Found the audio/sounds lacking on the N2, so here are all the sounds from CM10.
Using Root Explorer or similar, place the sound files in their respective folders in /system/media/audio and reboot phone
Although the existing files have rw-r-r-- permissions, they work without changing permissions at all.
Download here.
Enjoy.
Do we have to delete any old files or will they just be overwritten?

There shouldn't be any overlap with the existing sound files so it shouldn't ask if you want to replace it.

Self explanatory post.. Tried searching for info but mostly its sites telling me how to set a wallpaper.
So far every ICS rom hasn't allowed me to properly size and add a picture as a wallpaper.. So hoping there is a way I can edit something to pick a picture I want.
The pictures are perfectly sized since I've used them on GB roms.

So I found the dark side wallpaper apk. And I figure if I rename a wallpaper to match the name in the existing apk it would save me having to build from scratch while I learn how to do that.
So question is how do I insert into the apk? Do I unpack it first? Which then makes me ask how do I repack it? And can I do that all on my phone?

Well in my impatience I unzipped the Darkside wallpaper apk, put my pic into it and renamed the pic to match one of the existing pictures. Then I re zipper it all and renamed it from zip to apk. All inside es explorer.
Then I stuck the apk into system and it worked yay. It's ghetto but it worked until the ROMs fix wallpaper setting.

I've never tried, but I figure you would be able to just take an image and put it in the same location as the other system wallpapers? Might need to set permissions but I don't see why that wouldn't work..

No idea where the system wallpapers are.

Using a root explorer System>media>audio>ui delete or rename "PowerOn.ogg"
Thank you! The sound has been driving me crazy. I should've known there was an easy way to get rid of it.
Sweet! Thank you!

Is it fine to just delete the file - does it result in any errors? Would it be better to replace it with an empty dummy .mp3 file instead or doesn't matter? Thanks
Easiest thing to do is just rename it, adding a .bak to the end of it. Still there if you want to use it later, but not used right now
I have doubles, triples and quadruples of ringtones on my phone. A ton of these won't play at all. Is there an app or a PC program that can filter thru these for me? I hate to delete the entire folder because I have some I like. Thanks guys!

Have your flashed a new ROM on top of another one? Perhaps, old folders from another ROM is still on your phone which has ringtones from a different sub-folder? Try reflashing the ROM again with a simple cache/dalvik cache wipe.
I do clean installs on all the roms I flash. I guess I'm going to have to save the ones I like and delete the rest.

Did you try fixing the permissions?
I never done this but done other stuff. Find the folder where the sound files are located, look and remember their permission.(rw--r--r) or something like that. Rename the new sound files to the exact name of your systems old one. Copy a back up of your old sound files(optional). Then copy over the new sound files replacing the old ones
Now reboot.
Open file manager and change the permissions to match the old one.
Reboot.
Enjoy.

I just changed the annoying touch ui sound with that of the Nexus 5. Upon reboot I noticed something odd. The touch screen sound had changed but when touching the capacitive buttons the old "water drop" sound remained. Any ideas?
No one has any info on this? Would it be better suited for Themes & Apps section?

You have to change the S_HW_Touch.ogg to your desired sound. I just renamed the Effect_Tick.ogg to S_HW_Touch.ogg in a folder I created in the external SD card and wala, hardware buttons now make the tick noise.
Theres a thread about this in the AT&T theme and apps section.
I bought ultimate sound pro which lets you choose any sound you want for any system sound but I still prefer just using root explorer and doing this manually it's just more fun and educating imo.

Thank you and I apologize as I should have searched a little more. I should have just played back every OGG file until I found it. I also reset the permissions 644 but not sure if it was necessary
