you could try and make a goldcard and flash a generic rom, apart from that there is not much you can do, you cant root the 1.75 roms yet
ok then how do i go with the goldcard thing? btw what is a goldcard exactly ?
use search pls..there are many threads about that in the Developement Thread.
btw, mine is also tmobile branded. there are some apps ok, and the startscreen..who cares
i wouldnt install an official rom..warranty is gone and fota doesnt work as easy as now. (yeah you can flash back the stock one...)
just my 2 cents

Man tmobile makes the phone run a bit slow ( talking about fastboot).. takes 2.5 sec on official rom,, takes a minute on branded rom.

I'm in the same position as Leather|Face. I know almost nothing about rooting/flashing a phone or gold cards. I also have a DHD with T-Mobile UK but want to get rid of all the branded stuff (especially the boot screen which makes booting the device take around a minute !!).
I have tried searching these forums for a solution but due to the fact I don't exactly know what I'm looking for it is quite difficult. I see a lot of "ROMs" on here for download, I don't know which one I need or if I need one at all, nor do I know how to install them. There seems to be a LOT of help guides for this kind of thing for the HTC Desire, but not the HTC Desire HD - probably because it's a lot newer, or not? This is the way I understand the process, please correct me if I'm wrong and point me in the right direction to complete these tasks;
1. First step would be to "root" my phone, which I believe gives me admin/superuser priveleges, and that's all it does right? I don't know how to do this.
2. Next I need to find the correct ROM, which would be the stock ROM for HTC Desire HD (don't know where to find this either, tried searching). Does this ROM include the unbranded version of HTC Sense UI etc, or am I on the wrong tracks?
3. Install the stock ROM, which I believe is more commonly referred to as "Flashing a ROM", is this correct? I don't know how to do this either.
As you can see from above, I have limited understanding of the process, and what I think I understand may be completely incorrect anyway! I want to find a guide to get back the stock DHD Android/Sense UI, ideally with explanations for a newbie telling me WHY I am doing specific tasks and how they affect my phone etc.
I'll be thankful for any help

1. No, first step if you *really* want to do this is to look at how you downgrade from 1.7x to 1.32 (I think, check elsewhere).
2. HTC ROMs, the stock version, are just that. Networks add their stuff to customise it and that's what you're stuck with right now. I don't know which you'll need unfortunately, I'm on T-Mobile with the DHD but I got one before they were available on the site to everyone and it has no branding at all. The ROMs are RUU - ROM Update Utility but I don't think you can just flash stock over a T-Mobile branded version.
3. If you don't know how to flash a ROM then you're going to have to learn how by reading lots of threads and asking careful questions.
I can't give you links because I don't know how to go from branded to stock, I only know what I need to for my phone. I was in the middle of typing out what I think you need to do but I got stuck due to the stock ROM. I don't know if the downgrade process will work or not, and if it does work I don't know if that's downgrading to a stock ROM. I'm sorry I've just added more confusion
Suffice to say you'll need at least this information...
How to downgrade from branded to stock HTC firmware
One-click root tool at some point
Possibly / probably an install of the Android SDK to use ADB commands, not sure on this but I have it already from my G1 days.
Information on which is the stock EU or UK ROM version (RUUs remember?)
The search isn't handy when you don't know what you're looking for but hopefully this will give you somewhere to start.
Thats strange, my DHD is from T-Mobile and has no branding on it whatsoever.
right..you cant really call it fastboot on tmobile rom.
dont you think we could claim them for "doing" that? they sell the dhd with the spec "fastboot"..so its limited in its features..

Dunno about colours but battery life and overall speed and performance are way better than stock
I was in the exact same position Dutch vodafone branded 1.75 softwareversion. I somehow managed to create a goldcard, downgrade, root my device and then S-OFF. I used the provided tutorials in the Android development section. Before that I just read alot untill I convinced myself I could do it. After that I used generic 1.72 RUU.exe via pc to flash my DHD. My device is now unbranded. Creating the goldcard was the hardest part, pay attention as you need to write mmc2/mmc2 instead of mmc1/mmc somewhere in the process.

