Hi all, i have a att Xperia ion with international firmware 4.04 and a build no. 6.1.E.2.29
Yesterday, i saw there was a new ver. available and tried to update my phone, failed.
Today, i tried again with no good news.
I have fully charged my phoned and try to update it with sony pc companion, failed again
After extracting the update file, the phone will restart and install the update,
there were several dots on the bottom of the screen which might be the progress indicators in my opinion. My phone stops at the second one and boots up with an error msg "unable to install the update"..
Is it just me or any one have any idea how to fix this?
Have you tried flashing with flashtool?

Hello,
I'm new to Android Device. I just bought Sony Ericsson Xperia Play R800i 2 weeks ago. Yesterday I was found Official Update from Sony Ericsson Site. Then I go with and after downloading update it's message me it will reboot and start again. But nothing happened. My phone was dead then. Even I tried several time to switch on my phone but a short vibrate but not booting. I'm very frustrated.
Then I research a lot and found some resource. I download Flash Tools flashtool-0.6.7.0-windows and I also download new Firmware R800i_4.0.2.A.0.42_Generic.ftf and R800i_4.0.2.A.0.62_(1253-4437).ftf as well as I tried Xperia_Relock_bootloader.ftf.
But nothing Happen. I'm now very upset. Is there anyone can help me to solve this issue?
This happened to me except I had my boot loader unlocked and tried to do an ota. Only got a black screen. I thought I broke it. with the help of xda I flashed ftf file and it worked. I imagine you have rooted your phone otherwise you would return it under warrenty I imagine. what you need to do its find the xda post for ota bricked unlock boot loader download the files and use flash tool to flash the file. worked for me and I thought I was boned. sorry I can't link you to the ppost but don't fear follow their directions and you'll be fine. I hope this lead you to the right post and kinda helped
Hello, I tried installing this firmware to my Xperia Play http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1591398 and using the latest flashtool, but it got stuck at 13% installing the system.sin file for 20 min, so when i unplugged it to re-flash it, my phone would get to the Sony Ericsson logo then a picture of a triangle with an exclamation point and a phone pops up then the phone shuts off. I did some research to try and see what is wrong, I read people were having problems with the latest flashtool so I downloaded the earlier version, 6.9 I believe, and tried to re flash the firmware from above, now it gets stuck at 14% and wont install. Any suggestions??? Any help would be appreciated!
c'mon guys, nothing? 150+ views and no one has a suggestion?

nothing there ..on screen Sony/Android logo
can you enter download mode to flash again Cyanogenmod ?
Get flashtool and your rom and flash your phone. It should work now. happened to me many times, but flashtool saved the phone.
I own a Sony Xperia Arc (purchased on June, 2011) and it doesn't work anymore without any explanation.
When I turn on the phone, it appears Sony Ericcson brand and then, mobile network carrier brand, but then, instead of appearing home, it appears again Sony brand and an infinite loop goes on.
At first,I tried to solve the problem with the Sony tools like PC Companion and Sony Update Service.
Then, I tried to do a hard reset (back + menu and power), but nothing changed (the same bootloop).
What would you do now? Would be useful trying to flash some firmware? I have been reading posts about flashing firmware, bootloader unlocking and rooting Xperia Arc, but I don't now really what would be the best move now.
For your information, I haven't applied any kind of official upgrade before, neither I have tried to root the phone or flash any custom firmware, so I had my phone as it came from factory (with Android 2.3.2). Moreover, I haven't installed any suspicious application, just typical apps like whatsapp and so on. By the way, the phone haven't suffered any crash neither wet.
I have attached the log I have taken when I try to turn on the phone (I get the same log again and again, at the end of the log it reports some problem with memory, I hope it's not a hardware problem):
Try using the Flashtool and report back. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1304634

Hi,
also have the same problem.
I have the same problem.
İ have lt15i firmware. Try to install lt18i via flashtool and something broken and aborted. I tried to install LT15i_4.0.2.A.0.42_(1247-1041).ftf via flashtool. It said flashed but said power on turn on unknown sources and devices. When i try to power on it boot loop in Sony Logo.
I try to use CWM mode. Wipe and flash some data. Couldn't find user data files. Installed a Custom ROM when a boot animation appear its boot again to SONY logo. what should i do?
Any ideas?
In the end, I could fix the problem flashing the latest firmware with Sony Update.
Anyways, thank you very much for the advice

and it dos'n boot again i flash stock rom and it's successful installed but also stuck on blackscreen device dos'n power on please help me and thank you very much
Seems like you had unlocked bootloader and you tried to do OTA update. By this you soft-bricked your phone.
Fortunately, there is a solution for this - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1126358
EDIT: Check the other topic where you posted your issue earlier. Newer download link is posted there.
