Hi peeps
I screwed up installing a ROM. does anyone have or can help with the original RUU for a UK htc one x? Pretty please :cyclops:
You can not screw up a rom, only the install process ! Do it again the right way.
Do a full wipe, flash the boot.img that is in the rom.zip file with fastboot commands, flash the rom.zip in recovery !
Should be good to go again

flash the boot.img as you did again, then boot into recovery and flash the rom.zip... remember to full wipe
In recovery you have to
Install zip from sdcard
Choose zip from sdcard
Choose the rom.zip and follow the on screen process
So close

Thanks for that, little nervous as the last time I installed a custom ROM (other than my nexus 7) I thought I'd bricked my phone took me two days to get it working (HTC Desire)..
So following those instructions will do the job ?
I need to understand the terminology kernels , boot.img , ROMS, RUU but following those instructions and download the ROM extract the boot.img install that on my phone with fast boot on my PC then boot into TWRP and install the ROM and that's it ?

Correct, flash the boot.img with the command fastboot flash boot boot.img
then fastboot erase cache
then boot to recovery and install the rom.zip via recovery.
Thanks so it really is that simple or am I missing something seen lots having problems with boot loops etc is there anything else I need to be aware of
As far as I can see the order and actions I need to do bearing in mind my HTC is already bootloader unlocked and rooted
1Download the ROM copy to phone
2 Extract Boot.IMG from the ROM
3 Boot my phone into boot loader
4 Connect to PC and in fastboot (phone shows fastbootusb) fast boot flash boot boot.img
5 Still in fastboot fastboot erase cache
5 Boot into recovery (connected to PC or not?) Full wipe then install the ROM followed by installing the updates through recovery
Thanks again

So did you use twrp to flash the ROM or your PC? Is it possible to use twrp?
Dude ....you are bumping a thread from November last year ! What do you expect to hear ! A Rom is always flashed with a custom recovery and the boot.img file with the pc. Always have been like that
.HEY everyone I have my Samsung galaxy nexus rooted ..I tried to unroot it But couldnt succeeded in it I have rom manager
I did the following steps
1..flash clockwork recovery mod
2..backup my phone data
3..install a rom from sd card.. I download the tagju -maguro factory image from Google developers
4..extract the files in a folder And copied that folder in my phone internal storage.
5..when the option *install rom from sd card came up I located the file.. But in 2 seconds installation starter And installation aborted..
I tried figuring out What's going wrong the whole Night But couldn't succeed..
Hope I explained my problem... do let me know of anyone up with it's solution.
Thanks
the factory image from google is a img file you can only flash zip files in recovery... you have to flash the img file in fastboot mode, follow efrants guide to go back to stock

too long and complicated? really?
it boils down to a couple commands
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash system.img
fastboot flash userdata.img
fastboot flash recovery.img
fastboot flash radio radio.img
fastboot flash bootloader bootloader.img
if that is too difficult, you need to never root/rom your phone.

1. You haven't explained where you got the file, and I'm still not sure whether you have a flashable zip or an img.
2. If an img, the post above yours explained generally how to flash the images, and efrant's guide linked a couple posts above that is quite clear as well. In short, put your phone in fastboot, connect to computer, and fastboot flash the relevant files from terminal.
3. If a flashable zip, don't unzip it; just wipe and flash the entire zip from recovery.

Hello,
From what i saw in your attachment, I can tell that you are using stock recovery. So I suggest you to google how to install Clockworkmod touch recovery.
Steps from wiki:
Download "Rom Manager" from Google Play, use the app to download the correct version of CWM for your phone (update.zip file), reboot into the stock recovery and choose the option "re-install package" TWO TIMES to temporarily load CWM from the update.zip file. This file needs to remain on the phone to load CWM when needed each time. DO NOT DELETE!
Then boot into Recovery and install your rom (zip file)
Good luck,
zepius post #9. You could do fastboot boot "cwm.img", substituting the actual filename for "cwm.img" without the parentheses, then flash the .zip. Also, depending on what rom you're on, you'll probably need a factory reset first. Looks like you'll need to consult efrant's post to learn fastboot either way.
Guys, OP wants to unroot/return to stock. Instructions were already given.

Then full wipe and flash the ROM in recovery.

Yes you don't need to flash the boot.img again... Just boot into recovery... wipe cache+dalvic and then flash gapps.zip (Download the one which I gave you)... and then reboot!
Edit: The above way can be followed if your booting into ROM correctly... If you can't then just follow the steps again which I had posted earlier in the thread...

We need to know which stock system version you had to get the right kernel ideally or if you have a custom recovery you could go and flash a new rom which will have a kernel to go with it (depending on your hboot version).

Flash this recovery, your battery does NOT charge in that old recovery
http://db.tt/SPXdFfPw
Then flash the boot.img from the cm10 rom. Its inside the zip
Then you make a full wipe in the recovery and install cm10 and right after that the gapps file (all can be downloaded from the cm10 thread)
Reboot and done
Edit :
All flashing can be done with the toolkit

You can put files into the storage by booting into cwm recovery, selecting mount USB storage, and connecting it to your computer.
For how to flash ROMs, look at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2069904 second post.
Battery too low ?
Oke put this file inside the fastboot folder on the pc (you have the fastboot.exe file, should be in one of the folders in the toolkit dir)
http://db.tt/aLqeTpPO
Execute this file with the phone in the bootloader ! It will continuing to loop your bootloader and charge it little by little. Let it run for about 30 min and then flash again the recovery. The recovery name must be just "recovery.img" so rename it if needed

So after I've done that, How would I flash the rom, I can't mount sd storage through cwm because it says " uns error, no such file or directory" I formatted the usb earlier, could it have something to do with that? Is there any other way?
Thats because i told you to flash the new recovery first from the link i gave you. That one is able to mount the sdcard so you can copy the rom + gapps to it
