T-Mobile Galaxy Note II Toolkit Ideas (My Current Project) - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note II

T-Mobile Galaxy Note II Toolkit
Ok so I have finally got the T-Mobile Galaxy Note II and just like I did for the SGS II, I am going to start programming a nice flashy toolkit for the Note II.
I'm starting this thread to get started some support and ideas for the project.
If anyone has any good and original ideas please let me know...
Obvious thing that it will do...
- Install CMW (or other recovery)
- Install Root
- Flash Stock
- Sideload APK's
- Install other ZIP Packages
- a few other things that I will carry over from my SGSII Toolkit
But I would love to do some other things for this toolkit to set it above the rest..... So please if anyone has any really nice scripts or tweaks let me know!!! :highfive:
Post to this thread, or pm me...
Here are some screenshots of what I have done so far.
(Not being released yet, only 2 days in to programming)

Give me the link... all I found was a recovery installer.
But I'm making something that's noob friendly... not an option 1 option 2 cmd script, but and actual visual program...

thanks for your efforts though.

Yeah ok then... just to be clear, If you have input that will better my project then that's great, if not please don't reply.

I remember you from the sgs2 and your toolkit was actually really good and if you want to develop one it will be welcomed for sure. The one that we have is really good and I use it now. If you remember I was the first one to donate to your sgs2 toolkit. I like the idea of the toolkit and fully support it. I personally like doing things manually but have ran ito problems with adb and find that for the common person with only light skills a toolkit is the way to go.I think that there is definitly a place for toolkits in the future of android development. Please do not let others turn you off from developing your own stuff. The more the better. Just because there is one doesn't mean that there cant be another. This is not a competition and I fully encourage you to do your own thing because the more you do the more experience you will gain.
Some of the things the other one does that I liked was the capability to create your own .tar and store your backups on your pc. Basically just adb automated. Your work on the sgs2 was great and I look forward to see what you come up with for the note 2 (by the way what a kick ass phone huh?) Dont worry about what others say there is always going to be idiots if just one person finds what you do useful then you win.

Hey man its great that you support the other toolkit, but I don't really like the option 1 option 2 style.
I like to click on buttons and have something visually nice to work with.
The other toolkit is great, and fully functional, but for me not visually pleasing.
If you want to get an example of what I mean then download my sgs2 toolkit.
The reality is to each his own.

wtf is wrong with you people? let the man/woman build his toolkit. that'd be like saying "don't make a different rom. a great one already exists."

THANKS

Welcome to the Note 2, AJ. Glad to see you around. Don't listen to the others. There's no law against more than one toolkit.
For those who have never used his work before, AJ made a very simple and user friendly program for managing the T989. The GUI was what made it special. Everything was sorted easily, so you could add to it if you wanted. Wait until he's done, then make your judgments.

Yeah his stuff is great and to the guy who said we dont need another one who the hell made you the judge of that? The reality is you dont speak for all of us. Aj you will just have to show them thats all.

Yea but I do speak for myself. And that's that.

By all means please do!
I've been really surprised by many of the responses. We don't need trolls demeaning another coders efforts, we dont have enough people actually coding and it sounds like his previous work has been well received.
While the current toolkit certainly works well, it is ugly. And while a nicer overlay of buttons would work, I'd like to see a visual design that shows the steps in the process. As important but probably harder, some indication of that status of your phone, i.e. this is your current recovery, here are your current backups, etc.
Even if you do just make a prettier version of the current tool that would be great, I might not switch just because it looks different but there are some that need that extra help. And giving me more information in a intuitive fashion would be wonderful. Also an open monitor console that persists would be nice, so I can see what I've done.
We have a great toolkit now, lets see what you can do, and thanks for the effort!

i dont know if this will help but i know smali can be a bit of an itch.
im not sure this will totaly work. but its a start as i have said before. im still learning and willing to share all that i can. hope it helps.

I appreciate that, I've been working with this smali so many hours, its becoming human readable to me . I just hit a break through this morning. I have to keep telling myself I'm working on pure aosp lol. My framework was 100% correct, I knew that but 1 method in particular was missing still. On a hunch I decompiled the Epic's services.jar and the method is declared in services as well so once again I'm moving forward but this showed me there is some work to be done inside of services also. As long as I keep getting new errors I'm pushing forward.

Another Big thanks to Agat63- since none of us would have as much cool sh.. without him.
To datajosh, for deodexing the stock rom, for which this is based.
To dazedandconfused, for looking into my rom when I was stuck.
To tdunham, for also taking a second look at things for me when I was stuck.
To Kobridge, for his awesome tweaks.
To locoboi187 for the reminder that aosp (even though i themed them) apks will not work with tw.
To dante32278 for getting my back.
To fryingpan0613 and Fugi888 for commenting and leaving me psyched to get this done.
If I forget anyone, please let me know. It was not on purpose.

I am a regular person with a family. I attend college full time and have a busy schedule. I do plan on updating whenever I have time.
Thank you all end enjoy.

Well, sounds like you got it. I ported theme from the tmobile s2, applied it to stock, debloated, added agat63 ff18 kernel. I had a version right before release that worked well with exception of the dialer portion. But somehow when i fixed that, something else went wrong. So i came up with the method in op. I am going back to drawing board to try and get everything working without having to flash twice.
Edit: ha ha ha. I just looked back through your supernova rom post. Sorry about photo bucket screwing you over, but i did have a little laugh. Also, I may know where i went wrong with the build. Crossing fingers now.

Thanks man. Just trying to learn is all. I have come up with some pretty good creations back in the past, but didnt know enough about android to put them together. As you can see, still a little rough. I just really dont understand how one works, another wont boot, but yet they all have the same exact stuff in them. Whatever. Im gonna re-do this whole rom next leak. It seemed to boot better off of stock kernel, but i gotta have my recovery. And when xda wont host for me, i use www.postimage.org no account necessary, 100% free.

