How to install
First and foremost. Check to see if these tones are titled the same as yours. They may vary. If not, just rename them to match yours.
1. Download tone
2. I recommend renaming the original tone with a .bak ending, just Incase you want to use it again.
3. Copy and paiste the new one in the system/media/audio/ui folder.
4. Fix permissions like usual
5. Reboot
------------------------------------------------
Ringtones
These have to go into the system/media/audio/ringtone folder. Fix permission
Or
Create a ringtone folder on your SD card. You wont loose them this way. No need to fix permission
Feel free to share your tones here

Should be possible. Ill make a blank one when I get home tonight. You can just fill in the folder with what you want. Its basically the same as my lock screen zips, just change the destinatinon folder to what you want using 7zip on your PC.

There's one (blank zip) been posted for awhile in the development thread.

Here's what I used for most of my system sounds, and charger connect. Really annoying, but fun to play with. You just keep tapping the back button and zap lasers at people.

Thats basically the same as the one I use. It is set up to send files to system/app or framework. Adding the string system/media/audio/ui and adding the sounds in ui, was a no go.

Yeah I did, it's still the same sound on the dialer, I'm on stock rooted, if that makes any difference as to where the file is.
I finally found the sound (thanks to CNexus). It's located in the SecContacts system app. I created a replacement apk that can be copied and pasted into system/app for those that want it.

Look in the link in my sig, I have a few more links to modified seccontacts.apk files, one with a "ding" sound and the other with the iphone sound. I only tested them with the T-mobile variant but should work fine on sprint.
Have you done anything with secgallery? I was trying to change the sounds in that too but couldn't get it to work.

I believe the gallery just uses the system sounds from system/media/ui
Sent from my T-Mobile Galaxy S3
I thought so too, but the sounds are in the app.
most are in the "raw" folder, for example..in framework you can get rid of the water ripple sound on the lock screen...
I've changed the screen touch sounds and lock screen sounds in system/media/audio/ui. I finally made a replacement app for the dialer, but the Gallery apk is giving me trouble. And there are 2 raw folders with the ogg files in there.
Even though there is a tutorial that has been posted on this before, it is somewhat old and buried.
THIS DOES WORK ON ALL BUILDS OF TW BASED JELLYBEAN
You will need to do a few things before we start.
1. Go HERE and download the latest version of LMT Launcher. It would do you justice to also read that thread to understand the installation and setup process for the Pie Controls. Do all of that and then move on to step 2.
2. Grab this file and place it on either your external or internal SD card.
3. On your device, use any root filemanager of your choice (i.e. ES File Explorer, Root File Explorer, etc.) Find the Generic.kl file I included and copy it. Navigate to system/usr/keylayout and change the file called "Generic.kl" to "Generic.kl.bak" (DO NOT DELETE IT) then paste the Generic.kl file that you copied.
4. Go back to home and then go to Settings/Display/Touch Key Light Duration and select Always off.
5.Reboot your device and enjoy.
Credits go to DEF3NDER: If you want navbar softkeys instead of pie.

Awesome DEF3NDER. Just got a PM from Mattix724 this morning with this as well. I'll give it a go and let you know how it works out.
Edit-works great. And I took a screenshot with the power and vol down button as well. Question. When I'm on xda app, a menu button appears. Is there anyway to have that on all the time? Basically a virtual set of the cap keys, up, all the time? Thanks for this, very cool and SO easy.
Edit(again). Holy freaking crap Batman. Nevermind. I just noticed, that on every page, app, I pull up, except for the home page, the menu for that app is already in the top right corner. Actually, no. It doesn't locate itself, so I'm not able to use camera as is. Downloaded after market camera to use in the mean time, but really like the camera that came with jv. Lowering the dpi sounds like a viable option. I'll look into it this evening. Thanks for the idea DEF3NDER.

Hey does any of you guys know how do I turn off the warning when I turn the volume up? It's getting quite annoying.. thanks in advance.
Sent from my SGH-M919 using xda app-developers app
The volume warring is a horrible feature, I'm trying to think of why it needs to popup every time. This must have been included for liability reasons.
My problem is that my headphones don't exactly sit close to ear with my helmet on, so they're too quite. Then I can't always grab my phone and close out the warning while I'm riding.
The only solution I've found for this problem is to install a different rom, I am using ReVolt right now. You can disable the warning in the sound settings.
I also would like to know. I want to disable the toast after setting an app as default as well. It's super annoying.

If you're rooted, you can try Xposed Framework. It's the best. Not only can you remove the warning, there is so much more to customize.

Edit: system/media/audio/ui
most roms have unique notification/boot/call sounds.

Yes mounted as root. Everything looks good but on key press the sound is the original one and not my replacement.

did you reset? did you play the sound file from the folder to see if it's correct?

Yep, I replaced the four Keypress files in system/media/audio/ui and then I doubled checked the spelling of each and played each from within the ui folder to be certain that the volume and quality were suitable. Everything looks and sounds nice in there. I'm scratching my head on this for awhile now.

I did reboot. I'm wondering if the ROM I'm running is taking precedence over the files I'm replacing. As in if I reboot then the ROM loads the original sound again. It doesn't seem like it should be like that but I wonder if unzipping the ROM and replacing the files inside there might work... thoughts?
btw thanks for all the responses
As the title suggests, I would like to be able to automatically have my data turned on to download a MMS and the turn back off. I had this functionality on cyanogenmod but can't figure it out on HYPERDRIVE.
I'm on a fixed data plan and prefer to leave my data off all day and use it as needed. Anybody have any ideas? Flashable patch or something in terminal?

Never mind. I found a thread on here discussing the issue. Not a feature on touchwiz. If you paste the following:
<CscFeature_RIL_ForceConnectMMS>true</CscFeature_RIL_ForceConnectMMS>
This goes into /system/csc/feature.xml
Make sure you put it into the body of the file and not at the bottom. It needs to be before the end.

Does that mean it can be put anywhere?
I put it just before the end, before
</FeatureSet>
</SamsungMobileFeature>
Just make sure you create it's own line and don't put it in the middle of another coding line.

I dont seem to have a csc folder... I am on Carbon ROM. any help finding it would be much appreciated
From what I can tell this fix seems pretty exclusive to touchwiz based roms.
