Battery drain

I am losing about 2-3% battery an hour even when tablet is just sitting there. I've put it in airplane mode to see if it was the wireless but it has not helped. I've even done a factory reset and let it sit there in airplane mode without any of my apps installed and it was still losing about 2%/hr. I monitor the usage and it seems that three different kworker/u:0 process is constantly taking up CPU even during sleep. All I can find on Google is that it is a swapping process. Why it is swapping when system is sitting there is beyond me.
Anyone having similar issue?

Are you on the gen2 build? My tablet ate battery life like crazy when I first picked it up. I tried removing bloat, airplane mode, even factory reset. It didn't go away until I downgraded to gen1 and removed all the un-needed apps, now it will sleep all day in my car in airplane mode and be at 99 to 97% when I get home.
I was on gen2 but I downgraded to Gen1 with all the updates. I only froze all the bloat with titanium backup. Guess I'll uninstall to see if that makes a difference.

Try installing auto airplane mode by don and CPU spy so you can see if your tablet is going into deep sleep
By the way I have gen1 on my tablet
Have you tried the tweaked build.prop by crossix? It did quite a difference for me. He did some tweaks in there to lower the battery drain.
I am using the new buld.prop. I just need to track down whatever process is using kworker/u:1. Seems to be the main battery killer.

I used betterbatterystats on my GB phone to find the source of a battery drain at one point, it shows what apps are holding the CPU in a wakelock and what percentage of time they are held. Don't know if it works with HC though. Haven't had a reason to try it. :-\

Gonna check that app out. I did find one source of battery drain though. It was the Google docs app. Look like it was waking up every once in a while to sync. Uninstalled it and only losing about 1-2% /hr now. Getting better.

Disabling auto-sync and the Background data under settings>accounts & sync can help save some battery as well. You could only enable background data if you really need it (with Market, etc).

Autosync is disabled. Not sure why but Google docs just seems to wake the tablet up every once in a while from deep sleep.

batery life

Hi, how its your average batery life?
I have never really run any tests for it, but i've left the tablet alone for a few days, just sometimes checking for Firmware updates, and it barely lost 30% (maybe less, can't recall).
with no live wallpapers on mine lasts a few days with moderate use (checking email, rss, news, maybe playing a couple games)
Well i got the Archos 80 G9 250 gb version and mine lasted for 4.5 hours of continuous video playing , screen brightness on 50 % . The problem is that even in deep sleep it looses battery . How can it last for a couple of days i can't understand , any hint ?
I have the flash version, maybe that would make a difference. Check the wifi sleep policy, and make sure it turns off during sleep. Also, I keep bluetooth and gps off. perhaps try that?
I have the basic 80 g9 and for just using it the evenings it will be happy to last for 4/5 days with email, twitter simple games etc. When I've travelled with it in 3 hours of video playback I lose about 50% with no connections such as WiFi or 3g.

In the meantime you close the tablet or put it on deep sleep ?
I just hit the power button and leave it. Like I say don't think I've messed with the deep slept setting but can look for ya later if you want.

Well actually i didn't checked that but i have the impression that mine looses a lot of battery in suspend mode .... I always shut it down and even like this when i start it again its not the same as it was .... maybe the actual starting process uses a lot of power don't know
Could be a rogue app. My phone was like that for ages and it was getjar nit letting the phone sleep properly. Try better battery stats or something similar to see if a service is causing partial or kernel weaklocks too frequently

The 80G9 1.5 GHz turbo I just started using is to new for me to get an idea of run time, so far about 8 hours of mixed use, on my 8gb classic would go between 5.5 to 9 hours depending on use, in deep sleep non use, it would go for days at least
What works for me, on best battery management, I like to put into deep sleep every time I put tablet down and plan not to use for a few minutes or more (this turns of Wi-Fi, screen, and stops mosts things from running) it always wakes up with a quick power press and Wi-Fi connects within a few seconds
I use normal sleep (same as when it times out I think) for quick pauses in use.
normal sleep for when not using but charging if I want to hear notifications for email, Color Note, Evernote etc. (Wi-Fi on)
If I want the quickest charge, (not using, overnight etc.) and I don't care about notifications (Wi-Fi off) I use deep sleep. edit, to be clear on notifications, my Color Note notifications work while in deep sleep
Turn off for longer periods not being charged/ used
You can set when Wi-Fi disconnects by going to:
settings, Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi disconnect policy (I have mine on never for now)
*and of course, use the correct cable and charger!

Is this battery drain normal/reasonable?

I unplugged my phone before I went to bed to see how much it would drain overnight. I only slept for 5.5 hours. My phone had lost 16%. Is this normal?
I was connected to wifi, only thing I had syncing was Facebook for every 4 hours.
I forgot to screenshot the cpu times, but it spent a majority of the time in deep sleep and 384.
Also, what do the red bars mean in BBS?

Try disabling WiFi as well? Im guessing you dont need Facebook to sync while you sleep, just refresh it when you wake up. Noticed you clock down to 384mhz while screen off. odd how still took away a lot for only 5 hours.

I dont think clocking down helps that much. it doesnt stop the same processes from running, and it takes longer to run them with the lower processing power, especially when the phone has all night to do it /
According to your screenshots you have posted, that kakao talk app is in wakelock, keeping the phone from actually sleeping. Although the other stats seem to contradict this i would be willing to bet this is your problem. I would either disable it from syncing in the app, freezing the process, or somehow prevent it from running. I would put money on it improving battery life drastically. I cant be sure of this as i dont use betterbatterystats but i would suspect the red bar is the time spent in wakelock, while the cpu is supposedly in deep sleep.
That doesn't look normal. I get less than 1%/hour overnight. Though I don't use Facebook or Facebook app. I do have 2 Gmail accounts on auto sync. Weather widget sync/hour. Field trip and Google+ sync enabled and wifi is always on when I'm at home.