JB Framework Theme?

Was curious if anyone has made or developed a JB (Blue) theme for the system UI on the Glide yet?
I like using 4.0.4 but I do not like the stock GB style interface that comes with it. Anyone made their
own yet or seen one around?
Thanks..
Erm, nope. I believe NardROM tried to implement 15 toggles but otherwise there's no Holo/Blue SystemUI mods yet.
I would just go with CM10, use the Cobalt or the Blue Infinitum theme. They're both amazing.
Above all, if you like orange, AoCP is awesome
Thanks for the response man. I would use CM10, but its still a work in progress. I find 4.0.4 to still be smoother and more effective for the time being.
I guess I could make one,.

Still a work in progress of course, but changed a few things up. I personally like it better this way.
Any thoughts?
Soon as DMan and the cew have Cyan10 up and running stable I'll port this theme over to it and I'll

I'd be happy to try that, but I am not sure how to do it.
I know how to do a few things in regards of making themes but I am
light years shy of being an expert or knowing how to handle everything,
have any pointers on how I could go about doing that? Because I
certainly like that idea. I am somewhat new to themeing for this
particular device obviously, my old device was quite different in
how you theme, so I am still learning some stuff.
Thanks for the input Aquethys, appreciate it.

Can you give us some status on it? Is it close to be finished?

I'm working on it. I want to make sure it is finished and clean before
I throw it at anybody so I won't have to mess with it to much beyond
that. Like everyone else on here, I have other things to do as well,
give me time, I'll have it up here sometime inside a week. Glad you
guys like it! I was considering throwing an icon pack in with it too,
but I will likely release that afterwards, we'll see.
Nice. If you need somewhere besides dropbox for hosting I can host it w/ Android File Host or Dev Host just shoot me a pm.
Ok, so I've evolved it a little beyond the basic blue style look
of AOSP Jelly bean blue into a more personal take on it yet
again, that is why it is taking me longer as I am constantly
changing some things and coming on with different looks
and ideas. But here's a preview of what I am working with
so far. Feel free to provide input or ideas,
Dude, you are really good @ this xD
However just a suggestion
If you do put out a release do a personal one and also put out the traditional Holo Blue
If you could theme systemui (the actual pulldown too) that'd be cool

I am themeing it all. Hence the wait. I might release both stock AOSP and mine. We'll see. Just give me some time, I'm a college student so I'm busy all the time, but I squeeze in what I can.
It shall be done soon.

Ok, here's the deal. I am on break from school for the next week or two. So I will have a little more free
time to put in. So I'll be putting some serious work in on getting this done. I should have a usable
release this coming Monday or Tuesday and possibly a fully themed phone version released the
following week.
I have more time available, but I still have a life too, if my girl tells me to turn the PC off and stop working,
I will, haha. So give me time. There's more themes to come afterwards as well, seeing as how I will
likely be using the Glide for a long time, I'll be doing quite a few themes.

E-Ink Case Coming Soon!!!

E-ink isn’t something you often see associated with smartphones. There have been some exceptions to that rule with a few notable mentions coming in as the dual-screen YotaPhone and the popSLATE case. Well, coming by way of Gajah International it looks like those with a Galaxy Note II or GALAXY S 4 may soon have an option available for purchase.

Interesting concept. I just can't see the practicality for myself.
one of those cool but pointless things I'd never use
I don't understand the reason? Just seems like something else to shatter upon impact.

It isn't as if you can use both at once, plus the battery drain..
I really see no purpose

I'll say this Soft, I'm not too sure about what it can, and cannot do. It was just an article I read. And taught the concept was COOL.
But I usually place my phone down face down. So if it works the way I think then. If you receive a msg, e-mail, etc then you'll b able to see it without actually powering on the phone at all. But have to wait too see all the specs for it. That's my assumption

Maybe because you don't understand the concept of it. It for quick access, quick glace at something msg, mms, email. Where is you don't need to power the phone on completely.
And the point is that it's a new product that I was just sharing with the community. For the ones that may actually be interested!!

I understand the concept quite well actually...
Also did read the article.
Just giving my personal opinion, just because it isn't the same as yours doesn't mean I don't understand.
I just don't see the need for a second screen that requires Bluetooth, draining your battery when you can turn on the screen and quickly pull down the notification blind.
I said earlier it's a cool concept that I personally wouldn't use

I love reading about this Gajah e-ink case but even with the updated link it is also from June when many of the other sites reported on this case. Last month I signed up on Gajah's site to receive information when they actually will sell the cases. I haven't received anything and their website has no information on these cases either (at least I couldn't find anything). I really, really want this case...even at $129.00 for my Note II. If you are an avid reader and do so outdoors, this case would make it all worthwhile for the price. Now, I do hope they also figure the software out so you can view most apps on the e-ink screen. It will make the device heavier but...I still want it! LOL!
got one InkCase for iphone, works fine. I can push my favorite photo to InkCase now

So wonder how long before the great developers at XDA port over Galaxy note 3 rom for Galaxy note 2 (hopefully has wifi calling). So is any one else hoping to see this or is it just me?

Lol no biggie.the post I made about flashing it was before I read the whole post of the link you provided, came back to say I wasnt gonna flash it and noticed the others saying not to. I tend to stay with stock style roms. Was wondering if someone will try and get the note 3 rom to work for our device

Check out Tweaked ROM, most of us in this thread use it. Great ROM. Based on stock, but with more options, one of the most unique ROMs I've used, and my favorite. Stopped me from flashing everything.
