Samsung Galaxy Note Otterbox cases are out - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Accessories

hey guys finally otterbox released it
http://www.otterbox.com/on/demandware.store/Sites-otterbox_us-Site/default/Search-Show?q=note

sweet... I may have to sidegrade from the Seidio Active Combo in a few months
EDIT: oops, it says: " Inner polycarbonate layer includes a built-in screen protector and inner foam liner "
Would this built-in screen protector affect functionality? Is it removable at all?

Wow!!! Rather expensive, isn't it?

Defender is not bad, but cost too much. My Reiko case is much better and cheaper.

have now a capdase ,early phone is the dell streak and otterbox.... maybe next month order one. for the Note.!
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium

Was I the only one who read its availability as "This item is not currently available"? I think I'm going to go with Seidio.

It shouldn't mess with sensitivity. I can't promise that since the case isn't out yet, but I've had otterboxes on every phone I've had and I always put a regular screen protector on underneath the otterbox anyway and I've never had a problem. I took the plastic off of one of my old otterboxes and laid it down on top of the screen of my Note and tried using the pen and it was super smooth just as if there were no screen protector on at all. I have a zagg shield on it now and I can barely use the pen for anything so I can't wait to get my otterbox.

I pre-ordered it from here. It was a good price, and says 4/20/12 on the release date, although it is now the 22nd and I have yet to receive any tracking information, and it still says pre-order. I smell fish.

they finally release it...quite late isn't??

Not in stock on otterbox.com and Amazon. I did find the Commuter in stock on eBay.

i can't wait to release this case. it looks just awesome especially the ridging on the sides for extra grip.

Yeah. It does. I had it for my iPhone, and it was very well protected. But boy, was the outer layer a dust magnet!

Got my Otterbox Commuter today. I like it a lot, so far. Not as bulky as the Kraken appears to be. S-pen is easily accessible and uncovered. Flaps over headphone and usb ports have winged tabs that secure them under the polycarb outer case so they don't flap freely. Raised power and volume buttons are easily accessible, but require some pressure to activate. For me, this is good as I was always pocket increasing/decreasing the volume. I got it for $29.99 with free overnight shipping and the price went up $10 a few hours later.

Yes,

Production will apparently start 12/10/2010. Just remember production and release are two totally different things.
I can go start "producing" a deuce right now..It will be released soon after, though.

I'm happy for all of you Ballistic HC fans, but has anyone heard from Ballistic if they plan on creating an SG case for the EVO? I really like their SG line for the iPhone. I like the HC case but am concerned it will look like I've got a phonebook in my pocket.

more to come after i smoke it over...
the case came in a plane jane white box. inside is the invoice and then the case was wrapped in bubble wrap. nothing fancy but no one needs fancy packaging anyway.
the case was bigger than i thought however the phone fits in the case just nicely.
included is an instruction card, the "squeegee card", screen protector, and cleaning cloth.
i am NOT a fan of the kickstand. its plastic and it can break off if you hyper extend it.it "snaps" into place in its "docked" position. when you pull the kickstand out, there is no positive "click" or lock mechanism to let you know its out.
the silicon shell feels like the sprint silicon case. it has a rubber cover over the hdmi and usb ports. as for the camera, leds, speaker in back, there is a plastic piece covering those up. so keep this clean of debris when you want to snap a photo.
overall the case is a winner for me. it is indeed rugged and solid feeling.
Get that beast on your phone. Waiting on pics patiently, for now.

screen protector is separate? Hmmm

its thick! i just dropped it thigh! high (as opposed to waist level--too scared) face first and it still works normally thus far. the holster is nice and its BIG! lol. the case can fit in the holster with or without the silicon jacket. the phone sits in the thing nicely..reminds me of a panasonic toughbook.
if there is a specific photo you want to see, let me know and ill snap one. the video of the case at the website pretty much shows the case in real life.
i can tell you the red accent style case will be dynamite!
there is a separate screen protector you can apply yourself AND the top part of the case that snaps onto the..well.. top has a built in screen protector, which is absolutely nice IMO...

yes you can still operate with one hand....
Can you compare the size to an Otterbox Defender? Without the silicon shell on....

