Note 2 cam actualy rec at 120FPS?? doubt it. - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III

our version of the slow motion camera seems like junk.. i thought i read that the actual note 2 ups the fps for slowmo.. it seems that our version just slows down the og video at 30fps...
Not sure if this has been mentioned yet.. but is it even possible for our hardware to record 120 fps? if so why not have it record at that all the time to increase quality?

Froyo - 720p video recording comparing to iPhone 4

Just about an hour ago, I have upgraded my HTC Desire to Froyo 2.2. So I have quickly done a 720p video recording, and compare to iPhone 4.
The result (data taken from QuickTime player):
Movie FPS: HTC Desire (16.37), iPhone 4 (29.54)
Data Rate: HTC Desire (7.42 mbits/sec), iPhone 4 (10.44 mbits/sec)
Yupe. I tested 720p and it is not good.
I don't have iPhone 4, so I cannot compare.
I hope the 480p of HTC Desire is getting better. I prefer 480p if I can get good fps.
Can you test 480p with your tool above?
What about this clip, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qLmvRSxgtd8
Running at 30 fps

Well, it is running Froyo (r5 MoDaCo), not the stock HTC Froyo...

The 480p now supports H.264. It looked super smooth from what I did a quick test of.
The 480p seems much better using MPEG4 than H264, in H264 there is more tearing during fast motion and some artifacts.
What a shame. Had high hopes for HTC's 720p implementation
And the same s***e audio too...
Surely the desire has the hardware to support 720p at almost 30fps.
Who does HTC's code for christ sake!

If I record inside with low light my FPS is 12.
Filming outside through a window made it 22FPS.
I am not surprised by the low quality of the camcorder. I kinda expected that. As opposed to doinbox, I don't think the camera of the Desire is capable of 30fps in such high resolutions (especially when I know what it is capable of in lower resolutions). Well, maybe if there are sufficient lightning conditions... Don't know It's already dusk here so I can't test it outside.

But seriously that isnt acceptable. If, lets say, when the desire was first released it was advertised as supporting 720p video recording and you went out and bought it only to find it had poor framerates you would think it was broke. You wouldnt buy a tv that said it could support 1080p video but only at 22fps its ridiculous really. The Desire probably with alot of time and effort could record 1080p at 30fps. But it seems they don't want to spend the time in achieving this.
Which really annoys me!

The Hardware in the desire is much more powerful than what you would find in a 5 megapixel digital camera that can record 1080p video at 30fps.

Check this link its a pocket HD camcorder. Im sure it has terrible hardware inside yet it can record 1080p at 30fps. So what would make you think the desire can't do it.

We had to wait till Android 2.2 for us to get 720p. Perhaps it's not the hardware, but the software that is the limitation.

That's what I'm saying the hardware does support it but HTC are just not putting the hours into coding for us to get 30+fps.
could a higher class microSD Card possibly make any difference? I'm a bit disappointed myself especially when the picture quality itself is brilliant for a mobile device
I doubt that the FPS problem is CPU related. It's more likely an I/O bottleneck in the camera hardware or driver.
Couldn't it be optics quality related? It is a tiny lens after all, and if we get 22fps in sunlight but 16fps indoors, then surely that implies issues caused by the camera needing a slow shutter speed to cope with low light. I think it's fixed aperture so all it has to work with is shutter speed (and therefore fps) and sensitivity...
@NixC
That could well be the case. However, the amount by which frame rates seem to vary between ROMs and codecs suggests that there might still room for improvement beneath the limiting factor of the optics.

[Q] 1080p Video Recording?

I know this ships with 720P, but is it possible for a software mod to bring it up to a full 1080p since theres an 8 MP Camera? Im only half thinking this idea, but had no idea if its possible or not. Thoughts?

****ty slow motion of ZenFone 2

The slow motion video of ZenFone 2 ze551ml sucks.....its just 30fps video which runs at 6fps so as to give it a feel of slow motion which is badly sucks at it......it is a toshiba t4k37 which is capable of 720p @60fps & 180p @60fps & [email protected]
Proper development should unlock its capablities....plz take a look at this
I agree a real slow motion would be great
Who will help us??
hahaha did u remember what asus said "see what others %@&#&#& fuc* that get xiaomi mi4i install ****in snapdragon camera in fact its cheaper than so called zenfone 2

Xiaomi's slow motion isn't that good either. I own a mi3w which costs more than the ZenFone 2. To be honest this device is just as good if not better than Xiaomi. I honestly don't think I'll ever buy another Xiaomi again as they have a lot of cons. They just make the phone look good in specs everything else in the phone is just crap at best.
1+2 had some nice slow motion.

Dude my zenfone2 4gb 64 nearly costs 400$.....mi3 is heavily cheaper like 200$
But the main concern is that it really sucks at slow mutton

Dude my ZenFone 2 64gb 4g ram was $269 (with free shipping) with a free ASUS 10050 mah battery bank and my mi3w cost me $289 (plus $20 shipping). If you found a mi3w for around $200 it's probably a fake with the mediatek chipset.
Don't get me wrong the Xiaomi is a great phone if you never want to hear a call in your pocket, wake up to alarm, have cell phone signal inside buildings or want to be able to lock onto GPS satellites then yeah it's a great device. It also has a poorly designed charging port that ruins your cables (ruined 3 cables already) and eventually craps out. I'm currently awaiting a new charging port to arrive from China after just 1 year of use.

