Because I'm brave and they're giving me the Invisible Shield and a 50 dollar credit, I'm sending my GT-P7510 to Zagg to have them design an InvisibleShield product for it. It should go to them tomorrow and they said it takes them 24hrs to do the measurements and send the product back.
So Zagg may be the first ones that actually get a specifically designed Screen and full body sheild out for the thin GT10 model.
I'll keep everyone posted with what they tell me.
Wow thanks for doing this
I agree with kentoe, thanks a lot!
Hopefully accessory makers will start to notice the 10.1 over the next few weeks
Awesome. Surprised they hadnt requested the measurements directly from Samsung though. Although, being able to test skins on an actual device will be helpful.
They shouldve sent someone to I/O lol
I got the GT-P7510 back this morning. Zagg did a good job with it. It doesnt cover the silver bezel except on the top edge of the device. They also cut out holes for the camera and light sensor on front and back.
Im guessing it will hit the Zagg website here pretty soon.

Well, I've had it on my device for a week or more at this point. I honestly don't like the way the material feels at all. I've normally avoided the Zagg branded products in the past instead ordering from Bestskinsever.com. Because they were cheaper mostly.
It feels like the Zagg material is far too tacky and textured. Im hoping it hardens a little with time and smooths out. And for being "self healing" it didn't make it through the first trip in my computer brief on a plane without a very noticeable pinhead sized gash. It definitely hasn't healed yet. It also collects finger prints easily and they don't come off quickly at all.
They gave me a $100 in free gift cards which i proceeded to order covers for about every random gadget I own. Maybe they feel better than what the GT10 is covered in.
From a protection standpoint it seems to be doing its job though. I suppose that's the foremost reason any of us order the protectors. As for the release, I have no idea. Send them an email, they seem pretty good about replies.

Tab 10.1 invisibleSHIELD now available
When I checked earlier this week, I couldn't find an invisibleSHIELD for the Tab on Zagg's site except the one that appeared to be for the 7 inch, so I emailed them. Lo and behold, I received a reply today, and the shield for the 10.1 is now on the site!
(and, I can't post the link because I'm new.)
I've had an invisibleSHIELD on my iPod touch (3rd gen) since about a week after I got it. Yes, the feel is closer to "tacky" rather than the slick glass-only feel of the bare iPod, and I imagine it will be the same on the Tab. I actually prefer this - I kept being afraid I would drop my iPod.
I haven't had a problem cleaning it. Rubbing firmly on my pants leg is usually enough to clear the fingerprint buildup, and when the surface starts feeling icky I use a very, very slightly damp paper towel to clean it. Honestly, before I got the Shield, I didn't like the feel of the screen, but I have oily skin, so I leave lots of fingerprints behind. I also have not had a problem with the shield being damaged, beyond my deliberate efforts (see below).
So I don't sound like a commercial for Zagg... Be aware that the shield material doesn't handle rounded corners well. I had to trim the corners on my iPod's shield where they had pulled away and picked up pocket lint. Looks like they're avoiding that issue on the Tab's skin by not covering the edge. The shield also reduced the sensitivity of the touch screen - only slightly, but noticeably.
This is the link.

Anyone order one of these and have it shipped yet? I placed an order on June 15 but the order hasn't even processed yet and I'm still waiting for them to get back to my email.
Is this the same type as the one at BestBuy?

$30 for 10cents worth of plastic for just the front ($40 for front and back). They're nuts. Bodyguardz is $20, Kinomi is $16 and there is some cheap junk on eBay for $5. I'll either wait for a 50% off Zagg coupon or wrap it in saran wrap!
I bought one of these on release day. By 9pm that night I had already torn it off... felt like a 2 inch thick sheet of rubber tbh.
I've used Zagg in the past and it works, but for devices with gorilla glass like the 10.1 it's not necesary.
The back I think is the part that needs the protection.
I have a Zagg shield on my phone (Samsung Fascinate) and I love it. But I don't think I'm going to put one on my Tab. For starters, I think phones and other smaller devices (iPods, etc.) are much more prone to drops and other things that could cause scratches. And I've ordered the Samsung book cover case for my Tab, so that should protect the back and the screen reasonably well.

I ordered it from Best Buy For Business...mostly because I had a $20 Best Buy gift card and nothing else to use it on. So it only cost me $35.

But I haven't heard anything about shipping yet so not sure when I'll get it.
Any good recommendations? I'm not a big fan of magnet on cases and seems most reasonably priced (<$30) folio style cases have magnet strip.

