I am planning to give my phone to my nephew and i want to return it to stock rom , without any root. because right now i'am on stock rom but still rooted, i want to know also if there will be a difference between stock rom with rooted and stock rom without any root

You'll loose root and recovery, but your phone will still be S-Off

You need to downgrade first, then root and after that you can s off and flash roms.
Use the search function there are lots of guides.

wow this is so confusing, do i have to downgrade, then root, ....then what? all i want to do is put clockworkmod on it so i can intall miui :S but thanks
im as confused as u, ill just try the ultimate multi tools, but mine is android 2.2
Well im guessing your phone isnt rooted which is the first issue you need to solve. The next would be turning s-off to allow you to flash custom roms.
Everything you need to know is in the guides.

I used UMT for that, then i flashed the radio and irl (hope i did it right), then in clockworkmod i flashed the full wipe thingy and then the rom, hope everything goes ok with flashing the rom now...seems its stuck in the log up logo ...
Edit- WORKED!! So happy!! I dont understand s*** of what ive done but it went ok so im really happy . Now time for some downloads xD
On the Desire HD page via my sig there is an XDA Guides section. See the XDA downgrade tutorial link. Then for Android 2.2 or lower, there is a video 'How to root the Desire HD in 5 minutes'. (I already had 2.2 on my new DHD and following the video was very quick.)

[Q] Which ROM have an option to HTC update..?

Hi everyone, can any one answer my question ...!
Which ROM it have an option to HTC update..?
and
what I will get & what I will loose after update ..?
Thanks..
Question 1: the only Rom I can think of is the stock Rom.
Question 2: well you loose root and the ability to root until a new exploit is found. But I think you can still root if you are S-OFF.

I would suggest not to go for those ROMs
Hi,
I don't know where there are any ROMs that let you do that. I would advise that even if you get such a ROM, not to go for the OTA updates, as there are a lot of problems associated with it, including losing root on your device.
No custom rom will be able to update from HTC. While it will check and attempt to download and install it ends up soft bricking your device. If you want HTC updates then stay stock.

use the search functions in the developers section for a thread on returning to stock. also depending on what guide you followed to root your phone there may be a link to unroot and return to orginal state. remember going back to stock does not mean you have to have s-on so just flashing the orginal ota should bring you back to a similar state.
I'm not going to persudae you but I feel you haven't tried the right roms, 90% of them are far batter than stock

[Q] Desire Z no more root

Hey XDA,
I have had quite the experience with my Desire Z but I won't tell stories.
Recently, it was stuck in a boot loop running CM7. So I went into HBOOT and returned it to the stock rom that I had on my sdcard.
My problem is I want CM again and I have no idea how to go about it. Should I follow the same procedure as rooting my device or is there something else to do?
Thanks
That all depends on how you tot root and how you lost it, in order to answer please write down EVERYTHING on your bootloader screen and also confirm if you still have a custom recovery

Ran into more problems. It's going back to the store. But thank you.

What ROM am I running?

Hello first post here and i'm still a bit of an Android noob so here is a dumb question, I have just rooted my HTC One M8 using TheUnlockr All in One Kit method and my question is what ROM am I running? (I would link but new here) When you Root a phone does there have to be a custom ROM installed to have SuperSu on the phone, or is that all rooting is, just installing a custom recovery and installing SuperSu. For me the phone seems like it is just running the stock Sense ROM but I have been looking into flashing Cyanogen mod, and I want to know what I am currently using in case I want to get rid of Cyanogen. Sorry if this is confusing and stupid but yea. Thanks!
You should still be running stock ROM

Oh okay, so if this is the case shouldn't I be able to unroot, install the OTA update and then reroot or is this a no no?

You would probably have to relock your bootloader to update. Just wait for fenny to update his Stock+ rom in the development section. It'll have the OTA update baked in. Then you don't have to worry about unrooting and re-rooting.
