Hi everybody, I just got new Note 2 and I can't install any apps from play store or samsung apps. I don't get any error, just notification several minutes after attempt to install that app isn't installed.
Cleared cache, rebooted, removed SD card, still dont work
Do you have any ideas?
Thanks
Have you got any space left on the internal storage? Those errors normally appear when the internal card is full.

Hello!
I don't know why but some apps on my Epic 4G Touch suddenly disappearing. It is like they have on the device but I can't run it. Mostly it is the apps which I move on SD Card.
If I'm trying to reinstall the app I'm getting the stranger thing. On the App menu I have two apps. As Example right now I have two Paypal. One looks normal withe the picture but second called the Paypall too but I can't run it. it looks gray and only have two letters on it "SD".
Is somebody else have the same?
What is it and how to fix it? Can you give me please some advice?
P.S. Actually, I moved the app back to the phone and it fixed the problem. But still, I don't think it is a normal. What do you think?
I have been having the same issue and though it was a Amazon issue but happens on market apparently as well. I am starting to get pissed with all the issues, live the phone but these issues are mounting.
P.s all Apps were on phone storage not sd

Same thing happens to mine, where apps dont show but they are still installed, this happens after wiping cache and wiping dalvik, and/or fixing permissions. Dont know for sure why it occurs

This is normal, not a phone malfunction. When you see an app icon that is greyed out with SD on it, that means you had the app previously installed on your physical micro-sd memory card and the phone is looking for the app. Perhaps you pulled your memory card out before uninstalling the app or for one reason or another you still have left over app data on your memory card which the phone detects as an app which hasnt been reinstalled from the market yet. Ive seen this on my phone when I swapped my memory card into my new exchanged e4gt which was straight out of the box. The phone sees the apps that are supposedly installed but in reality those apps were installed on my previous epic 4g touch. I didnt uninstall the apps before exchanging the phone which resulted in the app data still being on my memory card. Therefore when I put my memory card into my new e4gt, I got the greyed out app icons. The apps were not installed on my new phone yet but the app data was still on my memory card causi.g the phone to see them as apps that are i.stalled on the memory card but actually they're not until you reinstall them from the market WITH your memory card in your phone. I hope you all understand this.
As for having duplicate app icons, that's because you have left over app data from a previous app that was installed to your micro sd memory card and you installed the app again to your phone's built in usb memory.
Here's what I would recommend. Uninstall the apps from your phone memory then reinstall them from the market but make sure your memory card is in your phone and the app will auto install to the micro sd memory card. From there go into Settings:Applications and move the apps to or from your sd card. Clear app data and cache as needed in order to clean up left over files from your memory card/phone installs. Its really not a big deal, you'll figire it out easily . But the phone is not malfunctioning thats the bottom line.
the ones that are greyed out and say "SD" on them may be what you are talking about, but my phone sometimes hides an app from me when I have done nothing but wake up the phone... SD card was formatted when it went into the phone, and hasnt been pulled once. and my apps have been hidden from me 4 times now and a reboot brings them back, so that right there I would call a malfunction.
This is most certainly a malfunction of the phone. I too swapped a memory card from an Epic 4G but I'm having apps disappear that were never installed on the OG Epic. Most recently I got Bejeweled 2 from the Amazon App store as the free app of the day. I have had to re-install it 4 times now. Wind up knight has disappeared twice, about to install it for the 3rd time. I don't know what's going on. I never had this issue with the OG Epic.
Something needs to be done to fix this malfunction.
This for me started happening... And now my notifications/ringers are reset as well. I call this out cause the ringersI use are on the as well. I believe this is new well.

I installed the app Call Recorder Galaxy S2, aka Total Recall. It works really well for our phone. However, I uninstalled it and tried to reinstall it later via the Market but now I'm getting a message stating that I don't have enough space available. I have plenty of space. All other Market/non-market apps/APK files are installing just fine. Do you guys have any recommendations?

Try unmounting the external SD in Settings --> Storage, installing the app, then remount the SD.

