Hi everybody,{hoped i'm in the right forum},anyhow,I have the s3 from sprint,I rooted, installed TWRP and CM10 stable on it,it was fine for a while, then decided to flash a kernel, witch went fine, ran that for a few months,no problems, but noticed it was eating my RAM up,so I did a complete wipe, formatted the phone and card and all, used odin to put TWRP recovery back on the phone, went fine, downloaded my cm10 rom on it{original rom from laptop}started brand new again,i have kunstooz? kernel on it,I cant spell the name, but its not the kernel im having issues with, but whenever im on the browser,on the net,its fine, now sometimes i would go on facebook,it would all the sudden close,{no katana warning or nothing}and revert back to my homescreen...does it more when i click on links from facebook, and some{most of my apps} like benchmark ones would just close....thats it...no would you like to wait crap, not responding stuff,Always went back to the homescreen....no lags,glitches,....I encountered that problem on my galaxy s vibrant, reset the google framework, and it was fine after that, but not sure on the s3,I just dont want to brick it again,Its fine now, exept the problem stated..I never really came across that before,I really dont know now,I looked in my root explorer,I cant find any thing wrong,I did full wipe a few times,I just dont know why its doing that....Thank you for any input,I just about got it themed andtweaked to my liking now except stated problem...
I have a Motorola Droid Bionic & am seeing the same issue on my phone with CM10. Browsing along with the stock browser & then the browser window is gone & I'm back at my homescreen. No warnings for me either.

Ive been running CyanogenMod V4.0.4 for a while now with No problems
last night I decided to Install a theme with the CM updater and went with Dark Dream
everything seemed fine till about 12 noon today
In those 2 hours I lost 3g and can only get on edge
Rebooting fixed this for a short while. Then it was stuck on edge again
rebooting took forever and it was still stuck on edge.
then the phone rebooted itself about 3 times randomly
Now i cant get the phone to boot past the G1 screen
any ideas? I do have a nandroid backup from last week and even though thats easy I am hoping i dont have to do that
Thanks in advance
I forgot to add that it is the latest stable release of the theme from the CM updater
and i cant boot into recovery mode, it is just stuck on the G1 screen
basically, if you flash a theme, and then want rid of that theme, you flash over the current cm your running. so if you still have it, try flashing it over the top.
if not, nandroid restore.
double. pardon my dust
p.s there is a new cyanogen mod out, id upgrade to that if i were you.
isnt the newest CM still experimental ?
at any rate My phone is stuck on the G1 screen and i cant get into recovery
Ok, went away while the Phone was stuck on the G1 screen
battery died in a hurry, plugged it in and it booted fine
Still on edge but once charged ill see if i can get a better signal
I guess I like the theme enough to give it another try as i dont see anyone else with these issues
and for the record i did try the latest CM experimental build 4.1.999
and it was BLAZING fast. the only reason i went back to 4.04 is because I couldnt get my browser and market working even with a wipe following the CM steps
I may try to wipe the SD card and re do the partion if things are still not stable with the theme and 4.0.4 .. thank god for nandroid haha
Yea- this doesn't surprise me, as that theme messed up my phone bigtime- try to pull the battery, do a "recovery boot" when you put it back in, and see if you get there after that- chris
Hmm, well the phone seems fine for now
but you have me wondering if it will happen again
I couldn't get the phone to go into recovery, I think i got lucky after waiting a while
I guess I will look into re doing the partion and trying 4.1.999 again
I really loved the speed and smoothness and if i can get market and the browser working like everyone else it will be great. i can wait on bluetooth to work as i dont use it much lately
this should be in the Q&A thread
but anyways i would flash cyans latest release if i were you
I don't understand. This theme works fine for me! Never had any trouble with it.
Just like when some people have an issue with a rom that others dont
I imagine it could be any number of reasons.
now i am running 4.1.9.9 and though i had issues with the phone turning off and freezing on the G1 screen it hasnt happened in 4 days and i havent done a thing
You have to remember that sometimes the .zip files simply get errors for some reason. If you read around you will find a number of people who try and install only to get an error, then then restore via nandroid and re-download the file and re-apply and it works. If you are using the browsers google chrome, Safari, or EI, I would say switch to firefox when it comes to downloads of .zip files. I have noticed that I have 100x more errors when not using firefox.
i had dark dream on 404 before and it slowed my phone down so much i didnt even care for the theme anymore. seems all cyanogen roms WITH a theme die. except his his older ones.
So I I've had 2 different recoveries so far that have worked fine.. both came from Rogue though. One was from the 1.5 kernel (Hitman) which installed CWM Touch recovery, the other came with the normal recoveries based off CW 5.0.2.7. They were working fine until I installed Calkulin's Rom(2.8.1). Not sure if they're just incompatible or what, but when I go to recovery it shows the background image of the recovery but none of the options show up. It shows for about half a second and then it goes back to the original boot screen, then to the 2nd screen and turns on. So it basically skips right through the recovery and reboots. Do I need a new Rom or can I fix this? I really like the battery life and visuals of Calkulin's Rom and would love to be able to keep it.
EDIT: One more thing.. Since I installed the ROM, I've been getting market error 492. It doesn't allow me to install anything in the market..
I haven't tried a full wipe yet, so I guess I'll try that and then see how that works with the recovery and Rom..
I did the same thing to my phone this week, and I'm running Blazer, so i'm sure it has nothing to do with either ROM.
Not sure how I caused it but with so many folks running both without this error, I'm guessing that your issue (like mine was) was probably some how self induced.
I flashed back to stock and started over, and things have been working great. Might be worth a shot flashing back, or restore a backup and start fresh.
Haven't seen the market error before. I'm sure someone here has
Good Luck
If you got it off here, could you show me which stock you flashed..?
Everything you need is in the Epic 4G Touch Android Development section

