[Q] Permanent Media Muted - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note II

Hello XDA community. I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. I just encountered a new issue with my Note 2 and hopefully someone will be able to help me out. Today I was trying to watch a video off ESPN.com and realized that there was no sound, and as i try to change the volume with the volume control on the side of the phone, I realized it wasn't working. The volume works for everything else, only the media volume bar isn't working.
Has anyone else experienced this? I hope it is something I am missing, but going through the settings I don't see anything that locks the volume for media. Thanks in advanced!

HTC Tilt2 Ringer Volume Fades *HELP*

Hey everyone, first of all, I wanna say a big THANK YOU to all the chefs on here and all the other xda members. You guys save me from dealing with the suckish ways that all the phones I buy are set up (which apparently these companies think are good... hahaha, yeah...). Well anyway, got a bit of an issue that I need some help with. As I am sure alot of you know already, the ringer volume on the Tilt2 is just AWFUL. I found a couple solutions to somewhat remedy this and give a big boost to the volume, however, I have hit a few obsticles with each. The first was adding the AudioPara4 file to my Windows folder. This fixed the ringer volume problem PERFECTLY, however, it completely kills the mic. Others cannot hear me at all when on calls. The other I tried was a few regestry tweaks. This also fixed my ringer volume (not as good as the first solution did, but my mic still worked so it is tolerable). The issue is not, when my phone first rings, the volume is rather loud and crisp. However, after about 5 seconds, the volume fades down to about half of what it starts at. It doesn't drop out, it is like a 1 second fade effect which would cause me to consider the possibility that this may be a setting (which was a stupid idea on HTCs part if it is, I mean, who wants a fading ringer). I understand the "Increasing Ring" concept (which is the exact opposite of what I have encountered) and am certain that this setting is not enabled on my device. If anyone has any ideas for solutions regarding this "fading" issue, or the AudioPara4 "mic killing" situation, please help. Your feedback will be much appreciated. Thanks in advance. YOU GUYS ROCK!
Hope this helps

How do you disable the volume notification bar?

Hey guys first post here on this forum. Love all your support and work so i hope someone would be able to help with with a little modification I would like to do.
Does anyone else find the volume notification icon/bar rather annoying when using the volume rocker? Whenever im watching a movie on the device and i would like to adjust the volume, the volume notification bar takes up half the screen and as you know lasts for a second or two. Is there a way you can disable this from occurring and also disable the feedback you get from using the rocker aswell?
Cheers

I'm using MX Video player, and it uses it's own "volume slider".

[Q] Music Volume Lower After Answering Call

I play music off my phone in the car. After I answer a call, the music resumes at a much lower volume, despite the fact that I haven't touched the volume on the phone or car. I have to press volume up 3 times and it doesn't go gradually up, but instantly from the low volume to the high it was at. Is there a setting to get the music volume to maintain? Using poweramp. Thanks
Anyone have a similar issue? I remember having it on the GNex as well but fixed it somehow. Cannot remember how, though. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
I continue to experience this same problem on stock 4.1.2 ROM. I suspect it is a bug in the ROM. I don't know how to duplicate the problem because I have gotten calls and the volume was correctly restored. I've also tried making calls and the volume was correctly restored.
check all your sound setting and make sure that the volume is up on the system part of the sound menu...i had the same problem ...that seemed to fix it for me...

Check the themes and apps section, I remember seeing a fix for the volume in there somewhere.
Hey there,
I also have the same problem since using CM11. When using the Samsung Stock Rom, the volume was much louder.
So what app should I use?
Did you guys find a solution for this problem? I have it too...
I found a workaround. Once the call starts press volume down button and then volume up. It works great. The problem is that you have to do this each and every single time...
Has this been fixed in M11?

is anyone having sound issues?

I'm having a strange problem where notification sounds will spontaneously start playing at super low volumes. And the only way to rectify this temporarily is to do the hardware check under device help that was mentioned in another post. However this solution vanishes after the phone is restarted.
I noticed this with the stock notification. So I installed other notification using Zedge. They seem louder.

It's not a stock notification issue. I tried using an external sound. Same problem. It's really annoying and obviously a software glitch. I'm just surprised no one else is having the issue? Again the fix I'm using while effective at making the sound louder for notifications, stops the volume of media from being able to be controlled via the volume buttons.
I am having the sound issue as well.
The first time I noticed it, I was playing with the JBL speaker and when I took it off the volume was low...both for media and notifications. After a reboot, media and notifications seemed fine. Later I was showing a co-worker the JBL Speaker...this time, stopping the music before removing the Mod...the sound volume sounded fine. I think it may have something to do with removing the Mod while its being used??? Can anyone else recall what they were doing when they noticed the difference in audio levels?
I'm not doing anything... when I reboot EVERYTIME, the volume is messed up... It takes me messing with "device help" to get it working again.
Facing the same issue.
Let's hope they will fix this issue in next software update.