Can't post link as of yet, but go to Amazon and type in "Acase Samsung 10.1 case". Its full name is "Acase Samsung GALAXY Tab 10.1 High Quality Premium Slim Leather Case Folio"
This is the case I ordered. It's got good customer reviews. It's non magnet and around the price point you mentioned.

Great looking case btw.. Never even thought to check Amazon.

Roocase Ultra Slim
Got this instead from pcmicrostore.com. Amazon cells it too but pcmicro has 20% off tablet accessory code 20OFFTABLET so turned out to be cheaper. Also got a screen protector there. I prefer that case over Acase for a little more protection. Also it's genuine leather. $26 shipped.
Thanks for the heads up on the coupon code. I had been on the fence on a case and this sealed the deal for me. You just saved me $8. Thanks!

I got one of these and sent it back. Aside from the horrible smell of the material they use to make it the stand function was very limited and you have to unsnap the bottom clips that hold the tab to the case to fold it back to stand it up. Eventually that will probably scratch the paint off the corners of the tab. It did fit well.
I have the Acase and the bottom things aren't even clips. More like rests and it will not rub the paint off. The tab is held by only the top four clips. The only problem with this case is lack of a hole for the charger when closed. My case did not have smell and if it did I think a lil spray of febreeze or your favorite cologne could take care of that. Also the case has 4 angles to choose from so I don't think that the stand is limited.
I posted a review and pics of the case in the big cases thread going.

Agreed. I just received my case and there's no foul odor. It smells like what leather is supposed to smell (even which you'd have to literally put your nose up to the case to get any smell).
The case fits perfectly and the material is very nice. The only minor grip I have is that the lowest angle is a little too steep for a comfortable typing. It does work well on a table, but not so well lying down in bed. The ipad 2 version of the exact same case has a bend in the front side which allows an angle for more comfortable typing. I don't know why Acase got rid of that position for this version, but I'm sure they have their reasons.

Mine smelled like a dead meat. The whole room where I opened it smelled. My wife thought the cat died. If that's what leather is supposed to smell like I'm gonna sell my truck, couch and the cow grazing in my garage. Obviously I got a bad one. It also felt more like vinyl than fine corinthian leather.
As for the bottom clips (or whatever they were) folding back a third of the case to stand it up wasn't my idea of good design.
You are of course entitled to your opinion. My opinion is the "official" Samsung case, for the few bucks extra, is much better designed, better fitted and less odoriferous.
Still can't charge with the case closed on the official case. The official case has fewer resting positions and the little flap that holds it in place is prone to fall out in the upright position. Because Samsung wanted the case to be thin, they sacrificed good padding around the tab.
I find it hard to believe your case smelt like "a dead meat". I got the Acase for $20 shipped so the Samsung is a lil' more than a few bucks more.

Well, after spending $600 on the tablet, I guess $22 more seemed to me as "just a little." As far as how my case "smelt" I'm not concerned whether you believe it or not. Since Amazon got it back it's now their concern.
Since a fair few of you will now have one of these, I was just looking to get some thoughts and opinions on one please?
Also I know it can stand vertical with this case on, but can it stand landscape?

