[Q] problems with markphyton's stock ics - Xperia Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi guys, i hope this is right, and makes sense, here goes:
i am trying to install markphyton's stock ics for xperia play from here , following all of the instructions, with the lupus kernel v8.
after several attempts, i did some extra searching, and decided to format the data, cache and system partitions prior to install, as well as wiping the dalvik cache, and the cache, and doing a factory reset in CWM recovery. then i installed the rom above, and then installed the wifi modules for the lupus kernel. then i reboot. i get a message from recovery asking if i want to fix root, because it may have been lost. if i pick either yes or no, it reboots.
after reboot i get a blank screen, with the icons inside the notification bar visible. the bar also moves when i tilt the phone, and when i slide out the controls, but it cannot be dragged down, or interacted with in any way.
also, i can hear and feel (through haptic feedback) that when i tap the screen, there are buttons being pushed, and things happening, but cannot see anything besides the notification icons. the screen will lock, but upon pressing the power/lock key, the only thing on the screen is the aforementioned notification icons (if i fix root i get a usb plug, battery, time, a signal bar with no signal, and a small android figure. if i decide not to fix root, i lose the little android, and gain a no-sd card symbol).
luckily i have a backup of my cm 9.1.0, but this has its own problems (VERY laggy on anything other than home screen, app drawer and apps are very slow to open. also after going into silent mode once, and returning to normal mode, most interface sounds are gone, as well as facebook updates).
any help is greatly appreciated.

try to flash .58 or any stock firmware first and continue to flash the latest lupus kernel v11. wifi module is include in this version so no need to flash the module after.then follow instruction on how to install the ics by markphyton.that what i do..

after trying this, every rom is now listed as bad in cwn, i have tried to flash a new bootloader with no luck. i tried re-flashing the bootloader that comes with the cm-9.1.0-zeus file, and the bootloader works, but every rom/backup that i try to flash, it tells me that the file is bad, or has an md5 mismatch. so im going to open a new thread, to try and bring it back.

CM7 problems?

I'm making this thread to try and solve issues and problems with cm7 for problems that you can probably solve instead of posting 10 times and making a repeated question in the official thread of cm7 development thread
If you have any issues we can help each other, to start with I got the blue then green light on my first restart, but after wiping data and cache AGAIN (I already did it before installing from zip) it worked!
I had problems with the notification widgets, but after a few restarts it didn't dissapeared. So that problem solved by itself
I currently have the flash notification widget not working (and it works on camera but not on video recording) I don't know if it is a common problem from the beta 3 version (If someone knows I would be thankfull***) but meanwhile you can get the flash to work with this widget https://market.android.com/details?id=com.advback.ledflashlight&feature=search_result
The Wifi is working OK but it seems like the refreshing time of signal is too low (I get close to the wifi router and maybe there are 1min. until the small widget at the top fills up) and viceversa I get away from signal and it is remained full until 1 min or so.
edit:
For Gps small fix you can find in the page 123 this from AkkiandDefy:
1.Search FasterFix in the market and install!
2.Open it and choose your region the
3.Now theprogramm will install the right Config
4.And then install GpsFix and let him search
Don't be afraid..let him search longer(till he tell the right adress). Once fixed he will find it always faster.
Admin or mods if there is any problem with my thread let me know, I'm just trying to help
good Idea
just trying to help hehe my idea is to get the important information in the first post just done the flashing of the test2 for gps going to try right now
I was installing this, and it was all going fine, used the recovery thing here, it booted up fine. I then rebooted again to put on the googleapps as an update.zip, updated and now it gets stuck at the Motorola boot screen?
EDIT: OK, so I tried another data/cache wipe and installing CM7 again as update.zip, but have to use the default bootloader now and it says "signature verification failed". :S
did you instal the nordic version? 3.4.3 11 (the last one) flash this, then install superuser (with superoneclick) afterwards instal the clockwork (I used the same one as you) then wipe data, cache install beta 3, gapps and gps test 2 and reboot it should work

