My current boot: 080, Version 123, rom installed, everytime i try to flash a differnt ruu to debrand the phone i get error code 140, i have tried 121, 115 roms without avail.

Post in right sections, mods?
I hope you'll get help tho, nothing against you
one word for you: unrEVOked
www.rootmydroid.co.uk then click "desire" on the right
Hi mate, done that even lost my Normal HTC recovery console.
i read somewere any with 123, bootloader 080 can not update, or downgrade.
can anyone confirm this.
Yes unrEVOked root's your Desire, giving you access to all these nice Rom's on here
Pick one you like to the look of and flash it. You will keep you 0.80 HBOOT and can flash between 2.1, 2.2, Sense and AOSP as you like.
Please help me
You can help yourself by using a proper title for your posts instead of "please help me" and post in the right section, this section is for rom development.
Hi Mate,
Can you give me a little more detail about this, i have tried every solution no to man,
and i either get 121, saying ruu error code 140, or 115, stating error 170,
when i try to root and use the update.zip meathod i get to the assert part then the
install aborts itself.
I would love to someone to tell me if any one out their knows what im doing wrong, or if indeed its a case that my desire has some kind of branded lock on it by VM and HTC,, I am at the end of my tether trying to sort this out. Even bought a new 1gb memory card for rooting still no luck.
I did apologise one before to the admins, im new to this.
I don't think having a go really helps. thanks for your support.
Please could you explain the process, to make sure im doing this correct, sorry for being such a Noob!
Don't be sorry, just explain what your actual problem is
give ys a step by step guide what you are doing with what and where the errors are being thrown up
My problem is: Bootloader 080, Version software 123, Virginmedia unlocked but branded phone, tried all methods to downgrade to 121 so i can flash the 2.2 update.
121 = Error code 140 bootloader when i get to the signatures part, RUU
115 = Error code 171 Bootloader when i get to the singatures part, RUU
Update.zip meathod get the assert part then come up with loads of basic failer errors
then eventually aborts itself.
I made a goldcard = with gold card tool, works fine, but still i cant unbrand my phone, dont know if anyone has come across this, been to Mark Southby blog and no can help me from their. Hopefully you great chaps on here can.
With that bootloader you should not really need to goldcard, just root and flash another rom.
Do not flash the OTA or official 2.2 from HTC as it will just spoil your experiences in the future, if your really that picky about custom roms then just flash a pre-rooted 2.2 stock rom.
Just follow the unrevoked guide on rootmydroid (as per my last post) and you should have no problems (no RUU required).
Many Thanks
for the help i will try that 1st, and come back if i need more assistance.,
sorry for posting in the wrong place.

Bootloader corrupt while ENG S-off -Pls Help me

Hey guys,
i know there are other threads like this. But i could´t find the right answer for me.
I just wanted to flash a custom rom.
I downgraded my dhd to 1.32. Then I used visonary to get root and did the radio s-off with the easy tool.
But when i tryed to do the ENG S-OFF, easy s-off always gives me the message "Bootloader corrupt, DO NOT REBOOT".
I guess, this is to hot for me now. What can I do to NOT brick my Phone and get my good old stock rom back??
I really look forward to your answers
EDIT: Ok.. After the first excitement I found a helpful post. Can i install a stock RUU to recuse my Phone or will it restart before it and my phone is trash?
Please use pre existing threads when posting.

[Q] HTC Desire 2.3.3(Ginge) Downgrade to 2.2 Foyo?

G'day peeps,
I really didnt want to post this. Ive scoured for hours and hours though and although Ive found lots of downgrade threads from Gingerbread to Froyo the reported Radio version is always different to mine. As is the software version.
So heres my predicament. I (stooopidly) upgraded to Gingerbread but want root access!
The only way I can see me being able to get root access is if a downgrade is possible?
Here's my phone report
HTC Desire (NOT HD)
Android Version 2.3.3
Baseband Version 32.56.00.32U_5.17.05.23
Build Number 3.14.405.1 CL96875 release-keys
Software Number 3.14.405.1
I believe my Hboot to be 1.06 or something.
Do I have any chance at all? And if so where can I find some destructions?
Thanks guys
http://revolutionary.io
You can root gingerbread, go to revolutionary.io
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Thanks guys. I had actually bookmarked http://revolutionary.io as a possible.
Im very pleased, now I have performed an entire backup and flashed cyanogenmod v7 (stable)
Runs like a dream and vrey customisable too
Now Ive a few more questions?
I am interested in trying out a few more roms to find the "one" I think I could be happy with for a while.
Heres are the roms Im interested in:
Virtuous Unity v2.35.0
Uncommon Sense
Sense-o-Villain
and very interested in TwoPointTwo
However, Warm for example states I need to download radio/wiimax updates.
Other roms have similiar requirements. Like a CM7 Hboot rev2 etc.
I've tried to work our if its safe or not for me to instll any of these and as far as I can tell it isnt.
Thanks again for all the help
Unable to downgrade
I tried all methods of downgrading but there is no success. But I have successfully rooted my HTC Desire running 2.3.3 with revolutionary.io method + CWD + su-2.3.6.3-efgh-signed.
Is there anyone in this world downgraded Gingerbread to Froyo?? I also have the same radio version 5.17.05.23 , but whenever I try to downgrade it says "main version is older update failed".

