[Q] Battery draining while turn off - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Hi can anyone help me, I turned off my phone off at night(battery 100%), and in the morning it will be 60%. It drained even though the phone is off. I am running CM10 M2, and franco kernel.
Could this be a ROM or KERNEL problem?
I did experience this when changing to JB. Was not happening in ICS. My standby battery was not very good as well. Around 5%/hr even it is just idle, but this I understand it might be caused by ROM/Kernel/Apps.
But I don't get if it's off. I know it's not the battery fault, because when it is unplugged, I leave it for a day, and it's still on the same level on the next day when I used it again. I don't think it is because the ROM/Kernel. I tried to search about it even on other forums, but still don't have answers. So I try to post this. Anyone having the same problem?
Thank you for any help!! Really appreciate it!

[Q] Very Fast Battery Drain in MIUI 1.9.9 on Data

Hi guys. I'm new to the Android modding scene and I just installed my first ROM yesterday. Now my Droid Incredible is currently running MIUI 1.9.9 with the latest Incredikernel, undervolted by about 100 units.
When the phone is in sleep, the battery is no problem. Over the course of 1.5 hours I lost 2% of battery. However, I sat down and opened up browser (on 3G Data) to read a couple of articles, and in the course of 3-4 minutes, my battery went from 77% to 72%.
I don't know if this is normal, this is the first time using a text-based battery readout instead of a graphical, so maybe I never noticed it before...but I can't help but find this to be unusual. Are there any ways to fix this? Should I undervolt more? Switch to a different kernal? Flash my radio (I'm at Stock Froyo)?
I've looked around and can't find much on the issue (1.9.9 is new, I figure that is part of it), but perhaps you guys have some ideas for fixes?
EDIT: Upon closer look, it's only happening when using 3G Data, using wifi for the same thing and my battery has stayed at 71 for 10 minutes of browsing now. Also Camera drained 3% really quickly...but that was trying to use burst mode for 20 seconds, so I'm sure that was why, but just adding it as a note.
Battery Drains like HELL!!!

You are doing much better. I recently flashed 1.9.9 and initially it was choppy and lagged a lot. Then someone recommended Fugumod kernel. Although, it appeared as if the lags were removed, the display became dull and yellowish. I installed Voodoo color app to fix this issue to some extent but it was of no use..
This is just the beginning... I caliberated the battery yesterday and used it until 89% before I went to sleep.. Today morning, the battery had come down to 59% for no apparent reason. I searched the 'Battery monitor' for some information about this and found none of the services/apps were used for more than 15 minutes and yet the battery had drained the hell out.. The 'display' was at 60% and its duration was the max(~4 hours) and around 4mA of current..
To make matters worse, I rebooted the phone and the charge fell from 59% to 8%... just for a REBOOT!!! and Fugumod kernel doesn't allow me to charge with the phone switched off... This is annoying too.
I am severely disappointed I've never encountered such a disaster before.. There is absolutely no evidence as to what caused this battery drain.
Is there a solution for this? .. I'm charging my phone so that I can flash back to 1.9.2 and the stock kernel..
Any sort of help would be appreciated.. Thanks

CM9 Significant random battery drop, any solutions?

My defy is dropping in batter by around 10% about twice every cycle. It is a random drop and nothing relates to the drop. Apart from it happens at around 40-50% batter and 30-20% or there abouts.
I have tried battery calibration the past few days and doesn't seem to be getting better.
I have looked through threads its just a really specific problem and can't seem to find anything else like it.
All help will be appreciated.

Hi,
it's helpful to know which Build of CM9 and Defy Model you're using. For me, Quarks 30/03/12 Defy+ with Batt Fix for Defy525 is stable and fast. Batt drain is low and up for 2 Days without charging.
on Quarx' CM9 builds the battery drains really slowly when the phone is in deep sleep, but the moment you turn the screen on it goes like hell.
Also, there could be a service waking the phone up, check your battery stats in system settings, usually the top few processes should be Phone Idle, Cell Standby, Screen, Android OS and Android System.
Thanks for the tips. I think I'm using 19/3 eppy build. Might try quarks build to see if it has improvements.
Using the defy+ battery fix helps too? The red lens one on the CM9 page. I will try that too and see if I've got any luck.
I've even tried setvsel to under volt my vsel 1 setting. Found no improvements there either.
Will get back to you with the red lens/defy + battery fix. Also the quarx edition.
Thanks for the help!

Just installed the latest quarx build for the defy. Not the defy plus edition as have a green lens defy.
Same problem has occurred. I've got screen shots of the battery graph but can't upload due to being a PNG file and not a JPEG file.
The best way to describe it is that its a jump from say 60% to 40% in one go. Not a decrease just a drop by around 10-20%.
I did have problems when installing cm9 where the defy didn't recognise there was a battery. So had to go back to a stock sbf. Then reinstall cm9. Is there anyway to solve this battery problem.
Is the sleep state in the defy plus builds. I can't seem to find information on it in the settings.
Thanks again,
Will

Hey Will,
go into Recovery Mode, CPU Settings, Status: (Enable) to disable. Save it and enable again - save and reboot. Maybe that solves some issues with deep sleep.
Cheers...