Yeah, it's a great little case. I bought the black one, and i'm looking at getting a blue one next. Really cheap for official ones from Trusted Sellers on ebay (roughly £7 without original packaging, £10 with)
the only downside is it lets dust through the little holes, so you get a neat little dust pattern on the back side of your phone - a regular removal and wipe on your trousers helps.
I've had one on it for about 2 weeks and I like it, only drawback is I had to shave down by USB connector plastic to get it to fit while the case is still on. I ordered another from dealextreme because it was really cheap. I notice the case just touches the mic area but doesnt cover it up. I like it because it's not very bulky and the plastic 'mesh' back fits over a soft case and makes it rigid and easy to hold.
Good luck for u
Got a generic cheap mesh case from eBay, its pretty awesome but as mentioned above, gets a bit dirty after some long time, and mine is cheap enough to start breaking on corners, had a few falls tho, and that's the purpose of a case, so the phone doesn't break instead
I had this case, it was okay at the start but in the end the plastic on the top corner started breaking away. Also the one and only time I dropped my phone with this case on I got a nasty scratch just above the screen where there was no protection. I had to ditch it. I'm using a plain black tpu case now, much more protection. The advantage of the mesh case is that its so slim.
Edit : Oh yea and its a dust magnet.
Got the original mesh case, I dropped it twice since I got it. First time no damage at all, protected the phone nicely. Second time the phone popped out of the case as it hit the floor (shoulder hight, had a nice spin to it also) but both the case and the phone didn't suffer any damage. So I guess it serves it's purpose and looks nice as well.
Aesthetically nice.
Crap if you want proper protection.
I bought it merely to protect the camera and back when I put the phone down to prevent scratching. For overall phone protection it's definitely going to be lacking as the top and bottom edges of the phone aren't covered. The case clips on easily but stays on fairly tightly. The rubbery material gives better grip when holding the phone. Dust does get in over a week or so over the back of the phone, though isn't noticeable with the case on, and can easily be wiped off. I think the case looks pretty nice, all key areas are fully accessible and for the price of about £8 was worth it.
is not compatible for i9100P
I've just buy the genuine Samsung mesh vent case for my Samsung Galaxy S2 win NFC (i9100P) but it is NOT compatible. My colleague on the i9100, not NFC, perfect fit.
Some ideas?
Light, strong and keeps the thinness we all love about our S2s!
Dropped mine a couple of times on to wooden floors and no damage yet
Protects the camera lens too when lying on a flat surface
The dust comments are true but only noticeable when u take the cover off so no big deal and it fits so snugly it kinda looks part of the phone!
To answer original question tho, no only stands in portrait
I got an official Samsung one given with mine. Good at protecting from scuffs when it's on a table or desk but wouldn't like to trust it with protecting my phone from a fall.
That's why it's sat unused in a cupboard at work! If anyone wants it just message me and I'll stick in the post.

No protection for the bottom part of the tablet. Closing the case does not ensure the screen is actually protected as the part the screen is covered with can slide off of it. Dumped it quickly.

I do agree with some of the comments above however it is my case of choice. I sold a quality noreve leather case and stuck with the original Samsung book cover case as my daily driver with a solution to full protection using another protective case along with it.

You compromise portability by using two of those together. Check the one that was made by Samsung for Galaxy Tab 10.1 with a flap over the bottom part of the device and see how you could avoid using two cases instead of one.
Thank you for your feedback! Where do you get the fancy pen? I really like the thin form of the case. Can see it really well in your pictures.

Yes indeed it was a compromise however the weight of the two together was roughly the same as the leather case I had so for me did not matter. This setup gives me reassuarnce that even after a hard drop, the tablet should be safe whilst transporting as it is whilst on the move, that I am more likely to drop it. Once it it is in the office or at home, it is kept on the desk or on my bed without much risk of dropping and then I have the lightest and practical cover for my specific needs.
I have also purchased another bag that has a secure slot for any 10" tablet with padding around it and is used when I need to carry more than just my tablet with me and similarly when I take the tablet out, it is usually at a desk, this also eliminates the need for me to carry the second housing.
At the time of me buying my case, the one with the securing flap was not available otherwise I probably would have purchased that one instead. Having said that, I still probably would have bought a secondary case for transporting as the Samsung ones are too thin for real protection but are the most practical in my opinion.
The moral here is, if you are considering buying one of these thin cases, it is advisable to consider a second protective case or buy a fully protective leather / pu case that is adequately padded with the downside of it making the tablet feel a lot heavier.

I currently have the White GALAXY Note 10.1, and I had a faux leather case (generic) from Amazon, and gave it about 2 months of use.
After that I decided to risk my money and bet on the official book cover (in white, as well).
I must say it is extremely durable and gorgeous. It has, somehow, a corporate look, it's extremely thin and the back is well protected.
The cover, on the insides, has a thin and soft veil-like texture, and it sort of acts as a screen cleaner, each time you lift up the front part of the cover. (only applies to naked screen).
All in all, it's durable, I have the white for 2 months now and it's still the same pristine white as it was when it came in the box.
It's resistant and the writing position just works (no Steve Jobs quote intended).
If you have doubts, well, I recommend it!
official Samsung case is good looking, nice design, ****y quality and protection - mine is getting bubless by time on margins - squeezing it does remove them but wtf?! I recommend looking for something else !
I have been using the case for abouta week. I also havea screen protector on the tablet.
pros:
Very light weight
Feels good
Offers several viewing angles, when it works. See cons
Cons:
Magnets are not very strong and don't always hold it in the more up upright position.
Does not positively close, so it can expose your screen in a bag or back pack..
That said, I've been trying other solutions and none seem quite right. I have a gel case thatI bought to bulk up the tab to fit in a cheap cardboard folio usb keyboard case I have left over from another tablet. Although not very elegant, I thinkI will use it for travel as I can use the keyboard on airplanes, it provides extra protection, andI can remove three tablet with the gel case for just walking around. Just need a sturdy OTG and this set up is still less expensive than the official Samsung cover, unless you snag one of the 34.00$ deals from Amazon.
I've also tried the BT keyboard cover. Someone just needs to make one, who had actually useda tablet. Put the same clips in both sides so you don't have one that interferes with the space bar, make the shift and cap keys smaller so the keys can geta bit bigger and fall under you fingers, providea deeper trough so the tab is steadier and the back rest can be redesigned to help with that. I'm sure ZAGG will figure it out.
Finally because of the cons of the Samsung, I am thinking of ordering one of the knock offs that has the flap that closes on the back like the one for the tab10. I think I've seen it where the while thing, flap included, rolls like the iPad cover.
Finally, Samsung needs to work out the magnet thing, offer a smart cover, which should at least be possible with the phone variants.
I guess the simple answer to you question is mixed feelings about the official cover.

