Google wallet errors on 4.2.1 - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

I've been getting errors adding my credit card in wallet since 4.2.1. I've tried xylon and aokp with full wipes and have tried clearing data in the app as well as uninstalling and redownloading from the play store with no luck. I've also done a quick Google search but didn't seem to see anything that would match up with this issue. Any thoughts?

Am I the only one to run into this problem?

try adding it from the website

That's the problem it's on my account but the last step of setting it up causes the error and nothing I do seems to help.

me too
I got a replacement gnex vzw and put 4.21 on it. since then, haven't been able to authorize a card on my gnex
don't know if it's the phone or the rom/software

I'm in the same boat.. worked fine earlier, updated to a 4.2.1 rom, now it doesnt work... has anyone got a fix? or is it a simple as flashing back to a 4.1.x rom and it works again?

Same issue here. I just purchased a factory re-certified Galaxy Nexus and set up Google Wallet on the stock OS and it worked. When I flashed 4.2.1 I made sure to not backup or restore wallet from Titanium Backup. I can log into Google Wallet and see my cards but it says "Setup Required" underneath all my current cards. If I tap them it attempts to add the cards then says "Unexpected Error". I've tried resetting Google Wallet through settings. I've tried deleting all my cards and re-adding them which is only partially successful. The cards seem to get added to the account but the process doesn't make it all the way. It says "Unexpected Error: An unexpected error occurred. Please try again."
UPDATE: I gave up on it and reported it to Google via the Send Feedback option. I did nothing about it but tried again the next day and my cards activated. Everything works now. I'm glad it all worked out. I was starting to think I maimed my new nexus.

I'm experiencing the same. Unexpected error. Please try again. Sure do miss my wallet!

Google play store keep returning error

I am on jedix12 and no matter how many times I try to update an app it refuses to download and returns error code RPC:S-5:AEC-0. It dies when updating, trying to look at the all section in the my apps page, or if i uninstall an app and try to reinstall. A fresh install of a app works just fine. I have tried does what is available on google. Erase google account, restart, open play, add account. Didn't work. I do not know what else i can do. I also completely erased the phone. data, sdcard, system, and cache.

I found this website with Google but still did not work. I don't think it is directly related to the rom because its been doing this with all the roms I flash. I even formatted the system partition but nothing changed. It seems to be related to the Google account. I do not have a second phone to test this theory (Have ubuntu on my galaxy nexus). Has anyone had this issue before?
Try going to settings/applications manager and clear data&cache. If that doesn't work, go to accounts/google and remove account. Then resign in
This did not work. It actually started crashing. I rebooted then the crashing went away but still didn't fix the issue.

Download the new 4.0 playstore i posted the the apps section http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2227852 Did you remove your google account >>> reboot then sign in again?
Yes I remove, reboot, and signed back in. It had the same issue. I just finished install this new play store but it still did not work. I'm going to try to completely format the phone again (data, system, sdcard, and cache). Maybe I made a mistake somewhere. Ill return the results.
The results were negative. The market is still giving the same error. Im going to fix my nexus back to android and then, if it doesn't give me the same issue i will flash the stock ROM onto the note two and see if that fixes it.
I installed cyangoen mod onto the nexus and it turns out that it is doing the on that phone too so its something related to the google account.
EDIT:
Turns out that this is related to the account after all. I called up the markets customer support and they said it was happening to a few other people. They said they would fix it. Thank you all for the help.

