Had a Kraken for a whopping two days but not impressed at all compared to Griffin Survivor. The outer hard shell is far too slippery and to top it off broke easily when I removed it (wasn't being ham-fisted).
I've got an Otterbox Defender on the way (have always had Otterbox on my previous phones) to see if the silicon shell distorts over a short period of time.

that sucks. you shoudl email trident and see waht they could do. i've had mine since aug, dropped it MANY times. include surviving perhaps a 4meter drop when i was in ibiza lol
i also take it off on a regular basis when i switch out the batt and so far so good.
Glad i didnt buy the kraken yesterday then
I've had my kraken for months with no issues, handled 100's of drops from various heights on various surfaces. I'm getting the Griffin survivor just because I like the design better.

I am with you i love the otterboxs.... There customer service is great and will replace your case with no questions asked... As for Trident i had one for my e4gt and had same problem also on replacing your trident case its like trying to get into fort knocks lol... Meaning they need this and that to replace it...

I loved the Kraken for the i9100, too many angles on the i9300 plus the buttons are way to sensitive. Driving with my otterbox for now.

Love the kraken on my S3. Not a problem with it. Now, the windshield mount is a different story - broke within a month. Very cheaply made.
As you have the griffin survivor, can i ask you to post a mini review of it please? I am looking to buy it and some pictures and your opinion would be a big help
I had the Otterbox Defender and I was disappointed. I switched to the Case Mate Phantom and couldn't be happy. The OB Defender's quality went way down since I had one on my Atrix 4G.

Aside from it breaking somewhat prematurely, I also found the Kraken far too slippery to handle and its buttons too sensitive. Otterbox has arrived as well as a couple of 4300maH batteries so will be doing the Otterbox chop job!

Just for the record tho, those who have experienced silicon stretch on the Otterbox, what colour case was it? My missus had a pink Defender on her iPhone4 that stretched so I wonder if the non-black rubbers are more prone??

Hey guys quick help i have been looking around and still haven't had any luck. Im looking for a leather holster for the trident kraken case for the gs3.
im not really a big fan of the phone clips or belt clips, I want the krakken but i need a big enough holster thanks guys :fingers-crossed:
I havent had any issues with them

I know it is for a different phone. But I am on my third kraken case for the thunderbolt. First time they asked me to ship it back.
second time they just sent me a new case.
The way the cases attach the tabs were very weak and broke after the first removal.
I do say it protects my phone from drops.
if it just wasn't so fragile.
Day 3 with Otterbox Defender... couldn't stand the cr4p screen protector so ripped it off. Also, done the extended battery case chop. It's a bit of an ugly mod and fit isn't perfect but it's gone 40hrs since last charge!

This looks similar to the Ballistic SG style cases for half the price. I was wondering if anyone might have gotten this one yet?
Samsung Galaxy Nexus I515 I9250 Blk/White Hybrid 3 in 1 case
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0070AO2HA/ref=cm_sw_r_an_am_ap_am_us?ie=UTF8
Wow that does look like the ballistic one, well the nexus s anyway. Theirs isn't out yet though. I think the preview picture of the ballistic one shows more rounded bumpers at the corner with a more contouring look. I know it will add a lot of bulk but I put the ballistic on my nexus s I gave my wife (she's hard on phones) and it looks and feels great. Build quality on it is amazing, great protection and it actually makes it easier to hold and type on!
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
I'm probably gonna get one this week and I'll post a review on it sometime next month in this thread.
Yea there pretty much imitations of the Ballistic SG case. But they do a pretty good job in protection but they aren't as high quality as the Ballistic. If you want more colors
Triple Layer with Colors
Dual Layer with Colors
Liking my cruzer lite but I have the genuine ballistic on my wife's hand me down nexus s. That thing is amazing and coverage is full with a good ghost armor screen protector. It adds a ton of bulk though. Just wish it was a little thinner. Great quality. I'll probably get one when they come out for the galaxy nexus for trips... but this is already a huge phone. A case between the sgp and the ballistic would probably be the perfect balance. Hard to find one that fits the GSM extended battery though. That's the clincher as I'm not giving up my 6 hours of screen time. This phone is just amazing. Takes 2 hours to charge too.

Check the links posted above. I for the black silicon/white hard shell case and I love it. Definitely more protection than my commuter series. Only one hitch though, no room for extended battery but trust me the protection is worth it

As promised here is my review of this case. As stated it is a similar to the ballistic sg series cases, but with a much smaller price tag. The case itself is a 2 piece case containing and soft inner silicone and a outer hard shell. The edge of the silicone comes just over the edge of the housing on the device and meets the edge of most wet install screen protectors. My phone has already survived 2 drops which I'm sure that without the case it would've definitely been broken and I even question if it would have made it in my otterbox commuter. Once was out of my lap on the concrete from inside my car, the other was down a flight of stairs in the hospital. It took the abuse fine with no physical damage to the phone. Extended battery is definitely a no go. The case fits extremely snug on the LTE version. It actually looks more gsm design due to the fact 3 prong connectors do not line up with the cut out (off by about 1mm). I definitely recommend this text to someone wanting more protection than just a TPU case but not wanting to shell out the cash for some of the more expensive cases.

sweet... I may have to sidegrade from the Seidio Active Combo in a few months
EDIT: oops, it says: " Inner polycarbonate layer includes a built-in screen protector and inner foam liner "
Would this built-in screen protector affect functionality? Is it removable at all?
Wow!!! Rather expensive, isn't it?
Defender is not bad, but cost too much. My Reiko case is much better and cheaper.
have now a capdase ,early phone is the dell streak and otterbox.... maybe next month order one. for the Note.!
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
Was I the only one who read its availability as "This item is not currently available"? I think I'm going to go with Seidio.
It shouldn't mess with sensitivity. I can't promise that since the case isn't out yet, but I've had otterboxes on every phone I've had and I always put a regular screen protector on underneath the otterbox anyway and I've never had a problem. I took the plastic off of one of my old otterboxes and laid it down on top of the screen of my Note and tried using the pen and it was super smooth just as if there were no screen protector on at all. I have a zagg shield on it now and I can barely use the pen for anything so I can't wait to get my otterbox.