By the way, the way our device does slow motion is basically the same as movies do slow motion. For example: in theaters movies play at 24fps. To achieve a slow motion scene they use a high speed camera capable of shooting up to a hundred thousand fps. So say they shot a scene at 2400fps and played it at 24fps you have slow motion. Beings our camera can't shoot hundreds of fps they shoot at the highest fps the software is capable of and lower the playback fps (30 to 6). I agree it would look a little better doing 60fps record and 12fps playback but your never going to achieve movie quality slow motion on any phone ever. Cameras like that cost thousands of dollars.

My Samsung Galaxy S4 was capable of good slow motion, i'm sure that was software based too.

maybe asus lock the camera capability ?
Oneplus one has 120fps
Anyone please help mee
I know it's late but... I can't hold it! I love how Asus puts great hardware in their phones and then ruins everything with poorly-made software that does not exploit its hardware capabilities at a maximum level. It's not only the RAW capability that's missing, but also the slow motion recording, which is a total joke! It's just a slowed-down 30 fps video. WHY ON EARTH did they do that? To keep the humongous 1080p format? I don't care if it's a 480p video as long as it's PROPERLY slowed down. (They need to reduce the format in order to increase the frame rate, to keep hardware parameters and things safe.) Just do your goddamn job and respect the hardware capabilities that YOU opted for, Asus!
Maybe they don't have a legal obligation to make hardware components available at a max level, but they definitely have a moral obligation out of respect for the customer. Even Samsung SGH-I900 (Omnia) shoots better slow motion videos, no matter if the resolution's crap! Pity, 'cause these are amazing devices that could shoot some pretty decent (even pro quality) photography or videos! The ZX551ML is a supposed "camera phone" - it shoots great pictures, but it could have been much better.
I also love how nobody knows what camera model is in the Zenfone Zoom's rear. For instance, we all know that the front camera in both models, the ZE551ML and ZX551ML, is Omnivision's OV5670, while the Zenfone 2 has a Toshiba T4K37 rear sensor. In Zenfone Zoom (ZX551ML), the hardware-information-gathering apps only show "Fujitsu MO10M" as the camera make and model, which is the image processing engine actually, not the sensor. And as to the front camera, according to Omnivision's official papers, that little bugger is capable of shooting 60 fps 1080p VIDEOS! It is also capable of shooting 120 frames per second at a 480p resolution. I see none of these things possible in Asus' implementation or default camera app... the famous PixelMaster. I don't know who is responsible for all these things but I think I'd make "great friends" with the software engineer who made this s**t.
Anything new on this? Did you find a way to unlock the real capabilities of your device? Thank you!

960 fps and 4k 60 fps?

Just saw a video posted by "pocketnow" on LG G7 camera review. At 4:57 mark, he said there were new addition(960 fps slow mo, 4k 60fps) from OTA updates since his original phone review 2 months ago. Is it true cuz i cant find it on web.
Video link- Hmm, seems i need 10 posts. Better PM me if u cant find on YT, or just search on YT and you'll have it.
Saw the video and yeah I can confirm that the phone can shoot 4k at 60 fps with the new OTA update but I just tried recording a slow motion video and it's just at 240 fps and I can't seem to find the 960 fps option.
You mean the video of Jaime Rivera? He doesn't know what he is talking about, the g7 doesn't have 960fps at 720p, just tested and it's 240fps.
I don't even have the 4k 60fps option.

That's because your phone is not on the last Ota update
The reason that the phone can't shoot in 960fps is because there's no dedicated chip for it. For example Samsung uses dedicated fast storage chip to store the footage of the video and then transfer it to the main storage. LG doesn't have that chip plus the sensor only officially supports 240fps 720p but I noticed that it also supports 1080p 240fps .
Why we don't have that option is a mystery.

Anyone else think that [email protected] is disappointing.. Lots of jello and inaccurate focusing. [email protected] send a more consistent option, tried to upload to you tube with 60 and it looked awful!

Personally I prefer 4k 60fps. From what I recorded it seems stable and I have no problems with it.
Edit: here's a link of what the camera module is capable of: https://www.google.bg/url?sa=t&sour...FjAAegQIAxAB&usg=AOvVaw3vRFp9OMzb9J76fPbULXws

is there any method to force 60 frames per second for the video camera?

as the title States, I'm wondering if there's any method to achieve 60 frames per second for video capture on the rear camera, particularly in a way that doesn't utilize the lesser quality slow motion capturing method. I understand that it could simply be a hardware limitation, but it seems odd that a relatively modern flagship device isn't capable of 60 frames per second. I believe other devices using the same sensor are capable of 60fps, and I can't imagine the Snapdragon 835 isn't capable of this either.
Anyway if it's impossible that's fine, I just figured this would be the place to ask. Thanks in advance to anyone that can point me in the right direction here!
If it's relevant, I'm rooted and on lineage OS.