Seidio Innocase Active X - got mine today

I had this case for my incredible and absolutely loved the look, feel and protection. So last week i pre-ordered the thunderbolt active x case from seidioonline. One thing i really like about this case is the feel of the power and volume buttons. Without a case its very hard to tell if you're pressing them. The case is very easy to put on, rubber case first then the plastic shell to hold it together. It also fits (barely) in my verizon droid x leather pouch i use at work which is a big plus. The kickstand is a little harder to open but not to bad. The only bad thing is its a little pricey at $37 shipped but i had to have this case.

I had this on my incredible and loved it, great protection and looks sweet. Looking forward to getting it for my TB. I think they make great products as far as durability and style. If you want indestructible then otterbox is your friend.
I had the active for my Evo as well, with the same breaking tab problem. I'll wait for otterbox, and hopefully it won't take them as long to get out some product as it did with the evo.
i can see the ends breaking if u take the case off the phone a lot. the plastic shell on this one is a bit thinner than the incredible active shell.
I have it on mine right now and its actually really nice. If you push on the sides to raise the tab when taking it on and off you wont break the tabs.
I dropped my TB about 3 feet today onto rugged sidewalk and not a nick on the case. Worth the few bucks!

Thanks for the pics and impressions. I'm still not sure about this case yet though. Might wait it out a little longer. I desperately want rid of this case I got from VZW though.

I'm a big fan of the case-mate tough, it's a similar style to this case with a bit more texture on the back piece for grip, plus I feel like the build quality is a little higher, here's hoping they make one for the TB!

I ordered this case , just waiting to get it. Just curious, did they include a screen protector with it?
Think i may just get the cheapo $5 case on amazon with the hopes that otterbox releases their case soon. I have had much better luck with otterbox than seidio plus they seem to be a bit thinner and mold to the device more snugly.

I actually prefer the Tough Case over my Otterbox Commuter. The Tough Case's texture is perfect. The OB is slippery.
Case Mate isn't too responsive though. Maybe if we create a petition?

I suppose you could buy me one then.
So the battery door can get scratched with this setup? Great protection.
There are NO other cases out there, that will protect the batt door/cover. I've been searching and so far haven't found any! To the OP, did you do measurements or just eyeball where you would cut? I just received a two piece snap together case, and have been trying to figure out how to go about modifying it!
Cool, I have the Commuter on my Cappy as well. I'm still trying to find an extended battery to fit under the stock door, but this is good to know in case I end up getting the 3500mah ebay brick. I think if I try this I will put the case on a work bench, pencil the cut, and use a dremel with a cutting wheel...
omg that poor baby otter
Dosent matter if Extended battery door gets scratched. If I ever sell my phone I would put the stock cover back on.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA Premium App
I guess it wouldn't be too bad if you used a dremel. Cutting my case is the only thing holding me back from getting an extended battery. My phone has taken some gnarly falls in my commuter case. Still in awesome condition though!
hmm is there any way for us to cut the case smoothly? any special procedure? i tried moding my case before and ended up with uneven cuts xD im using the zagg full body protection now but its starting to peel which annoys me and want to mod another case any help to get cut smoothly would be appreciated

Otterbox Commuter. It has 2 layers, a soft rubbery inner layer which is surrounded by a hard plastic outer shell. I personally feel very comfortable with the Commuter, I drop it all the time knowing that phone is well protected.
Thanks.
Hmmm....I wonder how hard it would be to make the same mod to an Otterbox Defender. I want to have on that will mount on a belt clip holster.
Actually, as you were able to do it with the plastic layer for the Commuter, I don't see why I couldn't do it with the Defender. I may give it a try.

any idea how to cut the commuter smoothly? I dont think my box cutter can handle it >,<
I would glue the rubber and the hard plastic backing onto the battery door then caulk around the edges for complete satisfaction!
I would also use black caulk, everyone loves black caulk!

