Anyone see blackspots on their TMobile Samsung Note 2's in a dark setting?
EDIT:
Forgot to mention, to check for the black spots, set your phone to lowest brightness, then dial

LCD TEST
Select the Vibration Option, and wait for a minute for your display to adjust
You need to do this in a completely dark settings,
Observe Carefully, and then post your observation here,
Any Black Spots?
Posting Pictures using a DSLR camera would be great. I'm surprised Samsung has not resolved this AMOLED issue yet.
yeah i have like a little circle near the bottom right of the screen
I'm not seeing anything on mine... Here's a pic I took with my tablet.

Questions go in Q&A broheim.
I get that, but only on the Launcher. Especially the TW launcher.
its only on black and low brightness
Its pretty common almost every s3 or noteII will have some. But I was pretty picky when I first gone mine and since I work at t-mobile I replaced 3 phones until I got one that didnt have any.

Well I don't have black spots but I do have a cracked screen now :/
Insurance is giving me a new one on Tuesday. I'll check that once for the defect.

I noticed a black line on the left side of my screen when using the camera in low light. Was going to send the phone back for a new one but didn't want to have to put a new screen protector on. It doesn't effect any thing, only can see it with low light with the camera.
Any pictures showing the lines or black spots?
am I blind or am I the only one not seeing an option for black under that menu? I see red green and blue... don't see black.
Select Vibration, and the black screen will appear, let your eyes adjust for a few seconds in a completely dark setting then report your findings on this thread.

I just got a stuck pixel on my phone in the bottom of the screen, i picked it up today from the local T-Mobile store, anyway to pix it or am i gonna have to return it?
best thing to do is to return it for another one
it's very rare to see a stuck LED on the SAMOLED+ screens
it stays even after a reboot?
yea i rebooted it 3 times and i also ran those youtube stuck pixel fixers that flash billion colors on the screen really fast...it didnt work its still there
Stuck Red Pixel
Anyone else have one?
It's really not a big deal, except that I've only had the phone for two days. They usually go away on their own after time but I have to admit it's annoying.. because I purposely look to see if it's their when I'm in the web browser, which is really the only time I see it (only really visible on white background)
take it back and change it ASAP
Dead Black Pixels? Picture not rectangle?
Okay so I was about to go to bed when I realized that the phone died...so I plug it in and I was like wooooahhhh wtfff...
I see all these weird dead black pixels and on top of that the battery isn't perfectly rectangle...the back part is zigzaggy...I tried to take a picture but it doesn't come out..
Try it. Go into a really dark room and turn phone completely off. Plug it in and wait for the battery picture to come on...any of you see the multiple dead black pixels and non rectangular battery? ?
An alternative way that I also tried was a black background on the lock screen...I saw only a few dead black pixels...not as much as plugging it in...dam I thought my batch was perfect...
You can take a screenshot by holding the home key and pressing the lock button.
Sent from my SGH-T989 using XDA App
That wouldn't help because its a hardware problem. I'm going to return it and wait 2 months and get it at a cheaper price....
are you sure those are dead LED?
there's no pixel in SAMOLED displays, each "pixel" is actually a LED
so are you absolutely sure those LED at dead?
if you put a HD picture on screen of a uniform colour, does it leave any black spots?
That's what I meant, thank you for clarifying....I see splotches on dark shades of black...its like the screen is dirty, but isn't.
I actually have a spot I didn't notice until last night, its a red spot that's stuck at the bottom. So that's a dead led?

When I turn off my phone and connect to the charger in the dark, it show the battery charging and surrounding it are black dots and lines. is this even normal? does everyone got that or its my defective device?
I just got my replacement from samsung using warranty, phone is not refurbished!!! Is brand new with a date on the back of 3/12, oh and is made in china my original was dated 09/11 and was made in Korea. Took a few days though, they were back ordered

I have two Galaxy S II's and one has no lines what so ever, but it looks very yellow and dingy. The other looks richer but it has the lines. You have blobs/streaks, you just can't see them.
When I got my first SGSII I had those pesky lines and blobs, exchanged it at a local Tmo for a new one and the issue was gone for me too.
I have looked very carefully and I can confirm, lines are non existent
Check the back to see where yours was made, maybe the korean models were defective
Maybe we'll get lucky one day and Samsung will get sued or something and issue recalls
wishful thinking...
You want proof
Here's a pic as it came on the box
When the other poster said pics, this isn't what they had in mind. They were referring to pictures with the screen on lowest brightness in a dark room viewing the blobs.jpg.
This would provide "proof" that your screen has no lines or blobs.
here's what you do. download a pure black picture. when it is night time. put that picture up on your phone and turn off the lights. take a picture with no flash. upload here.

He really doesn't need to prove anything. If he finds it perfect then. So be it. The issue is just a placebo effect.

DID YOU RUN THE blobs.jpg TEST? The black vibration test hides the flaws. A near black screen like grey shows it. Hell, I don't know who, but as someone said, opening the XDA app itself shows the flaws.
EDIT: DO YOU EVEN HAVE THE SGH-T989 PHONE? LOL.
if the XDA app splash screen has lines going through it...then yeah you have a T-mobile SGSII
Turn your brightness all the way down (not really necessary but it just shows the lines even more) and open XDA app, TADA, wood grain son.
I can confirm that the blobs and all have certainly been lessened. I just got this white model a little less than a week ago and the screen quality has vastly improved.

i tried to contact samsung care here but they said its normal no need for other phone & if u want leave ur phone for 10 days to see if its need to replace or not
but here in egypt we have a bad service they dont know anything & say its normal
its show in notifications bar & anything have a black color
it shows in just in dark with low brightness
is this spots & lines r normal?is it going to be big in future?
What I know they don't grow or get worse. They are static.
I have some on my device too but as I said, only see them in unnatural circumstances. Just try not to focus on them.