I was just about to start the first process above (downgrading) when I noticed my current Build number = "1.39.110.1 CL278886 release-keys". Now I don't know what most of that means, but in the downgrading forum it says this;
System requirements:
Desire HD with build number 1.72 or higher

Does this mean I don't need to downgrade? Is my current build number 1.39?

EDIT: This was a reponse to LeatherFace's question Android Revolution having Sense UI. My forum view must have tripped out

Well, the last time I posted on XDA Developers was in 2008, back when I had a bunch of windows mobile devices. So I understand the basics.
After going over to Apple, I am now back, and using a HTC ONE V GSM.
I want to upgrade to Jelly Bean. At the moment it is stock ICS, from hong kong. There is no data on the phone or SD card that I need to backup.
Please detail the steps or link to instructions I need to follow so I can upgrade to JB without bricking the phone.
I would just like a stable jelly bean ROM that is fast, with no bugs.
Thanks in advance.
search the development thread for cm10 or aokp ..1st tell wht phone u have? gsm or cdma?
I have GSM. I just really need a step by step guide detailing what I need to do before and after I download a ROM.

Is the title of the thread anyway related to what you wrote? Also, if you weren't 'noob' you would have most likely found out the reason why you can't flash any JB (sense) ROMs.
Anyway, if you want to flash any of the sense JB ROMs aka Android Revolution HD, Insert Coin etc. forget about it - your phone is branded and you got to wait for an official update.
Just in case you ask, no, there isn't a way to unbrand your device.
What has this have to do with LeeDroid?
ok thanx, i thought the cid might have had something to do with leedroid
ahh ok, any idea when the update is due, and do i need to be stock to recieve it.

Attention successfully acquired.
touchy guys ouch, i wrote leedroid because i thought that my cid was generated by the rom. and the reason i couldnt get jb was because of this rom geeeees lol.
Then you should've read the multitudes of FAQ's on our phone that CID is pre-determined at manufacture.
Hello..
I would like to know where can I find a ROM to flash to my HTC One M8 (CID HTC__102), exactly equal to the one that comes from HTC (without any modification)?
I thought that this ROM was called stock ROM...but I currently have "Android Revolution HD 8.1 by mike1986" and the ebay seller of my HTC told me that this version is stock... although.. when I try to use some features (for example, "add google account".. I get the error "Cannot connect to google server") they do not work.. and besides this.. if ROM says something like "(...) by mike1986" I believe it's not the original ROM.
If "stock rom" does actually mean an original rom,..is "stock odexed 1.54.401.10" file of mike's site an original rom from HTC? How can I know that it works with my CID?
What's the difference between using the above mentioned stock ROM or a Nandroid (for example the "CID HTC__102 1.12.401.17 - TWRP Thanks to MaximN97" that I saw in this XDA's thread?
Thank you in advance for your help, and my apologies for such noob (and maybe dumb) questions.
All the best,
SkElEtIkO
Trust me... reflash ARHD 8.1 with a clean start and you will love it!
HTC__001 is unbranded, and anything else is branded or region specific, I would say your better off with what your CID is, so use HTC__002.
Also, might be an idea to stop making new posts, on every question, and keep to the same post, as they are all related to the same thing
The rom by Mike is the stock rom but made into a "custom" package. You can even update official ota's with that if you flash the stock recovery after that.
It's the same as a nandroid backup. They are considered de-bloated.
In your case it doesn't matter which one you use (nand or mikes) because they both work.

Hello Ross,..
I just made a new post because that particular question about what was "ROM stock" was really confusing me (as almost everything about flashing ROMs), since everyone was talking about mike's ROMs when I'm asking about original ones..I simply don't want a custom ROM..because I don't needed to..for me is much more important to have full warranty.
In what regards to CID.. and I believe I didn't say that I wanted to change it.. just asked at that time if the de-odexed file was applyable to HTC__102 version.. but never mind.. I will use the Nandroid..
Thanks.
