[Q] having problems with adb connection to my Note II (GT-N7100) - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am unable to use adb from either Windows7 or Ubuntu to my Samsung galaxy note II phone. Any ideas why? Also on Ubuntu when I connect my phone via the USB cable to the PC, my Ubuntu has problem openning the disks on the phone or openning the camera.
I can now connect via Windows 7 after having installed "Samsung Galaxy Note II Toolkit2" and the device drivers.
But my issues under Ubuntu remain...
Even though I managed finally to get my Samsung Note II to communicate with adb on Windows but I am still having problem with it working with Ubuntu.
I have also installed heimdall on my ubuntu but have not decided to flash my phone to make it ROOT. All I need is to communicate with it through adb via ubuntu.
I also attempted through WINE to install "Samsung Galaxy Note II Toolkit2 but still no joy.
the error I get when connecting my phone via usb to my ubuntu machine is:
Unable to mount SAMSUNG_Android
Error initialising camera: -60 :Could not lock the device
Any ideas?

[Q] GNex ADB device not detected by my PC [fixed]

Hi all,
I just bought a Galaxy Nexus and I'm having problems with the ADB port: my Lenovo w520 laptop running win7x64 simply does not detect the ADB device in device manager. I tried connecting the phone to my wife's laptop (HP running win7x64) and the ADB device is detected so it is not a problem of the phone or the cable. On my pc I only get the Galaxy Nexus MTP device and that is all.
It is not a matter of driver, there is simply no device detected hence it is not possible to send ADB command.
I do not know if it is related, but samsung USB mobile driver fails during installation without giving a valid reason.
anyone having similar problem ?
thanks
cheerts
So... how do you know its not a driver issue? Sounds like one to me. Have you tried manually installing other drivers?
Well, what is actually strange is that:
1) if I connect the phone to my wife laptop with USB debugging ON and no driver installed (it's HER pc, I cannot install my stuff), a composite device with two devices (MTP and ADB) is detected.
2) in fastboot mode, my laptop detects the ADB port and install proper drivers; using Galaxy Nexus toolkit, I can successfully list my device.
When the phone is fully booted, my laptop simply see only the MTP device. If it were just a matter of driver i would simply get an Unknown device in win7 device manager...
thanks
cheers

Eh. Fastboot is all you need.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA
After several attempts (including installing win7 x64 in a virtual machine ...) I finally solved my problem: it was indeed a driver issue, my win7 did not automatically searched for proper driver (and the Samsung driver is available on-line in windows update). I forced a driver update for the MTP device so that windows downloaded Samsung driver and now both the phone and ADB port are detected and working. It is still a mystery why the driver provided by various tool-kit failed to install, but nonetheless the GNex is now fully set-up.
Actually the solution is so dumb that I feel a bit ashamed of myself...
thank
bye

Connection Issues with Note 2

I get the following error
"Unable to find software on your PC that can recognize your device. Service pack 3, Windows Media Player, version 11 or higher, or Samsung USB Driver for Windows XP, or Android file transfer for Mac OS must be installed (see www.microsoft.com or www.android.com/filetransfer)
when I connect my note 2 to my pc via usb. I also have a white note 2 that was connecting without a problem earlier today.
I've tried installing Samsung Kies, installing the Samsung USB Driver for Mobile Phones v1.5.14.0 with no luck. Let me know if you guys have any suggestions.
Stupid Samsung Drivers not working. Tried everything!
i just started having this issue out of nowhere as well. WTF? I've tried over and over to install the drivers and nothing is working. This is driving me crazy and I can't seem to fix it. My wife's S3 will no longer connect as well.
HELP!

[Q] Samsung USB Drivers and Windows 8.1 Pro x64

Hi,
I have a new PC with Win 8.1 Pro x64. I also have a Samsung Galaxy S4 mini and have installed the latest (I would suppose) Samsung drivers for Mobile Phones ver 1.5.45.0
Using it on my other PC with Win 7 Pro x64 anytime I plug the USB cable into the PC I see in Explorer the device and both partitions/memory of the phone being Card and Phone.
Using it on my new PC with Win 8.1 in Explorer I do not see anything anymore. How do I access phone data like on Win 7 PC?
I do not know if this can help but this is what I have in devices resources panel:
Under "Samsung Android Phone" I have Samsung Android ADB Interface
Under "Portable Devices" I have Samsung Mobile MTP Decice with a Alert yellow mark; but I have it for all other Card Reader devices.
I also find it strange, if I am correctly recall, that before installing Samsung USB Drivers I did not have any Yellow Alert mark on other USB card reader devices. Is there any correlation between installed Samsung Drivers or not?
Lastly, is there a direct and official URB for obtaining the most updated Samsung USB Drivers for Mobile phone or not? If so, which one is it so I can bookmark it?
Please advise.....
NOTE: I know this has no influence on device behavior on Windows but I have CyanogenMod 11 running on this phone. Just wanted to let you know.

[Q] USB issue with Win7 -device unknown

I apologize if this isn't the proper forum.
I had a Samsung Galaxy S3 (The non LTE version) with T-Mobile. I have used the KIES 3 software to backup my phone.
I got a Samsung Galaxy S4 (the M919 model) with T-Mobile.
First, I connected the phone to my Win7 64-bit Home Edition pc with the same Galaxy S3 USB cable. It charges, and I hear the "boo-beep" and Windows 7 says it's installing device software and then comes back and says "unknown device" installation failed. In Device Mangler, it shows up under USB controllers, for some reason as "unknown device".
Okay, so I reinstalled the Samsung USB drivers.
No go
I used the actual S4 cable that came with the phone.
No go.
I have done the debug USB mode. No go.
I have verified that the MTP protocol is used (vs. Camera) and that it's set to MTP+ADB
I've switched back and forth to camera vs. MTP
Windows seems to detect the USB signal in that it knows when it's plugged in and when it's not, but it seems to IMMEDIATELY (and I mean very very fast, like under 1 second) "find" it always as a USB controller -> Unknown Device
So, I've tried my laptop. windows 7 64-bit. Same thing.
I had a spare pc around, so I even reformatted the drive and put a fresh copy of windows 7 on it. Same thing.
I've manually installed the Samsung drivers (without KIES). Still no go.
So I guess my questions:
1) Is there some other method to verify USB port is working properly? (like can you connect it to something else and have it work)? I'm assuming it's good since not only does it charge, but it at least is attempted to connect with Windows 7
2) I've got 2 more cables ordered --official Samsung ones--just in case
3) Can you root and unroot a phone without USB? It seems they all require USB drivers, and ODIN to work. I ended up having to manually backup the S3 via GCloud or whatever to get my stuff transferred over.
Oh, I also have an SD card in the phone.
Yes, I tried unmount it, and even removing it, rebooting, etc. Still no go.
I am trying to find an XP machine to see if that works any better.
thank you.

Computer stopped recognizing Note 3

I have a Samsung Note 3 through Sprint.. Computer has stopped recognizing it, even tried on another computer. Only reason I need it to recognize it, is so i can pull off the pics and reset to stock completely. ..
Tried on Windows 7 pro and Windows 8.
Tried installing Samsung USB drivers,
-computer can see Note 2 and all new phones, just not Note 3.
Android 4.4.4
Where should I start to read/search.. All the google searches kept telling me to just install USB drivers, which I have done..
Thanks in advance!
