I tried to root my ATT Galaxy S3 today using the instructions at:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1746665
However, after flashing via Odin, the device rebooted but would only go to the Galaxy S3 screen. Furthermore, I could get into download mode, but not recovery mode. When trying to reflash, Odin would just hang at "<ID:0/005> NAND Write Start!! ".
Doing some research, I came across this thread:
https://plus.google.com/115708174332375617872/posts/9x2Zy8BRfV3
which had the exact same issue, and a fix. Basically need to re-Flash with a PIT file and a 3 part firmware. However, it looks like the firmware included in that thread is for a European phone, and not ATT.
Does anyone, know where I can get a 3 part firmware for a Galaxy S3 ATT phone?
Any help would be appreciated.

Hello,
I'm trying to downgrade my Canadian Note 2 (SGH-i317M) from 4.3 back down to 4.1.2 but I'm having some issues.
First off, the Sammobile.com firmware site doesn't even have the file available anymore. I tried getting it for Virgin Mobile, but it says the file isn't found so I guess they deleted it off their servers. Since it should be exactly the same for any of the 3 carriers and their subsidiaries I tried flashing a Telus version and a Bell version but both failed to flash in Odin.
After the failed flash I get the yellow firmware failed text screen and it telling me to do an emergency recovery in Kies, which of course I can't do.
So, does anyone know why the flashing is failing?
Thanks

Looks like you have to do the battery pull/boot into recovery/factory reset steps described in the thread linked above.
I have the same problem. I have i317m though. I got 4.1.1 but can't get rid of the modified status, nor will it accept 4.1.2. Done that how to 5 times. Darn knoc had to mess up the fun.
Try installing 4.1.1 via odin
Hello all, I am new to the android community as well as the devices, which was probably a major factor in the coming of my current predicament. Anyways, i recently purchased a Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 7.0, running Android KitKat 4.4.2 . I attempted to root the device using ODIN v3.07 and CF auto root that was meant for the model SM-T320, whereas my model is SM-T230. So in the middle of the process, Odin said it failed and it stuck in download mode. When I tried to reset it, it came up to the screen in the pictures below. I have attempted using the firmware update from Kies 3, but i get an error message saying that the device cannot be updated. I have downloaded two different versions of the SM-T230's supposed firmware and have attempted to "flash" the device using these files, however to no avail. The error message is in the pictures below. Can anyone help me resolve this problem?

ok so recently iv encountered the same problem, with a good easy solution, if you look carefully on the update error screen that you are facing, in the top left it says odin mode.........
the next steps are simple......
download the current SM-T230 firmware from here: http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/3/?download=33745
Assumming you are in uk or a europien country, ( there is currently no uk firmware updateable via kies ) so please use the nordick firmware. (its excatly the same, i have both )
Download odin 3.7 from here : http://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rc...S5QWImOPDJboTA_V3D5S9eA&bvm=bv.74115972,d.d2k
Once you have downloaded the firmware you will need to unzip the file to somewhere easy to find, i would suggest the desktop. locate and run odin 3.7 and point the PDA tab to your recently unzipped firmware file and click start.... odin will do its thing and complete the firmware update process......
HOPE THIS HELPS THE GUYS THAT ARE HAVING PROBLEMS......... LET ME KNOW HOW YOU GOT ON
Hi I downloaded
galaxys6root.highonandroid.com/galaxy-s6-edge-stock-rom/
My TMOBILE Samsung Galaxy Edge firmware. Due to some kind of boot issues. It just stays at the samsung logo
indefinitely.
I've rooted several phones in the past through different methods using linux. At this issue, I just dont have a lot of time as I usually do to mess around.
Every time I Try to flash the zip in the above url it says failed. I'm guessing this is because this kind of 'rom' is different than say cyanogenmod? Does this have to be flashed via odin or something?
i HAVE THE G925T, t-mobile. I've tried like 5 different custom roms which all also fail.
I've tried to find what firmware and radio I'm running via ADB but not sure how.

Hello, and thank you for using XDA Assist!
Yeah, stock ROM usually requires stock recovery. At least the the factory stock ROM's anyway (which I'm not sure this is - I'm downloading to see if I can tell the difference, but it's going to be a while edit: downloaded & viewed, and the scripts are pretty generic and barebones). If not the case, and if experience with the other ROM's prove, the TWRP you downloaded may be a dud - or the bootloader is (still) locked.
At any rate, I am connecting this thread to the forum your device experts can be found in:
> T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge > T-Mobile Galaxy S6 Edge Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting
They've likely seen something like this before. Please note, that to be able to respond to replies, you will need to register for an XDA account.
Hope this helps, and good luck!
Odin stock complete firmware, not a rom, not with twrp.
Pp.
I pulled out an old samsung galaxy note 2. The t-mobile model sgh-t889 i believe. i was trying to upgrade it to android 4.4. I found somewhere saying the official at&t roms work for this phone. I tried the most recent one. I317-UCUCNJ2-Stock.tar.md5. this was the file I used. Odin failed almost at the end. Now the phone is frozen in odin with a complete blue bar. Any ideas? i want to flash the tmobile stock rom again but i don't want to make the situation worse?
Hopefully, a locked att bootloader was not flashed to the phone.
All you can do at this point would be to power off the phone, boot into download mode, and try flashing the latest stock rom from sammobile.com.
Hello everyone, so long story short I accidentally flashed my Tmobile Note II SGH T889 with the ATT rom (I317UCALJ2_I317ATTALJ2_ATT.zip) while trying to go back to stock. Now in download mode my phone reads as if it's an ATT model, I'm not even sure how an ATT firmware flash passed on odin. Phone wont boot and I cannot access recovery mode as it just spits " Firmware upgrade encountered an issue." I cant upload a pic due to external links, but the phone says "Product Name: SGH-I317" when in download mode, or are as my phone reads "ODIN MODE".
I've tried flashing every version of the stock Tmobile roms via odin 3.12 and all of them fail at the very end. I don't know what to do anymore. Any insight into this is much appreciated, thank you!
Update: I managed to flash TWRP through odin, but flashing stock MD7 through custom recovery still lands me in a bootloop.
Was the phone purchased new or used? Do you recall see the T889 model # in download mode before flashing?
It was given to me used by a family member. It was in functioning condition but running very buggy so I wanted to flash stock and go from there. I do not recall seeing the SGH-T889 model # in download beforehand as I really wasn't expecting to make such a foolish mistake. The phone is unquestionably an SGH-T889 though, confirmed by the back cover and the IMEI sticker behind the battery.
The only way to really confirm that the phone is a T-Mobile note 2 would have been to boot int download mode. Since the att firmware flashed in Odin with no errors, I'm inclined to believe that the phone motherboard was actually from an att note. I have never seen Odin allow such cross flashing.
Maybe open the phone and examine the motherboard to confirm model number?
I could open the phone and search for the model number on the mobo, but why on earth would the back sticker read as an SGH-T889? This is a funky situation.
It could be a frankenphone. The motherboard from a t889 will fit in a i317 amd i317m and vice versa.
