Cannot get LTE after flshing to CM10 (stable) - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

Hi all,
Newbie, first post here
Here's what I did:
1. Installed Samsung GS3 QCom ToolKit + samsung drivers
2. In the toolkit, successfully rooted phone (Flash Insecure Boot, CWM, Root phone + Install Busybox)
3. Installed ROM Manager from Market
4. Did a ROM backup with ROM Manager
5. Installed Cyanogen Mod: ROM Manager -> Download Rom -> CyanogenMod 10.0.0
After the ROM installed OK, I could not get "4G" icon to come up (I know that LTE="4G" icon). It would alternate between 3G/H/H+
I do know that my area has LTE, and stock ROM shows "4G"
Finally, I restored back to stock (rooted) from within phone using backup from step 4. The "4G" icon came back, so I know it's using LTE
Any ideas? I have tried wiping cache/dalvik, verifying correct APN settings for LTE.
I really want to go back to CM10. Thanks!

Set preferred network to LTE too and than restart your phone and it should work forever.

the H stands for HSPA and the H+ stands for HSPA+
ATT refers to their HSPA and HSPA+ networks as "4g" which is why the stock rom showed that.... CM10 actually shows you to what type of network you are connected to.
Nothing has changed speed wise.. you are still connecting to the same old networks at the same speeds. Before it just said 4g no matter what.. now it shows exactly what its doing.

So.. does that mean I never had LTE, even on the stock ROM?

that is a possibility.
on stock ROM, it would say 4G when you are connected to HSPA/HSPA+.
and then if you were on LTE, it would say 4G and 'LTE' underneath it.

So I was driving around neighbohood in my town, and I noticed the "LTE" popped up on my stock ROM. Looks like it is indeed a coverage issue, even though map clearly shows that area has LTE

[Q] Samsung S3. No LTE after reboot

It is my first forum post and I believe I am posting it in the right section... I tried finding a similar problem to mine, but seemed to only find people that wanted to turn LTE off instead of on. The AT&T Galaxy S3 phone is rooted and I have gone between ics and jb roms and have gotten LTE to work every time. The problem is after I reboot the phone I lose LTE. I get 20+ up 10 down on LTE. After I loose LTE I get around 8 up 4 down.
I have tried.
1.) Re-installing a rom which gives me LTE until I reboot phone.
2.) I have tried installing modems from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1831898. If I have lost LTE after reboot, I can (9 out of 10) get LTE to work again after installing a modem. I lose it once I reboot the phone again though and am unable to flash a new modem to get LTE back to working and it won't unless I do 1.) again.
3.) I have made sure apn settings are on the correct pta lte setting. Usually most of the rom's have that already set to begin with.
4.) I have tried the *#2263# to change it to LTE. This WORKS and will reboot my phone into LTE everytime, but I lose being able to make phone calls, etc. From what I understand as well, I am unable to go to 3g/2g after settings LTE ALL and I don't want that either...
It is the only problem I have had with this phone. I notice a lot of times after I install a rom and reboot, it upgrades, and I lose LTE. I install a modem and get LTE back. I reboot phone normally without doing anything to the phone and it upgrades apps again and I lose LTE. That is the only conclusion I can come to as to why I lose LTE after reboot.

I am in the same boat as you. I can force LTE with *#*#4636#*#* and setting it to LTe only. But I lose phone calls and if I restart it goes back to WCDMA.
What rom are you using some roms don't have the late icon they have 4g instead. Also double check that you have the right lte apn enabled

Yea I realized that jb roms do not show 4g lte, they just show 4g. I check to see if I have LTE by doing going to the Settings->About Device-> Status and looking at Mobile network type... and/or a speed test as well.
I came from and tried these rom's
Year of The Dragon
Ariel.2.07 [2ETO][Aroma]
WanamLite Smooth,Stable & Battery
Right now I am on Stock TouchWiz Jelly Bean PORT (JellyBean 747 Milestone 3)
I have gotten LTE speeds on every single one of the roms until I reboot phone.
[Update- Best Solution So far]
I found that using the WanamLite Rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1782732 enabled me to get LTE back fairly easy.
Everything is in the Settings->More Settings->Mobile Networks area.
1. I entered in a new Access point and just put Name: "pta" APN: "pta". You can fill out the rest like the MMSC, MMS proxy, etc but I did not need to.
2. Then went to Network Operators and waited for it to search for the networks (takes a minute or two). It showed up for me as two options being Maritime and AT&T. I selected Maritime and registered it. I was not able to register on AT&T and I don't even know what Maritime is. However,
3. I went to Network mode: Set it to GSM/HSPA/LTE(Auto mode). I get LTE every time.
Every time I reboot I can get LTE to work by doing steps 2.) and 3.) and is a little annoying, but better than having to flash a rom every time I reboot and lose LTE. I would like to try and find a solution though where I wouldn't have to do this every time I reboot.
[EDIT] There might be roaming charges, but by disabling Data roaming you should be fine. I believe you might incur charges if you try connecting to this network while on a cruise and have data roaming enabled. I have not done a lot of research on this so I could be wrong.