[FIX] Google Wallet Device Set-up Failed

Why do you get a "Device Set-up Failed" error?
For security reasons, Google Wallet can only be activated once on a device and must be reset in order to work again.
Can't I reset it by going to www.google.com/wallet?
Yes, but there's a caveat. The Google Wallet app has to respond to the server to confirm that it has been reset. If someone steals your phone and stops the reset process, Google Wallet will be broken. The same goes for installing a new ROM that prevents the Wallet app from communicating with the servers.
Here's how to fix a device set-up failed error:
1. Go to www.google.com/wallet and reset your device
2. Uninstall any trace of Google Wallet
3. Create a nandroid
4. Return your phone to the exact state that it was in when Google Wallet worked. (For me, this was LGNPST to ZVB, rooted but locked)
5. Install xposed installer and reboot
6. Install and activate Google Wallet Root and Region Check Remover module and reboot
7. Install Google Wallet (still can't download from the Play Store)
8. Start up Google Wallet and log in to your account
9. Once set-up completes, create another nandroid
10. After reboot, reset Google Wallet through the app
11. Restore your original nandroid
12. Install xposed and root and region check remover
13. Install Google Wallet and sign in
Thanks to jamebarron88
I don't know how many times I have tried these steps before - the only difference was this time I did go back to an older copy of ZVB (Odex, though I was pretty sure I used DeOdex with my original Wallet) and it worked. Wallet finally re-activated
Thanks for the writeup, hopefully this will help others as well.
(Just for info, now running CM10.1 with Wallet)
Wallet seemed to be working. It even let me add new payment cards, but everywhere ive tried to use it I get a declined error from the merchant. Ive tried with both my credit card and my debit card. Both cards go through once they are physically swiped.
I'm about to give up. Has anyone been successful in making purchases with the app?

Your credit card company might not recognize the charge, give them a call to allow them to authorize it.
This was what happened to me.
I haven't tried to use wallet in a long time so I don't remember the exact state it was when it last worked.. Would going back to stock suffice?
Also where can I find the Google Wallet Root and Region Check Remover module?

I have had no issues. I bought soda from a coke machine. And yesterday I bought coffee at Tim Horton's.
Also. I've used it on stock rooted and aosp ROMs.

Downgraded from 4.4 to 4.3, now Google sync and sign-in fails on device

Alright, this is an interesting one.
So I was on CM 10.2 for the longest time, then I tried CM 11, then finally used SlimKat for a while. Everything was working pretty well on the 4.4 ROMs, except for occasional LTE drops where it just refused to go back to LTE.
Anyway... I decided to go back to a 4.3 ROM. I flashed SlimBean 4.3 first via TWRP. No issues on boot up, LTE works, IMEI intact, WiFi, data, all working. I'm also able to sign in to my Google account - but it only partially works (see screenshot). I also can't sign into any Google services... Play Store, Play Music, Ingress... I just keep getting the "problem communicating with Google servers" error.
Now, I've since tried CM 10.2 again and I've even Odin'ed back to TW 4.3 (MK5). I've fully wiped each time - including full data and sdcard wipe. Every single 4.3 ROM is giving the connection error. I tried going back to a KitKat ROM (CM11) - and it works! No sign in error!
Any ideas what could be causing this?
This same thing happened to me just last night on my Galaxy Nexus after attempting to go back to 4.2.2. The problem turned out to be something to do with 2-step verification. I went to accounts.google.com and disabled 2-step verification, deleted my account on my phone, rebooted, then added my account again and it worked as it was supposed to.

Wow, I owe you one. I would never have thought to try that... But that was indeed my problem. Thanks!
Edit: So after setting up my account on my phone, I then re-enabled 2-factor verification and the error comes back. Did you ever manage to re-enable 2-factor for you account and have it work on your non-KitKat phone?

I did re-enable it and it works, although I did change it from text message to google authenticator.
Hello,
I had to reflash CM 10.2.1-d2att after a failed OTA 4.4 update but I haven't been able to properly sync my Google account with 2-step auth enabled. Wiping and re-flashing new ROMs hasn't fixed anything so my temporary fix has been to disable the 2-step auth. I have tried switching code methods (from app to text message and back) but that hasn't worked. Syncing with password only then enabling 2-step also fails.
Any other suggestions?

"No connection" error in Google Play Store on LS970 Sprint Optimus G

I get a "No connection" error in the Play Store on my ls970 LG Optimus G. I don't know how to fix it. I've disabled adblocker, factory resetted, make sure time is set right, logged out and back on Google account, flashed other roms but it just wont work. I haven't had access to it for over a month now. It says Sync error on all my Google accounts in settings with "Sync is currently experiencing problems. It will be back shortly." at the bottom of the page. No method works. I just want to use Play Store again.

