Im new to this and i dont know if i put this in the right place, but please dont get mad at me if it is.
But.... I flashed one of the cyanogenmod nightly builds on my 32gb galaxy nexus, and now it only shows that I have 16gb of storage. I have been looking everywhere for a solution to this. I even tried flashing the stock ROM and it didn't fix a thing. Does anyone have a clue how to fix it? Or is this irreversible?

What are you looking at that only shows 16 GB?

Well i have the internal 32gb sd card. And after I flashed it and plugged it into the computer It said only 16gb total space and it said the same thing on the phone when I looked at the storage under settings. But it's not saying that the other 16gb are being used, just that there's only 16 period.

The storage analyzer shows the same thing is there any files that if they aren't there your phone won't recognize the extra storage space or anything?

""Here is how it works. When the phone is turned on, the processor attempts to load SBOOT. This provides all the details like the partitions so the device can boot properly. In the event that the SBOOT is damaged, it’s designed to default to the SD card—therein lies the exploit. When you’ve hard bricked your device, you can use a SD card to bring it back to life.""
so i found this, could the problem be that since i have an integrated sd card, could my internal storage be bricked or missing my sboot files and be automatically switching over to my sd card? because i did have my phone bricked but i managed to unbrick it using odin. so i guess im asking if this idea will work on mine.

Hello! I have been searching around the forums for this problem, and I can't seem to find it, so I'll post it here.
Anyway, my rooted Droid Incredible, with CyanogenMod 7.1, as well as my mom's Droid Incredible, stock on Android 2.3.4 recently updated by HTC, have both been having troubles with our 16 Gig micro sd cards. Randomly, after a boot, the sd card becomes unreadable and corrupted, so I had to go back to our old 2 gig ones. As far as I know none of our cards were even close to being filled, with cards at a max only being filled about 25 percent full. Any help is appreciated. Thank you!

Copy contents of both to pc, reformat them FAT32, copy content back onto each, and put them back in the devices. Note that the device is OFF when you remove and reinstall the SD.

Thank you, however I already have done this in the past, because our Droid Incredibles have a history of doing this. However, this time is a problem, because our SD card will not even be read by the computer. I am assuming that whatever important is on there is lost and cannot be recovered, although it would be great if we could. My main problem now is that because the phone or the computer (running Windows 7) cannot even know it's there, I cannot reformat. Any advice?
Can you use the phone to reformat it?

Already tried, still wouldn't do anything.

Hmm, if both run without error with the other cards, I can only speculate the 16gb ones are what's wonky.
Absent pc backups from an earlier time, I'd say the 16's get retired and the 2's put back into service.
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA Premium App
Ok thanks. I'm going to try just buying another card from another brand.
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
What brand were you using?
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
Have you checked it on Linux? Download a copy to a disk and boot it up. Then pop it into a card reader and see what's there. Windows doesn't recognize ext partitions, so if your card is formatted ext it may not show up.
Just a thought... Merry Christmas.
...Sorry...I was on the phone...
PNY was the brand I was using, however I am now successfully using an 8 gig SanDisk, and it's working now. You see, the reason I asked is because this isn't the first time this has happened in my Dinc, and I've been able to save it in the past, but this time I couldn't, and I was wondering if there's a reason our sd cards kept crashing. Anyway, we'll see if it was just a bad manufacturer. And I would install Ubuntu, however we only have one computer in the house, so I just keep Ubuntu on a flash drive just in case Windows goes kaput, and I need to access files.

I had something like this happen to me on an 8GB card. It could not format inside the phone, and the laptop was not detecting it, infact there was no option to use as disk drive. Finally I fixed it. I had to go into recovery, mounts and storage, mount usb storage. And lo and behold, it showed up on my laptop when I connected it. I now did a FULL FORMAT, not quick format. After this, I put it back in the phone and it's as good as new. Hope this helps someone.

Yes. Put in the 64GB SD card, go to settings (storage), unmount, format SD. Your microSD should now be partitioned the right way to use it.