I had the same error - i reflashed the 3.4.3.11 sbf with rsd lite
after that, rooted , instaled clockworkrecovery and booted into recovery mode to instal CM7
After installing CM7, i allowed to boot itself (2init is set on automatic) then just reboot and enter into custom recovery via pressing vol down right after blue notification light appears - frome here you can acces custom recovery and install addons like gapps and gps fix.
Warning - entering from Clockwork recovery after CM7 installed will get you in bootloop and need to reflash the main sbf again.

really? I think I did it and it didn't happen that, but anyway my recomendation for those we don't know so much is to install from clockwork the beta, gapps and any fixes (gps etc) at the same time without rebooting so we don't have to use it anymore (in this logical order, 'cause maybe it doesn't mind but maybe it can prevent us from getting any error)
Thanks for the replies everyone.
Right now I've flashed 3.4.3.11 on with RSD Lite, that went fine. I've rooted with Superoneclick and installed the custom recovery app from before, and I can get into Clockwork recovery with that.
Now though when I try to do a wipe it says "can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p2 (File exists)" and "error mounting /sd-ext/!". I took out my SD card and formatted and partitioned it with 500mb ext, 50mb linux swap and around 1.5GB FAT to see if that would help, but it hasn't. I did this with my PC, however I did use the one on the recovery before that, which was probably a bad idea. I didn't think to much of it since it should have only affected the SD card.
I think now I need to use ADB or something to fix this, I've also unrooted and rooted again. I also tried installing cyanogenmod before the mount errors when only an "app2sd" error was coming up on the wipe, but it didn't actually do anything, it just started up with the stock 2.2 froyo again.
EDIT: I tried just wiping and installing cyanogenmod.zip and gapps.zip anyway, but it just comes reboots with stock blur/froyo. I don't have any "update.zip"s or anything.
try wipe from stock. do: vol down + power and then when the ! appears with the android guy press vol down + vol up
afterwards you will get stuck in the moto logo. get out the battery, put it again and flash the nordic version 3.4.3 11 then enable adb and with superoneclick install root
IMPORTANT: NOW GET OUT ADB AND REBOOT
after reboot install clockwork and get the beta 4 and gapps into the sdcard,
then wipe data and wipe cache
install from zip first beta then gapps (if an error of line X appears and says installation aborted just try again it will work, happened to me several times) and reboot!
Hey, thanks for the thread.
I have a problem with FasterFix. Mine asks for root permission but it just won't load. Remains in black screen and does nothing. GPSFix opens, but don't sync.
Any ideas?
@Quarx
Thank you for the CM7 mod, I'm loving it.
Will post it to the original forum post once I'm able to.
And will buy you a beer
you made a really good point, fasterfix worked in beta 2 and 3 (installed it several times with some wipes) now that I've read your post and tried installing it it installed granted permissions but it doesn't run so it seems to be a beta 4 problem that wasn't present before!

I hope someone post this on the main thread.
I just applied the *.zip(s) and the am loading in for setup, it seems to be working so far. The boot screen is AWESOME as always... setup seems a bit twitchy but hopefully I'll get it to work here soon. *crossed fingers*
I think Im starting to have the earphone piece problem
Quarx posted another version to the main thread. Downloading now. Seems like it doesn't need to wipe. Lets see...
It seems a little buggy for those who have green lens. I'm waiting with 4.0.

Problems to edit the contacts
Hello.
I've had problems to edit the contacts, in my phone book.
I syncronized my contacs with the Facebook contacts. Have all of then in my contact list, but when i need to add a phone number to the contact, it says that i can't edit Facebook contacts in that device. I need to create a new contact and put the phone number in that new one, and that pisses me cause i will need to have 2 contact from 1 person, duplicating my entire contact list. And all my contat that are in my SIM card don't show in the MOD. I have downgraded and all the contacts now have reapered.
Please, if someone knows how to help, since i was using the Blur, and had all my contacts from Facebook before, editing and merging then when they are duplicated.
It seems like the camera is not THAT working. When I zoom in too much it crashes and I lose access to the camera.
Is Quarx even knowing about this thread?
Edit: I was listening to a song in PowerAmp, opened an YouTube video and all sounds gone, some process forced close and no sound was played until restarted.
Edit2: it seems like that DSPmanager forced close when YouTube opened. Disabled for now.
I've updated to beta4 and the only issue I have is with GPS. Just tested camera, video and flash and all working.
Edit: also issue with video playback... it jumps.