Watch the videos by Qbking77 They walk you thru everything step by step. (I hear his video intro rif every time I close my eyes now so you've been warned) Makes it super easy.
I would read everything you can and watch the videos before you get in too deep. I've had this phone since December, and just flashed my 1st ROM this week cause I've been reading up, and learning all I could before I jumped in the pool.
Well I've done all this with 2 phones before but I've never had this happen.. normally I just get the Rom and I'm good to go..
I think I must've gone wrong somewhere when I originally rooted through a stock rom.. It already seems to be more respondful.

Try booting while holding the volume up and power button.
If that does not work, flash recovery from rom manager, and that should get you into recovery to flash whatever kernel/recovery u want.
I've done all that.. None of it works.. I'm currently ODIN'ing Factory Stock Rom with root. Hopefully after that I can redo all of these and eventually end up with a working, corresponding Rom and kernel..

Recovery and market are now working Thank you Adanorm!
Glad your back up and running
First off, hi again XDA.
Second, I've been having this problem for a while now... One day, I was working on something and I was running Team PSYCHO's JB ROM (...or someone close to that name) and all of a sudden my phone said "Shutting Down..." and turned off. I went home, plugged it in, left it charging for about three or four hours. I go to turn my phone back on and find out it's lagging out all the way. I thought it was just a root issue that happened because no matter how many times I attempted to take the battery out and restart it, it didn't want to stop lagging. I wiped the cache, almost everything (I didn't wipe the /system because I wanted to get something off there if I could, and yeah....that didn't turn out so well.) So, I go to unroot my phone and find a PGIMG32 file from XDA that everyone was using, just to be denied by my phone saying that the radio/firmware is higher than the one trying to be installed, aborting, so-on-and-so-forth. Tried doing CM9, lag. Tried going back to the JB ROM, lag-city. Decided to go to CM7, it worked fine (for the most part, still had some lag here and there.)
So, I switched back to MIUI and Venom (I now use the Venom wiper everytime I switch a ROM) to find out that those two were still laggy. Currently, I am sitting on MIUI and I am going to try that INC2 respiratory that someone put up (100% forgot the name, but saw the thread.)
My question is, does anyone know how to get rid of this lag?
Thanks again.
P.S. I don't get an upgrade until March, so if it could just last me out until then.

Try connecting your phone to your PC, mounting as disk drive so the PC reads the card and not your phone. If the lag goes away then it could be something with the SD card maybe. Don't unroot yet before researching. Be sure you are checking md5 before flashing to ensure a good download. If you narrow down to a SD issue, remove any files you need, and wipe and reformat the card.