I tried it but it won't read as it is a 64 GB card for some reason or its not reading it at all , I don't know if I had to go back to ICS ROMs or what
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda premium
You have to format it in FAT32 with your PC.
If you Google it, you will find a little program that will do that.
I know there is a thread on XDA about this, but I'm at work and don't
have time to search for it.
EDIT: I did the searching for you:

Do you have a Blackberry around? That happened to my microSD when NOTHING at all would read it. I just stuck the card into a Blackberry to see if the card was broken. On the screen, there was a pop-up that said that I had a new memory card inserted and it asked if I wanted to format it. I hit yes, and all of a sudden, my microSD card started working again.
Can I ask where you got your 64gig card from and how much it cost? I would really like to get one. Thanks

Dear all,
A few days ago I got my micro sd card from my Samsung s3 taken without disabling them. Since it is no longer recognized by the phone and not the PC. If I plug in the PC takes a long time until I can read the properties. This shows 0Byte. Formatting is not possible => no medium available!
If the card is defective? Or I can somehow bring to life?
Having same issue here. My second card just did it again after a month. Using a sandisk 32gb. I couldn't find a way to fix it.

If you can't format it, and if your computer can't read it there's no way your phone is going to be able to. You took it out without disabling it in your phone first? Bad mistake that feature is there for a reason
Sounds like you may need a new SD card. I have a 32gb sandisk and mine works perfectly :victory::silly:
I didn't remove mine. Mine was in phone when it just stopped working both times.

I am having a similar problem I never removed SD after initial install and starting a few days ago it constantly says SD has unexpectedly been removed and then it mounts and unmounts on its own I tried reformatting it and sometimes it works for a while but eventually goes back to do that. Rooted running jelly bomb 10.2

My SanDisk 32gb card also did this. I've had bad luck with the 32gb card's. I've had great luck with my SanDisk 64gb ultra card, and 16gb card's.

Is everyone had this issue?? Because I had this issue too with my 32 gb card!!
Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
Had the same issue with my S3.
Turned out that the SD card was dying (the card brand is Team Group), this caused it to be unmounted by itself and then mounted again (sometimes showing notification “sd card removed unexpectedly”), hence triggering the media scanning process.
I created an application to monitor how many times the SD card was removed, and turned out to be unmounted every ~3 mins!!!
I then bought a new Transcend 32GB Class 10 card (made in Korea), and until now, this never happens, no reports from the application whatsoever, and no media process eating my battery.
I just published this app in the play store now, this is the link:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sdcardmonitor
My mom's OG Epic just crapped out.. 16GB Lexar (i think it was) worked fine.... all of a sudden "Damaged SD Card" on top of screen, Put in computer, no dice... Finally got PC to format it, Worked fine in there, Phone still wouldn't read (Formatted different file types each time) tossed in an old 2Gb.. Worked like a true pilsner.. So looks like my computer has 16GB of extra storage now. LOL
I just received my Tmo S3. I'm running CM10.1 (latest nightly) and I noticed that it is showing me that I only have 1.5GB (1591MB to be exact) of RAM. Why is it not showing up with all 2GB? Thanks!
Because that's not how computers work.
I know how computers work, it should be telling me somewhere in the neighborhood of ~1900 mb.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda premium
What he saying is you never get the full 2gb you ask why? The OS has to run somewhere, can't put it on your sd card. That's how computer works less of a issue there because you have such more space but same thing with hard drives. Just like your phone doesn't come with full the 16 or 32gb as prescribed for system apps. Basic knowledge.

Ok so i bought a new 32GB card to use with my new GS4. First it started giving problems where it would sometmes tell me that the card wasn't mounted. then after a while it stopped working altogether. the card is totally unreadable now and i haven't been able to recover the data with any app so far. it kills me to think that i'm going to have to just take a loss on all the pics i had and just format the card. Anybody else having this problem?

I had a problem with a card where it wouldnt stay mounted and after formatting it it still wouldn't. I was able to back everything up when I put the card into my computer. SanDisk gave me a new card and its all good now. Try putting it on a computer and see if you can back it up