I can't play any videos at all. Guess I'll be back to froyo till this is fixed.

Stuck on lockscreen after reboot

On both Blazer (w/ rogue and Lost Kernel) and Calks 2.0 (only tried rogue) whenever I reboot my phone nine times out of ten, it hangs on the lockscreen with a random date and random time flashing back and forth between no signal and the regular status bar symbols. It is unresponsive to touch and repeats the process of the keys lighting up, screen comes on for about 4 seconds, keys turn off, screen turns off. Repeat... If I hit the power button, the pop up shows up but I can't touch anything so I end up having to do a battery pull and reflash the rom. I've re-downloaded both roms to rule out a bad copy. I over-wipe every time I flash a new rom formatting system, wiping data, cache, and dalvik, and then flashing Calk's format all.
I messed with it last night and it seems pretty random but more often than not, it happens. If I try to restore a nandroid I had made recently, it does the same thing. In other words, there were multiple instances where I flashed the rom, got it set up, booted to recovery to make a back up, and then it wouldn't boot back up NOR could I get my back up to boot up.
What in the hell could be causing this??? Please and 1000 thank you's!!!!
First of all, sorry to tell you I don't have the answer.
I have this exact same issue and have tried almost everything you have tried, (I didnt have a back up since I just got this phone not too long ago).
My issue started at work when my battery died really fast in the middle of the day after being fully charged. The phone got hot and I just pulled the battery to stop it. Then I came home and am having this exact same issues.
I've spent the last few hours working on resolving this without success. Hopefully someone out there knows how to resolve this issue.
Edit: I am on Rogue recovery 1.10 (cmw v 5.6.2.7) and on Blazer ROM [11/26/11] [v1.2]
Might be the rom since we are both on Blazer...Im gonna try another. Hmm we are on the same recovery too!
Thanks!
Why not flash back to stock and start over?

FIXED!!
I've got it working finally. For me, I just had to check Go Launcher as my default launcher. Now when I reboot, it loads up just fine. I guess it was hanging when it tried to open up the pop-up where you select your launcher if you have more than one and don't have one set as default. So, to the few people affected by this, set your favorite launcher as default and give it a try. Thank you to everyone for all of the suggestions.

Yes this has been an ongoing issue and posted in a few places. Also remember that when Go Launcher updates this may happen to you again. You can always use adb and push a launcher over to your phone incase you find yourself stuck like this again. Or delete launchers so there is only 1 choice
I finally got rid of this loop. I was able to flash a rom via the recovery menu in clockworkmod, since for some strange reason it won't recognize my sd card now.
Playya, so if I wanted to push a recovery on my phone (I have clockworkmod v. 4.015 installed but it won't recognize the sd card no matter what I do to it), can I do this from Root Explorer? ADB? What commands would I use? I am on Linux and am looking for a guide. Thanks.

[Q] Unusual problem installing Jellytime R16

I have just flashed Jellytime R16 to my DHD but have a slightly damaged touch screen. Unfortunately the part of the touch screen that doesn't work is the bit where you have to press the start button to move off the screen where you select the language on first boot up.
Does anyone have any ideas how I could skip the first configuration screen of the Jellytime R16 ROM?
I don't think it's permanent maybe a bad zip? Did you check MD5 checksum before you flash? And did you full wipe?
Sorry, I don't think I made myself clear. I do have a damaged touch screen nothing to do with the rom. There is a section of the touch screen that just doesn't work. It is this part that sits exactly where the start button is. It is a shame these start screens don't rotate or the start button was slightly bigger.
So if I could skip this fisr language selection screen I would probably be ok for using the rest of the rom.
I had quite a bit of trouble earlier today installing R16 due to the screen not working at all after the bootup. Had to pull the battery 2 times in a row and make sure the charger was unplugged before the screen would react to touch. Maybe you're also experiencing this thing (several others are reporting it in the JT thread).

