Hi,
Yesterday, I accidentally dropped my phone to the sink and it got wet a little bit. I immediately turned it off, took out the battery and wipe the water off. I let it dry overnight. I turned on this morning and it seems to be functioning properly except for the USB port. My computer can’t detect my phone anymore.
I’m planning to return my phone to the store but it is currently rooted and I can’t flash it using ODIN. Kindly give me a link where I can get a CWM flashable stock Telus ROM. Or is there any other way I can flash it to stock?
I hope someone can help me. Thank you.

Try dialing *#2767*3855# into your phone keypad it should factory restore it for you or click on the link to download stock rom flash zip.http://www.mrwodtke.com/android/t989_guide/SGH-T989D_TLS_T989DTLKJ3.rar This will get you back to stock and stock recovery too.
Thanks richardlibeau. Can I flash that ROM through CWM?
Open up the zip and have a look at it. If your zip only contains a tar.md5 file it's Odin flashable. You might be able to use Mobile Odin but I never have so can't attest to its successful use. If it's not a tar.md5 and it's actually got a META-INF folder, System folder etc, it's flashable via recovery.
if you're still doubting, post info on what you're seeing inside the zip.
Or - just drop the phone and bugger it up worse. Maybe you can get a warranty replacement! (no actually don't do this.)

Got my JB update today, I was rooted stock before, and the install went fine without any problems.
After the update, my Quadrant score went down dramatically, from 4500 (stock rooted ICS) to 3700 JB.
So I did a factory reset and all hell breaks loose. I dont seem to have 4G anymore, although the 4G signs is showing on the top. Play store, Maps, Navigations, etc wont load (maybe since I dont internet it wont load?). After noticing all these problems, I did another factory reset.
And now I cant even sign in to Google.
Seriously, I never thought an OTA upgrade would mess up my phone.
Can anyone shine a light my way?
Thanks.
I had a similar problem with the OTA LH2 on a rooted stock ICS , I couldn't connect WIFI, a lot of apps weren't working properly. After 4-5 factory resets, still no go. My only option was to use ODIN and reinstall the complete firmware that way, and all was back to normal. Im pretty sure this happened because of OTA over a rooted device. Worth a try I think.. Good luck.
Odin the update like above then enter recovery and wipe again, sucks you got a messed up download.

Unzip the odin file, turn the device off, holding volume down, home button and then the power button, the phone should go into download mode, start odin up, connect the phone via usb, hit the pda option, then browse to the file you downloaded and unzipped, the md5 file should be the only file showing up, select it and hit start.
Phone will auto restart upon completion.

Ok, I downloaded the *.7z file, extracted, flash it through ODIN and get my wifi to work, and my 4g to work for a brief moment.
Then my 4g stopped working again, and i notice that when i go to Status option in the setting, my device is listed as Modified, whereas for a few minutes after i flashed, it was listed as Normal.
When my device was listed as Normal, my 4g would work, then it switched itself to Modified and it seems that Samsung or Tmo locked my device.
Ugh, I am so bummed!
Modified ststus is jusy becsuse your rooted. It goes away if you revert.

I am on stock ICS (Android version 4.0.4)
My baseband version is T999UVLEM
I rooted my phone when I got it at launch, and then put off all the incremental updates until official JB was released for Tmobile. Now that it's released, I'd like to update to. What is the proper way for me to do this? Flash through odin I assume? Will I still be able to keep my root or root the device after JB is installed?
Thanks in advance, I just don't want a nightmare situation like the OP if I flash incorrectly

Thanks for that, it pretty much covers all of my questions.
One that I'm still wondering about though, is can I go straight from rooted UVALEM to the latest JB firmware? Or do I flash back to stock UVALEM and THEN flash JB? Or do I need to flash each incremental update before finally finishing off with JB?

Or they can use the regular firmware file, flash it via mobile odin which roots it for ya, without the hassle and is much faster, I used it so I can say clearly it did an excellent job.
Note: if hotfile is too slow and there are no alternatives, I can upload the full firmware odin file to dev-host for everyone.

I always use mobile odin pro. My favorite app! But not everyone wants to pay for it and the free version doesnt have EverRoot.
I usually recommend it, but too many people were updating today so I wanted to stick with what everyone should be willing to do!
Ive already got the stock fw hosted from my account if that helps.
Was one of the first things I did after release. Check the firmware thread in my sig for that Plus more!

It turns out there was a 4g blackout around my area last night. But I did odin'ed your root66 TMO JB version and it's awesome! I was wondering if you're gonna make the same version with UMS included?
Thanks!
I have a T989 model on Korea.
But T989 stock rom have too many bloatware and too many customized.
(I prefer STOCK ROM more than custom rom)
I was falshed T989D Telus or Koodo rom using Odin.
But always fail during modem.bin
So i think T989 and T989D partition table is different.
PIT file have this partition information and i think T989 and T989D hardware is 100% will be same.
Who have T989D ICS PIT file? If you have it, could you share with it?
Thank you.

