Android Media Process is sucking my battery...... HELP... - Samsung Galaxy W I8150

Just now , I installed 'justunbean inverted gapps' and I thought everything would be alright but after I flashed that .zip file , my battery is dropping like crazy. Then , Watchdog Task Manager shows that Android Media Process is using about 40-50% of my battery! I left my phone on the table for a few minutes and my battery dropped approximately 3-4%! Please tell me what to do...(I saw on other posts that which might be a corrupted picture or music file that caused the problem. I tried to deleted most of the photos and music but no help at all )

I am having exactly the same problem and have nailed it down to the process excessively scanning my 64gb MicroSD card (genuine class 10 Sandisk, tested with H2TestW and formatted in FAT32 for the sake of ClockworkMod backups to ext SD card)
It's driving me insane.

cache is very slow

hey there,
I'm using desire with leedroid 2.0 and my cache is very slow for pictures in gallerie, dialer one and in messages...
when I open a gallerie, it takes many seconds to fully load all thumbnails, even if I had this gallerie opened just 2 mins ago.
same in messages: it takes a while until all uesr-pics are loaded, like in dialerone.
but gallerie still is the slowest... aren't thumbnails saved to disk so that they are regenerated each time or whats the prob??
the only thing I could imagine is that I'm using app2sd and only have a class2 sd card so that (when there are already apps running from the sd card) the read-process is to slow... but for some thumbnails this should be enough IMO...
thanks so far!
I'm wanting a new memory card just for this reason alone. Apps, videos, and images often seem sluggish to load up.

[Q] PROBLEM! Freaky one...duplicate folders on SD card

Hi Folks, sorry to post this here but I am concerned this could be an imminent something. When the phone was hooked up to my computer tonight I noticed some duplicate folders on my SD card - 2 "Music" folders, "Android" and maybe 1-3 more. I disconnected the USB and yeah, I see it on phone file explorers too! But this can't really be possible because if I had 2 Music folders which are 12 GB each I'd be out of space, right (it's a 16 GB card)? So what's going on?
Have u opened the folder and seen what's inside of them and how big the files r (if the exist)?
Sometimes I would notice some doubles in my music but the second file would b 0 bytes and I just dlete them

Did you use your SD card in any other phone, update your phone or flash a different ROM? It could be for any of them or apps you've installed. I don't think its a huge deal though.

The folders appear identical, right down to size, number of files, etc. And no, haven't done anything unusual or made any big changes.

Best thing to do is to backup your card onto a computer. Make those 4 folders and backup those files, check your pix and music on a computer to make sure they copied OK. Then reformat the card and restore so that it only shows 1 of each folder again. Sounds like the directory has become corrupted.
If that doesn't work then try using a different card

Thank you, thank you, thank you. I've been looking for the solution everywhere and you solved my problem so I had to let you know. My external Micro SD card would show 4 copies of every file and I couldn't work with them. After applying your solution I'm back to one copy of each folder when I connect to my PC and I can work with them again. Thank you again!
I'm gonna try this. Been driving me nuts looking for an answer so I've just been dealing with it. Was going to copy 100g of audio to the computer to format the card eventually. I'll let you know how it goes.

What's easier is doing apps2sd.bin script run it through script manager. So now everyone my phone boots it swaps internal for sd card.

What do you mean just run the script and it swaps so it sees the sd cards as the device versus the internal.
I have only like 550Mb of storage left on internal. So I run the script now with no issue.

That's all I was asking for. Didn't seem like anybody ran the script, just said it was easy and a post to the original script.
So when you ran it, did you take off all the "apps" that you had and then reinstall them or move them to the sd? Or did you just leave them where they were. Are you stock rooted or are you reromed and have a different kernel? For some reason it just seems to easy for something so big. Big as being a huge advancement in our phones and seems that there isn't much talk about it.

Stock Rooted NO CUSTOM ANYTHING but doesn't matter it works with Customs Rom and such.
i started all over so "my apps" versus the stock apps bloatware would be installed on the SD card. I had done a factory reset. Then i ran the script and started all over again by getting all apps back and such so all my games are installed on SD card allowing more room for games apps.
Factory Reset>Ran Script>Installed Apps>HAPPINESS
when i ran the script before you run the script like i did through script manager app i gave it su permissions and boot through app itself if you follow the direction form the link i provided its easy to understand and never have to worry about re applying the script. With a fast SD card apps will be easier to load i have the 64GB Sanddisk 30MB/s Mobile Ultra.
I'd be very wary of running everything off a fallable SD card. I prefer the app GL to SD. Works with many apps.

older phones ran everything of the sd almost 75% of the time what are you talking about.
My Epic 4G (Non Touch) ran everything pretty much off the SD card with a 16GB Class 2 with the SD cache set to 1024kb instead of 128kb so it ran as a class 6. Every application ran off it.
Even right now my 64GB Sandisk 30MB/s Class 10 UH1 does primarily my games, other apps.
As long as you don't have a POS as in generic and the card runs well with android your set.
I Play GTA 3 & VC constant i was playing it yesterday for 4HRs straight without issues besides the whole save thing (issue on R* side).

