Welcome to the family!

On day 2 and so far with the stock rom the battery life is superior to the nexus.

Try the people's rom. It's awesome. Slight themeing, But overall amazing performance.

Of course it will be superior Lol. I came from the epic touch and on that phone I could get 12 hrs max with 2.5 screen time. On the GS3 I get 17hrs easily with 4.5 hrs screen time

Battery better on 4g or wifi?

So I'm using the jugernaught 5.0 from with the streamline kernal. Basically I'm using streamline because I wanted to save battery but i noticed something weird on 4g I'm only getting about 18 hours max with a galaxy nexus battery with wifi on I get around 30 hours. I thought wifi drained more battery. Also this is with about 3 hours of screen time. I've done several test. So firstly does wifi use less battery secondly what a the best kernal for gb right now?

Wifi always gets better battery. Just don't leave it on if you're not using it. I prefer darkside

4G is only used when it's needed. Wifi auto scans at intervals wasting battery if you leave it on all day. Wifi is better while in use.

I already answered you, pay attention
Wifi definitely improves battery life, if you turn your radio off that is or use wifi calling.

Battery improved after jelly bean!

Ok when I had 4.0.4, my battery life was terrible and that was because of battery leak from android os. Now , android os is taking battery normally anyone else noticed this?

Mine is not too bad. 78% after about 8 hours of usage, standby. I'm at work, so barely used the phone today.
Ah my battery life increased too. Glad to see Google fixing some problems ICS had.

My friend says he's only getting a mac if 4 hours battery
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
you should probably just let your friend do research and find his own custom rom. So much can go wrong when modding a 3rd partys phone when the person flashing doesnt even know what they are looking for. My advice, just leave it stock. To get better battery life you have to make the phone do less.
Ive been there, with that phone call at 2am "how do I fix my phone, its acting weird?"

Is this considered good battery life?

I'm a heavy user and I got this today with Darthstalker + Lean Kernel. Dying now at 4:30. Is this the best I can get with a stock battery? Using half brightness btw, streamed a soccer game, constantly texting, tweeting, Facebook, xda, listening to music, Internet browsing, etc. Thanks for any feedback I can get

About 4 hours is what I get too. I stream video with the screen on all day long. I also have 6 batteries and 2 external battery charger for that phone.
On my Note 2 with the same usage I get about 5+ hours.

Yeah I really want a note 2, no one is willing to trade even with a good amount of cash.

Have you cycled the battery yet. Did 3 fill charges and drain to about 20%? I had the same problem and nlw my drain is good. Different rom and kernel though
Sent from my SGH-T999 using Tapatalk 2
I get the same with lean and version X I think it'd best unless me and you are the unlucky ones with bad batteries lok
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda premium
The battery life is actually pretty good already. I use all my phone pretty much the same way (streaming videos). My previous phones never even made it to the 4 hour mark.
Htc evo 4g = 2.5 hrs
Motorola photon = 3.4 hrs
Galaxy S2 = 3.2 hrs
iPhone 4s = 3.? hrs
Htc evo Lte = 3.5 hrs
Sent from my SGH-T889 using Tapatalk 2
is that all on wifi or 4g? if wifi i think it can be a bit better. i can consistently get 4 hours of screen time, streaming and what not.

I don't even know what good battery life is.. Any thing is better than the hd7 I use to have. You'd lose a Chung for plaiyin angry birds (their only game) for 3 mins.. So your lif looks good to me.

I can pull about 2 and 1/2 hours with 14 hours but that's with non - constant use. If I use the phone constantly it'll end up with what I posted about 6 hours with maybe half of that with the screen being on.

No that's horrible battery life. I easily get five hours screen on time.

Is that from a nexus 4? If so why are you posting on s3 forums lol if not then how the heck are you getting that life?

I know he has a nexus 4 available to him so i think it is considering there is no reason for him to have a Nexus 4 build prop

Yeah I could care less about nexus 4 battery life as I don't have one.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
You can't compare to other people's usage like this because you stream videos. For example I told you earlier I get about 4 hours of runtime on my Galaxy s3 with a lot of video streaming. If I use my Galaxy s3 sporadically I get times like these.
Your runtimes are normal if you stream videos.

What gets better battery life?

Aosp roms or touch wiz roms? Just curious to know because I wanna flash a new Rom today and it seems tw roms has all the goodies lol
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
TW seems to give better battery life overall.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda premium
well ilat one point I was getting better battery life on aosp roms but lately I've been noticing better battery life on touchwiz, or atleast on the touchwiz roms I've been using lately. It might depend on the rom, in which case we can't really debate cause of the forum rules. But I would say the difference wouldnt be more than about 30 min to like 1 hr max on a good day. Also depends on how you use your phone (what you have turned on; brightness level etc.).
Sent from my Galaxy s3 using xda premium
I've only gotten 4+ hours screen time once and it was on an AOSP rom. Its really hard to say though.

For me its aosp.