what is the ruu that u used?
if u want a froyo rom, just flash a rom from the recovery
if u want go back to stock froyo (why u should do this? u need warranty?) then fastboot flash the bravo downgrader hboot from alpharev.nl then the froyo ruu
Teppic74's downgrader used to downgrade 2.2 to 2.1 regardless of Hboot. The only thing it needed was temp root which it did for you.
Obviously the exploit used to root Froyo no longer works in GB, but if it already has root, it may work.
Heres the thread.
Although there is some question about erase size 40,000 devices so I would keep an eye on this thread for information purposes rather than jum, ping in and breaking things

Does that work? will that allow an older Hboot to downgrade?

its reported to work millions of time..the bravo downgrader is a 0.93 hboot..and the last froyo ruu has the same hboot version...
anyway when u have s-off, with fastboot u can flash every hboot u wish (its not like the ruu, there is no check in fastboot flash command)
I tried that myself and it failed due wrong bootloader version.

mean u can't fastboot flash an older hboot over a new one? which were ur hboots?
the bravo downgrader hboot from alpharev doesn't have a downgrade protection, over that u can run every ruu to overwrite it, thats what aplharev say

all u need to know is here
http://wiki.rootzwiki.com/index.php/HTC_Desire (u can skip the step about installing adb anyway)
http://unrevoked.com/rootwiki/doku.php/public/revolutionary
http://revolutionary.io/
in summary the steps are:
-uninstall htc synch totally, and install the drivers in the guide above
-download revolutionary tool with the beta key
-run it, plug device, inser key..choice to install the recovery also
thats it..u are s-offed, after that install super user from recovery to have root (in the guide above is described how to)

I had the same problem, the only solution that worked for me was this:
1. do your backups
2. use revolutionary.io to S-OFF and CWM
2. get
Code:
RUU_Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.29.405.5_Radio_32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27_release_159811_signed.exe
3. run it and let it downgrade the Android to 2.2
4. root using unrevoked 3 (not able to use external links yet, google it up)
Hope it will help

[Q] Solution to accepting 2.3.4 OTA after s-off on 2.3.3?

Im a total noob coming from the Inc1 (which was easier to root and update)
I searched but may have missed something in the tons on information on this forum.
I did s-off using revolutionary as soon as i got the phone while running 2.3.3
Now I tried to accept the OTA 2.3.4 but it gives me an install error while trying to update.
I was wondering if reverting to the stock recovery (while s-off) would allow me to accept the OTA then I can push Clockworkmod recovery to become rooted again? if so where can i find the stock recovery for 2.3.3 and the new clockworkmod recovery i need to push after.
again, slight noob and any help would be appreciated.
If this has already been covered, I'm sorry, just link the thread and delete this one.
Thank you very much.
You Question has been answered here, maybe try waiting a little longer for a reply next time instead of opening new thread.

You really need to search this forum first! Anyway, I'll make it easy for you this time.
If you have the HTC stock ROM v2.2.1 and your phone is network branded then you most likely have HBOOT 1.01.0002 which means that the standard rooting methods will not work unless you do this first:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1132028
After you do that, which downgrades your HBOOT from 1.01.0002 to 1.01.0001 you'll have to use Revolutionary to S-OFF you phone. At the end, the Revolutionary process will ask you if you want to install a recovery. Make sure that you DO!
Option 1. If you want to stay with the stock ROM then you also need to do the next step:
After that you need to put the zip file attached (see end of this post) on you SD card, boot your phone into recovery and install that zip from your SD card to gain ROOT. Afterwards you'll probably also want to go onto the Market to download BusyBox and install it in both possible locations, i.e. system/bin AND system/xbin - diferent programs look for BusyBox at different locations.
Option 2. Otherwise, you can just put your favourite custom ROM zip on your SD card, boot into recovery, do a 'Wipe/factory reset' and then install the custom ROM zip.
NOTE: This will NOT unlock your phone if it is network locked! You will be rooted and be able to install custom ROMs, etc. but you will STILL be network locked!