Definitely not normal... I get about the same 1% an hour overnight.
I'll give it a shot tonight. Thanks.

I had battery drain issues, download juice defender, it basically turns off 4g when the screen is off and allows email retrievable based on a set schedule...my phone lasts twice as long now

Device Sleep Battery life

First night device sleep not so good on AT&T version .
7 Hour of sleep lost 1% an hour , with Sprint version 2%-3% is used in that time frame.
I'm going install app to monitor tonight sleep session see whats eating energy.

Exactly the case with mine. However I have every sensor and sync option checked (if that matters). But it did drop 6% in 6 hours.

Same here...but yesterdays battery life was remarkable...over 7 hours on with over 4 hours of screen on time at full brightness.
I'm thinking Quick Glace setting enabled is the drainer.
Feature is much more sensitive on ATTs.
hmm maybe higher sleep CPU level on ATTs
Sprint GN2 has whats called wakeup lag. When you wake device display has good 2-3 sec delay before turning on.

During 7 hours of sleep I got 7 emails
The one gps hit is no big deal but 3 of 7 marked in shot are much to active.
Same thing for me. Went to bed at midnight with 92%. woke up at 8am with 84%. 1% per hour. Hopefully someone can figure out how to slow this down. Otherwise, battery life seems fantastic
Wifi remains strong no cut outs during gmail sync so we can rule 0ut connection issue.
It appears Google sync is to busy on 3 marks shown in shot so I'm going to disable everything except Gmail & contacts in sync setting.
Hopefully that will be fix
Drained 2% in 9 hours last night with 2 push email accounts (on exchange and one gmail) and gtalk connected. LTE signal at about -90 and WiFi connected.
Seems reasonable to me.

yeah that's how it should be.
As my screen shot shows there is 7 deep sleep wakeup points.
7 emails received , 7 wakeups shown with 3 of them being way to active.
Now the question is why.
Maybe a 3rd party app kicks in gear when email received.
Only thing I have on board is Fancy Widget with auto update disabled during that time frame

I'm getting similiar to this. Tested 2 nights now and in 10 hours I'm dropping 2%. Multiple emails syncing, weather, Google Talk connected. Great usage battery life too.
In the "screen on" screenshot, live wallpaper active, 4 hours of Bluetooth music, brightness 80%, Web browsing and gaming heavy with 40ish minutes of phone calls and 30 minutes of GPS navigation. I hit 6h screen on time and 24h 32min unplugged when the battery finally died. That is stellar.
Also I'm in a LTE area, usually 4 bars signal strength but throughout my day I do leave LTE coverage multiple times. (I travel a lot)

Not sure if this applies to anyone else but last night I removed several Bloat apps before going to bed. I did NOT restart the phone. From doing this caused my phone to not sleep the whole night. Woke up this morning and restarted the phone. Phone went right to sleep after doing this.

Ok second day of sleep testing.
This time my toy is running Modded N7105ZHALJ4 MultiWindow rom with no 3rd party app installed.
Google sync active with 1 email received during sleep period.
Accuweather widget at 3 hour update interval .
Wifi enabled.
I'm still getting the 1% drain but this time only 1 email was received during 7hr sleep period so I can rule that out as being cause.
What the heck is waking up device lol
The AWAKE activity shown in screen shot should not be happening.
Edit
That small period showing Screen On I checked email device was awake maybe 90 seconds.
But from that point as you can see lots of activity happening that shouldnt
Maybe the small awake times are to check email, check weather, update Google now, Facebook, basically anything that is a widget or has check intervals for updates.

nah only thing running in background is Gmail & accuweather.
Gmail remains silent lights up sleep on push , seeing only one email was received that can be ruled out as problem.
Accuweather at 3 hour update interval so we can rule that out as well.
On Sprint version I had all kinds of background apps running during sleep , 15 emails receved and would lose 3-4% in 9 hour sleep session so somethings not playing well on ATT version.
I stopped by ATT store today ran across GN2 owner thats having same sleep issue like many in this thread
Turn on airplane mode and test it. 3g/H+ will cause it.

Tonight I'm going to test with network.
What's keeping my device awake? What wakes it up to begin with?
BetterBatteryStats.
Search for it on XDA and you'll find that XDA members get a free version. While it won't give you better battery usage, it will tell you WHY your battery is being used by something else.

Better battery stats is a great program, highly recommended from me too.
Not sure what the sleep problem is. I've maintained the 2ish% drop in 10ish hours of sleep. Great battery life still. Do you have NFC or Sbeam turned on? They have been known to sometimes cause battery drain and not show up as "awake" when looking at battery stats. Try toggling them in settings even if they are off and see if that makes any impact.

Delayed notifications overnight?

This morning when I woke up I picked up a my phone and saw that I had no notifications on either the Always On screen or the home screen when I turned it on. Then 2 or 3 seconds later I have 2 email notifications at the same time. I looked at the times they were sent and they were sent a few hours earlier. I am not positive, but I think that the same thing happened the day before, but I wasn't really paying attention to the times of the emails.
What's causing this?

Check if you have put your email app on power saving mode.
Hmm.. I don't see Gmail in the list of apps in the power saving mode area. It's also not available to be added to the list of Unmonitored Apps either.