This is a horrible suggestion for any other use and goes against everything we know about proper flashing, but if all else fails maybe try dirty flashing it over another ROM in which you CAN go through the first boot settings (for example, an ICS ROM that doesn't require the START button in that location). If the unexpected problems that sometimes arise from dirty flashes don't come up, you might be able to get into Jelly Time without the first boot menus.
Obviously, all the problems with dirty-flashing different ROMs come with this "solution."

Thats an interesting suggestion but the question there is which ICS ROM would give the best results?
I think I would prefer to have a full wipe on installation. So having a way of skipping that first configuration screen, or remotly pressing the start button or even been able to force it to rotate the screen would do the trick. However untill you have got past those first configuration screen you are locked into not been able to run any applications.
I was wondering if there was any way via ADB command line to achive this?

Yes there is. You can use the "adb shell input keyevent <event_code>" command.
You'll probably want to send the DPAD_CENTER command to click that button. I think its event code is 23. Try typing "adb shell input keyevent 23".
Try the code for KEYCODE_ENTER as well.. its 66.
There is a whole list of keyevents at this link:
http://developer.android.com/reference/android/view/KeyEvent.html
Just lookup the "Constant Value" in the description of whatever KEYCODE_xxx you're trying to simulate and use that constant value as the event_code for the command.
I've tried simulating the DPAD_LEFT and DPAD_RIGHT keypress and they're working like a charm
---------- Post added at 04:34 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:14 PM ----------
Yup. I've tried working with these Keycodes and they work fine.
Use event_codes 19 for UP, 20 for DOWN, 21 for LEFT, 22 for RIGHT to navigate to whatever button you need to press and then use 23 for pressing that button.
Should solve your problem.

Hi, did you flash Gapps as well? I've moved from ARHD (which has the configuration start screen) to JellyTime and never got the language or any other configuration start screen (which I'm glad to get rid of). I always full wiped, clean flashed just the ROM, then booted into the OS for the first time to check it out. No Gapps and no language/configuration screen - it would always go straight to the lock screen where I would just swipe to the right and it would ask me to choose either the Nova or Trebuchet launcher. I'd then rebooted into recovery again and flashed Gapps. Hope this helps.
if4ctOr, Thanks for your suggestion this is what I was originally looking for however I didn't get around to trying it as the idea that divche put forward was a much easier approach.
Divche: Thanks, that did the trick perfectly. I am also comming from ARHD so I thought I give your idea a try. I was flashing the Gapps at the same time but booting into the OS first then flashing the Gapps after that prevented the configuration popup.
I am currently swapping between ARHD and Jellytime using the recovery backups as I still haven't got everything installed and setup in the new ROM yet. I didn't realise but I had quite a few of my contacts as phone contacts and not google contacts so they didn't sync into the new rom. So I am looking for a soloution to that and also a way to move my sms messages over.
Eventually I am planning on using the Jelly time as my full time ROM but there are alot of updates to it at the moment, which is a good thing in making it stable. However it takes quite a while to apply all the applications and settings I use after doing a full wipe. Do you need to do this when flashing a new version of JT over a previous one or is there an easy way of doing that? As I read in a lot of places that you should always do a full wipe and that titainum backup is not recomended?

For moving SMS, I'd suggest this app : https://play.google.com/store/apps/...mNvbS5yaXRlc2hzYWh1LlNNU0JhY2t1cFJlc3RvcmUiXQ..
And as far as flashing the updates of JellyTime are concerned... It is recommended to always full wipe but you might get away with flashing the update over the previous version without a wipe. In some updates the author of the ROM explicitly says that full wipe is needed... in those cases you must. In other cases you can flash the ROM without the wipe which will keep your apps and data intact. However, it would still be better to wipe your cache and dalvik cache atleast.
Using Titanium Backup is not recommended at all when you're switching between different Android versions.. however I personally think it works ok when used between updates of the same ROM.