[Mini-Review] Body Glove Dimensions case.

Mini-Review
Body Glove Dimensions Case from AT&T store. Retail is $30 but you can get it for around $20 online or around $20 if they are nice enough to give you a discount at the store..
The feel is a bit slippery but not as slippery as the phone with no case you can grip this with a solid firm grip on the sides and it has a feel like you won't drop it. The softness is not soft but not hard. I would say it's in between soft and hard.
It doesn't attract link/dust so no need to worry about that. The only color I have seen so far is gray. As for the ports - The opening for the usb connection is nice. I can still plug my logitech cable into it and that's a largely sized cable that charges my G700. That's the cable I use for my pc when the mouse isn't charging. The power/volume rocker holes are nice too. I don't like case that cover the actual buttons and this feels similar to the Incipio feather case openings imo.
On to the pics.

Nice tight fit. The edges don't bow at all. It's really a solid all around case.
I too bought this case and like the Body Glove I had for my Captivate it fits pretty good and is really tight on the phone. I tried several cases on at the AT&T store and this one seems to keep the phone the slimist while protecting all the edges of the phone.

I also had a Body Glove on my Captivate and loved it. However, the Body Glove for the GS3 is not the same. It's thinner and a bit harder. Also, it tends to lift the edges of my screen protector.
I have this case and two of the cheaper fosman/cimo s-line type cases and this feels way better and slimmer. This one is just 5 times the price... but worth it.

I did a mini review on the case mate too. I got the brushed aluminum one though. Both are nice cases.
Picked up the body glove dimensions tpu case in grey for $20 from Smartphonepedia. Shipping was quick and no issues with the order. This is my third case. The other two are the Incipio Feather and the Incipio Silicrylic. If you're looking for a TPU case with open cut outs, good fit, excellent grip and a decent raised lip on the face of the phone, this is a good choice.
I don't use a screen protector so can't comment on how it might interfere. The grip on the sides is the best I have seen on a case, it seems they really gave some thought to this design.
The feather is by far the best as far as feel goes but provides not much drop protection for the front, top or bottom.

Otterbox Top Quality
I've owned three Commuter cases (for Samsung Captivate, Infuse, and Note) and you can't beat them for the protection.
The only issues I have had are how the clips are attached to the plate. Twice I've had them break on me, BUT, Otterbox has been very prompt at sending me a FREE replacement. I also have to say that each time I was leaning in such a way that I was putting pressure on the belt clip, so I can't entirely fault the clip. Since they replaced it (promptly), I have no negative feelings.
Although they are a bit pricey, you can definitely see why they do cost more. I would HIGHLY recommend them. They give your phone top-notch protection. :good:
I bought the case today and compared to the case mate tough this provides much more protection however it does the phone slippery due to the hardcover having minimal grip. The biggest gripe I have with this case is the power and volume rockers are really difficult to press and I have contacted otterbox about it and just awaiting reply now.

great review, I have been searching for a gal s3 specific otterbox review and haven't found any... until now.
That is an issue re the lovely sleek lithe lines of the s3 being covered and ruined by protection, but as has been said, thats the trade off i guess.
I am having a really hard time deciding between a few cases. Bought the invisible skin full body protector (it's my goto scratch protection despite niggles with it) and that will sit beneath any case I buy. May have to take the rear skin off to fit but will cross that bridge...
Fancied a defender but the built in screen protector bothers me as I am worried about it fading and misting over time, where as the commuter does allow for the separate screen skin which then can be removed and replaced independently if required.
Would really like the defender but it is increasingly looking like the commuter will be the best solution :/
I just picked the Aegis off eBay for $26 shipped. Good case so far.