I've learned my lesson from corrupted genuine Sandisk and Samsung SD cards among others. I've never had my internal storage corrupt on me through 8 different smartphones spanning 6 years. I've had my external card corrupt around a dozen times. Constant caching to an SD card WILL degrade its lifespan.

well what else do you want, people want to be able to play more than just 3 games on their damn device.
As it is they charge so much just for a 32GB variant; when the S3 came out it was ridiculous. not to mention the 16GB only allows truly 11GB and after 3 games that all of each require 2GB+ it takes a hit and no more room left.
I had GTA 3, TDKR, MC3, NFSMW, and had no room left i think i only had 550MB left meaning smaller apps not any BIG games. Most people like BIG games.
If they were to simply allow applications and other various data for the sd card to access, and then allow all caching etc... straight to the internal then we'd be fine like they used to before they got rid of Apps2SD.
I use Zedomax's apps2sd zip located in the note 10.1 forum... tested on ljc, lk8, and why not rom.. I have found that pulling the sd card causes soft bricks. Flashing a rom corrected it... I have been running it and it works fine for me. That is MY results....
☆☆☆ I will not be held responsible for any bricks or any damages as a result to flashing this mod. I take no credit for the mod. Flashing a mod intended for another device is high risk and should be avoided. I just didnt give a f**k at the time I flashed it and it actually worked for me. YOUR RESULTS CAN AND MAY VARY!!!☆☆☆

i've been using link2sd and it seems to be working well for me. can you see any drawbacks to this method? this is what i used on my evo lte before i switched to the note 2.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=919326
I recommend directory link as it has proven to be better than the app2sd script, at least for me. When running the app2sd script things would take a while to load and nova 3 would try to install every time I ran the app. When it finally did, it ran pretty well but kind of annoying. The phone would sometimes not run the script and freeze or save new things on to the wrong location. The directory link takes a while to set up but works better in my opinion. You only have to move what you want which comes to be mainly games for me. When the app does fail it will tell you and all you have to do is load it up again. Games for some reason will keep playing even if the app fails and it has an auto unbind when you connect to the computer. I'm using a 64 gig class 10 so a pretty good SD card. Still in exfat not formatted to fat32. Try both to see which suits you best.

download betterbatterystat or something similar, it'll tell you every battery usage
if you want free version, might consider look in android apps section, i think there's one or two beta version free to download
btw if it's about mediaserver, do you have extSD card? if you do, might consider reformat it
Are you making backups in recovery? Not sure if you are even rooted. If you are making backups in recovery, make sure you change the file format of these backups to .tar format. The blobs it creates otherwise will creates hundreds if not thousands of files and your media will scan each of those files to see if there is anything for it.
I was having this battery drain.
Go into your music folder and subfolders and delete all files except the actual mp3's (album art, m3u files etc)...
This fixed my issue.

Galaxy nexus gone slow

Hi. My phone (on Stock unrooted 4.1.2, didn't upgrade to 4.2.2 for no reason) has recently become very, very slow. I guess the reason for that is that I recently copied an MKV movie to it. Ever since I did that, it has been dead slow. Even though I have deleted it now, the sluggishness still persists. There's nothing else that I did (ever since this problem started), and please note, my phone was blazing fast before this, so I don't expect suggestions to flash a new ROM or kernel (because I'm a noob when it comes to flashing ROMs and stuff, and I will have so many more problems doing so). I think my phone can go back to the state on stock ROM and kernel.
Another thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1988233) mentions the same problem, I've found out that I have the exact same problem. My phone wasn't sluggish before I copied the movie. But now that I have removed it, the phone is stil slow and sluggish*
* what does it mean when i say "slow and sluggish":
- pressing the lock button doesn't turn the screen on, i have to do it a couple of times
- apps take longer to load
- widgets don't load (most of them)
- everything that you can imagine (swiping, sliding, etc) is slow.
Help, please. Thanks in advance.
Clear the cache of the video player application that you tried to play the video with. That may help. Go into settings>apps>downloaded>your video app>clear cache.
If it's the Gallery, go into all applications instead of downloaded.

It may be caused by installing too many RAM-hogging apps, if you're rooted you can try using Greenify from the play store and see if that helps.

I didn't copy the movie for playing, I copied it to transfer it somewhere else. And I've cleared cache of the video player MX Player just to be sure, and uninstalled it. Still no use.
One more thing. Apps are not responding, even stock apps. Once I open an app, it takes forever to load, and the message pops up: "<app> is not responding, would you like to stop it?" with the options "wait, stop, report".
All this has started ever since I copied that movie to my phone. Before that, it was blazing fast, no RAM hogging apps or anything.
How about you try to save all your pics/files you have on your phone, and do a factory reset? I know that's the highest you will go, but still worth a shot!