Dear All,
Go to Setting, Select About Device, Tap 7 times on Build Number and press back button you will find "Developer Option"
Now your Developer option is enabled, Now Turn on Your Developer Option and restart your device.
Try moving Few apps to SD and monitor for a week,
I have tried it and its working for me ( No more grayed out apps yet )

PS: how can I re-hide the "developer options" menu enabled by tapping 7 times the Build Number ( I can turn it off with dedicated switch entering the menĂ¹ but the menu itself remains there just before the "info" one... forever)

Hi, i did try as you suggested, but SADLY :crying: I had no results... when turning off and then on the device, my moved apps vanished.
In the meantime I found out that is possibile to remove the corruped apps simply by searching corresponding class name in application list (the corrupted apps does not show their name but the implementing java class...) and removing as a normal app: so I had a way to clean off the app list.
BUT, today i had a look in another strange and more heavy problem, related to casual image corruption too.... . I noted that the images tended to get corrupted after turning off and on the device and... had divine inspiration
I tried with another SD card and... BINGO! That was the problem!
My 64GB (probably low quality) Class10 card, did all that mess
Now I'm using a 32GB high quality original samsung SD card and have no more problems... (i turned off and on many times after moving apps)
Hope this helps other people too!
Bye
Thanks for that mate i am having the same problem and was lost until you said changing the sd card to an original samsung card did the trick, i havent tried it yet but will do once i receive my original 64GB samsung SDXC class 10 UHS-1 70mb/s read and 20mb/s write speed sdcard. Hell its even got the shiny hologram on it hope it works for me. I smell something foul with samsung on this matter. Perhaps they want you to only use samsung sdcards.
To make a long story short, I took some irreplaceable pictures today that disappeared.
I have my camera saving to my 64gb memory card. I took a few pictures and a couple of panoramas and they ended up showing up glitchy and useless.
They didn't appear in the gallery with the exception of a few images.
It looked odd.
I rebooted the phone and tried to go into the gallery and they just weren't there. The previews showed up momentarily and then they vanished.
Now when I try to take a photo to go to my external memory, it works fine. It didn't pre-reboot.
Is there a method of:
A: Recovering my lost 10-15 images.
B: Ensuring that this doesn't happen in the future.
For the record, my card seems to be working fine. Music on it loads up quickly as well as any other images that I loaded onto it. Files open and there is zero lag. I don't suspect that the card is corrupted or anything.
Thanks guys.

You could try something like Recuva: https://www.piriform.com/recuva
I successfully used that to restore files deleted from microSD cards a few years back.

I'm unfortunately on a Mac. Guess I'll boot into boot camp and install it and give it a go.
I hope the pictures actually existed as files though and not some cached object.
Update:
Overnight, the saving issue arose again. I'm forced to use internal storage when using my camera.
I've seen this problem before. So SD cards don't work well with Samsung devices. I bought a Samsung SD card and never seem this problem again. I recommend you do the same.

I wish I wasn't broke :/
I'm using a SanDisk 64gb. Guess I've gotta dig up some cash and get a Samsung.
I don't see how this is an issue though.
What is your card formatted in? My current is in exfat. I'm thinking the format may be an issue.
It may be a kitkat issue. Google "kitkat SD card write". Root users are using a fix that sets permissions so the sd card can be written to by all apps as expected.

Right before I came across your post, I found some info on the kitkat issue with sd cards. I'm guessing that's what's causing this problem. Odd because it's the default Samsung camera that's messing up.
Oh, how I miss root. I just hope we get root soon. I'm pretty close to selling this phone and hopping on Tmobile.
I had this problem happen with very VERY irreplaceable pictures, on my backpacking trip to china, one of the most irreplaceable pictures of my entire life was taken, appeared glitchy in gallery, phone reset and it was gone.
after taking out the SD card, and doing many deep scans to try and recover the deleted pictures, it seems the pictures arent there, which leads me to believe it somehow tried to save it in internal memory (which cant be mounted as a drive, so cannot be recovered).
if you can somehow flash an older version of android (like 2.xx) you can mount your phone as a drive, and then attempt to recover deleted data from your internal SD..
yeah all i can say is ,,|,, you samsung.
I too have the same problems as the OP. And I am on SAMSUNG micro SD card! Guess it is one of those first batch gremlins?
However, I think the problem has gone away after I switch on the image "preview" option. Give it a try.
I had the same issue with a 64gGB SanDisk micro SD card. The camera would seem as if it was taking pictures but nothing was actually saved; they just shows as corrupted files in the gallery. I lost countless irreplaceable images from our honeymoon because of this. Once I switched to a 32GB Samsung micro SD card I never had the issue again, also saving the pictures directly to the internal memory solved the problem. I use the SD card for music as well so it has to be something with the phone writing to the SD card. From what I've read it's a issue with the compatability with samsung and non samsung sd cards for some reason.