I followed your mention and re-download binary, its same symptoms as before. (T989D binary burn to my T989 device)
Still stuck during amss.bin
So, it means T989 and T989D model partition is different.
I theink I need a T989D PIT file.
Thanks for your kindly reply.
Hmmm that's not the Odin version I gave to you...it should say epic 4g at the top instead of android + slp. Download and unzip this and give it one more shot. If not then idk how to help you sorry.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-T989 using xda app-developers app
I believe the issue your having is due to trying to flash a T989D stock ROM on a T989 with ODIN.
Your flash is failing on the modem which makes sense. The T989D and the T989 use different modems and thus the reason your failing on the modem.
You do not need a .PIT file. Odin gets the partition mapping from your devive when a .PIT file is not used. Therefore the partition mapping is correct.
With Odin
-Flash the stock package for a T989
-Flash the recovery of your choice (CWM or TWRP)
From Recovery
-Flash the modem of your choice
-Flash the stock Telus or Koodo ROM
(Optional)
Flash the applicable stock Kernel and stock recovery from Odin if for some reason you dont want to keep CWM or TWRP installed.
Hope that helps!

I have to agree that this is NOT a partition table issue. I have a SGH-T989D and have flashed a SGH-T989 ROM and Kernel to it with no issues and even followed a rooting guide for the SGH-T989 to root my phone (mind you used the SGH-T989D files). I would suggest using ODIN to get the recovery on your phone (if you haven't already) then use the recovery to flash the custom ROM/Kernel/etc as suggested by other members of this forum.
My advice is to check out the developers section for both the SGS2 toolkit (helps with rooting) and for the ROM\Kernel\Radio you wish to use. And ALWAYS make sure you are using the appropriate ODIN version (the EXE version) as different versions may not be 100% compatible with different phones (newer versions SHOULD be compatible with older phones, but I still try to stick to the recommended and/or tested versions).

Here is a step by step guide:
Easy and sure way to root your phone - Here is s step by step guide:
After you have followed these instructions your phone will be in the same condition
as it was the day you have purchased it except with the benefit of being rooted.
Download the stock-rooted Samsung Galaxy S3 Jellybean v4.1.1 T999 firmware: http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=9390169635556426451
After downloading make a folder on your computer's desktop and unzip the
file using Winzip or 7zip so the .TAR file is in the new folder you just made.
Download and extract Odin into the same folder you made containing the TAR file
Here is the link for Odin: http://d-h.st/Q14
Download ODIN which is required for flashing the stock rooted firmware (a windows app)
Download the Odin Flash firmware for T999 Tmobile then copy it to the same folder as Odin
Run Odin by double clicking the Odin.exe within the same folder as the TAR file you extracted
Turn off your phone and boot into DOWNLOAD MODE (Volume Down + Home + Power Hold until phone powers up, then release and press Volume Up to enter Download Mode)
Once in Download Mode, connect the USB/Charger cable to the phone and plug into the USB port on your computer.
You should now see a COM** port listed toward the top-left of Odin (under ID:COM)
Click on the PDA button in the middle-right area of Odin.
Browse to and select the Firmware you downloaded (TAR file)
Make sure Auto-Reboot and F. Reset Time are the only options checked and that PDA is the only other thing checked.
TRIPLE CHECK your settings and that you have selected the correct firmware for your model phone and are using the correct options.
If you are using a laptop, make absolutely sure you are plugged in, or if on battery, that it is charged enough and will not go into sleep mode during flash.
Click Start to begin the flash. This will take a while, so be patient!
Once complete, in the top-left box in Odin, it will say PASS and the phone should have automatically rebooted.
You may unplug the phone and close Odin if you wish.
Wait at least 5-10 minutes for the system to boot the first time and then build its cache!
(It may seem to take a long time on first boot, this is normal so you must be very patient!!!)
Good Luck!

The reason is that Jody (the developer) removed the new RADIO/MODEM image
from the rom so everyone including those people who have AT&T Unlocked phones
can use the rom.
If you want the original baseband/modem/radio cwm/twrp flashable zipfile here
is the UVDMD5 Radio/Baseband Download Link - http://db.tt/RgrCGufl
Only flash this if you have a Samsung Galaxy S3 T999 device and you have Tmobile service.
You can root same way as all prevouse stock ROMs. Install custom recovery with Odin and then flash superuser in recovery.