I also had all my contacts as phone contacts too. I chose to convert my contacts (and my calendar as well) to google for ease of syncing later on, so I have no tried and tested suggestions on how to maintain them as phone contacts. What I did was let HTC Sync synchronise with Outlook (I created a new PST file for this, then specified it in HTC Sync), then used GO Contact Sync Mod (sorry I can't post links yet) to sync it with my gmail account.
If you really wanted to leave as phone contacts, you could try Titanium Backup - but since your phone contacts are saved as system data it's a bad idea - so I'd recommend against it. If you're backing up your nandroid for ARHD, you could always try TiBu and let us know how it went - I think it was labeled Dialer Storage - filter to system data and just look through all the green-colored items for something that says "CONTACTS" or "PEOPLE".
However it takes quite a while to apply all the applications and settings I use after doing a full wipe. +1 to what if4!ct0r said regarding wiping before flashing.
There will always be some system settings that you will have to re-enter manually if you customize them a lot even when updating builds of the same ROM (probably because these are the system items that you shouldn't be restoring). These will depend on the ROM, but for me and JellyTime, the ones I had to redo were developer, lock screen, system/status bar, sound, display, language, as well as ringtone/sound notifications for alarms, messaging and calendar. Also you'll have to manually set up your widgets again - typically ones that require you to configure it as you place it.
As for TiBu not being recommended - personally I didn't have a problem with it when moving over to JellyTime. I actually purchased the Pro version just for this and for flashing new JellyTime builds. There are two things to consider when restoring via TiBu: 1) system data; and 2) app and app data.
System data: The main concern here is, when changing to a completely different ROM, do NOT restore any system data (unless you're aware whether it was updated in the new build or just experimenting). Even when you're updating to a new build of the same ROM, you should at least avoid restoring the red-coloured items and just stick to green and yellow items that may contain useful data such as contacts, sms, call logs, saved wifi access points, bookmarks, etc.
App and app data: I personally think it's ok to restore your apps themselves, but you could always record a list of what you had and download them manually again just to be safe - not a big deal unless you have over a hundred apps. When switching ROMs, try to avoid restoring the app's data unless you really wanted/needed it for certain apps - in that case, be conservative with what you choose. I'm not a programmer or developer, so I don't know how this would affect your system/app if switching to a ROM with a different Android version. Restoring app data between builds of the same ROM should be fine, as I've done it between all my JellyTime flashes with no issue even when it updated to Android 4.1.2.
Tip: after flashing the ROM, and doing your typical post-ROM-flash stuff (like fixing permissions, rebooting, wiping cache+dalvik, flashing Gapps, etc), and you've tested it and are happy with its stability, download TiBu again (or if you had the apk stored somewhere after you purchased it, just install it manually), boot to recovery and make a nandroid of the new ROM as it stands: nice and clean before any apps are installed. This way you've got a recovery option without having to go through the hassle of re-flashing the ROM build again, setting it up, etc if all you did was stuff up while experimenting with restoring data on TiBu.
As always, make a nandroid backup before flashing. As I mentioned, if you're initially happy with the ROM, I recommended also doing one after you flash while the system is fresh and clean. Sorry if this post is a bit wordy, but I thought more info would help, as it helped me in the past.

+1 for SMS Backup & Restore; I also used it, but keep in mind AFAIK it doesn't save MMS. I also used Call Logs Backup & Restore, in case you're interested in backing this up too. But since I started using TiBu, I don't need either of these apps any more.
Maybe changing the digitizer could help asd