Help. No LTE on rogers

Flashed touchwiz jellybean Rom. Had no lte. Flashed back to rogers original 4.0.4 and no longer have lte or 4g. Do I have to get into an lte area before It registers? I have my tab with me and it's getting 1 bar lte 4g in a weak area. Please help.

I've had the same experience with three other roms I've flashed on my roger gs3. I have been through apn settings on all of the roms, but I still dont get LTE. When I recover the stock rom it goes back to 4g/lte every time. So, I'm sticking with the stock rom until there is a definitive fix. I'm nowhere near good enough at this to figure it out myself.
I suggest, if you want to keep receiving lte service, that you restore your stock rogers rom.
From what I've been reading on xda threads; it seems that this problem is central to the at&t/rogers/bell phones.
Roms I have tried:
d2can OTA keeproot
aokp_JB_d2att-ota-eng.task650-ktoonsez-10.3.2012c (this one is so bad ass; I might just put up with no lte)
Liquid smooth d2att jb v.2.0
NexusMod-Triune-II-(UX)-20120918-NIGHTLY
Are you basing the no lte status solely on the icon in your notification bar, or have you ran speed tests to confirm your network speed?
speed tested everytime

No, unfortunately, when experiencing these 3g/h+ instead of 4g/lte problems, on the flashed jb roms, my download speeds are consistently under 5mb/s. When restored to stock rom they go up to almost 10mbs on 4g. I haven't been able to test the lte speeds yet because rogers towers somehow manage to miss my street, but are covering the college five blocks from here. I'll test again next time I'm on campus and see how they both fare.
There seem to be so many variables involved. I'm just trying to eliminate them one by one, so as not to confound the results.
I was thinking that the aosp roms don't usually have an lte icon.

I had to give up on ktoonsez &task rom and go with CM10 nightly. This is after trying out cm cfx official rom, to no avail.
I was able to get 4g with cfx, task 650&ktoonsez,but only for a short time then they would automatically either lose signal, or switch to a different APN all together. Now I have around 13 mbps on CM10 with H+. I'll settle for that instead of sketchy hit or miss with the others. I'd like to figure out how to fix Task650&ktoonsez rom. I prefer that one so far after playing around with them all a bit.

I have a question for GS3 net work

SOS HELP
when I flashed AOKP's rom and using this rom almost half year
there has a crazy problem is about the T Mobile H+ signal
I remember that I used the stock rom showing the 4G icon everytime. and speed really fast.
but now I'm using the AOKP's rom when you using the H+ maybe just five minutes the network signal change to E(EDGE) or 3G
and network just stopped alittle while like 5-25 seconds then returned back to H+ or H
the problem make me crazy,
I searched in google sometimes but I didn't find any answer, maybe I just use wrong keyword on it.
so, anyone knows this issue? and how to solve that?
AOKP was released a 4g_signal.zip but it could not work right now on the android 4.2.2 ...
It happened every AOKP rom. when I flashed and use it
network signal is really instability.
It's not an issue.. the TMO S3 has only been supporting the HSPA+ bands at most and that is our 4G. When you flash an AOSP ROM it will display H+, which are the bands your on when your network is originally displayed as 4G on a stock ROM. H+ is displayed while data is being transferred. When no data is being transferred your data will bump down to UMTS or EDGE, which displays as your 3G, to conserve more battery. It's something you're gonna have to get used to on AOSP ROMs

Actually, no it does not jump down to Edge when there is no data pull (and you'll use MORE battery, because its search for the 4G network). When there is no data pull, it will display (on custom ROMs) as 3G. When it pulls data, it will show either H or H+. You already know that T-Mo network (exception of the LTE cities) has no difference between their 4G and 3G.
Now, you said that you're getting edge every once in a while. Try flashing a new radio. But, I'm confused, because you said you're trying to flash a 4G zip onto 4.2. There hasn't been a 4G zip even for a long time on 4.1. It won't work with most 4.1 ROMs, as the last time I saw a 4G zip it was for a specific updated of AOKP. Anyway, how long has the issue been going on since you started dipping down to Edge at certain times?