That's one of the main reasons I always suggest NOT to odin flash the stock T999 4.1.2 tar rom
but instead flash the cwm/twrp T999 pre-rooted deoxidized 4.1.2 rom which Jody setup for us.
People should have been warned about what you said before they allowed the OTA update to
upgrade their phones unless they don't want root access and want their phone to be pure stock.

Its all been covered pretty thoroughly, and all folks need to do is read! I know its asking an awful lot for some.
I haven't looked at jovys but there are two files that cause the recovery rewrite, and if he didnt remove them his rom will do the same.
If I remember right they are:
Install-recovery.sh
Recovery-on-boot.p
The second is wrong im pretty sure, but its something similar. Check my firmware thread and it should be there.
Hope that helps.

Still need to Odin stock to get the updated bootloader/rpm/tz. Unless you want to flash them yourself. That's why everyone suggests root66.

I was just looking in your "Firmware/OTAs T999(V) Official, Leaked & Root66 FW & OTA Updates" thread
and downloaded the "root66_TMO_T999UVDMD5.7z" which is the pre-rooted Odin flash 4.1.2 firmware.
The reason I downloaded it is that I just want to have a odin flash rooted backup of 4.1.2 in case I need it in the future.
I wanted to ask if this firmware includes the modem/radio in the TAR file?
If it does, what is the filename of the modem/radio file? (I need to remove it).
My phone is an Unlocked AT&T I747 Galaxy S3 which I am using with Tmobile service and
I do not want to flash the modem/radio since it will not work with my phone.
Thanks.

Modem is NON-HLOS.bin. Can't remove it, because the md5 check will fail.
Maybe ask mrrobinson if he can give you any pointers on how to remove it correctly. The steps he uses to create root66 would likely work to remove the modem as well.
Do you have the same partition layout as us? If not, dont use any of the firmware. If so you can always flash it and then flash your correct radio after.

What if I remove the .MD5 from the filename ?
I don't think that Odin requires the .MD5 extension, I know I have Odin flashed
roms a while back which did not have an MD5.

I am sure I have the same partition layout, I am using the cwm/twrp flashable zipfile of the pre-rooted UVDMD5 T999 4.1.2 rom.
Before I got the Unlocked AT&T Galaxy S3 I had the galaxy S2 which I used with AT&T network and flashed the
root66 Odin flash roms before and had no problems, but since I am with Tmobile now I need to remove the radio file.
Since I am with Tmobile now, I never odin flashed roms due to the fact that they all contain the radio file.
Mobile Odin will flash without the md5 extension. Cant remember for sure with pc odin. I may try it later tonight to see for sure. You can also deselect the modem when flashing via M.O. in case you didnt know, though
I am also pretty sure you have the same layout as the t999. I appreciate you taking the time to do it in a way that is safe and wont brick!
I do think you would be ok to flash the full fw though, just make sure you have a copy of the correct modem and flash it right after.
Ill let you know for sure about the md5 after I get home and try it out.

Thanks, I just wanted to save a few steps and not have to flash the AT&T stock modem if I don't have to.

Ill get on everything by early afternoon for sure.

you'll need to change the 7z to tar gz and use heimdall, Frankly why not just flash existing roms in development sections with the new boot loader and modem if youre just looking to check it out?
try a search first. just posting and in doing it wrong place rubs some up the wrong way
I did install it finally It's very fast smooth and beautiful but i found one bug... it doesn't let me set up my data access point so im.not getting internet and no mms this is sucks

If you actually did some reading you would have known that you needed to also flash the new modem for data.

I flashed same rom. you need to also flash modem as well for 4g/mms
My ONLY problem left is no stock MAIL icon. I'm not sure if this was taken out on purpose. I prefer to use the original mail app.
SuperSU was also broken but they have a fix. let me know if you have of those problems too.

It says on page: YOU MUST FLASH THE I747UCUEMJ2 MODEM FOR AT&T GALAXY S III IN ORDER FOR DATA TO WORK; OTHERWISE YOU WILL NOT HAVE DATA
I am not allowed to post links yet so here is the text version with some spaces
Link to modem file = androidfilehost.com /?fid= 23196940996968656
They have link on page as well. You flash that file, same way you flash ROM. It will update modem firmware to work with 4.3
Let me know if you have the native MAIL app. I don't see it after I flashed 4.3[/B]

check out galaxy s3 root .com
you would copy a superuser.zip file to your internal phone card
You would use odin to flash a ClockworkMod Recovery file to your phone (if you don't have it)
Next you would use push the correct buttons on phone to enter ClockWork Recovery mode
Once in ClockWork you would select superuser.zip on phone to install it. All instructions are on the website I mentioned earlier
Can you tell me what exact ROM you downloaded and where you got it from / who made it?