Guys i need your help. Pleas can someone tell me for now what mods is much better for I927R (Also withe very stability and with much less bugs) ?!
I found Liquid Smooth but it have some problem so i need your guide about other mods.
Thank you
ICS Roms are the best and most stable... Stock ICS from AT&T UCLJ3 or any roms based off of it ... Dman's daily driver, Ice Pop Rom by RawRaw, LiteRom by TheGreaterGood...
Unfortunately none of those are being maintained but I had been running Dman's for the last couple months, great battery life when paired w/ JuiceDefender (20+hours of heavy use when I'm not sleeping).
Now the newest CM10.1 by Spyke seems pretty solid ... Just a couple of issues.
ICS is the only one you'll get bug free, though. Stock is hard to compete with when we're pairing up roms without a true Devdeloper.
On this subject, I've just reverted back to using IcePop ROM after (unhappily) downgrading from Spyke's latest 10.1 ROM - just mainly because of the Bluetooth headset issue, which I really need working for work purposes.
I'm just wondering if there are any ICS builds that have GPS working correctly? I tried flashing the Rogers modem (since my phone was originally a Rogers import, flashed to AT&T ICS, then played with ICS from there) and first time I ran GPS status it took 771 seconds... I'm going to keep trying just in case that was the first time only, but 12 minutes is still a very long time for an initial fix .
Also - I've found that I'm getting more and more bootloop problems even with clean installs - so wiping cache, data, dalvic, etc. Is there some way to do a *thorough* wipe without bricking the phone? I can back all my data up no worries, but next time I move to JB (in the optimism that the BT issues will be fixed soon, judging by the positive progress being made by Spyke ) I would like to do a clean build from scratch and not have to gamble being able to start the phone up again
David - I always go into mount options of CWM and format /system prior to a new flash .. I'm not sure if flashing with Odin will get rid of any previous settings, its something to attempt though.
I, also, had reverted to using JB Because GPS wouldn't work ... There's a thread in here (search for it) that shows the solution to the GPS fix, its editing sirgps.conf and gps.conf ... I was getting a fix on GPS in under 30 seconds.... GPS was a huge let down in the stock ICS rom, Even when using TheGreaterGoods LiteRom w/ GPS fix I found after a couple of days my gps didn't hold....
Thanks for the reply.
I was considering formatting /system this morning when I was getting stuck in a boot loop from trying to get M3 running, but decided it was a risk I'd have to check up on first . Next time I do a build from scratch (I'm going to resist until the BT stuff is working - fingers crossed!) I'll do that.
I remember having a look at the gps.conf fix but don't recall anything about sirgps.conf - so I will look it up, thanks!
As an aside, I've been checking the GPS fix a couple of times since my last post and it is coming up in under 30 seconds each time... I'm wondering if my attempt to flash the Rogers modem did in fact fix the issue... I'd do a reboot but I'm too scared I won't get the phone up again XD
EDIT:
Found the fix, I did a few of the changes (rather than all of them), and it's now picking up 8 satellites instead of 3-5, and getting a stronger signal from each... and all I did was point it to the AU ntp server, and tell it I'm not on the ATT network . I'll save the suggested settings to a text file on my SD card so next time I'm out and about and if it plays up I'll have access to the details.

Had to restart my phone tonight and got caught in a boot loop again... after trying a few things I flashed Lite Kernel (I'm still using ICS again at the moment) and that seems to have solved the boot loop issues. I'm thinking that with all the ROM flashing I've been doing the fact that I actually had the phone running without flashing an ICS specific kernel (after running JB) was screwing things up.
Interestingly though, I tried installing Spyke's M3 ROM from a complete user wipe, system format, everything gone - and I still got a boot loop so next time I try it I'll grab a copy of LiteKernel and do that separately.

That has to be very concerning to you, I've never had an issue booting any ROM. And very strange flashing the Kernel separately would resolve your booting issues...
Did you try to flash any of the stock roms w/ Odin ? I have read that we can only flash back to stock Gingerbread from JellyBean if we flash a GB or ICS CWM ROM and then go back with Odin otherwise there will be boot issues.
If I were in your position I would try and do a full revert back to the earliest version of gingerbread I could find on samfirmware and then use Kies to udpate - THEN I would retry flashing to a newer JB or ICS Rom.
Pretty time consuming but that is the price we pay to mod

My phone has an issue, simple I couldnt reboot it, I must power off and wait a little. You can try it when you flash something, just remove battery and usb cable, and wait 2 minutes, before you turn on.