Exchange it, as I said, I had the same exact thing going with my S2 a couple of years back. Re-flashing the Firmware will not correct this. I know how you must feel right now; the right thing to do is exchange it, because that is certainly not normal.

So they are gonna exchange it. They don't carry the phone in stock usually. So they order comes In next day. They can't get white cause it's 10 days wait so they getting me titanium Grey. The guy was trying to scam me and wasn't gonna exchange it. He didn't know I knew the policies.

Good, I'm sure you will like the Titanium Grey. I find it more professional looking than the white. The Grey looks sleeker, and less plasticky. Be sure to check the phone thoroughly before leaving the store. To make life easier, when you are in the store, type *#0*# in the dialer and make sure your phone is glitch-free before giving it the OK. The LCD Test is generally used as a Check-list. Don't forget to also check the buttons (Volume, Power, and Home Button) to make sure they are registering properly. Hope you enjoy your new phone.

Lcd test (*#0*#)
First, you will test Red, Green, and Blue, this will help distinguish any pixel anomaly (dead pixel); if there are pixels that are not consistent with that particular color, you know that is stuck/dead pixel. To go through the RGB, press red for example, look for any pixel inconsistencies, then, press the back button, and do the same for the Green, Blue, and Receiver (White).
When you arrive to white, look for dead pixels there, and also check to see if there is any tint (pink or yellow); if there is 'too much' you have the right to refuse.
There is not much you can do in vibration other than check to make sure the vibration on the phone is working, if you are able to get old of dark setting, you can search for any black lines or splotches (if there is too much mess underlying the screen, I would refuse),
In dimming you can check to make sure that the colors are consistent on both sides of the screen,
Mega cam checks to make sure camera is functioning,
Sensor confirms to make sure accelerometer / proximity / barometer/ lights / gyroscope sensor/ magnetic sensors are working, place you finger on the top sensor on front of the phone and the screen will turn green (confirms proximity is working), you can move the phone in your hand and the numbers should change accordingly for the accelerometer, barometer, lights, gyroscope, and magnetic sensor. Swirl your phone in towards you and the magnetic sensor should turn as well (the black circle),
In touch, follow the pattern as displayed on your screen, if all blocks register green, then your display is perfect for touch response,
Sleep will make sure the display turns off,
Speaker confirms that the speaker is working, I
In Subkey--press the volume buttons (up and down), power, and home buttons, the color of the display should change accordingly,
Press front cam to make sure front cam is working,
In LED the notification lights will appear and as you tap the screen the color will change accordingly (you should see red, blue, and green).
Wacom Test--take your Spen out and draw along the pattern, if all works congrats,
In Low Frequency you can go through each set of Hertz just to check whether or not the screen is functioning normally,
Skip Barcode emulator test (as long as your rear mega camera worked, disregard his step),
In Sensor Hub test face the phone down (screen on table) and the sensor should respond PASS.
Remember, you need to press the back button after completing each test in order to do a different test.

So looks like my pixel XLs screen has uneven white tones. There is a slight pink tinge on the left side that you can see when the Night Light mode is on. Or any dark grey backgrounds. And white is warmer on the right than the left. Do you guys think this will go away or should I just exchange it? That's the only thing I find defective. Besides that, an awesome phone.

Unfortunately colour shift is a well know amoled screen issue. Some phones have it more than others, its just a lottery on the type of display you get.
You could see if they will let you exchange for one and hopefully get a better screen.
I have couple of S7 Edge and had a one plus 3, those didn't have any issues. My Nexus 6P had it the worse and got it exchanged couple of times till I got the right one. I might have to do this for the pixel. Sigh... Hate that about AMOLED

If it bothers you, exchange it. Samsung has gotten better this year - both my Note7's had ZERO color shift on white which was a first for me. So far my Pixel XL looks pretty great, but I haven't tried looking too hard to see if it is a problem.

Samsung phones don't if you have the profile set to dynamic or whatever it is, it's the mode that over saturates everything. If you put it to natural then it's the same as the pixel.

OP's thread title refers to white balance which would mean color calibration/profiles, but the content of his post is actually a problem with screen uniformity. Changing the color calibration is not going to do anything if his panel is not uniform in displayed color.
Bottom half of my screen is super pink. Top half and bottom half of screen are very different colors on white and gray screens. Used the support option in the settings menu. Will have a replacement coming in tomorrow.
I went through 3 6Ps until I got an even screen, they all had tints to varying degree but the last one I got was fine.
I'm going to get mine exchanged.

Mine has is but honestly I have noticed it to a certain extent on every device I've had that had an amoled display (I have never owned a note or GS7 so I can't comment on them) but yeah, I noticed it right away. Mine is on the top half of the screen. I'm not sure if I'm going to end up exchanging it or not because I'm sure the next one will have it to an extent too and having them hold close to a G for every exchange really would suck. lol
I think some people notice more than other people. I know I notice it on other devices when the owner never does. I had a 6p that was really bad exchanged it and got one much better. I remember one dude exchanging his like 8 times and he said every single one had it.
Note: The title of this thread sound be changed to "pinkish hue" or "pink tint" or something like that

Interesting. I called support today because my screen fades from white on the bottom to a creamy white at the top. This is with brightness at halfway. If it's at 100% I don't notice it, however it's way too bright to look at. Anyway, Google told me it was within standards and not replaceable.

They said if it's not noticeable within the top 1/3 of the brightness slider then its within spec. Honestly, it's probably something nobody else would notice, it's that slight. I wish there was some type of way to measure the white scale to prove I'm not crazy.
