Since Verizon kick the gnex out, I wonder if Verizon is going to sweep your 4.2.1 update under the rug and act like they forgot about it.

Heh, NOW you can REALLY forget about that android 4.2.x update for your GNEX....
That's what I was thinking too. Or we may not see for ungodly amount of time.

exactly, it's not like verizons going to bring anything groundbreaking out with the official 4.2.1 release, so really, who cares? i feel bad for the people who aren't into messing with their gnexs being stuck on 4.1.1 because verizons being a bunch of douches. as far as i'm concerned, i'm keeping this phone till it dies, and i might even buy another gnex after this one, as long as development is still rolling with it.
About two weeks ago I got mine replaced by verizon due to my phone having charging issues. I went into the store, didn't call before hand.
I had flashed back to stock before i went in. Told the girl there that it wasnt charging right and i have multiple batteries and they all do the same. she went to look up on some database if others were reporting similar issues (there were none). after giving her my phone number and 5 minutes later she said a replacement is on the way and to mail my old one back in the same box (shipping was paid for)
I was very pleased by how quick and painless it all was. She never touched or looked at my phone at all and asked hardly any questions. my phone also had a chip in the screen (about 2 cm at the bottom right, no cracks though)
the replacement phone had a sticker saying "like new" replacement but it was absolutely pristine. absolutely 100% perfect cosmetically and works great as ever (screen colors seemed better than my original one imo).
As with my luck with CNL devices, I've had nothing but problems with them from Verizon,GNex included. Hope you got a good one.