Not yet. I'll have to check which ones I have - I'm certain I have the AT&T ICS rom from November but then I'd have to go digging through my email for the unlock code again, so I'm trying to avoid doing that at this point . If i can find the stock GB Rogers rom at some point I might flash that one back on before I do any more upgrades. The phone is up and running at this point though, so I'm not too fussed. I've also noticed that it's a little quicker than before so I think the version of LiteKernel I installed was a good idea anyway.

I've tried pulling the battery a few times, but probably no longer than 30 seconds. Next time I'll give it a couple of minutes. I tend to do this late at night when I'm not expecting any calls (except fire brigade but I have a pager for that too) so time without a phone is no issue to me
Yesssss
After much irritation at continually getting stuck in boot loops again, I've 'Oneclicked' the phone twice, got fed up with the AT&T ICS ROM within about 5 minutes, gave up on IcePop because of buggy GAPPS...
And thought, bugger it. Format /system. Factory reset. Clear cache + Dalvik. Installed in this order:
Jellybean 4.2 ROM from 0217
Spyke's M3 update
PAC rom
GAPPS dated 0427
"Kick-ass Kernel"
and it BOOTED FIRST GO
I am pleased
Does JB need already to be installed before putting the M3 revisions on? Maybe that's where I've been going wrong all along, because my attempts at running both the standard M3 and PAC ROM (even immediately after OneClicking) resulted in boot loops or eternal boot loading.
Uhh... what do you mean by "One Clicking" ??
I know there's a "superoneclick" that will flash and root the rom all at once, but I never personally found it to work for our glides.
Using CWM and installing the ROM through the CWM boot menu is severaly key presses so ... not too sure what you're referring to.
Also, I've always downloaded to a hardwired computer then copied over USB to my phone and flashed ... sometimes the download will have errors if I grab it from my phone.
I'm assuming it's a variant of SuperOneClick... The title is 'Odin3Excution v1.85' and then underneath it says 'I927UCLG9_OneClick'.
And it worked just fine, I did have a stock rom that I tried to flash with Odin but it kept giving me errors, the OneClick method worked.

Interesting... for future reference, www.samfirmware.com has the stock firmwares, then there's the superUser file floating around the forums that allows you to root by flashing it. Passed that, remove bloat.
Glad you got it working! Welcome to JB

[RE-FLEXxx] Q&A Thread

In this thread you can post your experience, questions, and all other stuff that is not directly related to the RE-FLEXxx rom.
I do this to keep the dev thread clean.
Thank you for your understanding.
I will take a look into this thread from time to time but the main goal is so that users of the RE-FLEXxx rom can help out each other and that they can find help from each other in one place.
Regards, civ.
I installed 2.0 on my N5110 (coming from 1.9) and it is working well but the top of my tablet is non-responsive to touch. Happened on other releases but a reboot always fixed it. This time the problem remained, so I tried wiping cache, dalvik, fixing permissions, reboots, and all sorts of combinations. I did finally manage to fix the issue yesterday after one of those reboots but now the problem just reappeared and won't go away. Any suggestions?
Edit: Finally got it resolved with a full wipe of data, cache, and dalvik through cwm recovery. Then I flashed Civz reflexx Rom 2.1 and rebooted. The top of the screen still did not respond to touch, so I rebooted and now everything works perfectly.
anybody else still having SNote FC on them in 2.0? also the extended menu items will not work for me...setting fc

no snote and extended menu all working for me. Maybe you had a bad download? Otherwise try wiping and installing fresh.

yes, hd happened to me, I re downloaded and reflashed it again and is OK now..
well, I finally installed twrp, and backed up my stock rom, so I am getting ready to flash the first custom rom on any tablet I have had!
one quick question; I am a very experienced rom flasher; I see in TWRP, there are several options under the wipe menu, and, I know to check the first 4 options before flashing this rom; then, there are 2 more options, wipe internal card, and wipe external card.
I know not to wipe my external card, since all my "stuff" is there...should I wipe the internal card before flashing, or is that not necessary when flashing this rom from a stock rom?
I apoligize if this belongs in the the TWRP thread, but I thought since others have probably gone through this, I wanted to post the question here as well. I guess I should post it in the TWRP thread as well...
thank you!

