Can anyone help with rooting my e4gt with ics and f127 installed ota. Need a safe method, not looking for custom kernel or rom, just superuser and possibly upgrading in the future. Thank you.

Man, this is the EPIC 4G forum, not for your precious EPIC 4G TOUCH. A separate forum elsewhere to be found.

Hey guys, just picked up my Epic 4g yesterday coming from HTC Thunderbolt. This is a sweet phone. I've done some searching but I must be missing a way to root this newest version.
Could someone please provide me some links? I've done some reading and learning about Odin. I've got that downloaded. I know I've got plenty more learning and reading to do and just want to make I've got all my ducks in a row before I start the root process.
Thanks in advance!

I'm looking to root my Boost Mobile Samsung Epic Touch 4G aka Samsung Galaxy S2, I don't care about flashing or nothing. Just want to achieve root to get adblock working on my phone is there a safe way to do this?

Thread moved. Please keep the questions in the Q&A section. Not development. Thank you.
And thank you to the members who just reported/tried to help instead of flaming.

Thanks for the links guys. I guess I'm just reserved because I read that after root ppl have been getting drastically reduced 4g speeds with custom kernels. To confirm, I can gain root the flash back to stock kernel and all will be well?

Sorry for the short post - was posting on the go. The FI22 one clicks on SXTP Developers are pure stock with only root added... including the kernel. Hope that clears it up.
Maybe I'm blind but is there a STOCK (Not CM9) ICS for this phone? I'm seeing plenty of of Gingerbreads and CM9/10 stuff but does stock ICS (rooted) exist? Thanks in advance...
Nope. The epic never made it beyond gingerbread officially. Also, just to clarify this is the epic 4g (sph-d700) with the keyboard. The epic touch (sph-d710) did get ICS stock.

Ok thanks. I have the touch actually (4G is my girl's) but I guess I didn't realize that.

I bought the r760, which is almost like the epic touch. My question is can you guys please, please port the blazer from 4.1 GB el29 to this phone. My r760 is rooted with a custom recovery. It looks exactly like the epic, just doesn't have 4g. Help me please. I'll help you out with a small donation.

I thought the only real difference is changing a couple things for data and mms.

It may look the same, but I can assure you that hardware is much different. You could go to your device section and ask them for a port because they would know your device much better.

They have a spot on this website for this phone? Can you link it? Please?

This is my bad. It is pretty much the same device. I believe that you can actually just flash the ROM you want.
This may help. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1531303
I am not entirely sure about it to be completely honest...
A few on android central had this phone. As far as I know they just had data and mms problems because of the sprint stuff. There is a us cellular website with roms and such specifically for that device. But roms here should work with a few things changed around.

Hello,
I am considering using Calkulin's ROM. However, I am not familar with flashing ROMs. My charging/data port stopped working a long time ago. It is possible to flash the ROM via SDCard? Thank you in advance.

Never heard of such a ROM for Epic 4G, or am I blind? Is your phone an Epic 4G, Epic 4G Touch or something else?

Then you don't belong here... A separate forum for the Epic 4G Touch is a search away from you.

Since OP realized he was in the wrong forum and stated he would post the question in the correct device forum I will lock this thread.
Have a great day!