[Q] Strange battery drain when screen on.

Hi everyone,
sometime ago I started having strange battery drain on my DHD. It only happens when the screen is on.
When screen is off the average battery drain is only around 2-4mA and I lose around 5-7% of battery in 8 hours.
However when I turn the screen on battery fully drains in around 3-4 hours and usage is around 150-450 mA.
Is is normal behaviour?
When I was using stock Sense when I first got the phone I did not have that problem. I wanted something faster and I have installed CM7. Then I wanted to get back to Sense and I have installed Android Revolution HD (Full wipe between each install). At that time battery was still great. Then I wanted new Sense and I have installed CoreDroid 9.3 and the drain I have described started at that point. I thought maybe I had a bad install and I have reinstalled CoreDroid. The problem was still there. So I decided to go back to CM7 which I knew was working fine before but the drain is still here and only when screen is on. I have tried different radios and kernels, working with and without SD card, different brightness settings, wifi on and off, 3g on and off and nothing makes any difference, the drain is still there even in airplane mode. I have tried couple of different batteries but even that did not help, the phone is still draining when screen is on.
Does anyone have the same problem? Is it hardware at fault?
I have tried finding the solution but no one else seems to be suffering from described problem. Also the phone switches itself off at 3600mV. I have read that most of the androids switch itself off at 3200 mV. Is it nomal for DHD? I have recalibrated battery and tried all the possible solutions available on the web.
Does anyone know what is going on with my phone?
My current setup:
Android version: 2.3.7
Baseband version: 12.54.60.25U_26.09.04.11_M2
Kernel Version: [email protected]
Mod version: CyanogenMod-7.2.0-RC1-ace
I will be really grateful for any help.
Thanks,
Greg
I can't help you, but can say that If I take my phone off charge at 100%, I can go out the front garden, to have a cigarette for literally 3-5 mins.....and my battery has gone from 100% down to 88-90% ! !
That's with screen dim as low as it will go, WiFi Off, Data OFF, Gps OFF, Auto Sync OFF...just literally 3-5 mins browsing through folders using ES File Explorer...not playing any videos or anything.
I think it's a general smart phone thing, the bigger the screen, the more power the processor etc etc, the more power it's gonna suck.
As Technology moving as fast as it is, give it a year or 2 and I reckon there will be some crazy battery invention that gives you days and days of battery use and still have loads left.
Matt
Hi Matt,
thanks for the reply. I guess I will have to live with that until my next upgrade.
At least most of the time I am somewhere near wall socket so somehow I manage, but it is annoying to see 50% off battery drained in an hour whenever I play any game on it.

[Q] Battery issues

I'm hoping to get some help on this. I have a T-mo Galaxy s3 and I'm currently running the latest AOKP Milestone 1 rom, which by the way is incredible. I do not use my phone much at all, I send texts, surf the net every once in awhile and that's about it. The battery seems to be draining very fast which I would understand if I was using it a lot. I took it off the charger this morning around 5:30 a.m. 100% charged, and its now at 87% at 7:30. I really haven't used it for anything, so it's basically been on standby. Is that normal battery drainage? I'm just wondering if there is some setting, turning something off, etc that I'm missing to help with this. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
The battery life on JB roms has been less than ICS. Its known and dev's are working on it.
You would need to check a few things and your not going to get a yes or no answer. Post your screen on time as well as whats causing your battery drain.
Is it going into Deep Sleep? check with CPUspy
What are your data/wifi settings? Leaving these on when not needed or in bad reception areas causes increased drain as the phone looks for service.

[Q]What is causing this battery drain?

Hey guys,
I am currently running Rootbox v3.9.1 with SOAP 4 kernel
When I first flashed SOAP kernel, I had an amazing battery life.
However, after a few days, I found my phone unexpectedly dead when I woke up in the morning.
I had more than 80% battery, and it had gone dead.
I thought that was only a coincidence as the phone was fine for a while afterwards.
Recently my phone started draining a lot of battery again, and this really bothers me.
Attached are some screenshots of battery usage, screen on, and etc.
BetterBatteryStat indicated some kernel wakelock but not too significant.
If you take a look at one of my screenshots, AndroidOS indicates "keep awake" time of 20 hours
The fact that the OS consumed ~70% of battery while idle concerns me.
Any ideas?
I will greatly appreciate your help
Download better battery stats or another app that will thee you what is keeping your phone awake.
I have been using BetterBatteryStats to constantly check the wakelocks.
I still couldn't identify the problem.
Therefore I flashed the most updated version of SOAP kernel, and it seems to have fixed it.
it's gone back to 'normal'
I really wonder what was causing this issue..
Thanks for the reply
see if you have the gsiff_daemon issue
http://eugadget.com/how-to-reduce-battery-drain-on-samsung-galaxy-s3/
Unfortunately, no.
I recently move on to BeanStalk from RootBox.
Seems more stable and battery favored.
Thanks for the suggestion.