Yeah. It does. I had it for my iPhone, and it was very well protected. But boy, was the outer layer a dust magnet!
Got my Otterbox Commuter today. I like it a lot, so far. Not as bulky as the Kraken appears to be. S-pen is easily accessible and uncovered. Flaps over headphone and usb ports have winged tabs that secure them under the polycarb outer case so they don't flap freely. Raised power and volume buttons are easily accessible, but require some pressure to activate. For me, this is good as I was always pocket increasing/decreasing the volume. I got it for $29.99 with free overnight shipping and the price went up $10 a few hours later.

What case do you currently use on your phone?
It is very curious to understand why users prefer some types of cases to others.
What is the difference?
What brands would you suggest, and why do you prefer it?
I used otter box on my moto photon 4g, but I stopped using it recently as the weather is getting much hotter, it seems to retain a lot of heat and my phone constantly shuts off at random in my pocket as I'm out in the sun most of the day... I still left the screen protector on it and it works pretty good... just no case

You could add one more option to the pool, TPU+PC , one example is Momax iCase Pro i have been using one for several months now and it is very good, still looks like brand new, and offers great protection my phone fell off several times and only a little scratch on the case.
I'm not using any case, i haven't found any enough comfortable
I use a silicon Otter Box
this one. only 14€

I have a silicon case for my Samsung Galaxy Player 5, i prefer silicon over other materials because it's most flexible, easy to put on or take off, water resistant unlike leather and doesn't break if twisted like plastic.
I just got my phone in the mail yesterday and I'm really excited...except that it's at my home address while I'm stuck on a college campus! Anyways, I was wondering if someone has gotten or will get an Otterbox case. I'm debating on whether or not to get one since it might be too bulky. I just want your thoughts, thanks!
I will be getting the defender series case. But I'm still about a month or so from getting the phone. For the work i do a durable tough case is a must.

Yeah it will be thick because they are rated for protection. The commuter series is not as thick but thicker or the same size as tpu cases.

Ordered a white/grey defender from Amazon. Dont know when it will ship. I might get a commuter as well. Im used to the thickness of the Epic 4g so i dont think ill mind the bulk on the defender too much.
Only issue is using any kind of cradle... a TPU case might fit but certainly not the defender.

Cradle for car mounting?
http://www.slipgripcarmounts.com/Galaxy-S-III-I9300_c_27331.html
I use these with a Ram Mount for my Evo OG and it is fantastic. I ride my motorcycle with it mounted to the handle bars.
It's a must for me. The defenders saved my Evo last year on Minnetonka, 50mph wind gust in a bass boat. I always put my phone under the driver window, the window actually cracked. We also had three waves completely swamp us, my phone was wet but after an overnite drying it worked perfect no damage. Amazing cases. Almost kid proof too. Thanks for the Amazon information, I've been looking on Otterbox. Finally some colored defenders, about time. Kind of glad I ordered a 32gb Galaxy I'd rather wait then have it without the Otterbox.
Torn between the Otterbox Defender & the Ballistic SG Maxx http://www.goballisticcase.com/coll...sung-galaxy-s-3-ballistic-sg-maxx-series-case I've been running a Ballistic SG case on my SGS II Epic 4G Touch, so the added bulk isn't a problem for me. I used an Otterbox Commuter series on my Sprint Hero & my EVO 4G, nice case, but doesn't have the same level of protection the Defender or Ballistic SG. I guess for now it'll come down to the case that is released first. I may pick up a commuter series for the interim since it's already available.

I love this case. My phone has been driven over by a car with this case on. The only thing that got messed up was my screen protector!!
i forgot my s3 on top of my car (I'm stupid yes I know) and I pulled out of a parking lot and heard it fall off as it hit my trunk. I went back around the street, which happens to be a busy road, and found it face down with tire marks on it. I was so amazed the phone was not damaged at all. Its a great case and offers great protection.
The only thing I can say I dislike about the case is that the rubber edges pick up lint as I put in my pocket sometimes. That's the only thing I can really find wrong with this case.

I just got my dualtek case today. I will share my initial thoughts for those who might be interested. I ordered the black version which has a matte finish, I ordered this one because it seemed to have good grip. It's actually kind of slippery. The power button is very hard to press, I hope that gets better with time. The charging port and the headset jack are not covered like in other rugged cases. The case includes a screen protector, I haven't used it but it looks like a cheap one, it doesn't cover the entire screen and it doesn't have circular cutouts for the front facing camera and the sensors. It is a VERY nice looking case IMHO, and it looks like it will hold up just fine under heavy abuse. It doesn't look extremely rugged like the otterbox defender, but it should protect just as good on drops and that sorta thing. Overall it seems like a great case and would recommend it to those looking for great protection at a great price point.

I have had my Otterbox since day one of my Razr Maxx so it's hard to believe a case exist better than it. Then only issue I can say is that sometimes I can make your phone heat up more than normal.