I ordered two knockoffs for wife and I. When it gets in from China, official covers go back to Best Buy. They offer virtually no protection and are so not worth the $50 each I paid for two.
I have a question to book cover owners: is it possible to rest your wrist on the tablet while taking notes when book cover is in the position like on the attached screen shot? Or your hand is to heavy and you and the magnet will slip of the back?
I would say that that position is ideal for typing and not the best position for resting the palm on especially if you are heavy handed as it's not really designed for taking heavy loads.

I can confirm that yes when the case is folded the back camera is covered. In order to take a picture with back camera you would need to hold up the flap while pushing the on screen capture. Not as difficult as it sounds but you look stupid doing it. I mean if your taking pictures in public with your tablet you look like a tool already so it shouldn't bother you to much. Ill get a picture on here soon.

How do they interfere with the spen?
I got one from eBay, a knock off but is identical to the overpriced Samsung one (probably made in the same factory as the "official" one) for 11 quid. The official one I got from amazon, paid 29 quid for it. But that was a while back. Maybe it depends which ebay seller you use?
Looking at them now, I use a different cover btw, I can't tell which is which lol.
There is a white one listed on Amazon for $36.82, sold by Amazon but listed as used:
Samsung Electronics Book Cover for Galaxy Note 10.1-Inch, White (EFC-1G2NWECXAR)
If I didn't already have mine I'd probably buy it. Just FYI.

This would only be the case for cases that put a magnetic closure to jump on board with the them of iPad cases. I have never had on, so this is just here-say i saw in another XDA thread. Maybe another cause would be a knock-off case that was too tight, and pressured the tablet too much. Honestly i have nothing to speak from, as far a personal experience with these case issues. I am using a Blason brand black case that i got off of amazon for around $15. Only complaint, is that the edge flap the secures to top of the tablet to close the case, has gotten a bendy crease in it, that is only a minor inconvenience sometimes.
I have just received my Samsung Galaxy Note 10'1 case from amazon.co.uk, it was through the UK site but was a german company so took over a week to arrive but only £31.37, the company web site is www.avides.com, I am delighted with the case, I had a pleather one bought for about £15, this one washes it away, you can access the whole screen, there is a special slot for head phone jack so you don't have to removes to flip cover upward and you have easy access to pen. Jim
My fiancée got me a leather case that is actually for the Tab 2, so I tried cutting out a hole for my S-pen, this however, made the corner very weak and unable to hold that corner of the tablet in place.
It is still usable, but I'm looking for a lightweight case, similar to the official ipad cases with the magnetic screen cover. Where can I get something like this, cheap?

I purchased a gray one a month ago or so and it did not look like it was opened.
.
I can confirm that the knockoff I bought does interfere with the S-Pen. There are 6 circular magnets that run across about 2/3 down from the top. When I write in this area the sensitivity and accuracy are messed up but for some reason it's worse at the right side. Problem goes away as soon as I remove the case. I got mine from ebay.

I can confirm that the knockoff I bought does interfere with the S-Pen. There are 6 circular magnets that run across about 2/3 down from the top. I bought the official one from newegg and it also interferes with the screen at times. I write on this thing ALOT, at least 5 hours a day, so I notice it for sure. Every now and then it will take more pressure to write on top of the magnets. If i take the case off and put it back on everything is fine. I find myself taking the case off and on alot.