TL;DR; version on the bottom.
Hi everyone. I'm long time user of xda, though I rarely post, because I've always found the solution for my android problems until today.
I've bricked many phones in the past and always managed to get them back up working, including my Galaxy Nexus that has been bricked easly over 10 times... possibly over 15.
Anyway, yesterday I was testing some Kitkat 4.4 stuff on my phone. my daily ROM as been paranoid android for a long time. since they were on 2.8 or something.
First I installed nexus 5 launcher on my gnexus because I really wanted to test the new google experience thing.
Then I thought it was a bit slow, and decided to install a full 4.4 ROM. ended up deciding I couldn't miss some of the paranoid android features and flashed my paranoid android rom back (3.99 RC2), installed the GEL (google experience launcher) installed xposed framework and put my device the way it was pretty much.
To make GEL a bit more faster and fluid I decided to overclock a bit (I've overclocked alot in the past up to 1900+ Mhz and never had problems though I know it's not healthy for the phone.)
I've overclocked it to about 1500... I just wanted to see how it would work and then turn it back to normal again.
I got distracted for some reason and forgot to turn it off (and I think it might have been that... something burned inside or something...)
At night I was checking something on the browser, and then the phone suddenly reboots, which happened in the past several times (people that flash alot should know).
the phone started boot looping on google logo and from my previous bricks I knew it was bricked and I did what I usually do.
Went to recovery mode, wiped everything expect internal storage, dalvik cashe, system, cashe and data.
tried flashing paranoid android and gapps, didn't work. Then proceeded to flashing stock rom, didn't work either.
From that point and from my previous bricks, I knew it was something more serious than just rom.
So then I did a odin flash, and I thought it would be fine after because odin never failed me before. I did odin flash, it did the google logo boot, and then started the boot animation from the stock rom and after 3 seconds looped google logo again followed by the stock nexus bootanimation (before it only looped the google logo boot).
I searched a bit on xda, and found this thing called OMAP (I used this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2146790), which apparently is something you do when your phone has no software at all (for people that somehow mess their bootloaders and/or downloading modes )from what I understood.
I tried it out, it kind of worked I believe though I found odd that my device kept reconnecting to my pc as "omap4460 usb device" every 3 seconds.
After that I did a odin flash again and didn't work.
After all this I'm thinking that the problem is not software but hardware because of that little overclock I did and forgot to undo.
Any help would be appreciated.
TL;DR; Version:
Was running paranoid android 3.99 RC2, installed the new GEL (google experience launcher);
Overclocked a bit to make GEL faster but intended to put the clock speeds to normal after;
Forgot to set the clock speeds to normal (though I'm not 100% sure that's what messed my device);
At night while using the browser the device rebooted and got stuck in google logo bootloop.
wiped everything except internal storage and flashed paranoid android, didn't work, flashed stock rom, didn't work either;
Did a odin flash, device appeared to boot, at least got over google logo boot, and started the stock bootanimation, but kept looping that.
Did OMAP (I don't know the right term for this... OMAP flashing? I don't think that's correct)thing to see if would fix the phone, then odin flash again but didn't work.
Any help would be appreciated
How do you did the OMAP Flash works? My problem is little same, but i cant enter to download, recovery or fastboot mode, and I read the OMAP can help me, but when I star the process of OMAP my GN don't change anything, and in the OMAP says the process is finish :C!
Do you know something about this? :C
make sure your pc can detect ur device.. as omap ( if not try plugged off your battery)
1. run the omap4460_tuna.bat
2. plug in ur phone without battery..
3. when, the mapflash detect a device, plug-in the battery.
4. your gnex will go to bootloader page..
5. then can restore anything thru odin or nexus toolkit
try this step first..
sorry for my bad english

How did u get into 1.9Ghz+ clock, the Ezekeel's Glados for 4.2.2 only had that much of clock speed step (though Np could'nt handle that), and Trinity had only till 1.8Ghz max !
did u try the original fastboot google stock JWR66Y image flashing by erasing all partitions and then re-flashing ??
Though this one looks like a very serious issue....

The omap only use is to get the bootloader back in case you mess it up somehow (which was stupid in my case since mine was working to begin with but I did it anyway).
Follow exactly what is in that link and after that you should have your bootloader back..
After you do it you should be able to get into fastboot and download mode and then, odin flash your phone and get it back operational.

it was a long time ago, about 6 months, maybe more, with one of Experimental Ak kernels... it was called ak pirate or something I believe.
It couldn't handle that speed for too long though. I never tested it to the limit because whenver I thought the phone was getting way too hot I put it back on normal values inb4 it became a toaster powered by android lol.
Anyway, imo gnex clock speed won't afftect too much your performance... what I needed on it was more ram, not really speed.
I installed Hyperdrive 16 ROM for my phone about 6 months ago. I did it through the installer that comes with the rom. This is probably the only reason I didn't brick. Anyway I have messed with it so much and dl'd so many different root programs and so on and TRIED to install different roms that even when I do go back to my Tit backup and restart in Recovery... The only .zip file I can start up is my RLS16 ROM. I cannot revert back to stock cuz I installed it without backing up properly. It seems like people that do have Hd rom actually enjoy it. I don't really know how to use it but learning. I get error messages from Google... like when I open Google search from home screen it will force close and freeze... Every time. I get a Sec. And a couple other errors msgs after reboot. My play store crashes and so does my contacts and my sms app wouldn't work to the point I've had to reinstall Hyperdrive from recovery mode 3x in 4 days. I am so annoyed. I know I messed up and I like to twerk options and the way things look lol I just wanted a new rom. Any suggestions or...? Oh and I have a mac book that is why I don't do anything from the computer cuz idk of any actual working android to mac programs without paying $40. Idk what I'm saying lol I messed up. What can I do? Thanks guys...

Check out "jodin"... It is Odin for Mac.