Never had this issue with any of my Samsung phones (S2, S4, and now the Note 4). I'm using a SanDisk Class 10 32GB. I'd recommend pulling the files off the SD and doing a format. Download the App SD Maid as well for routine maintenance on your SD. Good luck.
My 64GB SanDisk SD card was giving unexpected unmounted errors, so I picked up a Samsung 64GB SD card. The unexpected unmount errors went away, but now I have this problem. Pictures are not saving to the SD card correctly. Sometimes it says media not found. Others the preview/thumbnail looks fine but the full view is just grey.
I am going to try saving to internal memory and manually moving to the SD card as I run out of room.

The first app I had problems with was Battle camp. After I downloaded the Christmas update the app wouldn't install. It kept throwing invalid manifest errors. So I Uninstalled the app and reinstalled it. Now it installs and I can open it. But, if the app gets killed from the app switcher or a couple hours of doing other things when I try to open the app it crashes and pops up with a suddenly stopped report that I can submit.
At that point I have to reboot to try and open the app with out the suddenly stopped error. After the reboot the app icon changes to a generic android guy. When I try to open it, it says the app isn't installed.
Last night the OTA AT&T update hit my phone. This morning 2 more games showed the generic android guy for an icon and said app not installed. Dungeon Hunter 4 and Galaxy on fire 2.
I didn't bother trying to reinstall them and as far as I know they didn't have any updates.
Now I went to play Star Wars Commander and it said there was an update. I updated and it installed fine. But, now I have the same problem with that app as Battle camp. Works once then auto crashes. On reboot it says not installed.
I am sooooooo wishing I had traded my Note 2 for an iPhone 6+...
Any suggestions?

SNAFU!!
I used My files to copy all my photos, easy note notes, zedge files, etc to my SD card.
I then removed the SD card after I checked all the folders to make sure there was data in the copied folders. I understand mounted the SD card and removed it from the phone. I powered down the phone and used volume up, home, & power button to get to the reset menu. I reset all data and cleared the cashe.
After the reboot I powered down and reinstalled the SD card. All the data I copied is gone. All the existing data I put on it with my computer (music, video from my note 2, etc) is still there. All copied folders from before the reset are empty. Photos shows all my pictures I copied as broken links that when you click on them it says no data found.
I reinstalled Battle camp and Star Wars commander. Both showed broken links 10 minutes after install I hadn't even got to opening them because.i was trying to find my missing SD card data. Both shortcuts say app not installed when clicked on.
I guess I will be stopping at AT&T after work to see about exchanging my POS phone.
i had problems on my S4 with keeping apps from disappearing on my homescreen. Turned out to be the install location of some apps. For some reason, some apps install directly to my external SD Card, which causes it to disappear upon reboot. I dont have problems with it crashing or uninstalling but maybe its related. Try removing your sd card and then installing it and seeing if it crashes with the sdcard physically removed.
AT&T is sending me a replacement
SD card installed or not. It is still losing apps. And, the writing to the SD card issue was enough for AT&T tech support to send me a warranty replacement. Their oustanding in store customer service not withstanding (sarcasm), I am pretty happy. The replacement is a refurb, but I will get it tomorrow. The kicker is the AT&T live chat guy says the manager of the store I was in should have replaced my phone on the spot instead of sending me home to talk to tech support myself. Maybe the manager should have been helping her girl, that was helping me, instead of hiding in the back room with the other 2 employees that were working. At least they are crediting me the 2 day shipping charge.
those 'refurbs' usually always look brand new. Good luck with it.
The Refurbished does look brand new
I got it activated and sure enough I am still having the same issues. Now the chances of 2 bad phones is pretty remote. So I grabbed my 32gb card out of my action cam. A sandisk SD card.
Formatted it and everything seems fine now. Apps aren't uninstalling themselves and my files actually transfers files to the card that stay after a reboot.
I guess my 2 64gb SD cards (1 samsung and one sandisk) are just funky. They work fine on my computer and in other devices but my 2 note 4s didn't like them
