RUU for HTC__044 JB - HTC One X

It seems that there are a few shady Chinese forums that are publicising the RUU for HTC_044 JB version. Is this for real? Has anyone tried it? Please let us all know.

You failed to provide a link or a filename or any other useful information. So no, nobody knows if they've tried "it".

well what do you know..there were a bunch of them yesterday night..but today they have all disappeared..

Remember the link that you reported to Mod and that get deleted ?
I replied to your post but your post was deleted too : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=34800519&postcount=770
But I manage to download the RUU from that link before it was deleted.
What I want to say... the RUU is genuine and I already run it to my device and it was a successful flash.
Now .. that RUU discussion already in Football's thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1543604&page=246

The reason I said it was corrupted was that I couldn't extract the boot and recovery images from the rom.zip file. I'm on custom rom and I need to have boot and recovery images to flash the ruu. How did you extract these images. Plus, do you have the link again?
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app

To flash the RUU, you don't need the boot.img and recovery.img. Just relock the bootloader and run the RUU in fastboot mode.
Currently, there is no proper way to extract the JB rom.zip, that is why you thought the RUU was corrupted.
Is your device is on CID HTC__044 ? This RUU is only for HTC__044.
If you still need the RUU, boot.img and the recovery.img, PM me and I'll give you links to download them. BTW, you also can get the RUU from Football's thread in Dev section.

Hey thanks for the headsup. Yes, my device is HTC__044. I'm currently on Maximum V10 (which is really good) but I thought of going back to stock again. Since I'm on a custom boot/ recovery, I was under the impression that you need to flash the stock boot and recovery images and then flash the RUU while in fastboot mode. This was how I went back to stock while I was on ICS. Thanks for the link, though. Please check your PM.

Stock Recovery for HOX 1.29.709.12

This info is for those who only root their HOX Taiwan version phones without custom ROM. When trying the OTA update 2.17.709.2 (Taiwan unbranded version), I had a hard time to find the recovery of Taiwan version 1.29.709.12.
If you are in the same situation as mine, no need to relock, unroot or anything. Just follow the steps to get OTA installed:
1. Download the IMG file, place it in the same folder with fastboot files.
2. Make sure HOX is "Fastboot USB" mode.
3. In cmd: fastboot flash recovery recovery_signed.img
4. Click "Software Update"
5. Once you have install the latest OTA, you can flash whatever recovery you want.
For those who need the 1.29.709.12 RUU, someone else provided this link to download the file. PJ46IMG_ENDEAVOR_U_ICS_40_hTC_Asia_TW_1.29.709.12_Radio_1.1204.107.14_release_261362_signed.zip

Thanks Dear for Fast reply. The given boot img will work on 2.17.751.2 as it is of 2.17.401.2?
Oh opps, didn't see that. You can find the boot.img inside the RUU.
Not too sure if this'll work or not.

you can find the correct RUU for your CID and extract the boot.img from the RUU.
1st. install CID Getter from there: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.tritonsoft.cidgetter&hl=ro
2nd. after finding out what CID your phone has go to google and search something like "correct RUU for CID XXXXXXX"
3rd download CID from http://www.androidruu.com/?developer=Primo (***)
4th extract boot.img from RUU.exe by following the steps in this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2534428
*** be very very careful about the RUU you are downloading! make 100% sure it's exactly the one for your device, just to be sure, try to get the confirmation it's the right one for your phone from more than 1 website.
good luck!

RUU update problem

Hi I have T mobile HTC one m8 which is running on firmware 4.20.531.5 .
Firmware 6.20.531.5 is out for T-mob so I donloaded RUU and before that RELOCKED the bootloader.
On fastboot screen it says RELOCKED.
So I went ahead with RUU installation ( downloaded from htc support website) and ran it.
I get error[155} unknown error with my phone displaying htc logo in white.
This error is due to bootloader not locked but mine is relocked.
I am pretty sure the RUU is correct and I can just go to bootloader screen only.
what should I do now?
Please help.

This is a common problem for folks trying to go from LP to MM by RUU.
You'll need to find or extract the 6.20.531.5 firmware.zip, and flash it in fastboot RUU mode. Then the RUU should install properly.
Are you unable to get OTAs? If the RUU doesn't work, you can just keep updating the phone through OTAs. The function is found in Settings > About > Software Updates.

How could I extract this firmware from exe file ? or do I have to find signed zip of this firmware ?
And should I flash it in adb by fastboot flash firmware firmware.zip ?
use this method to flash firmware T-Mobile first
download FW here
copy FW to folder adb fastboot
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot oem rebootRUU
fastboot flash zip **frimware name.zip**
fastboot flash zip **frimware name.zip** - yes, 2 times
fastboot reboot-bootloader
atter that, you can flash RUU.exe

Yes, to the OP that is what you want (the full stock firmware if you are s-on . . . I believe that one is signed).

If you are s-on, it needs to be signed in order to flash it.
When you run the exe, it will make a ROM.zip in the WIndows temp folder, which is a zip version of the full RUU. You can extract firmware.zip from ROM.zip, but I don't know if its signed anymore after you extract it that way.
It worked

If updating to MM from LP (or KK for that matter) you need to first flash the MM firmware with the same number as the RUU. Its a peculiarity with US Marshmallow RUUs.

Trying to update LeeDroid - Seriously confused - Can't find firmware

Hi all
Really stuck at the moment
My CID is HTC_001 and I'm on version 2.41.401.3? (S-ON)
I'm trying to flash the latest oreo firmware however I can't either find the correct RUU to do it, on top of that I'm trying the flash (I think the right file?_) via SD card however I don't have one and people are mentioned using a command prompt which confused me more.
Please help ! If you can provide links to the RUU or the correct file I'm meant to flash I'd appreciate it
Edit:
Solved - Answer on page two!

The easiest way for someone who doesn't want to take the time to learn how things work would be to download this Nougat RUU
https://androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=241133
To flash RUU:
Rename the file to 2PS6IMG.zip
Place on Ex SD CARD
boot to download mode
Press vol up to flash.
RUU will erase internal storage. Once RUU has flashed boot your phone and take the OTA to OREO. After your phone has taken the OTA flash the latest twrp then flash leedroid Oreo ROM.
The reason I suggest this way instead of flashing firmware is because your going to have to wipe data anyway and by flashing an RUU you have a clean start.

If anyone wants to know what I did to get back to stock so I could download Oreo
Downloaded Fastboot/ADB(Use this guide) https://lifehacker.com/the-easiest-way-to-install-androids-adb-and-fastboot-to-1586992378
Enabled USB debugging on the phone
Download HTC_Fastboot (Google it)
Download the Zip yldlj posted (Only if you are the same CID as me, the check this go onto the app store and find CID checker and then look on XDA for appropriate zip)
Put the download zip into the same folder as ADB/HTC_Fastboot/Fastboot folder. Rename it ota.zip
In the folder where you've extracted the ADB/Fastboot/ hold Ctrl Shift Right click open command window here
Connect your phone via USB
Set your phone onto download mode
From there I used the command htc_fastboot oem rebootRUU
Once loaded into RUU Mode use the command htc_fastboot flash zip ota.zip
Once that was complete I was back to stock Android N which then enables me to update to Oreo
BANG
Fixed
