Best Minimalistic Case that Works!? - Galaxy S III Accessories

I have been looking at the cases.
Hear me out I don't want an otterbox like case that makes your phone a brick..
Is there a case that protects your phone all side and is not bulky?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda premium

I've said it a million times, To protect a phone like this you need a bulky case. Slim cases might take a drop or two but you'll be replacing the case or the phone.
You may as well go naked if you only want a slim case.
My trident kraken as taken 100s of drops , phone still looks brand new, waiting on the Griffin survivor to come in the mail now.

The Seidio Surface case is thin and covers all sides including some face down protection. Great quality and feels good in the hand.

The Incipio NGP is a good choice too.

True, but when you get asked by people "does that case really protect the phone?" I'll be more then happy to give a demo.

Check out the Case Mate Phantom. It's very protective and looks and feels great. It isn't as bulky as the other tough cases and the built-in screen protector is actually decent and doesn't attract dirt.

That looks like a great case, does it have a built in screen protector? Is it too grippy to slip in and out of a pocket when you aren't using the holster?
It looks like he has a separate screen protector installed, so I'd say no.

Yup wyatyoss, its the sp from the otterbox commuter. Only negative for me is it doesn't fill the whole screen but aside from that its a really tough and scratch resistant protector.
Thanks cade80, its a great case and I recommend it if ur looking for a rugged and functional case and holster. Its not too grippy at all really, goes in and out of pockets just fine as long as its not cramped in with other stuff.

It's a little grippy, but still easily goes in/out of your pocket. The only complaints I have are:
1. The rubber part is a lint magnet. Not a big deal since it wipes off pretty easily.
2. The clip on the holster hooks on a rubber part of the case. It makes it pretty difficult to holster the GNex with one hand since the clip catches the rubber part. It would be nice if the case had plastic at the top so it would just click in to the holster.
Despite these little flaws, it's a great setup. I mainly use the holster at work so I don't have to worry about it getting nasty while in my sweaty pockets. lol.
Bought two for both mine and my Bros gnex. Its really nice got both for 22$ each at www.versiomobile.com I love it... he thinks it slips too easily out of the hand.

Any other cases that'll fit the ext battery that offers a kickstand? Like this case but a tad too bulky for my tastes..

I use this case with the verizon lte version + extended battery.. it's tight, but works..
I've had this case now for months.. I rarely use the kickstand sadly.. however the kickstand is a bit weak and the phone leans a little more than I would like while using the kickstand.. but its the best option I've found thus far..

Opinion on cases?Silicone,TPU,hard,something else?

Hey there guys...i just ordered my s3 and i saw a few videos where the s3 screen breaks very easily!
I also read the silicone cases or the TPU ones provide excellent shock resistance so i'm thinking of buying one!
What do you think?Which case will provide more protection to my phones screen? (i'm only intrested on not breaking the screen, the scratches etc are lower priority...)
I also ordered an InvisibleShield not that it'll make much difference but i'm just sayin'...
For me.. Both!
There are some cases that has both soft (mostly tpu) and hard frames stacked together for better protection. I'm thinking getting SGP Neo Hybrid when it's released. I believe someone post this video somewhere. But, I couldn't find any image of it. I used it for my galaxy s2, and it was bomb.

Since I haven't met my 10 post count yet I can't link
I'm using one of the Rocks Sand series cases that I picked up locally for ~10 USD. Big fan of the texture, very easy to grip and it doesn't look bad at all with my pebble blue S3.
One of the biggest bonuses I think is that the headphone jack up top isn't obstructed as it was with some of the previous rubber cases I used with my S2. Headphones with right angle plugs had problems being inserted firmly.
I bought 3 ebay tpu cases for my galaxy s3 and they all have horrible fitment =(...stay away from them
Just got my first case. $5 and it feels like it. Very. Thin, has what appears to be decent grip on the side but hard to tell without the phone. I bought it for the kickstand but it feels pretty cheesy to say the least. It won't even hold itself straight up on its own. If it works well with the actual phone I'll take the time to update my feelings about it.

Seidio Holster + Cruzerlite TPU = Perfect!

I really like the TPU type cases and always end up getting a holster so I took a long shot buying a mix and match set-up, and luckily, it worked out great. The GS3 with the Cruzerlite TPU Case fits perfectly into Seidio's "Surface" Holster. I will post pictures as soon as I can get them. Links below...

that is pretty damn sexy... I have the surface case and holster myself... but I must say that is a great combination... I have one question though... do you feel it snap in place when you put it in the holster... because I would think the TPU case is made of silicone, no???

Hmm... I guessing by "snapping in place" you mean not lifting the spring clip and snapping it in? I've always lifted the spring clip to install my phones so I don't create drag marks in the plastic. I did just try it and it can be done, it just needed more pressure than I would like to put on it every time I install it in the case.

Thanks! I was wondering about this exact combination. I've always had a holster, but tried just carrying my GS3 in my pocket, but I just can't get the routine down, getting into the car and putting it into a cup holder or on my lap.
I'm also looking for a top loading holster rather than a clip-in one like this.
Thank you so much for posting this. I was just googling this combination for 20 minutes. I knew I should have just come to XDA first. This community is the best.

Which case do you like better. I've eliminated all cases but these two. The Maxx has the edge though because of the holster.

This case felt good in my hand, the only negative thing I can say about this one, is that the silicone was a little big. If you take a look at the last two pictures, you can see that the phone has room to move. The first pic is w/ the phone pushed all the way up, and the following pic is w/ it pushed down... That's the only defect I saw.
Between the heftiest 3... Ballistic SG Maxx, Otterbox Defender, and Trident Kraken, I would recommend them in that order.
But not the UAG? Interesting...

The UAG is not a dual layer case like the sg maxx, otterbox, kraken. It's still a great case but it's one piece.

It's not a heavy duty case, IMO. It's the one I have chosen.

Is there a gap in between the screen and the lip when you removed the screen cover? Would a self-adheseive film make up the gap? How are the port covers, do they open by them selves like some otterbox cases in the past?

trying to find the ultimate case.

am trying to get the best protection . for my GS3 . i had the obex great protection but made my phone sound like ****. looking at the griffin, box ballistic HC which i had on my EVO. or maybr wait for the lifebox?

Try out the otterbox or Kayscase. Otterbox has more protection, larger and more expensive while kayscase makes ones that are slimmer and cheaper.
The Griffin Survivor suffers from some sounds issues. I took the membrane out over the speaker, problem solved.
Other then that it's a great case, I gladly demo the drop protection by throwing and dropping for the heck of it.

I really like my otterbox defender. Very sturdy skeleton includes a durable screen protector similar to like gumdrop cases and shock absorber for the back. the rubber outside is nice to grip and its not the silicone stuff that attracts dust and hair like some do. a little pricey but worth it if you're clumsy like me. also comes in dozens of colors.
SPIGEN have a nice case for S3, little pricey tho
