Rename to bootanimation.zip (they should be already) and replace it with the one in system/media. Only works in aosp btw

I renamed my old one and left it there in \system\media so that I can always revert back.
Whichever one is named "bootanimation.zip" is the one the system will use on boot.

sorry if this is a n00b question but...
i dled it, unziped to see the folders. im wondering if i am to push the both included folders into those two locations, or just the .apk and .so filee in the /system folder? if the latter is the case (which i think it is) , what do i do with the META-INF folder?

use root explorer, place in system/media. Rename original one to old-bootanimation.zip, then paste new one in system/media and make sure its all lower case and looks just like this ---> bootanimation.zip and the permissions are the same as the old one. Then reebot.

You have to have a custom kernel installed that supports boot animations. The stock .qmg files are propriety. And you cant replace those ones. Believe me I've tried. Lol.

how do u flash a kernal without bricking? I have odin.... totally new to Samsung. used to moto and their locked bootloaders. and can u just get rid of the sprint 4g animation?

I am on a GB. I am running rogue kernel. Its safe in GB, hopefully ICS soon. And yes you can just get rid of them. But when your phone boots up it will be a blank screen. (while booting, you'll see Samsung screen, then nothing until lockscreen comes up.)

I bet this gets a thread on pretty much every single device forum, codeworkx over at I9100 forum basically said that this doesn't speed up the boot process. It is nice to look at but I can't see the obsession that people have with boot logo's, you probably see it like once every week when you reboot and that's it.

Ah good, got rid of CID.
Didn't like him
I must have used the wrong one because now no animation shows and upon bootup I can see about 1/4 of my screen. the rest is black. I used the vertical 720 one. Supposed to be 800?
Time to reflash...
The link to my drop box has the proper one (vertical 800). I got it from gerrit this morning and i am using it now and it works fine.

Hey guys I just updated to the latest PA2.1 for my Nexus, I really loved the boot animation and was sad to see it leave when I updated my trinity kernel, anyone have just the ParanoidAndroid boot animation for a nexus 7 ready to flash.
Thanks,
This belongs in the PA thread, don't make a new one

Pull it from the ROM u downloaded, it is in system/media. Paste back into our tablet.

I've just pulled this from the PA 2.1 rom. It's not flashable, but you can use a file explorer to copy it into /system/media. Solid Explorer is free and will do the job.

Haven't done it in a while but they should be in /system/fonts/. Not sure if they changed it in Jellybean or ICS but on 2.3, the general UI fonts were named DroidSans and DroidSans-Bold.
Replace the fonts in /fonts using root explorer and reboot.