This is my opinion on it.....I usually only wipe the internal card if I am starting completely over with flashing a device. Wiping data/cache is usually all that is needed but if there are a lot of apps that get installed over time their folders get left and every so often I like to wipe it to get rid of all the "orphaned" folders. If you are going to just restore all those apps anyways then it won't make a difference either way. If you are going from the stock rom to a TW custom based on the stock it shouldn't be necessary to flash internal.
thanks man, that is what I thought, but, since I have never flashed a custom rom on to any tablet I have owned, I wasnt sure if there was other "stuff" on the internal card that might be needed no matter what; and, yes, since I will just be restoring all of my apps pretty much once I flash this custom rom, I might as well just leave the internal card alone...
I appriciate your fast reply!

Please take my advice with caution...I did not take your point into consideration because I have yet to do it on this particular tablet (only had the Note for 1 day). Never had a problem on any other tablets/devices but who knows. I wouldn't think there would be an issue. However, like you say probably no reason to wipe internal if you will just be restoring them back anyways.

tun.ko or tap.ko?
I'm trying to get openvpn to work on REFLEX2.0 in tap mode. Looks like I need a tap.ko kernel module for either the stock kernel or the CivZ-StormBorn_Rev2.0-OC kernel. Anyone know where I might find such a thing?
---------- Post added at 03:59 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:54 PM ----------
I notice the CivZ-StormBorn_Rev2.0-OC kernel has no /proc/config.gz file. That means the kernel was not compiled with the CONFIG_IKCONFIG option. Is there a way to see what options are baked in to the kernel?

USB Mass Storage Unexpectedly Removed Loop
Hi,
Not sure if I am posting this in the right spot but I am getting a mass storage device unexpectedly removed loop message whenever I attached my USB flash drive? I am using the V2.1 ROM and kernel so wondering if anyone else is facing this same issue? Thanks!

i have better luck if i tap at the bottom of the softkey. it's almost as if the icon is bigger than the actual location that the press registers.
Chrome screen bug solution
Basically the problem is the notification bar, combined with the lack of on-screen softkeys. In order to fix it, you need the following:
Xposed Framework:
http://mohammadag.xceleo.org/public/Android/XposedInstallerDownloadUnsigned.apk
How it works:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1574401
App Settings manager:
http://mohammadag.xceleo.org/public/Android/Xposed/AppSettings_0.4.apk
I've been using this combination on my tablet for a while now. It lets me change the resolution for individual apps. For instance, I want the tablet mode of Gmail, but I want my tablet to run in phablet mode so that I get the top notification bar and no softkeys.
The Chrome fix is simple. The app settings for the Chrome executable should have the fullscreen option toggled, the DPI set to 160, and the screen resolution set to 800x1200. It then hides the notification bar on top while you're in the browser, and shifts the screen that quarter of an inch where it is offset due to the Chrome bug on tablets without softkeys. If you need to access the notification bar, simply swipe down on the screen from the top edge and it will pop up.
If the print size is too small, you can use the accessibility settings in Chrome to scale up the font size.

Hi,
Please ignore my last message as the issue was using the wrong kernel on my part. Thanks!
Question
I'm thinking of flashing a new ROM having used stock for month or so now. My concern is regarding the apps I have installed and am currently using, specifically FolderMount.
If I flash a new ROM (either civs older 4.1 build or his newer 4.2 one depending on how he is progressing), will I lose the links?
I have about 25GB worth of game obb and data transferred over from my internal memory to my micro SD. I dont fancy using up all my download allowance having to re- download and install all of those (plus the time it takes to transfer them all over). I dont mind losing the layout of my homescreens as I'm thinking of shaking that up anyway.
I've only one past experience of flashing a Rom and that ended up with me having to reinstall and set up all my apps (jump from ICS to JB on my Asus TF101)