My mistake. That is what I was initially referring to. I should have said H+ displays AFTER data has been pulled. Thanks for clearing that up for me.

[SOLVED] No Sprint S3 CM 10.1.2 4G LTE Service

Evening all,
I've seen other posts about this, but haven't found a solution that worked for me...
I have a Sprint Samsung Galaxy S3 w/ CM 10.1.2, MD4 baseband, and can't get 4G LTE service.
Settings under "mobile network settings" - data enabled - yes, network mode - LTE / CDMA / EvDo, System Select - Auto: Domestic Roaming, CDMA subscription - NV.
Under about phone - stauts, I see mobile network type - LTE:13, service state - in service, roaming - not roaming, mobile network state - disconnected.
When I turn 4G LTE off, 3G connects and I can browse the internet. Turn LTE back on, and no mobile network.
I've tried rebooting, I've tried flashing the MD4 radio, I've tried reflashing to the stock rom...no success. When I flash stock, I can access 4G but then once I flash CM 10.1.2, only 3G works.
When I was in stock, I did update the PRL.
Seems like all the typical solutions just aren't working...please help!

PRL has nothing to do with LTE...it only updates info for 3g/1x. You should do a speedtest on stock and CM and see if there is a difference. Sometimes, my phone will say 4g, but I get 3g speeds. Try a stable version of CM vs a nightly.

10.1.2 is the stable version, see the CM website for d2spr (Sprint Samsung Galaxy S3). Can't post the link myself since I'm still considered a newb by xda...

Figured it out. Had to update the APN settings for "APN2 LTE internet" and "APN2 EHRPD internet" such that the apn setting was saved as "n.c4.ispsn" instead of "n.ispsn", 4G LTE working immediately after saving.

What I did was from a stock rom (or one where 4G is otherwise working), downloaded an APN config app from the Play Store. The app saved the APN data to an XML file which I then emailed to myself so I could view it on my laptop. I rebooted into recovery, wiped to factory settings and wiped cache, then installed CM 10.1.3 RC2 and gapps. Once the phone restarted I went to the APN settings and made sure each entry matched what I found in the XML file. This is when I saw the last two entries having the different apn setting and updated both. Your settings are quite possibly different.
Where is APN found and what exactly is the name of the app your using?

[Q] If my phone turns off for a long time, I lose ability to connect to 4g LTE

Hello, I'm pretty new to the custom rom world.
I am currently using latest Spirit AOSP cm11/kitkat based rom with the stock kernel that comes with this.
Now If i use the ND8 stock rom, there is no problem whatsoever with the ability to connect to 4g LTE.
But for some reason, when I'm on custom ROM and my device turns off for a long time / I disable my radio (when connected to wifi)--I'm not sure which one causes the problem--the phone just loses ability to connect to LTE.
I use two apps:
LTE Discovery
advanced signal status
advanced signal status lets me see if my phone can find 4g lte signal/how strong it is. When the 4g LTE is working, i get signals in -(number)db, but when it doesn't it just says n/a for all the sections.
with LTE discovery I use it to see what type of connection i get-- LTE when 4glte is working, and eHRDP? or evdo rev. A for when I can't connect to lte.
my APN settings are correctly set-- my phone has data, voice, and text-- it's just the LTE connection that gets dropped for seemingly no reason.
My method of fixing this is wiping data/cache/delvik/system, install stock kk nd8, perform SCRTN, make sure data/phone/text is working
then I wipe data and cache, then restore my rom... that is working..
If I restore to a point when lte was not working, lte will not work..
but doing this everytime my phone can't lte is very tiring..
I don't even know where to start troubleshooting this issue i have..
I don't even know if anybody has the same issue.. or even heard of anything even close to this.. please help
