[Q] Galaxy Note 2 - Canada - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note II

Hey guys,
I`m from Brazil and I`m spending some days in Victoria - BC. I want to buy a galaxy note 2 but I found only locked Galaxy Notes 2 with carrier. If I buy one is it going to work in Brazil? If I change the ROM to the international version or any Brazilian version is it going to be unlocked? The lte version works with gsm sim cards too?
tks all =)

Any ideas?

The Sprint model of this phone has an embedded sim. Meaning it's not removable. So unless you do some modifying of the hardware and most likely the software too, it won't work for you.
I know the international version of the phone has a sim slot as should Tmobile and AT&T.

[Q] unlocking galaxy nexus....

Hello every one... i am waiting too get my galaxy nexus from 3... is there any way I can unlock it to all network as I am willing to use it overseas while traveling.
To my knowledge (north American) galaxy nexi are nit carrier locked unless you have the CDMA version if your gnex has a sim card it should support any card you put in it that uses the same network frequencies as the device
You can find the frequencies here http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_nexus-4219.php
Worst case scenario once you root and flash a custom rom I doubt there would be any simlock... .. but you shouldn't have to go that far

Thank you mate..
If it's on 3 UK it'll probably be locked at this point. There were only a few from the first batch that weren't. Try calling cust. support and ask them, O2 provided me with one for free. If not then you can get a code via eBay for about £10.

I purchased mine from a three UK high street shop just before Christmas and it is not locked to 3.I have only tried an orange sim and it worked perfectly.

Got mine from 4uphones on Vodafone as an upgrade, no lock or carrier spam. Hope the 3 one is the same
There's few operators that will lock the sim.
I bought my nexus on PAYG from three, I've been using my T-mobile sim in it since. They are sim free from three.

Unlocked Nexus

If i buy a Verizon Galaxy Nexus, and unlock the bootloader.. Would it be able to work with a T-Mobile sim?

i dont think it will sorry, but then again iam not to sure. i think sim unlocking and bootloader unlocking are two differant things. it dosent cost much to get a phone sim unlocked though and if you do some google searching you might be able to unlock it yourself.
i just read on google that you cant unlock verizon or sprint.
The verizon nexus only has cdma & LTE bands, so no, the only other possibilities are Sprint and other cdma carriers.

Boot loader != sim unlock
CDMA / LTE != GSM
Verizon phones not marketed as 'GLOBAL' will NOT work on GSM carriers. Unlocking a CDMA phone is hard and if done can only be used on CDMA networks (sprint or Verizon in US) and even then you need to provision the phone for the new network and CDMA network operators do not like to allow other phones on their network since you did not buy the phone from that carrier.
TL;DR:
Verizon only works on Verizon

You can get a GSM Galaxy Nexus, unlock and work with T-Mobile.
I have the Nexus and am on T-Mobile.

yes a global verizon phone will but it is sim locked.
First of all non of the galaxy nexus phones are locked. The T Mobile version works with the Att version and so on. The Verizon version will never work on the other networks because cdma is not compatible with GSM period

Verizon galaxy nexus only works on Verizon. It has a sim slot but it's designed strictly for LTE.
It will not work with tmobile or att

This is actually wrong, some of the phones being sold in Europe are actually sim-locked. There is a thread under the general section discussing someone trying to sim-unlock their phone.

[Q] Unlocked Galaxy Nexus works with all carriers?

Okay, newbie here. Will be buying my first smartphone and I've decided on the galaxy nexus. First, some important info: I'm from Canada. Bell has the phone on a three year contract with a $50 plan, which I don't want. So I'm looking at buying an unlocked version so there won't be contracts and I can use which ever carrier I want.
NegriElectronics seems to sell it unlocked. (aww.....can't post links.)
However, when I asked the guy, he said that it was the GSM version so will only work with gsm networks. But from my research online and a similar post on this forum, it seems that any and all galaxy nexus phones have quadband gsm and pentaband hspa so will work with all carriers?
So I'm currently confused as to which one is correct. I really want to make sure. Since I'm new to this, any help is appreciated. Thanks.
Both are correct. The GNex is a quadband GSM phone, and thus will operate in all GSM networks.
Canadian carriers already killed cdma, so you can use it on basically any carrier you want on Canada. Only if it's not lte SIM card or anything like that

Thank you very much to both for clarifying. So wait, what if I buy the galaxy nexus from either windmobile or mobilicity as they both allow you to buy it outright without contract? Will I still be able to use the phone with other carriers or will it be locked to the company I bought it from?

International Note 2 or AT&T Note 2?

I have a galaxy s 3 but am getting ready to buy a Note 2 off contract. Since there the same hardware and same price should I go with INT version for more developer support?

I guess if you don't need LTE. The H+ N7100 one is the only one of the international ones with a lot of support. Most the International LTE guys are using AT&T roms it seems. Last time I was in the N7105 section of the international forums, there wasn't a whole lot going on.
Get the at&t version. Since the phones are the same any new update the international lte one gets we can port over easy!!!!