Yeah like BaNks Gapps.
I'm getting this too
I am also having trouble getting a connection to the play store and hangouts (Chrome finds it easily).
I just did a reset from a softbrick using http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2443185
I tried a backup version from my previous install, and also an apk from XDA (4.8.20), http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2227787
I had this happen before, but I did a Titanium Backup restore for the Play Store and that seemed to fix it, but after my reset using the LG Flash tool (see above), my phone won't root properly, so I can't get Titanium Backup to do a restore.
I've cleared my cache, I've installed new versions, reverted to stock, manually set date/time, used automatic date/time, done a factory reset.... can't get play store back.
Failed again.
I just tried the reset again, and again no connection in Google Play Store app. Bizarre.
Started working...
Put in information for my wiped EFS partition, filled ESN/MEID/IMEI info, maybe that started doing it? Doesn't seem like it would, especially since it was working with those all zeros, but it's working now....

How you did it?
That's the thing, I couldn't nail down the reason it started working. As you see, I tried to log what I was doing above, but I couldn't get a sure reason.

android pay not working after flashing stock

So I tried doing the systemless root thing. I tried confirming that android pay would still work by removing my cards then attempting to re-add them and it failed. I tried undoing what I did by flashing stock recovery, boot, and system. Still a no-go. I tried running the flash-all.bat (i removed the "-w" so I would keep my data). Still can't add a card.
I resorted to running the flash-all.bat, build MDB08M, to be 100% stock. I STILL CANNOT add a card. The message has been the same every single time "Android Pay cannot be used - Google is unable to verify that your device or the software running on it is Android compatible"
Am I missing something? I don't understand how a 100% stock flash is not able to work.
If it makes you feel any better I've been running 100% stock since day 1 and tried using Android Pay for the first time today. Failed same as yours saying device or software couldn't be verified. I had originally set it up using my card that was already set up on my Google account. When this card didn't work I removed it and tried adding the card again manually. Couldn't even add a card. Tried rebooting several times and disabled developer options. Still not working.
I can select a card already on my google account, accept the terms, then the message pops up. Happens with two different cards associated with my account.
I'm fully stock, but unlocked bootloader.
Android pay used to work as recently as 4 days ago, but failed today with the error unable to verify.
Not willing to relock bootloader. Was there an update of Google play services that changed the way they check for modifications to include bootloader unlock?
I went back to complete stock relocked bootloader and Android paid don't work for me because chase bank stopped supporting Android pay so I went back to custom ROM
Just to note my bootloader is unlocked, otherwise I am 100% stock.
I manually tried updating Google play services to the latest version, but Android Pay gave me the same message but at a different point in the process - right after I clicked "Add a credit or debit card." I wasn't even able to see cards already associated with my account like before. I ended up uninstalling the update because it seemed to make things worse.
I just tried this app and it says I'm failing the SafetyNet check:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.scottyab.safetynet.sample
Same here. Completely stock 5x with nova. Had added a card, but wasn't working so I deleted it to try to re-add. No luck... Pretty annoying actually. I don't use it that often, but there have been several occasions I forgot my wallet going to the grocery store and paid with android pay cause it's all I had. Hope it gets fixed soon.
Looks like it is working all of a sudden. I was trying the safetynet checking app a few times a day... just tried now and it finally passed. Gave android pay a whirl and both cards were able to be added without issue. So apparently something happened on Google's end. Google play services is the same version now as it was when android pay failed to work.
I was failing the safetynet API yesterday. I still am.
I was also unable to pay with anything yesterday, but today I was able to add a card. Presumably it's partially fixed.
I went completely stock with relocked bootloader and STILL failed the test.
If it's working again, it's probably something wrong on Google's part. I'll try adding a card with systemless root
Ugh, what a headache, I ended up deleting everything for no reason.
Anyone else find it to be working now? I ran the safety net check last night and it passed. Tried adding my card and this time it worked. Big G must have fixed something on their end.
